    Flashforge released Klipper firmware for the 5M Pro now!

      @@randymay Yeah! For the 5M and 5M Pro I believe. Apparently light on instructions, but the GitHub is there. The 5M is only $299 right now and they also released printer design files and free print files for an enclosure with a very affordable kit releasing soon, so that's a fantastic deal. They're advertising it as "Fully open-source hardware and software, exploring more possibilities." Big step for them. Hoping a lot of 3D printing TH-camrs will cover it as they def deserve praise for such steps if all works well.

      @@randymay They pretty much were forced to or face lawsuit they are guaranteed to not win due Klipper's license. So now you can add mainsail/fluidd if you want, long as you add it your self.

      does this apply to both the pro and the non-pro? should carry over as they're basically the same printer

    Great video. Loading files onto it seems clunky, and it's a shame there's no mobile app. I don't suppose you know how loud it is compared to the Bambu Labs X1 Carbon, do you?

      I feel like the 5M Pro is a little bit quieter than my X1C and P1P printers

      @@randymay Thanks. If it's just a little quieter, I won't rush to add it to my collection. Was hoping to have something I can run overnight, as I have the X1C in a spare room and the kids complain about the noise

      All Flashforge printers support the Polar Cloud, so you can monitor, control and even slice objects from your phone or any mobile device.

    I've had the non Pro version for a few days now and overall it's great, but i agree that i hope they let us use the Klipper UI via Fluidd or something similar.
    The Flashforge slicer just isn't that great, the monitoring is very basic and you pretty much can't change any machine settings.

      Actually there are only 14 reviews on their site. This must be a glitch on the first page. Honestly I check amazon or other sites reviews and never pay so much attantion to the reviews on manufacturer web site. But good catch, although nothing serious to hold you on your decision.

    I had some FlasForge, including 2 Creator X. I thought I'd buy x2 Guider 3Plus in the professional range. Well, what a disappointment (1 of the 2 machines broke down after 300h and I don't devellope more on the simplicity of a machine)! I really understood that FlashForge was stuck in time when I bought a Bambulab X1C. The hardware is very robust but FlashForge is 5 years behind in electronics and Slicer. What horrible FlashPrint software (don't use it if you have an ARM Mac).
    they were the 1st to use dual nozzles, so dual colors, with Creator X. 10 years later, they still don't have AMS, whereas BambuLab can run 16 colors.
    FlashForge needs to invest in engineering, not just marketing as they're doing, and not very well at that!
    So, goodbye FlashForge

    the software on it is so bad :C their regular 5M is worth the pricetag though

    • @randymay
      @randymay  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep, they need to open it up so we can use Orca slicer. They even ship the printer with Orca slicer on the USB drive. Granted you can still use Orca slicer but you can't use it over Wi-Fi. So definitely a giant misstep and they need to rethink this seeing that pretty much everyone agrees that they should open it up.

    Its basically a knock off K1 speedy enclosure with a knock off bambu labs extruder & really bad slicer software. It looks very cheap.

    • @randymay
      @randymay  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah pretty much. It does print well so I'll give it that and toolless nozzle swapping is actually pretty nice. But that slicer lockdown is definitely a major downside.
      I can't see how it looks cheaper seeing that the whole thing is just made out of injection molded plastic but it doesn't feel cheap if that makes sense.
      Also I don't know if you've seen my other videos or not but I do have the K1, K1 Max QiDi x-plus3,x1c and p1p. So I definitely have some machines to compare it to 😅

      @@randymay I have the regular 5M and agree with the fact that their slicer software is rather limiting. That said, the machine itself is actually very well made and the print quality is very good.
