@@absoluteshambles6905 not an expert, just a katana owner. when the sheath is attached to you, like a samurai traditionally does, then you do have the sword tip point the air. But when you’re holding it, like Vergil usually does, it is tip down. Idk know the real reason for this, but I do have experience based guesses. I have tried both ways, but my favorite is to hold the sheath. When the sheath is attached, you’re going to use two hands, and because of that, you draw it already facing the right way so you can quickly adjust your second hand after holding the sheath for a steady draw. When holding, you’re typically going to be using one hand, and your going to use the sheath as part of your attack too(like Vergil’s first two attacks with the Yamato) and having the tip face down (mostly) stops the sword from flying out the sheath. When you wish to draw the katana out you just adjust the sheath too help you pull out the katana and attack. The katana is a very fun weapon, and though not the best sword, it is a very balanced fast and easy blade. It is quick to draw and light(for a sword) and if sharpened and taken proper care of, it’s razor sharp and can make very thin deep cuts, which trust me, SUCK. If you read all my rambling thank you.
He went from using the blade of the yamato to deflect projectiles to slapping and back handing projectiles mid air using the handguard of the yamato from cool to cooler lol
It's a nice detail seeing Vergil finally correct the way he holds Yamato by the sheathe by 5 compared to how his younger self carries it around in 3 and 4. Sure, Yamato is in most cases nigh-unbreakable. Holding it with the blade curved downwards probably wouldn't have put its edge at risk of dulling, and Vergil probably would have dismissed the possibilies of that happening (because damaging the Yamato is "totally" impossible). But I like to think that after he reunited with Yamato after it got absolutely bodied by mundus decades prior, Vergil decided to give the sword a bit more respect than he did back then.
The Yamato did break in dmc4, so I think "impossible" is a bit of a stretch, but hey, that could be a factor in how Vergil treat his sword now, with more care and respect.
This makes me wonder. I think vergil ALWAYS had judgement cut end. In DMC3, during the final fight with him, he says "THIS IS THE END" right before he vanishes and unleashes a seemingly endless barrage of judgment cuts that spans across the map and then vergil reappears after the duration has ended. Maybe that was a foreshadow to the real judgement cut end in DMC4 and DMC5?
I do like the tiny detail how they corrected the grip Vergil had on his Yamato all these years to how a normal Katana scabbard is wielded in hand. Despite how it may look, it's a hell of a lot more convenient than the grip he had in dmc3-4 to go from holding a sheathed Yamato, to doing some wacky pizza man shit with his literal dimension cutting sword.

In DMC 3 Vergil is more groosome because he left his beloved. That's why he act more precise and deadly. In DMC 5 Vergil just returned to the roots. Also Vergil in DMC4SE is updated version of Vergil that's why he has wider moveset, because DMC3SE Vergil was limited in moves since he was literally playable boss, not because of plot. And I don't think that DMC4SE Vergil's story is "228 years ago" type, so he could change his style.

@@disquietellie not exactly. They have different Aerial Rave A. Boss Vergil has Yamato Stinger instead of Void Slash. And effects of attack are different.
It’s worth seeing, I wanna see if animations are tweaked at all or if the visual effects changed. Obviously Dante has all the same moves for his own boss fight but even his E&I is slower
Playable version has more light blue/cyan attack aura while boss version is darker blue. Judgement cut is darker while also has more pronounced sound with boss compared to playable as well.
This is such a good development of movesets and overall game mechanics for one character. I hope they add Trish and lady and give them the same overhaul
I still love how DMC3SE Vergil has a certain kind of grace and deadliness. He doesn't draw Yamato as often as in DMC5 in his movesets but when Yamato comes out in DMC3 it was always deadly and quick. They should have put the DMC3 aerial rave A as default Aerial Rave for vergil instead of making it an S rank taunt in 5. Vergil was never meant to do a ballet spin in mid-air, he'd cut you down quickly without all the dancing. Also it was cooler when Vergil did his rapid-slash without turning around. Cool guys don't look at explosions. RIP old upper slash string.
Sure, but DMC 3 Vergil's Yamato moveset was based on the boss moveset, which was very limited and had short animations which hurt like hell. 4 and 5 attempted to balance and add to his moveset so that he had more tools like the other characters.
@@ZoMbi5lAy3r Yea I get what you mean, I just wish they didn't rip most of Vergil's moveset from DmC . That version of Vergil just didn't feel like Vergil and maybe because it was developed by some other studio. @@lawrenegummy4736 And vergil in dmc3se was almost same as boss version only with some moves. While in dmc4se they added much more unique moves for him.

To be honest, Vergil in DMC3 seem more classy and elegant, like how he sheaths Yamato. I also like how DMC3 Vergil doesn't talk much, compare to DMC5 Vergil, he seem more talkative, he has lines in every move, even when he SDT.
I like that he talks more in DMC5 but I don't like the direction they went with the moveset. In DMC3 Yamato was deadly and elegant, Vergil shouldn't unsheathe yamato and whack around like Dante's rebellion. When Vergil drew Yamato in DMC3 the damage was high with a big-ass slash arc and then he sheathes the blade quickly. The whole Aerial Rave C spinning around like ballerina in mid-air just didn't feel like Vergil. Capcom had to cheap out and rip Vergil's moveset from the garbage that is Ninja Theory's DmC.
Tbh the way Vergil fights in DMC5 seems more practical as he keeps his knees bent for more balance instead of directly standing up like his younger self did as Vergil fighting style is supposed to be more focused on being quick and efficient rather than Dante's style of showing off in battle and as for the talkative part Vergil is starting to change due to his experience as V and has started to accept his human side and as for an irl explaination it's probably wanted the VA to talk more for the fans
@@lawrenegummy4736 you do know Vergil and Dante both practiced with wooden broadswords when they were kids, even though he does uses Yamato like an actual katana, his first style was broadsword so it makes sense why some moves have him using Yamato like that
the dmc4 and 5 Vergil's were clear upgrades. you can tell they rushed a playable Vergil in dmc3, cause they didn't seem to bother giving him any extra moves for the player to use. the Yamato attacks were limited, force edge attacks were so so, and the beowulf moves were decent.
No extra moves? Lunar Phase, Force Edge Combo and Yamato Aerial Rave say hi. But I see what you mean. It doesn't matter anyways since DMC3 Vergil is by far the most balanced.
His basic Force Edge combo was better in 3, as well as teleports, also not having separate button for Rising Sun anymore :(. But FINALLY having Helm Breaker-esque move on Yamato is a blessing.
Some of these are not 1:1 comparisons. Vergil lost his standard DT, unlike Dante, and only transforms with Sin DT. Trick from DMC3 doesn't even come close to the versatility of Air Trick. My point is, this was an opportunity to show that things that no longer align ARE different. DMC3 DT could have been contrasted with Doppelganger (which IS the regular DT now) and Air Trick could have illustrated that DMC5 Vergil can do more with his default trick than DMC3 Vergil.
notice how DMC5 vergil always keeps his stance while sheathing the Yamato in the first couple of combos? he also turns around for rapid slash this this time.
It wasnt that high when i relooked at it. The camera for the 3rd one aimed up higher and was more under vergil so it seemed like he was more up in the air.
I wish DMC 5 Vergil had a normal devil trigger. I'm not a fan of the whole doppelganger thing for his base DT activate tbh. Also a bummer none of the games have had the amount of costumes that DMC 3 gave you. That game had a shit ton including the Nelo Angelo transform 😔
Vergils 3 and 4 devil trigger and voice lines is better than 5 to be honest, imagine 3 and 4' devil trigger and different DT per weapon were in dmc5's graphics
the only noticeable difference between these vergils is the way we can get them: The vergir of DMC 3 is achieved by beating the game in the definitive difficulty and the one of DMC 5 by buying it in the online store how things changed 😥 But I still highly recommend this game.
Vergil had a really basic but strong moveset in DMC 3. Now he actually has to work a bit to wreck enemies, but once he gains concentration, demons just melt before him.

@@disquietellie don't forget back in DMC3 boss Vergil had a tracking round trip
Playable version has more light blue/cyan attack aura while boss version is darker blue. Judgement cut is darker while also has more pronounced sound with boss compared to playable as well.
I totally forget he could turn into Nelo Angelo with the corrupted skin
Which is an awesome comparison to Dante becoming Sparda with his LDK skin.
I get that maybe Capcom was trying to save budget by pulling the animations and mocaps from DmC, but I felt like they could have made a better Vergil if they just added new original moves evolved from DMC3 Vergil into DMC4SE and then evolve that further in DMC5SE.
You say he doesn't draw yamato often as in dmc5? It is because he has only five moves for yamato and he draws for all of the five moves
@@lawrenegummy4736 And vergil in dmc3se was almost same as boss version only with some moves. While in dmc4se they added much more unique moves for him.
@@lawrenegummy4736 DMC5 Vergil has chill out a bit.
Just look at Deep Stinger, it looks like Vergil just recently think of a cool moves.
Vergil lose some moveset, but gain a new one.
Void slash in particular, is quite cool.
This makes me see just how far video game cameras have come
*still can't get him to say jackpot* ;;
Hold the button and timing when you get a JC Took me a few days but I got it
When Vergil does three perfect judgement cuts in DMC5, he says, "jackpot".
0:50 for a second I thought they removed the sword flip then I realized it’s still there but its so fasssttt holy shh
Everyone: ah yes smoother animation and stuff
Me: I need to write down every move so I can beat him in the next fight.
It's cool how in 3 he holds Yamato for some of the attacks but puts it on his waist in 5
5も好きなんだけど、ここだと散々な言われようで嫌な気分だな。3の方が好きな人間は険があるコメントしか出来ないのか?それとも懐古厨なのか?
As my grandpa says: enjoys while you're young, cause later your legs won't be able to hold you anymore.
That hell on earth in DMC 3 wasn't the move. It's vergil changing back to yamato
Man ... The Trick/TP sound is still one of the single most satisfying SFX that Capcom has produced
良く3の金子デザイン(魔人化)をここまで格好良く進化させたもんだなぁと感心したよ
今見ても3のエフェクトって素晴らしいな
DMC5 Vergil took a lot of influence from all three other Vergil's. including reboot Vergil who had a Doppelganger as well as Just Judgement Cut.
no. he already has those moves before the reboot. the doppleganger move is just a borrowed style from dante in dmc3.
The Hell on Earth in DMC3 seems to be just him switching weapons. A nod to being able to do that in DMC1 without going into the menu
i cant even imagine playing as vergil without bury the light in the background anymore
The minimalistic look of dmc3 never gets old
未だに3連続次元斬出せた事が無い…
I need more Technique!!
Screw DMC 4 sonic boom effect, I want DMC 3 Ice/Glass shatteribg effect on mirage blade
@D35 12IY4NT0 Yes, yes, Special Edition, whatever
Its still DMC 4
@D35 12IY4NT0 Huh?
@D35 12IY4NT0 how is it worse?
Just gonna leave here for when he explains why the special edition is worse
@D35 12IY4NT0 dm4 se is just the game with more characters and costumes, the other stuff are untouched so its not worse its just the exact same game with more characters
1:46 I love DMC 5 to death but goddamnit... the gravity in this game man....
@@lawrenegummy4736 you do realize that virgils game play is based off how he plays in dmc4 right?
@@Scyclo DMC4 Vergil took many things from reboot. The only difference - he isn't shitty
@@lawrenegummy4736 you do know Vergil and Dante both practiced with wooden broadswords when they were kids, even though he does uses Yamato like an actual katana, his first style was broadsword so it makes sense why some moves have him using Yamato like that
this old man still motivated as well
I like to see that vergil with the time he upgraded his skills and maked it more efecctive
the dmc4 and 5 Vergil's were clear upgrades. you can tell they rushed a playable Vergil in dmc3, cause they didn't seem to bother giving him any extra moves for the player to use. the Yamato attacks were limited, force edge attacks were so so, and the beowulf moves were decent.
No extra moves? Lunar Phase, Force Edge Combo and Yamato Aerial Rave say hi. But I see what you mean. It doesn't matter anyways since DMC3 Vergil is by far the most balanced.
@@supersbbrawl4ever none of his weapons had more than one combo. Not Even by delaying the buttons.
Hot damn! The RE Engine is absolutely beautiful!
Virgil and Dante have matured through the five games so much and it shows
I like when Daniel Southworth lend his voice to Vergil.
I really miss the “Mhmhmh mhmhm”
Yeah that was badass. That was the sound of motivation .
Rising sun
His basic Force Edge combo was better in 3, as well as teleports, also not having separate button for Rising Sun anymore :(. But FINALLY having Helm Breaker-esque move on Yamato is a blessing.
Now I'm motivated...
Vergil weapons in dmc3: Yamato, Cerberus and Force Edge
Vergil weapons in dmc5: *chair*
I think you mean beowulf
Devil may Cry 3's sword sheathing effect is even more detailed than ps4's Dmc
Skill comparison
Dmc5 vergil holding the fuck back
Yea
Lunar Phase will always be my favorite kicking move in a game.
Yamato be like : *shring* *click*
Some of these are not 1:1 comparisons. Vergil lost his standard DT, unlike Dante, and only transforms with Sin DT. Trick from DMC3 doesn't even come close to the versatility of Air Trick.
My point is, this was an opportunity to show that things that no longer align ARE different. DMC3 DT could have been contrasted with Doppelganger (which IS the regular DT now) and Air Trick could have illustrated that DMC5 Vergil can do more with his default trick than DMC3 Vergil.
Old rapid slash and judgment cud look and sound way better 🔥🔥
maybe a dante and vergil comparison for dmc3?
I really miss the DMC3 Upper Slash animation (and the standing downward slash follow up).
The one from dmc3 is just iconic
I like the DMC V Vergil
0:02
it seems to me that vergil devil trigger really improved in DMC5 im impressed
1:29 HE SAID THAT!!!!!😍😍😍
5:22 👌
notice how DMC5 vergil always keeps his stance while sheathing the Yamato in the first couple of combos?
he also turns around for rapid slash this this time.
Even as powerful as Vergil will get old one day... His skills in 5 is not that aggressive as it was in 3...
Why is Vergil's air trick in 3 so high compare to 5?
Is old age kicking in?
Yep lol
It wasnt that high when i relooked at it. The camera for the 3rd one aimed up higher and was more under vergil so it seemed like he was more up in the air.
Thats why dmc3 vergil even falls to the ground before dmc5 vergil does.
You know how easy dmc 5 vergil would destroy his dmc 3 self?
DMC 3 has better cape physics then Assassin's Creed Valhalla
Omfg its like anything is better than that cashgrab piece of garbage
Vergil slick back hair is sharper in dMC5 for sure
HE SAID IT! HE SAID IT! VERGIL SAID "JACKPOT" *fangirl noises*
glad they still put the same sfx on yamato
I wish DMC 5 Vergil had a normal devil trigger. I'm not a fan of the whole doppelganger thing for his base DT activate tbh. Also a bummer none of the games have had the amount of costumes that DMC 3 gave you. That game had a shit ton including the Nelo Angelo transform 😔
I still prefer DMC 3 audio design, especially the one from my favorite move of the entire franchise, Judgement Cut.
Hell on Earth had a huge buff
I never thought Vergil would say “JACKPOT!” himself but I’m happy he did!😀
Dmc 3 Vergil's design is still the best
Vergils 3 and 4 devil trigger and voice lines is better than 5 to be honest, imagine 3 and 4' devil trigger and different DT per weapon were in dmc5's graphics
Just give the man his dmc3 force edge combo back. ..
the only noticeable difference between these vergils is the way we can get them:
The vergir of DMC 3 is achieved by beating the game in the definitive difficulty and the one of DMC 5 by buying it in the online store
how things changed 😥
But I still highly recommend this game.
