You could hear how young dante is in DMC3 because of the various "cool guy" lines like "breakdown", "down and out" "go to hell" and "rising dragon" and how old he is in DMC5 because it's mostly just dad grunts. Neat detail.

That's why i prefer 3, Dante is way more joyful there. You can listen a lot of his cheering on his combos, like when he silences agni & rudra, or does super-heavy grunting when doing the long Beowulf combo that ends with a "Sweet dreams...", or Cerberus' "*Bruce Lee imitation* Too easy!". And well, obviously and most importantly Rebellion's "Blast off! Haaaa!", "ha-ha-ha-ha BREAKDOWN", Dance Macabre's "Are you ready?!".
He has more personality in 3 than 4 and 5 because he's younger, in his prime, that's Dante in his purest, that's why i like him the most, so carefree without a shirt and only his coat.

I love how DMC3's DT looks "unstable" with all the electrical discharges and jittery aura compared to his older DMC5 self who's DT looks much more stabilized
that's really cool detail saying a lot of about Dante's age
I interpret Dante growing out his DT from looking "Sparda-like" into a DT form with more humanlike features as a sign of him having a better control over his devilish power, or as a sign that he clings his human qualities closely when he goes DT, or both.
I know they probably just want to feature the SMT artist's work, but I think it fits into Dante's growth.
That white thunder effect in DMC 3 is because the Super Costume, normal Dante doesn't have it

Even the exact same moves he did in that cutscene. And even what appears to be Dante's most powerful move, Judgement, is taken right from the intro of DMC1 when the narrator tells us that Sparda *WOKE UP TO JUSTICE* and Sparda is in the background doing crazy moves with the Sparda, same stuff that Dante does with Dante during the animations of that move
They actually intended the bike to be in 3 but due to limited time, and I would assume RAM, they had to cut it. Glad they fully realized the bike and even gave the ice chucks 3 elements in DMC5.
I love how for the idle animations, young Dante gets immediately bored then irritated, but old Dante does boomer stretches then falls asleep 😂

My impression is the developers wanted to subliminally emphasize the newer direction of preparing ourselves to have the option, and thus the need to swap weapons and skill sets...and/or dmc 5 Dante is over the bullshit and ready to smack Vergil so bad it doesn't need to be put away

@Narkomancers I have to agree on that. DMC 5 has better storyline and i don't like these nostalgia stuff. I can give many reasons but people just want to believe what they think so i'm not judging but definitely DMC5 for me.
Please note that it's not that i hate DMC3 story i think it's also wonderful.
DMC3 Rebellion was a huge as sword with a cool design. So cool in fact they used it for both the Anime and DMC4
My reaction upon seeing DMC5 Rebellion get shattered: "Look how they massacred my boy!"
But we did get the Devil Sword Dante, so i guess that's a fair trade.

The way DMC5 references things from DMC3 is actually UNREAL! I didn't realize the cerberus scene was so similar. and it's awesome that DMC5 dante got a weapon with moves that were based off of the motorcycle cut scene in DMC3. Also the new cerberus revolver and E&I rainstorm got a NICE new animation to it!
Dante is still having a lot of fun but is a lot more controlled and doesn't waste energy just to be more flashy without greater impact, shows just how much he matured from 3 to 5
In my head canon, he uses the Liechtenauer style of Fencing, this style is Aggressive and Momentum focused, it uses a lot of cuts and slashes but does use thrusts in long to mid ranges, attacks are both offensive and defensive measures, it also contains a lot of flashy techniques especially against passive or defensive fencers.
Ironically Liechtenauer warns about being too aggressive and bullish with attacks, or being too overconfident so I guess Dante learned that the hard way when he fought Vergil.
He conserves his energy to be flashier for longer

It's pretty well known voice actors often have to make grunts within a certain time length to match specific animations, but this made me realize that motion capture actors have to do the same kind of thing. Reuben had to copy himself for so many of these.
No matter how old he gets, there is nothing more everlasting than "eeeEEEEEYAH! Hahahahahaha BREAK IT DOWN!"

@@blyat8832 they are two different things, Air Raid is like flying you will stay in the air forever as long as you have DT. Glide just make you fall down slower

Is 5 stronger in the gameplay department? Oh, assuredly... the combat has some refinements and additions, but 3 (not even because of nostalgia, mind you) feels like, despite having fairly bland set pieces, it's more memorable because it at least doesn't have the areas blend together _as_ strongly as they do in 5.
I also feel like, while 5 had more meat to the story, it also revolves around "who's fighting Vergil next?" too much for its own good.
Let's not even start on Lady and Trish's roles...
TLDR: 5 is great, but I think 3 is a better game for its era.
@@VolatileViolet I couldnt agree with you more on DMC 5s story. I felt like it could have been a tad more refined in that aspect. 3 still feels the most well written and authentic story to the series. Not to mention just the environment feels very practical and organic, as though you really were progressing up the spire. It's also more authentically pleasing.
DMC3 actually saved the franchise...or at the very least restored it.

まだ魔人化出来るようになった直後の3ンテは魔力の供給を魔具に頼っている部分が大きいから魔具に応じて姿が変わる。
対して5ンテは魔人化に慣れてるし魔力の扱いも熟達しているから魔具が変わっても姿は変わらない。それどころか2の時には生命の危機に陥らないと変身出来なかった真魔人を自らの意志で扱えるようになった。

I'm actually fine with weapon specific DT's not coming back in a way. Mainly causes it shows how Vergil and Dantes Devil forms have matured to the point they aren't influenced by other demonic power, but yeah they erre cool to see.
@NetworkAsylum also when you shoot a downed enemy a bunch you get a crazy combo were dante puts his show on an enemy and shoots them for a while!

3's Stinger is more flawlessly animated since you can actually see Dante pick up Rebellion from his back. While in 5, Rebellion pops out on his hand first before throwing it over his head. Acting like he just pulled it from behind despite it's already on his hand.

In the Trial Version of DMC 3 was similar, but if you hold the attack button after the first rebellion attack, you can release a Quick Drive like DMC 4 or 5, they probably removed This from the final version because This move was absolutely Powerful and a little bit OP

It'd be really cool to see the "button mash" combos be back like in DMC3 rebellion combo b button mashing into a million stabs.
It would give us back the option of being more stylish and doing more damage at will

In my opinion with all the sword options they had you should've used the impale ability from dmc3, the traditional round trip for sparda, then the myiole round trip mini swords from DSD.
That way you could potentially use all those together.

While I do like the seamless transition from Stinger to Million Stab in 5, I do miss the visual and audio cue between the transition in DMC3. Gives it the “holy shit I did it” vibe.

In my opinion it's because back then he needed to use his internal magic energy to give himself a boost to finish the combo. He's stronger iand more experienced in 5 so he doesn't need to boost himself anymore. That also explains why his DMC5 version is a little shorter, due to less wasted energy.
It's to signify that it is a crazy combo move. All melee weapons have atleast one and most guns too i think.
Things is Dmc3 is Way better than Dmc5 already and has Better combat Combo immediately and all Better Moveset than Dmc5 Decided to changed moveset Rebellion Dmc3 to Pole When it was alot better than that I would prefer if Capcom Bring back the Old all Moveset Dmc 3 in Dmc6 already

Dmc3’s combos is easier than dmc5 and in dmc5 you have 3 characters and you have 4 styles and 4 weapons and 4 fire arms and you have much better bosses and Dante’s DT in dmc5 is better than Dmc3’s DT , even Dmc3 with style switcher and weapon switching it can’t beat dmc5 . I love Dmc3 but I can’t compared it with dmc5

Also i think dmc 3 had the beast sword master attacks which each sword master attack had a smash button that was pretty overpowered in my opinion for the weapons

i love how i mash buttons fast so it can change the combo like in ( real impact , dance macabre, or every single move in dmc3 almost all of them have crazy combos with mash buttons like in Gunslinger and enemy is down u can mash Circle with ebony and ivory to stomp the enemy while shooting) + i want the enemy ride back, i love when i can jump on the enemies back, i wonder why they removed it
You forgot to showcase how Dante's Devil Trigger looks with other swords equipped
I remember testing it out and he has a slightly different transformation when he's equipping a different weapon
As they say: "don't fix what isn't broken" and in my opinion they had down packed in DMC3
Dmc3 had more stylish animation and some good screenshake for certain moves.
There are a few skills that shows DMC5 Dante doing one less combo than DMC3 Dante does within the rotation. I wonder if this has to do with the age difference... 🥺 (Million, Macabre, Cerberus, etc)

@@angusdelaney905 I was referring to the DT itself (or rather, Air Raid), not Nevan herself. Believe me, I always use He/She pronouns for Devil Arms and get annoyed when people use It. Even with Beowulf, who may or not be actually dead.
DMC 5 Dante's Sin Devil trigger is the exact same form you can get in DMC 2 just slightly altered.

I know this is a nitpick, but I don't like that Rebellion combo B now has to end with million stab. I liked being able to do just the final slash in 3 after Dante finishes his roundhouse slash. I honestly don't know why that option was removed...
I really wish that Dante had different Devil Triggers with different weapons in DMC5
like, in DMC1 when he wielded Devil Sword Sparda his Devil Trigger looked like Sparda's demon form, not regular Dante Devil Trigger form
I could be buggin but it seems like young dante is more agile and springy in his movement and u can see older dante has more power and efficiency behind his movements
