My previous car was an X3 35 with M sport suspension and this one is soo much better to drive. You feel the quality not only in the touch but in the drive. Any excuse to take it for a spin.
Great review. Warning : in case you want the side bolster adjustment, do not order the ventilated front seats. You get the regular seats without these adjustments.
Stiffness easily fixable by changing stock runflat tires to normal (like Michelin pilot sport, they go to other BMW M models as stock). Day and night after, feels like new car, better car!
Honestly, the X3 should only have this engine. Makes it worth the extra money and feels like luxury vs the 2L turbo base. Makes an average car exciting and entertaining. Something hard to find in this segment. Also fully agree with you on the suspension. Not sure if they needed to go as harsh for the handling but it is noticeable
Thanks, good review. Interesting that you did not recommend the adaptive suspension as an option but appreciate your recommendation for executive and premium packages.
Nice I agree with most in this review except the ride it is really smooth it is even smoother then a Lexus RX 350. I looked/ test drove a lot of luxury vehicles recently all 2019’s and the only thing I felt was a little smoother was the Land Rover Velar it was also the only car that even came close to competing with the X3 M40i in my opinion. This truck is the whole package if you ask me.
Would help if you would mention the specific colors (interior and exterior) of the models you're reviewing as color choice can be an important factor in evaluating. Is this m40i exterior carbon black, black sapphire, dark graphite metallic? Also wheel size is important to mention, these look like the 19" wheels with all-season runflats.
Do you have any thoughts on the wheel size for wet weather tracking? Plus this crackling and backfire sound..how profuse is that? I test drove one car and love the feeling, but I just do not like backfiring sounds. Your thoughts/
USA G01 m-sport owners have been ranting about that steering wheel as it is not the sport wheel they are suppose to get. You just hit a nerve by featuring it!
Blake Swan - yeah something with the airbag not meeting USA specs. I have the same steering wheel yet it says “m sport steering wheel” right on my sticker.
I heard that they ran out of them.. very odd.. but I do believe some came with it. I believe you can also request it at your dealership and they'll swap it out for you
I had an 2013 X3 and now have a 2019 X3 M and it’s amazing they don’t compare!
picked mine up last week and absolutely delighted with it, I smile at just thinking about getting into it.
Martin Harman congrats!
Hows the ride quality?

does it have the adaptive dampers?
yes but as I have only taken it for local town driving it hasn't had an opportunity to show me the difference as yet.

Andre dG I hate when they do things like that. Shame you can't get both
Andre dG much rather have the bolsters than some air blowing on my back
Excellent review to the point!!
I chose ventilated seats on my 2019. Wish I had both.
Skip the Blind Spot Monitoring? That’s one of the best features on the newer cars, IMO.

Adaptive suspension was nice for going over speed bumps, couldn't really tell a difference other than that
Absolutely get the adaptive suspension if you want to have both a plush ride and a sports ride

Such a beauty
The 2020 X3M is about $85k, has 500+ hp. Would love to hear your review on it!.

keweenawbee wow did not know this. Interesting. Do other , markets get the proper sports wheel?
Blake Swan - yeah something with the airbag not meeting USA specs. I have the same steering wheel yet it says “m sport steering wheel” right on my sticker.
keweenawbee oh okay. That makes more sense.

Actually swapalease has a 2018 up for lease with an msport wheel
its stiff because of the run flats.
The wheels need to be bigger
