Car & Driver clocked 0-60 mph at 4.4 seconds. Consumer Reports recorded a 4.2 second 0-60 time. BMW's website says 4.6 seconds to 60mph. I've had mine for a week and those numbers are believable. You are going to be amazed. Traded in a S3 for it and the M40i feels like it is in a difference performance league. And I'm also a fan of Scott Smith and Trish.
What a long way BMW have come from the original X3. I had the privilege of having a good look over a new X3 in my local showroom a week back. Now to see what Alpina will come with in their version of this model.

I've just seen this video and only after I got my X3 M40i but I agree with everything that is said about the engine. I had an X3 M40d before and although I am getting 200 miles less range I am now addicted to the sound of the B58 engine!

Great video Joe! That exhaust is on point, as is the rest of the car! Don’t mind the interior but the exterior reminds me of an E36 330ci - I’m sure they had a very similar colour to this! Would go for the Phytonic Blue, black leather with blue stitching any day!

Great car - engine and exhaust and noise is exactly the same as a 340i and 440i with the MPPSK. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 M340i touring next year will be a better steer. Love the interior so looking forward to the M440i with 380bhp next year!!
Nice video guys, seems expensive compared to a regular saloon performance car (340i, S4 etc) - but seems like a smaller X5 so decent quality. Looks like the perfect 1 car garage option!

The paint on the X3 is called Sonnenstein, and the two-tone interior is Black-Fiona Red. Both are top spec cost options. Spared no expense, obviously. Oh, BTW: Yes, you can get BMW-TV in the X3.

It’s a fantastic car as I’ve just got one last week but only annoying thing is that in Canada and even US, we don’t have that M sports steering wheel. Instead we get the plain Jane X3 steering 😒
Currently the custom build configurator on the US website doesn't have the "BMW Individual" leather options that are available in the UK. I just ordered Phytonic Blue with Black Vernasca leather with blue contrast stitch and piping on 2/24 so that's what we're getting. If other options become available down the road then we'll consider trading in. Would be great if they had a red paint option with the two-tone leather.
Lovely looking car. I was on the fence with this and the SQ5 (slightly more to the Audi). Unfortunately BMW were disappointing. They couldn't find me one for a test drive. They said "but hey we have the standard X3 you can take out for a drive"🤔 absolute waste of my time. I was on the phone to Audi who said no problem we can have one in a couple of days. Took it for a spin and ordered one. The BMW is a beautiful car (not a beamer hater) sounds lovely to. But i certainly have no regrets ordering the SQ5 (both beasts of an SUV). If BMW would have pulled there finger out then who knows.
It does, but not for driving on British side of the road. I have a 240i xdive in canada and its very quick. With Michelin pilot alpine tyres its also very capable in extreme snow and ice conditions... Its been quite the winter here (snowed over a foot in 24h few times) and glad i have the xdrive.. can't wait for nice weather and get the supersports back on tho.
TRL BMW give me a good deal Tony and I’m in. Current M140i is only 12 months in with 7k on the car! I feel a good deal may be impossible at the minute but always open to offers 😎
we got carried away trying to make it different to be honest. I wanted the red inside because I am a tart, and we just wanted to avoid a dark colour on the outside as its better for the camera. it does look good in the flesh though!
Because it has an M Performance exhaust as standard. You can buy an MPE for the M140i and it will sound the same. My 440i has the MPPSK so the same tune and exhaust as the X3 M40i
UzzyFuzzyy BMW IS THE BEST there is no difference in this engine from the one in my car that has the M Performance Power and Sound Kit (BMW remap to 355bhp and a full switchable valved exhaust).
Well Joe the rest of the world with driving on the proper side of the road(lol) gets Mlights with xDrive and a 240ixDrive is closer to 4sec 0-60 than 5sec.. bmw makes lots of excuses like fuel quality and such but dino tests of any car with b58 shows power out put is usually 350+ hp and 400+torques so with a suv that doesn't compete with a M car its fine to give it a realistic power figure. Cool car tho can't wait for u to drive a Mlight with nice awd

Calum S my exact thoughts, both fast load luggers, although RS4 is faster and probably more planted. Cost is the thing that really separates these motors though as the spec on the X40i seems ok without spending shedloads more and discounts will be deeper on the BM than on an RS Model. Go onto the Audi configurator and you can soon find you’re gonna have to sell your kids as the sky is the limit on extras.

How does it compare to GLC 43, SQ5 and F Pace? I am expecting to get one of the 3, think the GLC is the most likely but need to try them all.
