Indeed. Thanks for weighing in. I've been running this in the new patch and it's frickin' amazing. Basically farming festering woods and the surrounding areas over and over. I teleport around to pick up a ton of mobs and create choke points with Black Ice. I regularly get 200 mob kill bonuses.
Wow, I love this build :) Playing around with other classes cause I'm bored of my main, never really played Wiz with a proper build so this is the first one I use. I wanted to play with a frost/ice build but NOT CM cause everyone are using it and it looks really boring. This build seems really effective (even with my shitty gear that I've picked up from the ground), is really fun and relaxing to play, and I can see it getting buffed in the future with the improved items coming up!
the %cold dmg on tal's and stone are considered general "elemental damage" i.e. not factored into the cold blooded buff and frostburns.... essentially. the %cold damage just gives an overall dmg increase and provides the proc for that element. I.E. chance to slow/freeze.
Im logging on so i can give this build a shot, seems like if you stack crit damage and cold damage it could be a really effective build. I think this is good for people that play wizards, the traditional CM/Archon is getting really boring.. and m paragon is so high that i don't think its worth playing any of my other characters. This brings some excitement back to playing a wizard. Nice job
Great build. I copied the build (using Wormhole instead of Hydra) and I've had a good deal of success with mine. I'm currently doing Alkaizer runs in mp2 for fast paragon leveling, but I've farmed keys in mp6 as well with much success. My current dps is 92k unbuffed, using a RoF soj and 6/30 Frostburns. I'm nearly a paragon 36, but it won't update on Diabloprogress for whatever reason. Thanks a lot for sharing this build!
No, the Cold Blooded passive also applies to *chilled* targets, not just frozen targets. As the creator of the video mentions, swapping out Astral Presence would be useful. Depending on one's gear, Glass Cannon would indeed be helpful. Also, if you have enough APoC and CC on your gear, you could probably do away with Power Hungry as well.
Hey man Thanks for the vid. Im still having a little bit of problems running any mp atm. But i murder without any mp on. Something Ive found is i use frost nova with shatter instead of magic weapon. I guess the reason why is I run into the middle of them hit frost nova spawn a hydra and hit blizzard. It works well with shatter. But yeh great vid. But i think i try magic weapon for a bit. Thanks man.
Other than some survivability issues and keeping mobs on the black ice (especially when out in the open), I haven't had too much trouble with the build. I usually need to kite, so will have enough AP to get in some damage before needing to kite again. I really wish RoF passed through mobs, BTW. I should note I didn't really go out of my way to get different gear for the build, though. Overall, I'm glad to see unique builds like this showcased, but for now, I'm still having the most fun in CM.
Very nice build. I always hate seeing cookie cutter CM and Archon builds and I have created something similar to this. Two thumbs up for breaking away from the pack. +1
With a Skorn you don't even need Tal Rasha's set for the regen and the blizzard duration source isn't that important either I'd say. I swapped out Storm Armor and Familiar for Teleport and Diamond Skin and I love my wiz again! Definitely not the fastest MP0 farming build out there (not that you advertise it as such) but it sure is fun to use, thanks for the inspiration!
Been using this build for a few weeks now and I love it, my damage is only 97k and my resists are a little lower then those shown in the vid so I stay in MP3 but farm it efficiently. Like Jesper Andersen said though, I too get torn up by Reflect Damage Elites, generally when I run into them I drop my Venom Hydra, Blizzard and then hang back and hope for the best. =P
I have been using a similar build to this one for a while trying to find ways to make it work. The biggest issue I have run into is self dependence on AP consistency. In my testing I have noticed Ray of Frost (and its pools from black ice), Blizzard, and Frost Nova (Frozen Mist) all do not crit. Critical mass, for some reason, will register a crit off them, but the damage isn't there. APoC seems to not count off the crits either. I have had in the upwards of 50% CC and APoC 20 with no AP return.
I have misspoken. Pickup Radius Does not affect Stark Weather Note to self: Don't record a video before your morning coffee. Pickup radius acts as a way to ensure your health and arcane power are staying topped off.
Great build. Im currently using it on my wizard for farming low MP's (0-3). Sad to see that while this is still viable for higher MP's it won't replace the CM build in terms of survivability :/
If you pay attention to where you're standing you don't need a lot of that stuff. I've gotten to the point where I know when to move and when to pick up health globes....I very rarely die. I'd say I die about the same amount as when I was playing archon, but more than when I was running CM
Currently running this build as a work in progress- super fun tho! Pretty much melt everything on mp1 (like I said, still gearing up ;) ), but still super squishy. Any thoughts on whether a really powerful set of archon gloves can over power the frost burns?
hi, first of all, I watched the video without sound. Knowing this, if you didn't speak about it, what about "chilling aura" from the frost armor ? Does the perimeter of the aura too small ? May it give "cold blooded" buff easily for certain situation ?
Would Ice Armour with Chilling Aura be effected by pick up radius? If so, I think that maybe it could replace Storm Armour. Is there any reason as to why not?
ok, it is fun and also squishy. how about the HC players ? :) since SC is kinda of dead for most of us. on HC for the moment you could say there is still economy and the thrill - adrenaline pump when you know you only die ONCE. so... how about HC ? any thoughts. Thanks!
How efficient is this build towards Reflect Damage elites? I actually made a similar wizard build but he doesn't have any way of surviving against reflect damage, except for Crystal Shell instead of teleport, but sometimes you need teleport, sometimes you need shell, it kinda depends on the situation unfortunately... Thanks
On top of that I just noticed you killed some Reflect Damage guys, what is your life drain source to go on top of that? I have Blood Magic on my Magic Weapon and a main hand weapon with 2.70% life steal and it's not enough to survive
The biggest problem I see with this build is that it makes your farming way slower than some other builds, since you are running backwards the way you came a lot. For effective farming you dont want to engage, then move backwards.
Ive seen similar builds that take Meteor with Comet rune instead of the Familiar. Is it a good idea? (probably not) Also is it worth going crit/crit dmg/atk speed on this build?
Where does it say that blizzard radius is increased by your pickup radius? It didn't look any bigger than normal size (other than the fact you used the rune that increased aoe)
Please though, if you have or do discover anything through testing this out, let me know. It is driving me crazy that I cannot seem to make this build work without being highly Dependant on enemies dropping orbs.
OK i take back my last comment I've been running mp 5 on act 1 collecting keys frost nova is nice but magic weapon is better lol. I do ok but still dying here and there but i assume thats just part of the game. Wouldnt be alot of fun if you could just breeze thru everything lol. But again frost nova did help in lower difficulties but not for inferno. Thanks for the build.
The term synergy comes from the Greek word synergiameaning "working together". You mean to tell me there is no synergy between blizzard, RoF black ice and cold blooded? I assure you there is .Cold blooded provides a damage buff to chilled targets. Blizzard activates cold blooded on a mass amount of enemies (it is an AOE) and slows them. RoF gets buffed by cold blooded BECAUSE of blizzard. That's not even getting into synergy between passives and gear. Thanks for playing please try again.
Interesting. However I have a pretty decent Archon gear set as well as a CM Freeze gear set, and every other class leveled to at least paragon 20.. Sooooo.. Not too sure I'd do this. Way too much going on already. Still pretty neat to see "off spec" specs, or non-cookie cutter? Whatever.
I'd say it is a lot more fun. I die every now and then, but I've gotten used to the play style so it doesn't happen very often at all. In terms of efficiency it is hard to say. Some packs I'm faster with black ice and some I'm faster with CM. Though a decent cm set will cost you a lot more than a black ice set.
Actually RoF will buff itself via Cold Blooded after the first tick ;) Blizzard and RoF still work together pretty well though. Still, I don't know why the Frost Hydra is there, you already have Blizzard as a lasting source of cold damage, with much more impact. Should be replaced with Teleport, really.
Nice build outside the mainstream box. Your weapon average damage 889 no sock. Since you mention IAS is not that important it's not expensive to find a 900+ Mace LS OS. Drop the intl and low CD on weapon for sock and higher base damage IMO. With a 100k dps SOJ is not really that effective. If the chill on hit is not what u need from it then perhaps a ring with 40+ average damage would be optimal. Overall I'm impressed.
Ok, interesting build. But its not better than cm. Try to kill fast elites packs like demonic tremor or phasebeast on high mp (mp7 4 example)...then you will see my point.
This is awesome! Finally a build that actually looks and feels like a sorceress.
- Frost wizard [x]
- Fire wizard [ ]
- Lightning wizard [ ]

awesome, man, thanks for the upload. It's nice to see an alternative to CM or Archon.
I'm glad you're enjoying the build!

Good work, man. Subbed. I will have to try this once I get back into my D3 groove, which I plan to do.
No problem. Glad you're enjoying it!
I liked the build. Had fun with it. Thanks for sharing!
Great spec! I had no clue how to approach a cold based spec and this works great even at lvl 57 :D Can't wait to test it with some lvl 60 gear
the %cold dmg on tal's and stone are considered general "elemental damage" i.e. not factored into the cold blooded buff and frostburns....

Interesting build and cool to see that some people still think outside the box. Can't compete with CM though.

with frostburn frost hydra gets about a 100% increase in it's dmg, plus it makes monsters chilled --> more dmg because of cold blooded
Very nice build. I always hate seeing cookie cutter CM and Archon builds and I have created something similar to this. Two thumbs up for breaking away from the pack. +1

Nice build, it makes playing Wizard more fun. Traded Hydra for Diamond Skin though, for more survivability :)
THanks for the vid, going to give this a shot, subscribed.

Using your build on mp7 with 170k dps. Makes using my Wiz much more fun!
im using this build. only with comet instead of hydra and diamond skin instead of storm armor. ii do 206k sheet dps. love it man!!
Currently running this build as a work in progress- super fun tho! Pretty much melt everything on mp1 (like I said, still gearing up ;) ), but still super squishy. Any thoughts on whether a really powerful set of archon gloves can over power the frost burns?
nice i like to mix up diablo and play some harder builds and not go with the norm this build looks fun!
would love to see some P.O.E. vids
-Hermees-
I'm not sure if 30% increased cold damage is better than nicely rolled trifecta with high intelligence.
also are you going to be getting a streaming scheduled? id love to play some POE with ya.
nice build man
NoobistColony, have you considered perhaps stacking arcane power on crit for AP sustain instead of relying on health globe drops? Just a thought.
I like this spec, it reminds me of my soceress in D2..
Hey man. I like this build. But how do u handle reflect dmg and jailers?
Have you tried a cold damage weapon or a weapon such as Fragment of Destiny that has adds to cold damage just like the Frostburns?
hi, first of all, I watched the video without sound.
Knowing this, if you didn't speak about it, what about "chilling aura" from the frost armor ? Does the perimeter of the aura too small ?
May it give "cold blooded" buff easily for certain situation ?
I support any efficient build that finally tries to go beyond "IMA FIRING MA L4Z0R"-Archon and "WHO NEEDS TACTICS PERMASTUN DERP"-CM/WW!
Would Ice Armour with Chilling Aura be effected by pick up radius? If so, I think that maybe it could replace Storm Armour. Is there any reason as to why not?
very nice build help me a lot :)

what about teleporting and vortex? especially if they are a combo with jailer. do you just hope to live thru the damage to continue to kite?

the only cold item you want is the frostburns
how much did it cost to make this build? bored of my monk and barb and looking for something fun to do and this seems like it to me
Please though, if you have or do discover anything through testing this out, let me know. It is driving me crazy that I cannot seem to make this build work without being highly Dependant on enemies dropping orbs.

do this build work in hc ? i just want to change a spell for a deff spell. which one i can switch? (sorry for my bad english)

why dont you use the venom hydra? should work 10x better than frost hydra
is it possible to make a budget build for this
your pickup radius is high enough that you are getting globes all the time so you rarely die
u never upload swtor anymore?
wizards teleport has a cooldown??
Actually RoF will buff itself via Cold Blooded after the first tick ;)
Blizzard and RoF still work together pretty well though.
Still, I don't know why the Frost Hydra is there, you already have Blizzard as a lasting source of cold damage, with much more impact. Should be replaced with Teleport, really.
Can you link ur item build ?
This is not what you calll a build, this is a collection of abilities that all deal cold damage. Not any synergy amongst them.
Can you link to your char please?

why werent u in a3 on mp?
Come back!
Frozen passive is no use seens there never frozen without Frost nova -_- use glass cannon insted or something thats usefull
ohhh okay... thx.. but then there is not many items that has cold skill dmg:/
Ok, interesting build. But its not better than cm. Try to kill fast elites packs like demonic tremor or phasebeast on high mp (mp7 4 example)...then you will see my point.
yo noobcolony, this build sure great but say goodbye too effcient mp10 lol cm all the way

Fun build but cm and archon stll better.. Here u gotta kite.. Thats annoying to me
Is this guy dead he didn't make a vid
I'm not dead yet.
Yay
@@thenoobistcolony now?
@@dickcheese5014 maybe
aww proble of wizard need everytime runn
you know the game is boring when he has to keep cutting during the combat footage
this build seems terrible compared to archon/cm
I doubt you will get ANYWHERE with this spec at MP 10 lol, one of the worst specs I've seen in my life.
