- Here's a guide (part1) for the Double Tornado build!
To watch the whole guide : • Diablo 3 - Double Torn...
us.battle.net/d...
For the beginner version, replace Overpower with Leap/Iron Impact.
You can also find a Gearing guide here : • Diablo 3 - Gearing Gui... or see the build in action here : • Diablo 3 - Barbarian K...
Pros :
- Fun
- Tank Inferno with a very low budget (less than 1M for Act3)
- Good DPS (About 400% of the damage stats per second when done right)
- CC Immunity (aka Frozen/Jailer/Vortex/... immunity) since you can keep Wrath of the Berserker up for longer than its cooldown.
- Run super fast = farm faster.
Cons :
- Hard to get used to.
- Hard/lower damage versus kiting mobs.
There's a few subjects I didn't talk about, but I'll cover them in Part 2. Remind me of things I may have forgotten in the comments.
What a classic guide. Thanks for making this, it changed the way i played D3 back in the day. The game has changed so much since then!
jus wanted to say thank you dino for this build. I have been farming act 3 with the standard sword and broad. I tried your build and it has made farming so much easier. once again, thank you, you are a genius.
Thanks again Dino for continuing to update this build with guides. I look forward to more strats on killing different elite packs.
Shift is usually to attack without moving (force attack). With WW, it allows you to spin without having to click on an enemy, so Shift+LClick will make you move (like regular Left Click) with WW on.
You don't have too, you can activate WW by clicking on an enemy too, but Shift allow you to use WW while cliking next to an enemy, or even away, if you need to flee.
Hey dino, i use this build all the time and followed your guides from start, and havent had as much fun as i do with it, thx man :)
A lot of ppl are telling me this, but I don't see the problem personally, I'm fine in the keeps. Corridors are large enough to do a big circle, and you can't get blocked by enemies since you can spin through them with WW (use Shift+Click to spin-move, helps a lot). What am I forgetting?
(Wallers elites are more dangerous in the Keeps though, agreed)
hey Dino, ive found that using Revel rune for Overpower is actually pretty good for healing AND generating fury. When you use overpower on a small group of mobs, you generate fury from battle rage when it crits
yeah you're so right man. I tried it that night and laughed it made such a huge difference. I felt twice as powerful easily. Also I switched to overpower, SO much better than leap. Genius.
your the man dino! your build has gotten me too seigebreaker in act 3 inferno. Just beat him and going to finish the rest of the act today. thanks!
Actually, you can spawn twice as many tornadoes per Sprint with the added movement speed from Hurricane. And those tornadoes heals you with the LoH, so you end up getting healed more than with Blood Funnel. :)
The War Cry change isn't actually a big one since the monster damage are reduced too. But they are nerfing Sprint's proc coefficient a lot! Tornadoes will now only use 8% of the Life on Hit instead of 20% D:. WotB is also harder to keep up.
I tested it on the PTR and the build still works with my current stuff though, even without any change. I'll try making a video about this soon, and then a new gearing guide once 1.0.5 is out. (Life Steal becomes more interesting now, among other things)
I found that if I use overpower instead of leap, I use the rune for war cry that generates 60 fury instead. Since you don't really need a lot of resistances since you'll be healing everything back, it's good to have a skill that is up every 30 seconds that just automatically gives you 60 fury if you're running low
Since it reflects the damage back that you take and since you have a ridiculous amount of life on hit, that reflected damage counts as a hit so it gives you life back. It'll give you more life back than it will take so therefore, it heals you
It's complicated. :P
Weapon's Master give you a bonus depending on your mainhand's type, so you can use anything as your offhand.
Sprint always use the mainhand's damage, so you can ignore the DPS on the offhand. But it sometimes use the mainhand's speed, sometimes the offhand's. So having a fast offhand does boost Sprint, but its damage are ignored (thus it uses the mainhand's damage with the offhand's speed, which can be pretty OP!)
Make sure you are "refreshing" Sprint often enough and keep an eye on Battle Rage, it must stay up too.
Just finished the game using this build, Amazing!! Wouldn't have done it without Dino!
AS helps a lot since you gain fury and get healed more often. About 1.5 attack/second or more is fine though, so you don't need that much. (Some can even farm Act 3 with 1.3, but more LoH/Armor to make up for it)
Dino- tip for you- once you have good enough gear that you are pretty much never worried about dying- swap nerves of steel for Berserker. If you can handle the loss of armor, you will get a 30% dps whenever 3 enemies within 8 yards.. I'm at 40k hp, 2300 LoH, 650 allresists, 6k armor, 48% crit, 1.87 APS, +18% run speed. Without berserker I do 23kdps, but with berserker and wrath I do 37k dps. I'm almost permanently in wrath (thrive on chaos). Let me know what you think :)
Not sure I understand the question.
When your fury is low, you have to avoid using WW. But once it's full, if there's enough enemy, you can just keep WW pressed and spin around until they die. Don't forget to Sprint.
With 4 tornadoes spawned, Sprint generate more.
Also sometimes vs a single enemy I have to stop WW for a few sconds when it go down to ~30% to make sure I have enough to keep on Sprinting.
Kk guys you use battle rage with the increase fury regen, you use sprint with run like the wind so the tornados do aoe dmg to mibs behind you, the tornados generate HUGE fury and you use that to spam more tornados when usin WW
Wow, ! tried to get it to work and was struggling but now i got more appropriate gear and tactic, and one thing to say. THANK YOU. u made diablo 3 fun again omg. its so fun and so much dps with the right crit and crit dmg. switched some skills tho. went with the passive wich generates fury each sec since i find it hard go gain fury before wielding dmg. a little hint for u guys, never let tornados go off. its what keeps ur fury up. thx again mate =)
Check out the gearing guide in description. :)
Afterward (once you got more than 800k), you want to add some Strength in addition to the vitality/res on every basic piece of armor. Then get a bit more DPS on your mainhand. Maybe an offhand with Crit Damage AND a socket for more crit damage. Some LoH in the amulet in addition to the Crit Chance (super expensive though). Some Crit chance on the helm too maybe.
Excellent! I have a farm monk and am making a barb specifically for this build..I hope it doesn't get nerfed.
Overpower's CD reduction comes from crit hits not fury generation, each CH has a chance to lower its CD by 1 second. WotB does not get a CD reduction but a duration boost. Yes it is based off of fury generation, for every 25 fury you generate you gain one second to the duration of WotB so you want to keep spending fury and keep moving so you generate more.
Well, in Act 3 for example, I take huge amounts of damage, if I just walk to a pack of monsters they kill me in 5 seconds tops. But once the tornadoes are out I heal even faster than that. Make sure you have enough LoH and attack speed, spawn all the tornadoes correctly and have enough armor/res/life to avoid gettign "oneshot"
Added the build to the description.
For the gear, I use different stuff in different parts of the videos. :P In Act 2, I use the stuff I bought in the Gearing guide (you can see the stats there). Fights were a bit long for the video, so I switched to my regular gear for the Act 3 parts.
Stats : Life 45k, Armor 5k, Resistances 440-500, Crit Chance 41%, Crit Dmg +277%, Life per Hit 2k, 1.66 Attack/second, Strength/Vitality/Dexterity/Intelligence 1100/1100/60/200, DPS 22k
So, everytime you get hit by desecrator, you reflect 30% of it to the boss who casted it, which is considered a "hit", so you get healed by 33% of your LoH, about 600 in my case.
Thing is, Desecrator is a very fast dot. Dunno how much damage it does each second, let's say 10 000. It actually ticks every 0.01 seconds for 100 damage (fake numbers but something like that). So, every 0.01s, Desecrator inflict 100 damage, I reflect it, LoH kick in and I get healed for 600 -> +500HP. :D
Practice in Act 1 (dense area like cimetery of halls of agony) or even Hell for a bit, you'll be able to get the hang of it without having to pay tons of gold in repair costs. Then you can come back to act 2 and beat it easily, hopefully. :)
U have to be under the influence of battle rage (the rune that gives you 15 fury per critical hit), then your tornadoes will make enough hits, which leads to enough critical heats, which goes straight to filling up your fury globe
APS is a great boost since LoH heal you more often and you get more chances to generate fury each time you Sprint.
But 1.44 is fine (or almost :p), I only had 1.55 for a long time. Try getting an ASI bonus on your gloves and on one ring if you can.
Battle Rage : Into the Fray (that's where all of the fury come from)
I have full fury in town at the beginning of the video cause I switched to the Unforgiving passive, to be able to show how Sprint generate tornadoes, the circle, etc ... Switched back to my regular passives after that. ^^
Yep, Battle Rage(Into the Fray) = Each crit can generate 15 fury. Sprint hit a lot of times, so lot of opportunities to generate 15 fury, + high crit chance -> insane fury generation. :)
I have never used overpower, probably cause of not being capable of using so many keyboard buttons at once :DDD, (instead of it, I have frenzy with +20% damage rune), so the new patch didn't affect me and it works as same as it did before. What Im afraid of are the new auction house prices, which increased to enormous heights (f.e. quite good weapon cost 15m+), but this theme belongs to another topic. Great guide, dino, perhaps i would be glad if I see the new gear guide you're using at this tim
the best build. thanks DINO. im now easily Roflstomping act 3 and 4.
Firstly, thank you very much for sharing. You are my hero. Barbarians are about getting into the middle of monsters and whirlwinding the crap out of all of them. I am slowly learning and getting better, but I have this problem with treasure goblins, they like to run to a corner and I find it hard to kill them, I already have 19k dps. Can you please make a video showing how to kill a treasure goblin, espiecially how to run to successfully allow the tornados to hit him when he is in a corner.
Yeah, WW use the offhand for half of the hits. But that's a very small part of the DPS so it's not that important, I'd take an offhand with 20% more crit damage over one with 400 more DPS.
WW does 110% DPS (and only half of that use the offhand), while sprint does 60% per tornado, up to 240% if all 4 are hitting.
you need to search for an option which is specifically for MOVE, not move with primary attack etc. try and search that carefully
Yeah, 640 is great, mine is in the 600s too (can't remember how much exactly) and when I beat the game (before difficulty nerf) I only had a 570dps one.
I use +70% Critical Hit Damage (emerald) gems, great DPS boost, but if you are having problems surviving LoH gems (amethyst?) are a good alternative.
Dualwielding is best imo. Sprint ignore the offhand's DPS, so get as much LoH/Strength/CritDamage as you can, even if you end up with a 250dps weapon, your Damage stat will go down but it's wrong!
Thanks. :)
Works fine for me in coop but I'm playing with a monk and another barb so we are all melee. I heard it can be annoying with ranged friends, since part of the mobs will run away from you to go attack them, instead of staying near you and in your tornadoes.
Yeah, goblins are hard, but with 35k dps you should be able to get them.
Try getting a few monsters to follow you before engaging, and when you're Sprinting after the goblin, you'll get your fury back when the tornadoes hit the monsters following you. :)
Just wanted to say I put this build together with a bit less than 180k. I'll show screenshots of my stats. I don't think I can record without lagging like mad, but if I do, I'll post a response & whotnot.
Wanted to say that this is probably the cheapest & most effective build for a Barb in Inferno.
Sprint's tornadoes, mainly (thanks to the Life on Hit on items, since tornadoes hit enemies a lot of times. Ideally, I could get healed for 1280% of my LoH per Sprint... per enemy!
(I'll be less most of the time since not all 4 tornadoes will be hitting all enemies, but it's still huge. ^^)
Yeah, getting hit can be slow, but it's a lot faster if you managed to do a few basic attacks first. You can't do a basic attack if you have more than 8 fury though, so you can only do 2 attacks, if you start from 0 fury.
Use left click, it'll basic attack instead of WW when you have less than 8.
Yeah, there's a bug with whirlwind apparently, but it only affect a few ppl. Never got disconnected using it. I think there's a few talks about it on the support forums.
For starter, it should regenerate fast. Do you have 40% crit? Did you check if the way you run does spawn 4 tornadoes? Don't forget to have Battle Fury, with Into the Fray rune, on.
As for dying fast, well, again maybe you aren't spawning 4 tornadoes, or you don't have enough LoH/attack speed (need 1300 and 1.55attack/s for Act 3, eg.), or don't have enough armor/res (5k, 450 for act 3. More if you don't use Overpower/Leap).
Should be fine with your stat, LoH maybe a bit low, swap your emerald for an amethyst on weapon or get some attack speed.
Try Leap instead of Bash, easier than Overpower and a nice defense boost.
Oh and btw if you use tough as nails instead of nerves of steel it might give you more armor it gives me 350 more armor than using nerves of steel unless u have a lot of vitality thanks again i hope it works when i try it
thank you. I wasn't expecting such an appropriate polite response =D
Salut mon ami, your build is in my opinion way better than Kripps build.
He showed us his equipment which might cost about 300 Mill on the europe auction house. You said you can do act 3 with 800k. Can u give us some tipps on buying the right equipment?
Would be cool ;)
Cheers
DiNo, can you please show us your exact spec? I just want to see what runes you are using, and passives. If you could link in the description or something? Thanks!!
Nice! Good to know my barb just hit 34!!! hope to be 60 by friday!! thanks for the reply and take care!!
I use Overpower (and used leap) for the defense boost, to be able to tank inferno with only 5k armor/500 resists, and furious charge doesn't help with that. If you can get... I guess 7k armor and 700 resist, you can take something else, furious charge isn't bad.
OK, clearly I am doing something wrong, or did Blizzard patch this? I am unable to generate any fury while doing this. I have the sprint going and it is generating the tornadoes, but my fury isn't going up. Do I just need fury per hit on my weapons?
i really like the video, i use a different variant of the ww sprint, but ill try out yours tonight to get the feel from it. just a random question i like your accent where are you from?
this build is definitely more fun than i thought haha :)
Only difference : You can't use the Thrive on Chaos and Impunity runes. So you won't be able to keep WotB up permanently (and have lower res) and might have to skip jailer/frozen/...
Apart from that it should work the same. :)
The build you have posted has ignore pain instead of battle rage thats where my issue is i think that is why its not working i will try this when i get home and give you an update thank you
The damage reflection can't generate fury but I'm pretty sure it already couldn't before (probably can't crit on a damage reflection since it's a fixed amount)
Watch your fury closely, stop WW immediately if you get under 50 and only use Sprint until you get back to 100, you shouldn't get fury starved even if they kite a lot, that way. Shouldn't be a problem apart from that, they'll die eventually, except maybe with annoying affixes like Molten/Teleporter/Waller/Arcane. In they got that, run! :P
I'll probably keep it even with the nerf actually (which show how much the rune was indeed overpowered :P).
I still need the damage reduction with my low armor/res, and it seems to be the best one overall. Leap reduces damage better but got a lot of downtime, same for Ignore pain (but even worse).
Threatening shout is up all the time and the slowing rune is pretty cool against kiting mobs, so that's a possibility. But only 20% vs 35%.
Best pure defensive one is still Overpower/Crushing Advance.
LoH is extremely important. I have 701, and it still rarely keeps me up. Also, I noticed on several occasions where sprint will not release tornadoes, although it activates.
Hey Dino i know you must be busy answering questions with this build because It's getting so popular(Congrats!). I been using this build like how kripparian uses it...With bash on my left click Instead of whirlwind and the bash is replacing Overpower. I would really like to use whirlwind with my left click and sprint on right click and use overpower. The only problem i ...
It's a player issue practice more I leveled with it from 40-60 and in one day am in act 3 inferno. I don't have crazy LoH and am more straight up damage I do need to improve the gear for act 3 to be comforable as my damage is high resists and vit low but the build is definately viable and very fun.
I dont think it will get nerfed just because not everyone can do this build. it takes a while to run the cool downs properly and approach a group the right way and most people just want to one click things until they stop moving.
I had a strange experience with a reflect damage boss lately too, wondering if there's a infinite reflection loop bug or something ^^'. But I didn't find another similar boss yet, still looking for one to see if it's the same.
Thanks. Thats a pretty comprehensive reply. I am still struggling in act 3 against some elite packs, but I think I just need to stack some more loh and defensive stats. Really good build. 1 more question. Does whirlwind take into account the offhand weapon damage? If so, I guess a good offhand weapon would still be pretty useful as long as it has crit damage and loh.
Wrath of the Berserker makes you immune to CC skills like Jailer (and as you can see after 2:55, I can increase its duration as much as I want thanks to Thrive on Chaos rune)
Actually, those goblins have Jailer, and Nightmarish too! You can see enchantress getting jailed, but it doesn't work on me.
Apparently skill calculator links changed, so the build in the description was wrong (since when?).
Updated
A (very) few ppl are getting disconnected when they use WW apparently :/. Don't know if there's a fiw yet, there's a few topics on the support forums about this, check it out.
This is just brilliant, so clear and detailed explanation, you are extemely good, I was only wondering if this build is meant to work in coop mode too, any help please?
Dino, me again, so when did you decide to swap away from blood funnel? Wouldn't the 1% life heal for each crit make a huge impact on survivability? I'll try the hurricane rune later today to see the difference, I'm just suprised logically that it works as well
I just started trying out the Leap version of this build. It's really hard to get used to at the start but it is really fun!
Question: How important is APS? Currently I only has ASI bonus of 5% which give me 1.44 APS when I am using a mace and a sword. Should I get more ASI?
Whirlwinding doesnt heal that much : Each time WW hit an enemy, you are healed for 13% of your LoH (there's a lot of hit though).
Most of the healing come from sprint : Each time a tornado hit, you get healed for 20% of your LoH. Each tornado can hit up to 17 times with my attack speed though, so that's 340% LoH per tornado (x4 tornadoes). Per enemy hit. :)
Hi Dino Great gear...
But I have some questions...Which is your rune in Battle rage and second why do you always have full Fury in Town...When you cant generate some of it...
Makes sence, get up to 10k DPS, 50k HP close to 1000 Resist All, then retry. PS. The last set (around 1/4 his health) he will 1 shot you every time when he does the poison AOE explosions. at 50+k health its around a 2 - 3 shot lol.
Train a bit more and act 2 will be easy. Maybe train in Act 1 for now to avoid having big repair bills.
thanks for this. I still need to get a hang of it. what is the ruin for Leap?
CAll of arrest? or Iron impact?
i guess it doesn't matter?
Watch the full Act 3 run (check my playlists) where I only kill elite packs one by one then. ^^
(PS : I skip a few packs, but that was 1.0.2, I can take on 100% of the packs since the difficulty nerf)
WW tornado build will be missed!, the best build that i ever played before! :(
Yeah but you need an high DPS (~25k).
You gotta make a few monsters (or a lot...) following you before engaging the goblin. Then when you Sprint after him, they'll get hit by the tornadoes while following you, so you'll get your fury back.
Hold CTRL while hovering. So useful
Dino, are you able to beat every elite/champ act 3 and above with the current gear you have? And what is the minimum loh to have to survive? Hard hitting mobs like the big rock monster elites/champs are hard for me to survive. I have (with buff) -
993 vit,1.4k str, 30k dps, 7.5k armor
aps 1.64, chc 46% chd 293%
750 AR, loh 1.5k
Does your offhand weapon affect your crit chance? And are your tornados affected by your attack speed? I used to have a dagger as my offhand for attack speed, so my life on hit and fury on crit were increased, but wasn't sure if I was still getting the full 10% critical hit chance bonus from weapon master.
thanks for the guides! it is fun, though difficult to get used to at first.
i have troubles with elite mobs having Shielding and/or Invulnerable though. do you have any suggestions for that?
I find it extremely hard to fight in rooms with this build .. especially levels like the keeps 1-3 in act 3 ... :(
Hmm I don't use that anymore, I just use
Bash - Instigation
Whirlwind - Hurricane
Wrath Of The Berserker - Thrive On Chaos
War Cry - Impunity
Battle Rage - Into The Fray
Sprint - Run Like The Wind
49% crit chance before wrath of berzerk, 570 all res before buff, only 4.4k armor :/
but as long as I keep wrath of the berserker up in act 3 (really easy considering how often I crit)
Wrath of the Berserker makes me immune to CC (jailer,frozen,nightmarish,knockback,vortex,...) and I can keep it up for several minutes with Thrive on Chaos, longer than its cooldown.
Yeah, probably :(.
The Sprint + Battle Rage core stay though, so it'll "just" make desecrator/plagued/molten... a bit harder (I played without Crushing Advance when I first beat Inferno anyway so it does work without it, but it's harder).
Hey notanothertrolol you have to go to gameplay options and turn on elective mode then you can change all your skills to other buttons
Hey great guide helped me out alot, just wondering on how important attack speed is and how much roughly do i need?
I have about +300%. For some parts of the guide I used my 1M gold budget gear though, with which I have a lot less.
Have you considered Overpower Skill Rune - Killing Spree?? It gives 10% crit chance for 6 seconds.
This is a great build, i just made one change in the skill build, instead of leap or overpower to initiate, i used furious charge with stamina rune so i start with almost full fury. What do you think??
no, you need to activate battle rage with the rune that gives 15 fury for each critical hit you do.
many thanks! i shall try again tonight..
@DiNo2909 oh that makes perfect sense! I didn't see that in the tool tip.
1.0.4 patch:
Overpower Skill Rune - Crushing Advance Can no longer trigger On Hit procs
Does it mean no more healing in Ghom clounds, desecrator pools and so on?
