Wish this would have been in the original game when it came out, but they're updating everything right now which is pretty awesome. At least they are making things better. RoS is a step in the right direction and I hope they keep improving this game!
Way to go, blizzard. just like you did with Diablo 2. You're listening to us. You're fixing the economy, you're dropping the AH, you're making it more focused on building YOUR character... Thank you!
I honestly if those numbers are exact - let's say their theory is practice - there is less items to sell for gold so it is harder to pay for transmog and such. It will be interesting to see how this all balances out though.
Oooh great point Zerk Angel I had forgotten all about that!! I watched a few vids on the bounties and if the gold and exp stays the same it will be a game changer for sure! Very much looking forward to it.
and this is where the "bartering system" will come in to play. say you need to upgrade a gem, oh but you have not a single tome you will need to trade for it. this is the way it should have been.
Yep, the best loot system ever made for Diablo 3. Those constant legendary 2 hander drops are SO overpowered, and are SO good for wizards. /somuchsarcasmithurts
Most of Blizzards games have been shit upon release. Want to know why D2 was so good? Because they kept working on the game over a decade after its release! They refine the game with feedback, honing it better and better. I remember when D3 was first being developed, a lot of people were saying that since Blizz North was gone, it would be shit. Yet, most of the great patches to D2 came out AFTER Blizz North left. I'm hopeful, but I'm not going top play for another year.
lol play the game before you 2 bitch about it it is no longer the game you all remember and considering ive pretty much went from lvl 1 crusader to max and several paragon lvls and im doing 912k dps with over 10m tough and able to run torment 4 solo and can do 5 in a group quite comfortably and this took me only 85 hours of gameplay according to my character sheet compaired to how the game USED to be ya thats saying some thing try before you bitch next time manbabies
nightshadow wolfpaw tried it. 100+ hours in RoS. It's shit. Same problems being ignored, the few good things being ruined for the sake of "balance" in a singe player game. Sad part is Blizzard was taking steps in the right direction and first, then 2 weeks in did a complete 180. Those "build defining" promised legendary items? The few that exist are getting nerfed into oblivion. Drop rates? Nerfed outside of rifts, then stealth nerfed in rifts. RoS is still very much D3, in every way. Same problems, same idiots at the wheel with no clue what they are doing, same clueless fanboys defending it like it's the greatest thing ever.
AkaRystik It took you 100+ hours to find out you didn't like the game? LOL it must have been pretty good to hold your attention for that long. Most games these days hardly last 20 hours.
I like this Josh guy...you can tell he takes a lot of pride in what he does. It seems he loves Diablo as much as the community and he wants to see it succeed. I'm excited as hell.
Funny how when talking about loot 1.0, he says mentions that the legendary is hope for a good item. What a joke. I've looted dozens of legendaries and never found one worth selling or keeping. better to shard it for the reagent.
That's unfortunate. Took me a long time but around Plvl 50 I started pulling some self-found legs that were worth keeping for my main (including a better Inna's Radiance than the one I had bought, and a fairly decent Unity).
KelsonArwhi But that's just it, Inna's and Unity aren't game-changers. You didn't pull a perfect roll quad amulet with all resists. You got decent items for sure, but nothing that really feels like an "epic" item. I got a decent Manticore the other day, but it only had 1 socket. The difference in AH price for the same stats: 2 million gold vs 100 million gold. All because of 1 socket. And that is one of the best drops I have gotten with 5 level 60's, 2 of which can solo MP10.
JeebusCripes21 I suppose it all depends on how you look at it, but they were pretty substantial for me at the time. The Unity did add a good chunk of dps, and I didn't see anything equivalent to it in the AH for less than 100m at the time. Valid point tho. It still bugs me that they actually *removed* the add sockets feature early on, with the inane logic that "oh, it made it like there was an extra chore you had to do." Yeah, cuz having to save up fifty times more gold in lieu of an insanely lucky drop *isn't* a chore? lol
people need to stop complaining, blizzard is one of the few developers that keep updating their games, keep tuning them, they want their games to last for ever, and i think thats a good thing. Because most game developers just release the game, patch it once or twice and move on and the game dies out
+Yanex yeah man. dude for 60$ plus 40$ for expantion, they keep pumping new content FOR FREE!! i think its really nice of them. hey not even a monthly fee like wow! I only hope they bring pvp in the next expantion!
Blozzard wants more and more money. I wont be buying expansion after expansion. Doablo is not wow. Lvl cap at 70. Next expac 80 then so on and so forth. Can I just have an hd remake of doablo 2?
yeah jared no one cares if your gonna buy diablo's expansion (not doablo as you spelt it, idiot!) I'm gonna buy that and Incredible Adventures of van hellsing at the same time! Go eat some mroe subway sandwiches jared lol
What does it mean by paragon being account shared? Like, will all your characters be able to spend the points that you get with all your paragon added up? Or does your account just have 1 paragon level?
I LOVE the new system. It is fun to tinker with your build, and satisfying when you get it right and do better. And if you brought back skill trees, SOME way to re-spec should be implemented. But the freedom in which you can change you character is definitely an improvement for many players.
They are basically doing what pretty much everyone has been looking for them to do. I wasn't planning on buying the expansion but they managed to change it around. Everything seems to be going well so far. Well done Blizzard, you're finally coming to your senses after a rather rough start. I'm really excited about it now.
The loot system is being added for everyone. The Loot 2.0 and paragon 2.0 are being added in as a prepatch for everyone to have access to. Act 5 and crusader are RoS only though.
let us not forget that many where not ... pleased and atracted when diablo II when it came out... it became much better with it's expansion ... and i just read that they are closing the auction house on march 2014. so have some patience my fellow Diablo player... and let us hope for the best
They've already stated that loot 2.0, paragon 2.0, loot runs, Nephalem trials will be in a pre-expansion patch for everyone. The Crusader, Mystic and level cap increase will require the expansion.
That was the beauty of the skill tree. You weren't going to be as good as you could be unless you knew what you were doing. At the end of the D2 era you could re-roll the skill tree too for that sake.
When he says "Legendary items" does that include set items as well? I have a Paragon 31 WD and a couple other low paragon character and I've only ever found 2 (really crappy) set items. Will the drop rates and properties of those change as well?
As someone who was a long time fan of the diablo series and stopped playing d3 because it was just too unsatisfying, I have to say these do sound like the right sort of changes you need to make to the game. I don't know if it will be enough to get me to play again, but props for the randomised dungeons and smart drops.
I'm pretty sure most of the issues will be addressed in the patch. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the expansion is only selling you bonus content (crusader, new act, etc.) Auction house will go down regardless of whether you buy the expansion and for that to happen seamlessly, I would assume loot 2.0 is being introduced to vanilla without the need for the expansion.
I really wanted deep dungeon diving, but in D3 they rarely go more than 2 levels down. Hopefully the randomized loot runs have an option for that, like longer dungeons in nightmare/hell/inferno whatever.
I've read somewhere that Act 5 size will be like Act 2, I guess we can clear our Act 5 first run just an hour? maybe sooner I missed the old large LOD expansion act
It still blows my mind that the game didn't just release with these features. It seems this would have been the result if they just worked off what they had from the beginning. I'm no stranger to learning the hard way either.
with the current system d3 has, skill tree or point to up skill is not possible , we got no manual stat points system, all the skills are depend on weapon damage and base stats.
I don't know why people say: It's a shit, Blizzard is a fail company...Just look at the news. They totaly change the game, like Loot 2.0, legendaries and so on..I hope there will be more people than the normal D3. I still love the normal D3 i think its awsome and fun, but there's a few people who playing with this game, so this expansion will be awsome and Blizzard will get back his respect.
these are vast improvements over the current itemization system. that said, these (most if not all) features should have already been in place at release. they had all the lessons learned from diablo 2 and lod to come up with a well thought out and refined itemization system. seems to be a step in the right direction, but a step that took over a year to make. skill system still needs an overhaul imo.
You can use them individually for each of your characters AFAIK. Meaning you got 50 points you can use them on for example your first character AND on your others as well. So you dont have to play a WD with dex spec if you dont want. You can also refund the points anytime you want.
Fair enough. Accurate list, and pretty much the same as mine. I do enjoy D3, but I agree with you in that the current crop of Blizzard titles as a whole just don't have the same magic as before.
How will all these changes affect our current characters? I guess our stats will change significantly, and our items bought from the AH? Will we be able to set our stats from the start thanks to our current paragons-levels? These are the questions!!
I really love how Blizzard is FINALLY listening to the players and giving us the fixes we've been asking for sense the launch of this game. I haven't played D3 in like 3 months but as soon as this expac comes out I will be playing again, I really hope this new loot system works out because it's the main reason why I quit in the first place.
I see your point, but I still don't think it's the fundamental reason the AH was taken away. I think it was taken away to shut people up and improve Blizzard's reputation so they can sell more expansions. Keeping the AH for easy trading of early items and fixing the later loot to be account bound like they're doing with the new loot system is a better fix IMO.
they won't come, not the one of this video. actually you will drop a lot less legendaries and won't be able to trade for them nor buy them from the auction house. But no, the loot 2.0 will come to vanilla too, so you don't need ros to be disappointed
definitly this expansion is 100% what i was waiting on D3, and they did every single changes that i was expecting so D3 Reaper of Souls for ME its the perfect version.
They just want to make everything oversimplified and dumbed down. I remember the good old days when you could actually gimp you character and had the ability to put out STR, DEX and INT yourself. Now they just want to reward the more "casual" players it seems, those who want legendaries without having to grind as much for them. Why not just make an option for instant max level and instant full legendaries.
i completely agree with him saying that you should get items by playing, but in order to truly achieve that you have to get rid of the auction house..it's the only way for you to make the mystic truly shine other than that i like the new class a lot and i'm also digging the loot runs and point allocations can't wait, tl;dr SCRAP THE AH
Give this guy a credit. He's creating D2 again without knowledge of D2. That's like creating exact copy of Sistine chapel from scratch without knowing it's already created. Previous Game-Director had no clue what he was doing - I have high hopes for this one.
You don't need to buy it, because loot changes will be available for everyone, not just for those who bought the addon. There will be a major patch with the new systems before the arrival of the addon, just like how it happens in WoW for every addon.
I'm not sure I like having paragon points be account-wide. Seems like that will end up meaning you will either be under-powered if you spread them around chars, or over-powered if you focus them all into one.
Getting closer to the D2 we all loved. Maybe they made the money they wanted out of the diabo community and finally giving us what we always expected. But still better is better.
Loot 2 looks great but I still have to agree with hotclaw. The AH made the game fun when I decided to play additional characters. It was easy to get better stuff and pre 1.08 patch it was still possible to make some cash. I love everything I saw in this video but the death of the AH is killin it for me.
My advice to everyone is until this new system gets used take advantage of the way they drop now and salvage as much "crap" items as you can. Once the xpac hits reagents are going to skyrocket in price.
You're not. Note the date of my post. I still think the AH wasn't the problem. They will also likely replace it with something similar where people can trade with each other conveniently.
"NO." - Blizzard. The AH wasn't the issue. The issue was that it was the only way to get good gear. If they address that sufficiently, the AH will just become a place to trade among players. IF they somehow manage to fix the rampant hyper-inflation.
D3 lacks the element of fear. Remember back in D1 and D2, graphics were dark and music were 16bit (?) that gave a vibe of creepiness and fear; and not knowing what the fuck is out of your tiny visibility range in dungeons. damn I still have goosebumps playing D2 now
Legendary items are becoming account bound now. So for the player who bots, yes he gets more win. But he cant sell all the leg items in the AH and brake prices again. And if you use the mystic to reroll a stat on a rare it becomes bound as well.
If anyone has played the console versions of D3 you will probably notice that they have taken at least one detail form Torchlight. Inventory is the first thing that caught my eye. The loot runs might be the second...except, if my memory serves me, was in the form of an endless dungeon in Torchlight. All in all, I respectfully disagree with Orion X, its not too little too late. For me, it seems that they are trying to redeem themselves in the eyes of their fans, and they're doing a good job. :)
I don't even trade, but not being able to gift items in anyway whatsoever is not helping you guys make the community look to the community for items and not the auction house. Thank you
The way i am seeing it is that to make the item truly fantastic they can use the mystic to make the item great and then it becomes bop to the character not even to the account that way the economy can stabilize and you dont have all these items just floating around that are good.plus truly expensive items will always be what is perfect or as close to a perfect roll, i just hope this doesnt become some casual all my loot drops are for my character. I still want to get barb items on my wiz ect.
No limit on Paragon levels is a bad decision, it makes players feel like they are not progressing towards the ultimate character, but rather that they will never get there no matter how good or how long they play. Hope it get's changed to some fixed level-cap.
We should probably wait until the expansion comes out to see if they really will implement these things. Because they did say they were going to implement crazy things in D3 originally, but they just didn't. As for why the game wasn't released with these features. It's an EA move. Release a game that isn't even close to finished, then offer an expansion (read DLC) that fixes it. Except this DLC costs $40 instead of $5.
Some really good changes on the plate. I hope we don't have to wait too long for them. :) Great job getting me excited about the game again though Blizz.
Thank you!
Didnt age well your comment
I switched to Path of Exile a few months ago. But ill give D3 another chance if the AH is gone and Loot 2.0 implemented.
Ahh yes here we are, Blizzard fans, never satisfied and always complaining. Blizz you're doing a good job.Dont listen to these plebs.
thank you sir. i agree.
I honestly if those numbers are exact - let's say their theory is practice - there is less items to sell for gold so it is harder to pay for transmog and such. It will be interesting to see how this all balances out though.
Remember they will add that Bounty system, theres where the gold will come from :P
Oooh great point Zerk Angel I had forgotten all about that!! I watched a few vids on the bounties and if the gold and exp stays the same it will be a game changer for sure! Very much looking forward to it.
good to know. very much looking forward to it.

I have just game for ps3 and I fucking love it I can't put it down the Crusader and The Wizard are my favorites
Diablo III : Reaper of Pokets
***** you'd be amazed of the stupidity of people and generally blizzard fanboys.

nightshadow wolfpaw cool story bro
nightshadow wolfpaw
tried it. 100+ hours in RoS. It's shit. Same problems being ignored, the few good things being ruined for the sake of "balance" in a singe player game. Yes, you can. My guild held a week long raid stop during the releases of D3 and SC2. Yes, that many people didn't show up for raids.
The end of AH finally!
wait.. no AH?
big20052005 It will be removed when this expansion hits.
Lordy lordy! You guys have finally dealt with almost ALL of the issues with D3 that made me stop.
Reinstalling before RoS!
Well, they missed this on every mark. /slow clap.
idiot they changed things before release so loot runs became rifts and all that....

mhmm...
Why do i get the legendary Mojo's on my Wizard and never class item like Wand of Woh ? also what is the legendary cap /hour ?
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!

So what you're telling me is if I'm playing a barb and a yellow 2 handed weapon drops, the main attribute roll is not going to be intelligence?
So, if i play monk and that quiver drops what will smart loot do?
I'm wondering though if you have multiple paragon level 100 characters do they add those all up account wide?
The loot system is being added for everyone. The Loot 2.0 and paragon 2.0 are being added in as a prepatch for everyone to have access to. Act 5 and crusader are RoS only though.
How can People make this so Perfect im just totaly amazed ! not even 1 signle Bad thing in it ! my TOTAL RESPECT!
Do you see the "Account Bound" on all the items?

does the paragon level points cross over from hard core to softcore?
These changes actually make me want to go back to playing D3 again , really excited.

Does anyone know the song name on the beggining?
From 0:00 to 0:05
The AH would then be a place to trade not-quite-optimal gear so that you can progress and find/craft optimal, best-in-slot gear.
I'm pretty sure most of the issues will be addressed in the patch. I really wanted deep dungeon diving, but in D3 they rarely go more than 2 levels down. Hopefully the randomized loot runs have an option for that, like longer dungeons in nightmare/hell/inferno whatever.
Probably the smart legendary on first boss kill and enchanted items will bind to your account.
I'm definitely going to be playing the D3 expansion, Paladin, more customization, more endgame choices.
I've read somewhere that Act 5 size will be like Act 2, I guess we can clear our Act 5 first run just an hour? maybe sooner
I missed the old large LOD expansion act
I may have missed something but are all legendaries going to be account bound or just the ones you find when killing a boss for the first time?

I felt it coming since that archon interview with wyatt.

Not bad Blizzard.

when does this came out?
not to mention the loot run was basically a map room from torchlight 2
no
it is an integral part of the game and it was announced before launch that it would always be part of the game
I like the sound of these changes. Unlike others, I don't believe this game is beyond salvaging.
Glad they had someone on their team play Path of Exile to add their good ideas to the Diablo 3 graphics and gameplay.
They just want to make everything oversimplified and dumbed down. I remember the good old days when you could actually gimp you character and had the ability to put out STR, DEX and INT yourself. can't wait, tl;dr SCRAP THE AH
what is the AH?
Sounds pretty neat. But when and how much of these changes we will see? 2015? Or even later?
why all the items is account bound?
"Pick any appearance you would like through items you've already found in the game" This would be a nice way to transmog in WoW.
From what I've heard, a lot of these changes are going to be in a baseline patch that you won't need RoS to get the benefit from.
I also feel this guy presented the content well, clear speaker.
The first game that had random dungeons was Rouge from 1980.
You're not. Note the date of my post. I still think the AH wasn't the problem. They will also likely replace it with something similar where people can trade with each other conveniently.
Well said, people should be thumbing up his post instead of the "oh em gee! best expansion ever can't wait!" bullcrap.
SOoo does this mean that you can transmogrify legendaries as well?
With this loot 2.0 i keep droping uselles itens and the mobs in the maps are gone?
What hell they are doing?
Agreed. Just don't overdo it, like in Diablo 2 sometimes (high bleed chance + low damage + monster hp regen = bleed forever)
sorry, somebody know if ROS is comming out for xbox 360 as diablo 3?
Thank you
Hope they're adding more variety in item affixes too
Awesome Expansion. Great job guys, really happy about all of these changes.
I like all the new changes, better late than never! It will lead me to play it again and with joy!
I still want to get barb items on my wiz ect.
what if i have like 3 characters on paragon 60 right now. ill my new account paragon be like 60 or will it accumulate when paragon 2.0 starts?
