in this video you will see step by step how to remove the factory 12v cigarette lighter port 15amp and replace it with a dual port usb quick charge with built in voltemeter colourful display
its also going to show you how to remove the ashtray from the centre console
slide cover removal ..so u can wrap in carbon fiber if you want
how to remove the plug harness, remove the pins from the plug using a special pin extraction tool
remove gear knob
remove surrounding bezel and the gear indicator surround as well
all wil be shown in video

no more bulky usb adapters
no more ugly huge usb ports
no need for a cigarette adapter battery voltage meter
nice compact small sleek looking voltmeter with dual usb ports quick charge
a small mod to make your car look nicer but also make it more practical and accessable too
also to allow for a easy way to charge accessories like phone laptops and all electronic devices via a usb port
not just a standard charge but a fast charge
using the adapters just look ugly and takes up too much room , hence why this mod is a must have for ppl who enjoy electronics
there are a few different types of usb and voltage ports out there just find one you like and install it like i have in this video
you will be happy you did so
it makes a huge difference..
and if you are someone who likes to have multiple usb ports for charging or powering certain devices , this will allow you to do so as well, without all the headaches of a big ugly adapter
considering you still have a 12v ciagrette lighter port in the glove box doing this mod doesnt take away from being able to power inverters or small electronics like fridges and heaters as you can still use the 12v port in the glove box..
so if your thinking you wont be able to power your 12v accessories that use a cigaretter lighter port, youd be wrong as you still have one in the glove box..
the main purpose of this mod is to allow for easy access to fast charging and have two readily accessable ports as well as monitor your battery voltage so you can be sure your car is in good condition not leaving you stranded

hey guys hope you enjoy this lil mod i did... so rememeber this doesnt take away from being able to use 12 volt accessories like fridges and heaters and fans and or any other 12v electronic that uses a cigarette lighter port ..as you still have one in the glove box
which brings me to a related thought ..you can always add another 12v port in the back just below the ac vents for the rear ..for those who dont already have a 12v port there ... enjoy ..much more to come ..

Lol I know it’s old but I did this and the USB port now it goes on and off and nearly charges do u have any idea what might be the issue I cute the wires and just taped them up the old fashion way with electric tape
Hello,and greetings from Italy. I recently found you're channel,and since I found him, I've been watching you every day, very interesting stuff you post. So i want to ask you something, when pulling out you're gear surround,you pull off 2 plugs. When I pulled out mine,i only have one plug inserted,the small one. Do you know why? I have a 2007 w204, thank you

Rather than removing the wires from the harness, I’m guessing you could just cut the wires on the cigarette lighter harness?
yes but I only did this incase I ever wanted to go back to factory . but ur right u can just cut it and solder or use connectors butt connectors whatever you choose

I have a w204 C250 MB 2013 which its rain sensor is not working due to the windshield change
Is there any way to reactive the rain & light sensor
might just need to be re activated via a mercedes das xentry diagnostic tools or mercedes themselves ... when u changes the windscreen how did they move the rain sensor over.. take off cover by prying it and check the connectors make sure they reconnected all plugs
hey so I did some research and apparently sometimes when changing the windscreen due to disconnecting the rain sensor it may just need to be resetted
here's the steps on how u reset the rain sensor u may need 2 ppl to do as the doors have to be closed according to these instructions I found
With engine running and all passenger doors closed, starting at #0, turn on wipers to #3 position, then put the switch in the #0 position then put it in the auto #1 (rain sensor position) then have someone splash water on the windshield as the doors have to be closed to reset this function.
Hi MikeyZ, I'm attempting this lighter ro usb mod. There are 3 wires going to the lighter. Which is positive, which is negative, and what is the third wire??
pps is red orange like wire and neg is brown third wire is for the light so u won't need it

yes indeed very possible its just a matter of finding the right size cigarette port / usb connector with usb ports, and ensuring it fits ion the port, then u do the same thing use the pos and neg and connect it to the usb ports
what gauge of spade connector is it. can’t seem to find one that fits in any store near me
it's a typical spade connector as long as it fits in the port
@@MIKEYZVLOGZ yeah, what’s the size that fits in the port. smallest i can find in stores near me is 14-16 gauge and it’s way too big.
@jaiye_ let me check and gt back to u..ok so u can find thinner ones on ebay .. whatever size u need for example say it's a 4mm spade connector blade..u type 4mm spade connector blade in ebay and it will come up with the size ..then u use that one ..its what I pretty much did.. but I will double check my ones Nd let u know..I used speaker type ones which are thinner ..and just made it fit

the connectors I used are just typical connectors just use the same ones that fit the size terminal pins

@@MIKEYZVLOGZ yes, of course! I will install an ambient light kit but I dont want to tap the oem wires, so I will make extensions and tap the extension wires 👍🏽 I went to the Mercedes dealer today but they didnt know the part numbers

no this is just for charging ..its not connected to the stereo... that is usually in glove box where you change the cable and allow usb ipod or aux ...then u can play music through those means ... its called MMI multimedia input ... I've used mine for aux and connected my wireless phone mirrorlink to it ... so I can mirror my phone to screen and play audio as well
You can just buy plug in usb port thou, whats the benefit of this? Thank u
it's hard-wired... not a bulky cigarette lighter that sticks out. It looks better .. and u can have the voltmeter and fast charge at the same time without having to plug something else it. a d yes ur right u can just use a plug and play one..but I wanted something permanent so I just did this... its for those who want a specific type of charger ..that's all
That's not an option when you need to blow air into tire with electric pump that uses cigarette lighter or like all the rest gadgets that uses 12v lighter socket
very true , so i guess in that case u can carry a portable tyre inflator or those jumper gadgets that also pump tyres
