Some have suggested welding the old bracket(s) to make them stronger. Please check out our corresponding post on facebook, where a viewer has posted photos of what happened to his engine when the bracket didn't break. Tim, just because your dealer didn't know about the DTAC solution doesn't mean we all don't. If you came to my parts counter and asked me or any if our parts staff you would have been given the proper information you needed. I love your videos and even gave you props to the shoot out DHL Farms gave you. Making generalizations about all JD dealers isn't fair to those of us that take pride in doing our jobs well. Thanks, Chris.
Fair enough, Chris. Happy to discuss with you offline. tim@tractortimewithtim.com Please identify yourself by referencing this comment when you email. Given the situation here, I don't think my attitude in the video was unreasonable at all. DHL Farms gave us a shout out? I didn't see it. I don't catch all of his videos. How long ago was this? I appreciate your comment.
Where the bracket bolts on originally is the intake manifold. The manifold has broken and let pieces go into the engine. That n/m torque looked spot on to me. I replaced mine a couple of weeks ago. My salesman didn't know anything about the update on the new tractors had to show him. You needed the flip flop farmer to translate some of that technical jargon you had to deal with. Great video, thanks.
I just got this repair done by John Deere on my 2017 1025r. I have 214 hrs on it, and had already went through 3 straps to hold the air cleaner on, one I had them warranty. I called my dealer and informed them of this solution, and asked them to contact John Deere to see if they could offer any assistance in the solution. I also told them I would buy the parts if John Deere was unwilling to help. John Deere said they would take care of it as long as the dealer installed it. The dealer sent a tech out to my repair shop to install it. This was the first time this tech had installed this solution. I showed him this video for reference, and it helped him complete the repair. Thanks Tim for this information.
Hey Tim, funny story, my local Deere dealer dropped off a new 2018 1025R at my house to try out for a day, we were standing there talking about the tractor and I mentioned your name and he knew exactly who you were! He also watches tractor time with Tim! Thank you for your videos.
I talked to my dealer about this after I was back in there for a 4th air filter strap. The service manager told me about the update kit, but said that john deere wasn't treating it as a recall just quite yet. But was selling the kit to anyone interested. I keep a constant eye on mine so that I don't damage anything.
Hi Tim, The fact that the original bracket failed, and the replacement was made at what looks to be 50% thicker and it still failed. I feel that this really should be a recall as this is a design issue as opposed to a normal wear part. An air cleaner bracket is something that should last the normal lifetime of the machine. Even worse that you had to pay for it. I think I would recommend that you contact Deere directly.
Mr Tim Sir, My B-2920 Kubota is a 2013 and has just under 500 hours. Yes, I do use it. Summer jobs are tilling gardens and using the tiller for customers landscaping needs. I recently remove shrubs at my church. Not a hard job for the B-2920. Sure saved the church a lot of money, and I enjoyed doing it. The church has about 5 acres and I mow using the tractor and my Walco-Douglas, made in Canada, 6 foot finish mower. Winter jobs, well here in central Indiana, SNOW REMOVEL! I think if I yell real laud, you might be able to hear me, at your home. Maybe not. 50 miles! That would be kind of out of the question. At 76, I enjoy your videos and look forward to each one. God bless you and your family. Say hi to your dad for me. We have a lot in common.
Just followed this video to replace the air filter on a 2017 1025. Many thanks for the walk through. Original bracket failed at 358 hours. Fortunately no engine damage. Repair parts are up to ~$250. Easy install with your help!
Thanks so much! 2016 model broke after 40 hour maintenance. When vibrating, shacking the engine stalls. Cajun rigged to get by, now will get the upgrade. Was able to do 200 hour maintenance at 100 hours and replace the old poorer designed bracket.
Hey Tim. Mine had broke under warranty. I call my dealer and was told it was on back order. Now my warranty is out and they refuse to replace the original part even though I contacted them before it was out of warranty. It's been a great little tractor other than the water pump 2 week after buying it and the air cleaner bracket. Thanks for your channel. I enjoy it very much and have learned alot
@die warlock I had called them and told them it had broke and they were on back order. I was told I would get a call as soon as they came in. My warranty was going to run out in 2 weeks. They told me then it would still be covered. About a month later I got a call saying they were in and being my warranty was up I needed to pay. Needless to say I'm done with that dealer. I welded the old bracket up and it's been just fine
My 1026 r is a 2012 and has a completely different bracket than both of those and haven’t had any problem yet , it has 750 hr on it too ! Thanks for the video Tim !
Hello Tim, thank you for your very helping videos. Long time fan. I knew about this air filter assembly problem a long time ago from my tractor dealer. Which by the way, provided me with a box with all the needed parts, free of charge. Courtesy of John Deere I guess. My "little Johnny” is a 2015 model and I finally got to 200 hours. So, with your videos’ help, I have been doing that 200 hours maintenance job and finally got to replace that old filter. I kept an eye on that old filter assembly throughout and never broke down or anything. But as I replaced the assembly, I noticed a harness of wires right behind the filter’s assembly and noticed that, probably because of vibration from the filter, it had chaffed the harness’ plastic to the point of stripping the plastic bare all the way to the copper. I wrapped that with a few layers of electrical tape. I can only guess I probably would have ended with bold wires if I had not replaced that air filter assembly. Thank you.
I have a 2017 1025r. My dealer looked up my tractor serial number and handed me the kit to update the air filter at no charge. For audit purposes he asked for the old parts back after I installed the new kit. All done and happy I have a great Green Dealer up here in Maine.
That is the same way I tried to fix my wife situation, I got a thicker one the 2nd time and that did not work. But I and my John Deere have been happy for years now.
Much more sensible design. Attaching it to the engine was not terribly smart. I welded mine back together and it's still holding, but good to know this exists. They should make it available for free to owners. Thanks for the vid!
Been very busy and have not been getting enough tractor time lately :) Weather's cooling off, so hoping to get some projects done during fall. Since YT changed their algo's I've been less inclined to spend alot of time on vids, but hope to get back on the train soon regardless. Daughter is off to college and time is flying by! Hope you and family are doing great!
Thank you Tim for this update. My 1025R didn't even have 100 hours on it and the rubber air cleaner strap broke. That was under warranty. I'll keep a check on my metal bracket. Y'all take care and God bless.
Nice fix, Tim. I think dealerships should give these parts free since they know of numerous breakages of the Air cleaner bracket. You're right ...."lump" is a technical term (smile). Have a fine week. Thumbs up.
Just bought all the parts. Nobody knew what I was talking about. Easier just to hand them your list of parts and pay. Thanks ps going to watch the hydralic fluid change next. Doing that as soon as my drain pan comes from your amazon store.
I’ve always been loyal to John Deere and grew up around many of their tractors and equipment as a kid but I remember when I bought my 445 about 20 yrs ago there were many stories going around about plastic cam failures. When I approached my dealer and John Deere about this they claimed there were no such failures and I knew of at least 2 that my dealer worked on. I wasn’t so irritated about the cam issue but more so concerning their honesty as I just wanted to get it fixed before it caused bigger issues. Sometime later I just ordered the whole kit and repaired it myself.
Had my hood up today. I hate the new way you open the hood with the key but I like the new filter mounting. Thanks for showing this to people who need it.
I have a 2017 and it has the new style push rivet to remove the side panel. And my kit did not come with any instructions at all so this video helped me a bunch. Thanks for posting it.
Tim; I cannot believe (yes I do) that JD has not been on top of your unit and provided support. cudos to you for not slamming them.HARD I have had JD farm and home equip for over 50 years, I am no longer loyal for personal experiances.
The original 1 Series 1026R came with the air filter mounted the same way the "new" fix for the 1025R is being mounted. I suspect after the 1026R was such a success, John Deere re-engineered the filter as a cost saving move. I have over 600 hours on my 1026R and haven't had any issue as to how the air filter is mounted. Watching Tim's video, it does look like the metal strap that holds the filter housing is not as robust as the ones made for the 1026Rs. Thanks Tim for your great video(s). I also like your new bigger tractor. :)
Great video Tim. After watching your video I went down to my John Deere dealer where I purchased my 1025r and asked them about this bracket problem. Told them my bracket was broken (although it is not, YET) and they were just gonna give me another bracket. Your right, I had to inform THEM about this solution #113718. After they looked into it, they are ordering the parts for me and parts will be covered under the warranty at no charge. My machine is only 8 months old. I wanted to make sure I got this fix BEFORE my warranty expires and/or my valve cover breaks. I have no problem paying for add ons or anything like that but this should be a recall and made free to all but John Deere is to greedy so I am sticking it to them while I can.
Probably should post this for everyone to see. When I was at the dealership to get my air filter strap and we were talking about the new air filter kit, the service manager told me that he just had a 1025r come in with a blown motor. What had happened was the air filter bracket came loose where it mounts to the valve cover and eventually shattered the cover. So all the little pieces of aluminum fell into the motor and locked it up. Now according the "My local Deere dealer", this was covered under the tractors warranty. So it got fixed. I had this same problem when I bought my 1025r, but I noticed the loose nuts very soon, and took care of it with some blue loctite and proper torque spec. I haven't had any issue with that plate coming loose ever again. So moral of the story is keep an eye on your air filter bracket and assembly.
Hi Tim, I was at our local dealer last Friday looking at used 1025r's. They had a 2017 with just over a 100 hours. I opened the hood and saw that it had the updated air cleaner assembly. When I asked the salesman about that he said the cylinder head and valve cover had to be replaced as the previous air cleaner bracket had broken the valve cover and metal had fallen into the engine. I ended up buying a used 2014 1025R with 150 hours at another dealer the next day. I'm ordering the parts for the new air cleaner bracket today.
Thankyou Tim . , I have noticed sometihing not right in that area with noise. Just couldn't put a finger on it. Just wish i would of seen your video sooner .Really enjoy all your videos and your family interaction . Keep up the good work . Heading for the local JD dealer tomorrow to get the corrected air cleaner .
Thank you Tim! I had been reading up on it and my dealer is working to find out more. I was wondering on how tough the install would be and you just showed it. It will be done in the near future.
Lump is probably a technical term. Lol. I just fried a set of points on my 57 JD 520. I ended up doing an ignition tune up. I used my tractor at church to move a big brush pile something your couldnt have done the way i did cause the shorter loader reach but it was fun. Then used the bucket and box blade to bury a bunch of fist sized rocks. My hole didnt go very deep and was only 3 ft wide since thats the width of the manure bucket. Good fix tim
Just got the filter relocation kit installed by my dealer today under the PIP. Had my second bracket break this past week. As with yours my brackets only last about 170 hrs each. Luckily no valve cover damage either time.
In speaking with my JD dealer regarding the air cleaned update, I was advised that it is a recall and a free replacement, at least for some period into the near future.
For anyone wondering ....i checked my (2017) 1023E and it doesnt have this issue. Basically its just connected like what is in TTWT's video at the 10:21 mark. Just another reason why i'm happy i went the budget route :)
Tim 10Nm= 7.375621ft-lb and 1.5Nm= 1.106343ft-lb very good video. This should help a lot of people with the 1025R that want to see the new kit before they purchase it and also so they can see how easy it is to install. Great video as always my friend. Have a great day. God Bless!!!
I guess I thought folks would recognize that I was complaining about showing only the metric measurements in the doc. Must have been too subtle as several folks have found it necessary to provide the measurements :-)
This just happened to my 1025R. Called my dealer yesterday. His response was that "It has been a year since I last handled one of these, but you are the second this week. The part is currently on back order (the newer modified setup), and that he will order it for me. There is no cost, unless I had them come to my house to either pick up the tractor or they worked on it at my house." Dropping it off to them means no cost to me. He said it did not matter if it was or was not under warranty. John Deere considers this fix a "Repair upon failure." Fortunately the air cleaner and associated tubes are all firmly connected--so as long as I monitor that I think I can still use it. Not recommended by the dealer, of course, but when you have a John Deere, its hard to keep off of it for long!
Good call on not reusing the nylon locknuts, very professional attitude. Most people fail to realize that style nut was designed as single use only since the threads cut the insert each time it is tightened lessening the locking ability after initial installation.
Thanks for the video, finally getting around to doing this. Got the parts the other day. Fortunately my bracket never failed just the air filter canister would keep opening up from the vibration. I could always hear the different hum of the engine when it happen.
Tim, I just installed the relocation kit on my 2019 1025R the only issue I noticed is my tractor has a slotted guard apparently to shroud the cooling fan, ( I don’t see this guard on your tractor) the top of that guard was slightly rubbing the new canister and in 30 seconds of running the engine it had already rubbed a small spot on the canister lid. I took a cutoff wheel and trimmed enough off the guard so it would not touch the canister. Not only was it rubbing but there was not enough clearance to get the lid off the canister to change the filters without removing the whole canister. Just thought I’d mention this in case other viewers run into this issue.
Watched last night and couldn't wait to get home from work to see if my tractor needed the update. I guess mine was made after July 2018 because it came with the fix already installed:-)
Just make sure you order the correct air filters when you replace them. The filters are different on the replacement and the manual doesn't indicate such.......LVU34503 and LVU35404.
I guess I was lucky my Theater in Ontario GreenTech went good on it somehow they got me the parts it was no charge I have to install them thanks to your video it was very easy And keep up the good work we appreciate it
Thank you for this info. I really enjoy your videos. you have helped me tremendously with my decision to not only purchase my 1025R but you have also been a tremendous help in maintaining my tractor as well. Thank you so much and please keep posting.
i agree that if its a long known problem with the design and many people have had this issue, including you twice, then john deere should provide it free of charge like when a car has a recall and they dont charge you to fix their issue
My guess on not free - bouncing in and out of holes might do that and might be considered as being rough on it. e.g. you did it. Not to bad a price for new parts. Clean out engine compartment and such. I needed wheels for another cart company and ended up buying wheels, axle and axle holder. Now it comes free shipping and hook or crook those wheels will fit this cart. Hate to toss a good cart with a bad tire. Cost approached the price of a new cart. Thanks for the part numbers and all. Now to visit my dealer.
Nice video tim and nice work . John deere must give warranty on this modification ore fifty fyfty for the costumer ,that would be nice and next time tim when you working on the intake you must close the intake that nothing can't come in to the engine 👍👍
Tim, thanks for the video. I was about to call my dealer to order the air cleaner update and associated parts. But now, after looking at my bracket compared to yours. mine is totally different. Where the 90 degree bend is, mine has a 1/2" thick gusset welded on to help reinforce it and then the bracket comes up and over the top and partially around my air cleaner housing. Yours looks like it would have to go under the housing and around. Also, mine is one solid piece, where yours has that slotted "U" shape in the bracket. My 1025R tractor was built in July of 2013. Quite surprising. I wish I could attach the pictures I took, somehow.
I am in the process of buying a 1025r. I noticed the air filter bracket had not been addressed. They are aware of the issue. In fact, they said they had had to replace an owner’s engine. Deere picketed up the bill and it was significant.
Bought my 1025r in January of this year. It was a 2017 model that had been kept inside the dealership as a display so looks brand new. It has, of course, the old model air cleaner set-up. Had been following this thread prior to purchase and so provided my dealer a link to this video and all the parts numbers, solution number, etc.... Dealer contacted me the next day and said no problem it's a free fix on them - only question was did I want them to come and get it or would I be OK with getting all the parts from them and doing it myself. Having seen this video I said 'sure I'll be happy to do it myself', and did! If you've asked your dealer about this and been told you have to pay for it, well, that's unfortunate - but if you haven't talked to them and just moaned on here about it then it's on you and if you have a great dealer like I do you just might be pleasantly surprised. You won't know until you ask.
@@TractorTimewithTim Your series, and this one in particular, have made all the difference - thanks for that! My salesman was not aware of these TTWT videos before I told him and now he's a fan! I especially appreciate the positive take you have on some of the issues and challenges that you come across on these tractors. I also know I'm lucky to have a good dealer - not everyone does - but I also think going in to meet and talk with them (other than to complain) so as to establish a friendly working relationship makes a difference. I retired from a career that involved dealing with the public every day - they ranged from those who treated me as a fellow human to complete raging a-holes...guess who got the better service....;) Keep it up Tim, your TTWT site is an oasis in the vast negative ocean of the internet.
Tim, you lod reliable Jonny source.😁 I was just going over my 2016 1025 TLB for a job in the morning and found my air cleaner bracket is broken of the valve cover. Mine currently only has 132 hours on it. I'm gonna call my local dealer and see about the update and hopefully they will warranty it. If not ............I don't know which route I'll take the high road or the low.🤔
THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A JOHN DEERE RECALL. SHAME ON JOHN DEERE!!!!!! I THOUGHT THEY WERE A GOOD COMPANY. I GUESS I WAS WRONG. I'M SORRY YOU HAD TO SPEND YOUR MONEY ON A JOHN DEERE MISTAKE. GREAT VIDEO! THANKS FOR SHARING!
Really like your channel, of course like in one of your other videos you said new people are getting ready to buy a tractor...and I'm going to buy a good ole Massey Ferguson 1742 probably tomorrow or next Monday...keep up the great videos and hello from Michigan 😃
@@d.a.ballou9740 how do you like it...still nervous...heck...price check...lol getting it with 6ft tiller and forks and a rear remote for $28200 no cab.
Robbobshiskabob Robboboscarpete Mine was a little more than that. I got the HST, loader, 5ft grapple with 3rd function valve/diverter valve and forks. No rear remote and no cab. I like it so far, although I must admit I wish I had waited a little because the new ones just came out without the DPF.
I had just found a stud on the mower deck. Plus I heard a different noise while mowing.....more rattle and extra engine noise. One stud and nut was out and the other two loose. So I hope nothing else happened. So off to have a lookl
Thanks for this video, life saver. My dad has the 1025r and started making a misfire noise.. did some digging and couldn't find anything. I stumbled on this video and figured why not check the bracket see if there are any issues there. Took a look and found that the bungee cord holding the air filter was missing, looked further and found the bracket cracked holes in the top of the engine and several pieces of plastic fell into the intake. Those misfires were little bits either in the combustion chamber or blocking the air intake. End result- John Deere is replacing the whole engine free of charge under warranty. What surprises me is they have the dealer mounting it at the exact same spot but using some composite material that is supposed to be stronger then the metal bracket previously used.. Am I missing something? Why risk this mounting location again if all they have to do is put it on the fan shroud?
If you want to save your compact tractors (no matter what brand) some grief don't let them low idle. Just to much vibration. I never let mine go below 1200 rpm. For my tractor vibration starts below 1200. They are diesels they can sit and run all day at max rpm so don't worry about a little higher idle speed. Hope this helps some of you with metal fatigue problems.
Unfortunately the 1025 idles at 1550 rpm. However it shakes bad at idle and I always raise mine to just under 2000 to smooth it out. You are correct though majority of vibration at idle and also a hard shake when shut down.
I have a 2018 with 506 hrs with the thicker bracket. When I ordered the maintenance kit they asked what type of air filter I had. All they told me was that JD came up with a new assembly. Well I didn't want to spend another $250. Well when I was doing the filter replacement the rubber strap broke. So I went to look up a new strap I stumbled on to this potential of catastrophic engine damage. Sad that JD would not offer this relocation kit free for a known issue.
My Deere dealer picked up my 1025R, pressure washed it, changed out the air cleaner, and delivered it back to me the next day. Great service. Why did you have to pay for parts??? Only thing is, to change the filter, the side panel has to come off now. Not a huge deal but there ya go.
I sent in my1025r for a final warrenty check. They changed the upper shaft due to ware but they didnt want to tell me what they changed or what the problem was. They also turned up the idle speed. When the air cleaner strap broke my dealer told me to keep the idle up. So yes this prevents the violent movent of the air breather but now it seems that I burn more fuel. Now I will have to talk with my dealer about the update since my tractor was on warrenty.
My Bracket Just Broke on my 2014 JD 1025R with 270 hrs on it. I did attempt to change this out last year when I first saw the video but was told by the new Dealer (JD drove my nearby independent dealer out and now he sell Yanmar my next closest is an hour away ) replacement under warranty is a repair upon fail fix no preventative replacement will be provided. Well now they will replace the pars under warranty. The claim has been submitted and we will see if they honor it next week.
Shame on Deere for not notifying dealers/owners of this issue. In this day and age of lawsuits you think they would have. Just a tip-use an old sock to cover your air inlet when exposed. Thanks for the update!
They are probably too embarrassed to notify owners and tell them it will cost $150 for the parts to fix the faulty factory design of the air cleaner assembly. :-)
Called JD store today with the # you provided. Here in Canada they do not have said kit and items bought individually would be $250 and the tax. CDN. The new strap alone was $36. Parts guy felt by spring there should be a fix kit and felt maybe JD might cover this, but I can't see it! I'm a bit worried about the valve cover and thinking of taking it off all together and try to fasten the canister to the support rod. 🤔
407 hours on mine. Three broken brackets and 5 broken straps at this point. Original bracket broke at approximately 160 hours. The bulkier replacement bracket broke at about 360 hours. The third bracket broke this weekend, at 507 hours. I just returned from my dealer, with the relocation parts in hand. They actually had everything in stock, but it took input from all 4 guys at the parts counter to produce them, one part at a time. I'm heading to the barn to do the job now after watching the video. FYI, the new air filter container comes with both filters already installed and included in the price. I really feel sorry for any owners who cannot do their own repairs, adjustments, and maintenance. For them, this tractor should come as a package deal with a trailer for all those trips to be serviced.
Just a note. Finished the procedure, which took about 20 minutes. It would have been significantly more time without Tim's video to follow. Also, the 2 nuts for the bracket that holds the curved support going around the air filter actually were included as part of the Support Assembly package. (The 2 nuts with the P/N's starting with "E").
that not right that john deere doesn`t do all they can to help people like yourself to keep up on all the different changes to there equipment. great video tim, to bad john deere didn`t do one.to help you and others.
thanks Tim for doing this video and making us aware of the problem. We bought our JD 1025R in June of 2017. Here it is June of 2019 and our air cleaner bracket broke. 145 hours. I will be making a trip to our JD dealer, our tractor should still be under warranty. So hopefully they will know about the "new solution".
Tim With you using some existing holes to hold the air cleaner to me it looks like J D new about this and the costumer plobly wont know untoll its to late now the whole world will know Tim we thank you for telling it like it is God Bless PaK
Thanks for taking the cover off, that gave us a clear view to see what was happening. Couldn't help but notice the two springs under the Tractor seat. Is that the seat suspension?
Hope that puts an end to the air cleaner problems... I would have thought JD would have notified it's registered owners and even perhaps offered the upgrade at a discount as it certainly looks like a design issue.
Kind of makes you wonder why those holes were there originally. Maybe to save a buck with going with something cheaper? Be interesting to know how this performs. Hurry up and put some more time on that tractor!
I would imagine the vibration from the engine could have been causing the broken bracket? I hope you are going to get more videos with your Dad and Brother farming!!! I farm but enjoy seeing what others do!!!!
Thanks Tim..... Great video. My 1025R (2015 model) has about 217 hours so I may be due if it is the same type of strap connection. While mowing one day, I heard a rattle coming from the engine compartment. The strap that goes around the air cleaner came loose. Don't know how as it is quite tight when connected. Not certain if all are like this, but my strap where it connects at the approx failure point is attached by spring loaded wire to the rubber strap from the bracket. Are all like this or is this a dealer solution, (as I had some warranty work by my dealer on my steering @ 90 hours and they may have changed it (approx July 2016)?
Once again, a plain, and easy to follow video Tim. Well done, as always. I am curious though, are the filter elements the same as on the old air cleaner? It would be nice if folks that had a couple of filter kits still waiting to be used if they didnt have to just throw out the elements they may have already purchased.
Right now I’m waiting to hear back from John Deere to see if they’re going to help me fix my loader I found out there were several recalls on mine and nobody replace any of them or took care of any of them and now I am the third owner on a 1026R And now fall is getting here and my projects are lining up $450 apiece is a little much for me to swallow and I would rather buy a few more implants instead of having to replace something that should have been replaced to begin with
Some have suggested welding the old bracket(s) to make them stronger. Please check out our corresponding post on facebook, where a viewer has posted photos of what happened to his engine when the bracket didn't break. (Hint...the valve cover DID break...not good) facebook.com/TractorTimeWithTim/?__tn__=kC-R&eid=ARB3ZlRlKMFXzyBEakfd32dp9z4jUGkerX9l-7klxnR1xF4n7wnNXLcg04PYuWw2HKBlfUGOfdB9qkx6&hc_ref=ARTUwULsIr9KjJ7ZhltJrzTc81byWoB89H-s_wIrqhaLffyELuGDdF4QYFXSBr7sJ3s&fref=nf&__xts__[0]=68.ARAh0K9TyobNC0qJm0E0u48gcXMh-mUMPv8lajHlE-lHeVaLSgyvmehiksa5TO2Q2o56efxB59KzlZKP2XL8apyTn29RHYNTt88apOTCPvGK2WYEft7h6nF99VPFglj5O85IuktUz_37457r601qCh1TUL1ZA2RIiHGyaL1gM0McXALvul9Y
If it was a known problem JD should have given you the parts at no cost. My humble opinion.
John Henderson agreed. Deere should at the very least be providing the parts free to anyone who ask’s about it.
Agreed!
Found the DHL Farms video. Thanks for letting me know about that.
Yea! Where is she when I need her!
thats why love my kubota and case dealer
Flip flop farmer! 🤣
Hi Tim,
The fact that the original bracket failed, and the replacement was made at what looks to be 50% thicker and it still failed.
Thanks Don!
Squeaky wheel gets the grease. :-)
@die warlock lappens of Gaylord
My 1026 r is a 2012 and has a completely different bracket than both of those and haven’t had any problem yet , it has 750 hr on it too ! Thanks for the video Tim !
Thanks Shawn. I have a 2012 1026R also.
Thanks Tim for your constant interest in helping individuals with making the JD 1025R better.
But I and my John Deere have been happy for years now.
...you got a thicker one and now your broke? :-)
Much more sensible design. Attaching it to the engine was not terribly smart. I welded mine back together and it's still holding, but good to know this exists. They should make it available for free to owners. Thanks for the vid!
Hey hadn’t heard from you in awhile. How are you doing? Still getting that ‘tractor therapy’?
Thumbs up.
Thanks for the video, 500 hours and still intact. Just changed to prevent problems.
Good to know. My 1025r has 187 hours on it.... I better go see if mines broken yet. Great videos!
Just bought all the parts. Nobody knew what I was talking about. Easier just to hand them your list of parts and pay.
Thanks
ps going to watch the hydralic fluid change next.
Looks very nice, the new air cleaner! Nothing better than new parts!
Wow. I’ve now heard of 5-6 having that issue..
My original bracket broke. Now I need to go look at the replacement one, to see if it's broken. Great info. Thanks 👍
Yep. ...unfortunately!
Tractor Time with Tim I just checked. Second bracket ok but rubber strap broke, metal on one end pulled through. 446 hrs on a 2014.
Might as well get the update!
Thanks for this Tim! I'll be checking my 2012 1026R tomorrow. I just got done tilling up my ditch with it!
You should be in good shape. 1026r’s have a different bracket.
@@TractorTimewithTim WOW! I was getting all worked up over this. I have a 1026R too. I'll have to make sure I'm ok. Thanks Tim!!!
Take photos. Make sure your valve cover is not broken. Deere will cover this now.
Should add mine is a 2017 1025r.
I know its hard to tell in comments mine was meant to be purely Sarcasm and fun. LOL
Yea. One guy was trying to tell me how to use google to find it! :-)
Maintenance Time with Tim. Why a cost it's a design flaw!
Good question.
My thoughts as well.
Ask JD for a good answer.
John Deere considers this fix a "Repair upon failure."
Fortunately the air cleaner and associated tubes are all firmly connected--so as long as I monitor that I think I can still use it.
Thanks Doc.
Good deal!
Just make sure you order the correct air filters when you replace them. The filters are different on the replacement and the manual doesn't indicate such.......LVU34503 and LVU35404.
@@michaeldoherty2289 Thanks for the heads up on that!
I guess I was lucky my Theater in Ontario GreenTech went good on it somehow they got me the parts it was no charge I have to install them thanks to your video it was very easy
And keep up the good work we appreciate it
Thank you for this info.
Engine vibration is what causes the breakage
Thanks Tim, I didn't even know that there was a problem. As always, your videos are very informative.
Well, at this point...."If it ain't broke..."
Seriously, no need to replace if it has survived 5 years!
I am in the process of buying a 1025r. I noticed the air filter bracket had not been addressed. They are aware of the issue. In fact, they said they had had to replace an owner’s engine. Deere picketed up the bill and it was significant.
Thanks for the feedback.
Dean, it has taken time, and this video to educate the dealers. It is getting better now.
You can take the high road. They will fix it.
Should just use the German torque of Goot en tight...………..I really enjoy your videos, keep up the good work and God bless...….
I think that is what I used!!! Thx for the chuckle.
Hi Tim, just purchased a 1025r, looking to pick up next week. Mine is a 2020 model.

Really like your channel, of course like in one of your other videos you said new people are getting ready to buy a tractor...and I'm going to buy a good ole Massey Ferguson 1742 probably tomorrow or next Monday...keep up the great videos and hello from Michigan 😃
Congratulations!
Hey, that's what I bought in May.
Yes, I’m surprised they are not using the farm shroud mounting.
@@TractorTimewithTim Update again, I think they realized it was not worth the risk and ended up mounting it on the fan shroud. Phew, lol
On our automobile hoses we smeared a bit of grease around the inside of the hose. Makes it a lot easier to remove
I had the same issue with my 1025R the broken piece went into the fan in the front and almost caused major damage.
Since I already paid for the repair parts, getting my money back would be a long shot. But, thanks for the follow up.
I bought my 1025r in April 2018 and it has the updated air cleaner system.
My Deere dealer picked up my 1025R, pressure washed it, changed out the air cleaner, and delivered it back to me the next day. Great service. Why did you have to pay for parts??? Only thing is, to change the filter, the side panel has to come off now. Not a huge deal but there ya go.
I did the repair early ...before they were paying for it.
Had the same thing with mine. About the same hours. Dealer looked at me like I was crazy when I took it to them.
Come on guys and gals, do you want to deny some stockholders in New York City a few $12 cups of coffee ? Pay the $150 bucks! 😉
Tim just talked to my JD dealer and they said they would replace it with the new style even though my bracket is not broken. Under warranty.
Sounds good. I am out of warranty.
Who & where is your dealer? Kudos to them. 👍
Glad it worked for you!
that not right that john deere doesn`t do all they can to help people like yourself to keep up on all the different changes to there equipment. great video tim, to bad john deere didn`t do one.to help you and others.
Nice video. Good step by step.
thanks Tim for doing this video and making us aware of the problem. We bought our JD 1025R in June of 2017. Here it is June of 2019 and our air cleaner bracket broke. 145 hours. I will be making a trip to our JD dealer, our tractor should still be under warranty. So hopefully they will know about the "new solution".
They will fix it for free now. The 'solution' has been upgraded to 'fix as fails' which means that they will upgrade your system.
Tim With you using some existing holes to hold the air cleaner to me it looks like J D new about this and the costumer plobly wont know untoll its to late now the whole world will know Tim we thank you for telling it like it is

I have a 2017. Same as yours. The 18s I have looked at have the new style
I’ve got a 2017 model and mine still has the bolt to remove the side panel but it’s funny you post this, mine just broke today at 240 hours
They didn't notify you because they wanted you to keep buying the old part over and over again. They're probably way over stocked in them
Thanks for taking the cover off, that gave us a clear view to see what was happening. Couldn't help but notice the two springs under the Tractor seat. Is that the seat suspension?
Ha. Yea. Another story for another day.
Lol, 10-4👍
Almost half way there to the silver play button
Hope that puts an end to the air cleaner problems... I would have thought JD would have notified it's registered owners and even perhaps offered the upgrade at a discount as it certainly looks like a design issue.
WOW, there is a problem with a Deere!! After watching many of your videos I would never have thought that you would admit there was a flaw in a Deere.
Interesting. We are generally quite open about the problems we have. Perhaps you just haven’t encountered those episodes.
@@TractorTimewithTim Yes Perhaps.
Shot some Saturday. Not sure how good it will be yet :-)
Tractor Time with Tim 👍👍 look forward to it.....
Thank you!! Very Informative information
Another great video Tim
great show $310 in canada
Yes! A repair video
Cheap,Massey GC 2300 $70 Canadian for an air filter element, never broke the bracket 1700 hrs, ty for sharing
Good fix, hope it last a long time. you should shove a clean rag into those open intake holes, you never know what will jump in.
I should have checked the part numbers. ...you can do that too.
New air cleaner uses different filters, sorry.
