    Have your John Deere dealer lookup Deere Solution #8LV188.
    Air Filter Update Kit:
    www.greenpartstore.com/John-D...
    Individual JD Parts:
    LVU34473 - Bracket (Wire Hanger for Air Cleaner Assembly)
    LVU33856 - Hose (From Cleaner Assembly to Engine)
    LVA23760 - Bracket
    LVA23405 - Air Filter
    E63525 - Nut (qty 1)
    E63524 - Nut (qty 1)
    AR21840 - Hose Clamp (qty 2)
    14M7396 - Lock Nut (qty 2)
    When I purchased, the total cost for the parts was approximately $165.
    John Deere states the following 1025R serial number ranges may be affected:
    1LV1025R*FH (311981 - 323956)
    1LV1025R*GG (100101 - 300374)
    1LV1025R*GH (123600 - 332619)
    1LV1025R*HH (124600 - 300800)
    1LV1025R*HJ (100001 - 301052)
    1LV1025R*JJ (147000 - 301302)
    If you watch this full video though, and check your tractor, you should be able to visually tell if you have an old version or the latest version.
    Supposedly the 1023E is already designed this way, but you may want to check and confirm for yourself. I am assuming it is the same for the 1026R.

    I bought my 1025r last summer. I found watching all these videos, that almost every upgrade was already done on my tractor. From simple removal of bolts and put disconnects on, to other larger items. Seems JD watches these videos and makes changes every year!! Thanks!

    I have a 2013 1025 R with 776 hours on it. It is nickel and dimming me to death at this point. I plan on downsizing to a smaller property very soon and I am hoping the tractor can hold on a bit longer as I won’t be needing it. Anyway,,,,The cap won’t stay on the housing. The clips are too loose. I tweaked them and it seems to be holding. In the course of researching the issue, I discovered that the housing should be replaced. It would have been nice of John Deere to notify me of this safety issue! I haven’t contacted the dealer yet, but I expect they won’t be doing the update for no cost to me. You made the fix look easy to do, so if the dealer won’t do it or decides to charge me a small fortune, I’ll try it myself.

    Hi, I got the kit ,the extra nut is the washer for the clamp, that's why it has a hex hole in the bracket. You put the nut in front of the bracket in the hex hole and it works like a lock washer. The clamp goes thru the nut then the 10mm nut goes on, works great. Thanks for the info, I just got mine today it took a while to figure out why the extra nut. Now I know. I didn't get a hat with mine.

    I am cringing at the open air intake where the hose was removed. I know that what you are doing the chances of anything falling in the open hole are small, but the way my luck runs is that when I look away something will find its way down the open hole. Think hard about at putting a shop rag over any opening that will be more than a few minutes before getting covered back up/hose connected/whatever. Now that the rain has stopped for a few minutes I am going to go check my engine. Thanks for the update.

    I've read over 30 stories of this breaking. So close to 100 hours on every single one, I bought a 2013 with 85 hours, it broke at 107 hrs, just the strap. I removed it and let the hoses hold the air filter, I'm at 130+ hrs with zero issues and it doesn't rattle. I'm not just being a cheap skate, I was running it to see and wanted to report to anyone that is watching this. It is still tight, I run my machine much harder than most. It is constantly being pushed on 34 acres, but I dont want another big tractor, this thing is nimble and I love it. Hey Johnny, I totally agree; however we’re in snow season and I can’t be without my tractor. Simple things take them a minimum of a few weeks. I can’t imagine how long an engine swap would take including diagnosis, ordering an engine, and installing it. I do a lot of snow removal if you check out my other videos. Not having the tractor is not an option for me, so I prefer the proactive approach.
      I agree with you though. If it breaks and your under the power train warranty, they absolutely better take care of it.

      That's great. Some dealers do it, some do not. While my tractor is in warranty also, the downtime that I'd have with a potential engine swap versus me just paying $160 is well worth it to me. With my luck the tractor would be in the shop and I'd be getting hit with repeated snow storms with no tractor.

    Not to challenge your fix or reason(s) for it, I am having a difficult time understanding why and how something as light-weight and insignicant as a air filter housing that is attached to the valve cover can lead to a catastrophic failure. Hi Dwayne, very valid question! I agree, it's not obvious. I haven't had the valve cover off to answer that question for myself, but I'm glad you asked. There are quite a few documented cases of this failure on the internet. Check out this link to see one example: www.greentractortalk.com/threads/1025r-engine-damage-air-cleaner-broke-off.186388/

      @@TractorHoarders ....thanks for your reference to TTWT's fix. I now remember viewing is video some time ago. Tim is one of my favorite resources for the 1025R World. Still, I am quite surprised that such a small "mass" of plastic (referring to the air cleaner itself) and a mounting bracket could lead to such a severe failure. Routine engine vibrations (welcome to diesels!) and likely harmonics has likely produced such failure. Still, I do like the air cleaner relocation to the radiator firewall and removal from the engine entirely as being a great solution. As Tim references, I am disappointed that JD wasn't more forthcoming to all registered owners about the update. Such "silence" could often result in a more costly legal action....meaning class action. Not smart, for sure! Maybe I should be thinking Kubota instead! Are you listening JD?

    • @josephmkarpinski8362
      @josephmkarpinski8362 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The issue with the mounting is that the vibration can crack the valve cover and pieces of it can get past the valves which are actually under the cover. Mine cracked luckily while under warranty and John Deere replaced the complete engine at no cost. The funny thing is that the first issue with these was the bracket cracking so they beefed up the bracket. Once the bracket was beefed up the vibration traveled down to the valve cover.

    • @TractorHoarders
      @TractorHoarders  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Chad, I would not let this minor thing worry you. The failure rate leading to engine issues is fairly low, which is the reason why John Deere hasn't proactively issued a bulletin to replace all of them. If you are buying brand new, this is something you don't need to worry about. Tractors before 2019 you may want to examine. If you're buying used from a dealer, I would ask them to update this before you taking delivery. The 1025R is a solid tractor. This would not detour me from purchasing another one. I have a 1025R playlist on my channel that may be of interest to you since you're researching. Hey Terry, thank you sir! I have decided to not call them out in negative light. I'd be happy if I could build a positive relationship (or even partnership) with them in the future. To the opposite though, in the past I've purchased a brand new JD tractor and Gator from Boones (boonespowerequipment.com) in Brookville Ohio, and they are amazing.

    The fix kit is basically the same design the 1026R used in 2011. Slight difference in the way the hoop mounts to the bulkhead, but the mass is isolated from the valve cover the way it should be. Why on earth did they change the design to what it was? Looks like maybe for a larger housing and more air filter capacity? But mounting that mass incl hefty bracket to a vibrating die-cast engine cover makes no sense at all.

    • @TractorHoarders
      @TractorHoarders  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, agreed and not sure. It’s my understanding the 1023e was different and not sure if they were trying to match it for costs efficiencies or what.

      I can’t answer if they should or should not, but the fact is that they don’t. I recommended spending the money to buy the updated kit and install it so that you don’t risk an engine failure.

    Why does it destroy the engine when the cover cracks?

    • @TractorHoarders
      @TractorHoarders  ปีที่แล้ว

      The metal pieces drop down through the broken valve cover and go into the valves. What happens beyond that, I'm not sure, but the outcome is almost always a full engine replacement from what I've read.

    • @TractorHoarders
      @TractorHoarders  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alan, not really... your dealer can find it under Deere Solution #8LV188. It's considered Repair/Replace if broken. That particular solution expires soon to my knowledge, so you may want to check it out soon; however, take a look under your hood and you'll be able to tell if it applies to you or not by the orientation of your air filter assembly. If yours is a 2020, you should have the updated design. Doesn't hurt to check though.

    So let me get this straight. A John Deere part fails, or has the potential to fail and destroy the engine and you get to pay for it?

    • @TractorHoarders
      @TractorHoarders  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Deere will cover it under warranty if it fails and destroys your engine under warranty. Or you can spend $160 and avoid a surprise. Covering it myself is well worth it to me. This tractor makes me a lot of money for snow removal. The downtime is a bigger potential monetary loss than the parts to do the upgrade.
      Everyone’s situation may be different. If you can sustain a surprise failure and not care how long you’re without your tractor for repairs, you can absolutely wait.

  • @robertstrand6036
    @robertstrand6036 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    JD will replace it for free if you ask them. However if you don’t ask them, they won’t step up and make it right.

    • @TractorHoarders
      @TractorHoarders  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This varies by dealer and the PIP to replace it has expired. I, like many people, had a dealer which would not proactively replace it. I agree though that you should first ask your dealer to take care of it. Never hurts to ask.

    • @TractorHoarders

      Once you get the new assembly on, it's not bad. You just remove the end cap on the filter housing, pull out the old filter, put the new one in, and put the cap back on.
