I just installed mine on my 2025R. Wow what a difference. They did add a 3rd set of holes to mount it farther back. They also now supply a set of bolts for the seat belts.
I had to run the numbers. A 7/16 x 14 thread bolt would fit in a 12mm x 1.75 thread. But it's about 1/32" thinner meaning less thread contact. The way it works out is: 7/16" = .437" dia. 12mm / 25.4 = .472" dia. (.035 is very close to 1/32 or .031") The 7/16 bolt has 14 threads per inch. The 12mm x 1.75 has, (25.4 / 1.75 =) 14.51 So the 7/16" bolt will fit in the 12mm x 1.75 somewhat loosely but would start binding threads at about 3/4" depth. It's possible that there may have been minor thread damage that prevented the 12mm from starting but the 7/16" slipped past. It's likely that if full torque was applied to the bolt it will strip if it is incorrectly sized. A grade 5, 7/16" should be torqued to 41 Ft/Lbs. A grade 8 12mm 73 ft/lbs.
Tim I had a zero turn mower with the old style seat, and when I traded, the new one has the seat that you installed, It is a night and day difference in comfort and ease on my back! Great upgrade. Blessings.
After the bounce of driving over a tree root required a few days for my back to recover, I replaced the factory seat on my 1023E with a Grammar suspension seat. Best investment I made, at least as far as my back is concerned. I had to fab together a mount because of the seat angle. Glad to see someone now makes an off the shelf mount. Thanks again for sharing.
@@Pmeyer1226 I went with the MSG85/721. I chose this combo for the 4" suspension travel. Lots of seats out there only have 1-2 inches of travel which, IMHO, limits just how much of a shock they can absorb. This seat also had the option for a lateral isolator in case the side to side motion caused me back problems, but the vertical suspension worked good enough.
TIP, LocTite "FunTak", or similar adhesive putties made for mounting posters and photographs to walls, are a handy adhesive for holding nuts and washers on a wrench, when you need to use the wrench to position a nut at the end of a bold to get it started.
perhaps on the bottom of that seat, they made the hole fit the entire bracket that you took off the old seat for the seat switch. That would eliminate trying to get that under the fabric and make it easier to install from the top (outside) side.
I’ve always wondered if I could put the seat from my 740r Zero Turn on my 2025r. The ride differences night and day. Be nice if they made brackets so you could reuse the flip over bracket for use with the backhoe. 🤞🏻
Hi Tim. Very nice seat. It reminds me of the one I had on my 3033R. It might be worth adding a switch when the seat is being assembled at the factory. I tried adding a jumper to the seat switch on my 2022 2025R. It worked one time. I left it run to make sure it was going to work and it seemed fine. I shut it off and the next time I used the tractor it wouldn’t start. I tried everything and ended up removing the jumper and putting it back together.
Just installed one on a cub cadet zero turn and honestly wasn’t as dampening as I thought for the $600. Will keep because original seat ripped but costs too much for what it is. I might get a $20 gel seat pad or inflatable airbag to place under seat assembly to supplement.
I mow with my X738. I keep the front hinge pin in the highest position. My yard is hilly causing me to keep pushing myself to the back going down hill. After a while it becomes tiring. I try to keep my seat back vertical for comfort and help prevent sliding out. Dealer talked me out of air seat. I bottom out the factory springs and I am sure I would bottom out Ken's springs. Without doing some measuring I think my 20025R seat is the same. I need to see what this seat fits.
I may try your spacers trick to change the angle of the seat back. I feel that the back of the OEM seat is reclined a little too much to suite me. The new seat looks good and comfortable.
My cub came with this type of seat I liked it a lot, but I like it even more now because my wife kicked me off the zero turn and I don't HAVE to mow anymore. One suggestion Yes take the seatbelt stuff off first but maybe pull that long bolt or hing pin out that holds the seat to the mounting frame and get the seat out of the way Happppppyyy newyear be safe.
Perhaps the under seat material to the switch could be slitted and hook & pile Velcro could be used to open and close the material to make installation of the switch easier?
I doubt you will ever see that video as it is bypassing a safety feature. Anyone publishing such a video in the US, would likely find themself with a sizable fine if not a law suit if someone got injured.
I grew up in the late 60’s and 70’s. How did we ever survive without those seat safety switches?? We were smart enough to understand that if you stuck your foot under the mower with the deck engaged, you would get it cut off!
Thanks for your video. I installed mine about four weeks ago, and I need to go back and put those spacers in if indeed, it came with them. If not, Tim, do you know where I can get such spacers or something else that may work? One thing I’m not happy with the seat is that it is way too close to the steering wheel for me, and I installed it as far back as it would go. I have new brackets coming from the manufacturer, but I’m not sure with that even if it’s going to be back far enough as I am tall. 6 foot two. I was surprised that you two guys were happy with how tight the space is to get on and off the seat. The directions for the seat switch were very confusing. I ended up jumper cabling mine and will probably leave it that way. Outside of that, I love the seat in terms of its comfort and support. After three back surgeries, it really helps to have a seat that doesn’t bottom out on every bump you hit.
Hi Tim, I need to replace the seat on my 2038R. My fields in Texas are way too rough for the stock seat. I’ve heard there is a seat that can work with some fabrication but I’m not 100% sure what can work. Are you aware of an air suspension seat that fits the 2038 R?
This seat would be a great option. It’s not an air seat, but it is just as good! Perhaps even better from a suspension standpoint. I find it incredibly comfortable.
Can you explain all the advantages to this seat over the OEM? I see it looks bigger and more bounce. Anything else? Price? For me, going back farther would be great. I would definitely like to see the seat tilt. Sometimes I have to leave my 1025R back in the woods and I tilt the seat up to keep any moisture off. And in the barn I like to tilt it to keep the muddy paws of the cats off it. Will the OEM seat cover still work? I see Dan had one on the old seat but he didn't transfer to the new seat or at least not in this video. I like that you are always showing viewers new stuff. I don't know what is available. Thank you. Thanks for sharing.

My LS tractor seat is like sitting on a piece of metal and with my long legs not very comfortable and I bottom it out. I have an adjustable seat on my zero turn which probably from the salt air in Florida ceased it up. And I can't move the seat forward or back which isn't needed
Tim, are there any model year requirements/restrictions. My 1025R is a 2017 model and really don't want to fork over that much money and waste my time only to find out after the fact that it's not compatible with earlier year models.
Thanks for getting back to me. No backhoe so no worries there. Guess I'll have to get my order placed. Thanks for the demo install. My back could use all the help it can get. @@TractorTimewithTim
Finally got around to installing this seat. And man you weren't kidding about that seat switch being a royal pain in the butt. But I managed to get it. My only complaint is it's awfully close to the steering wheel. Even mounted it as far back as I could. Wondering if we swapped those rails upside down and used the slotted cuts to the tractor? The seat itself is way more comfortable...just not happy with the distance to the wheel. Also...my kit didn't come with the bolts for the seatbelt.
I sent an email Trac Seats about the legroom issue and the tilt shims. They promptly replied and are sending the new upgraded rails and spacers. Now that's customer service!!
Seat switch on mine would kill the machine if I even leaned forward to see the loader/forks etc. mine has a lever type switch (Kubota) so a zip tie managed the bypass.
Is there an option for this seat, for the tractors that you have to rotate the seat around to use the backhoe. My tractor is slightly older I've got the old style backhoe with one seat and not two.
I came to within one click of placing my order. But then got worried about how far back the seat would be, especially if I was shipped one with the original brackets. I tried to approximately measure the position from the video. Both Tim and Mr. Hoosier look really close to the steering wheel, even with new style brackets and front spacers, and it looked like they had to twist around in a small space to dismount even with the steering wheel up. Anyone willing to measure and post the distance from Trac seat front edge to center console, so I can compare the room for my knees between stock seat and this one? Even with the stock seat all the way back, my knees sometimes turn on the light switch or have even turned off the ignition switch while I am operating the tractor.
I think the brackets have been modified even further, with an additional hole for further back positioning than Hoosier Dan’s has. I need to put the updated brackets on mine and then I could measure for you.
Trac Seat says this seat will NOT go on a 1023E! Do you contend that it will? (I do not care about the seat switch; I disabled that as soon as I got the tractor.)

Great job and explanation. I think there needs to be a video on installing the jumper for the seat switch.
