Also, Nintendo should have made Luigi look more Luigi-esque in BOTH the prerelease and the final version instead of being simply known as "Green Mario." That would be more accurate.
Why the hell does Hard4Games not get more views? Tony's videos are well-produced, entertaining, and he has a great personality, not to even mention he covers some pretty obscure and rare items which you'd think would bring in views. This channel deserves a few hundred thousand subscribers at least, up around Beta64's area, I'd say. Even the Pokémon Center NY video, which I would argue is one of the most significant finds in Pokémon history, has under 350K views, and he does an excellent job covering everything about Pokémon Center NY along with his analysis and tests of the hardware and software.
@@hard4games Do you think Nintendo being confidential with their prototypes will eventually cause Mario fans throughout the world to start a revolution against the company??
Man, these are one of those legendary games that bring me to tears. Love seeing this kind of stuff when it comes to Mario and Zelda games. Excellent showcase!
One of the devs here. For some reason Yoshi's fire breathing is bugged, but we have have since implemented the correct (and much less useful) original fire breath function and design from the .obj file.
seeing this finally happen is awesome, i remember spending days looking at every single sprite and asset back during the gigaleak of 2020. Even if it's not perfectly 1 to 1 because we've never actually seen prerelease levels, just getting to run around with these weird transitional NES to SNES sprites is super cool
I know there was an unfinished North American version that came in the box, with the system too in the early nineties, they stopped selling them in mid nineties. But I’m quite sure it was titled smw Mario Bros 4 on the title. And it had some enemies from Mario bros 3 on it, but got scrapped from newer Mario world North American makes, which is why nobody knows anything about those enemies on it. But it was still different than this, since this game was sold in stores, with the system all in one box.
While this project is awesome, I can see why they said, it looks "just like another Super Mario Bros". The final game definitely changed for the better in terms of visuals and presentation, but this beta version was always intriguing to me.
The Mario sprites don't look like the early screenshots in EGM back in the day. Also there is not transparency on the water like in the early screenshots.
Hmm, do not believe it was ever intended t9 be a port of SMB3. Pretty sure it has been said 3 and 4(World) were in simultaneous development. I think it more like they built some of 3 if not all of it in the World engine to get to know the new engine without having to come up with a completely new design from scratch. World in a lot of ways is a bigger version of 3. It adds new stuff while expanding on the ideas of 3 because it isn’t hindered by the technical limitations of the NES.
Before developing smw they ported smb3 as an experiment to test out the capabilities of the super Famicom, that port was later used as a base for super mario world, so no smb3 and smw weren't in simultaneous development.

Thank you for featuring the project on your channel! Any questions you may have, we can answer in the replies 🔽
Are the sprites of yoshi's fire attack supposed to look like how they did in the video?
Not a question, but some advice: Lay low and get scarce before Nintendo is busting down your door with C&D orders.

Thank you for this cool project. Good luck! :)
very cool stuff this is what keeps the homebrew alive, thank you
With the amount of sprites archived from SMW’s development history, this project’s gonna be BIG!!

Amazing to look back to see first look. Small Mario looks more resemble to to the 8-bit classic Super Mario Bros.
Of course Small Mario does! The prerelease is a Super Famicom port of Super Mario Brothers 3
Oh man I can’t wait till this is finished, it already feels like a semi official experience a lot of other mario hacks give off, vibes.
Yoshi's Fireball animation looks like three Sprites of his own head but in orange and red! I can't be the only one who sees it right?
Not to be rude, but I thought it was very obvious. I would be surprised if no one else caught that.
man, i love the derpy yoshi
"And here we have our Yoshi, he's pretty horrifying". The deadpan way that line was delivered cracked up more than it should have
I now know that this exists and am a little excited about it. Thank you.
I love seeing beta projects like these. Gives us a glimpse of what we could have gotten. Just like that Mario 64 Beta project.
It’s like one of those weird japanese games we never got found somewhere in a pit, or another spaceworld demo like the pokemon one.

Merk everyone knows .obj files are used to store 3d models! Are you lying merkurii from Kinoko Island developer team?
This is so cool, can't wait to play it!
man i dunno why but the SMW beta always fascinated me so much, even more than the sm64 beta to some extent. Thanks for the video Tony!

Nintendo had a massive leak of the beta for Super Mario World. It's called Super Mario Bros 3.
Woah. I always wanted to see someone do this! Love it!
People forget that the “beta sprite” was in front of us the entire time! The mario overworld chosing levels🎉
Y’know, the beta Yoshi looks cursed when he opens his mouth. 2:34
The fire sprites are straight up just Yoshi's face 😂
modders made an error
Oh man SMW today it's pure gold nice video pal.
That fire attack looks like glitch graphics to me
2:51 how is spitting out yellow yoshi heads any more realistic? 😂
Incredible, this is the best kinda stuff!
You're spot on with your pronunciation of Kinoko. No need to be so hard on yourself!
AUTUMN BLAZE 😍
Kinda crazy to think a possible fully functional beta version of super mario world is somewhere at Nintendo
Yoshi's face should be derpy on the World Map too

At 3:04, when Mario makes Yoshi shoot out his tongue, Mario's Raccoon ears disappear for a frame! (edit) I shall NEVER tire of mode 7 goodness!! :D :D
2:09 Is this a forest cave? 3:53 Back when Luigi was Green Mario.
Didn't even realize it was a forest cave. Very cool!
He was also green mario in smw final, he only got a differentiated look when smas+smw came out
I love this channel.
some smw beta things are now in super mario construct
Omg. This version its crazy. I have tried many version. Best out there its proyect 89. Tell us the news of this game.
yes
I think the Mode 7 dance deserves an A-
I can confirm this is original by nintendo
I'm wondering what came first, Super Mario World or the Super Mario Wacky Worlds on CD-i from Philips and Nintendo that never came out?
Where is bowser's castle/his world in this beta of the game?
Lol that fire sprite is bugged. It's Yoshis head
Ok anyone else noticed the guy talking kinda looks like bass guitarist Davie from the youtube channel davie504
I want aDOWNLOAD. Please!
Handsome Hung TONY 😍😍😍

You might be thinking of a different build, the one shown in this video was meant to showcase their late ‘89 recreation
the beta version of super mario world is much better than the final version.
One question, will you have a final level to face Koopa or not?
4:09 OwO
question how did you have the rom if it still didn't release did the people that working on the project ask you to cover it before it release
Yes, I think I mentioned this in the outro
@@hard4games yes sorry i didn't see the video in a whole
The Mario games always remind me of the time my grandfather forced me to eat my own pubic hair on a sandwich.

Hi. Please. Whats the web page of the creator, or where i can download this rom?
It was a private build specifically meant for H4G only

@@codysantocildes3178 they were probably hoping it was a early beta of the game.
it's a rom hack so you can still play it on your snes :p
