The only lost or cancelled Mario Games that I know are Super Mario's Wacky Worlds, Super Mario Spikers, Mario Takes America, and Super Mario 128. Awesome video. You really nailed the fewling of when rhis first came out. I started playing Nintendo in 1988, but i was super young. I was pretty cognizant dueing Mario bros. 3 hype and release's. Everyone was genuinely going buts for this game. We were even getting mad happy meals at mcdonalds trying to collect all the toys. The happy meal box itself was really cool. So then fast forward a bit to Mario world being announced. Holy shit the hype. To this day, Mario world has to be one of my favorite hyped releases. I was in my 20's during the 2000's, so i got to do a lot of mid night releases, and I got to get a wii during black friday, but the overall sensation of Mario worlds anricipation and release, i suppose its bias from being a small enough kid, or maybe its just how positive and happy seemingly the entire public conscious was about it. I suppose it was part from that sort of "innocence" of the 80s and 90s that's been lost to time. But ive never experienced a gane quite like it. Where 100% of people were giddy no matter how young or old. Even if you werent playjng it, youre about to be parent/grand parent/relativeof the year for getting it for whoever. Let it show you the impact this game has, that my crusty ass about to turn 39 on the 27th has never stopped giving this game a yearly playthrough (or peruising thr lovely rom hacking community) since day 1.
