It was worth the wait cobber. Some more of your top shooting. Thank you mate.🤠
Cheers mate. Yes sorry it’s been far to long. Thanks for watching 👍👍
Excellent as always
Thanks mate good to see you in the comments again 👍😁
*Controlled Recoil - NZ Hunting* Bravo well done, thank-you sir for taking the time to bring us along. GOD Bless.
Thanks for watching. Great to see you back in the comments 👍😁
@@controlledrecoil-nzhunting You bet!
Brilliant shots man. Love being able to follow and see what you see through the trigger cam. Keep it up man
Thanks mate. Yeah it’s a great bit of kit, has been a game changer for me. Cheers
Another excellent video, that pig rooting at the start takes me back to my King Country days.
Shoot a lot with a 22 Hornet with great effect.
Keep the great content coming.
Wana by a cz K hornet
Thanks, yes the good old 22 hornet is an under rated cartridge especially when reloaded. Appreciate it 👍😁
Awesome video as always..keep up the good work
Thanks mate. Cheers for watching and taking the time to comment 👍
Love your videos. Keep up the great work
Thanks mate. Your support is much appreciated 👍
Wow. I’m amazed and shocked at how well those subs dropped the goats.
Yes they are ok at short ranges with perfect shot placement. Surprisingly effective.
The longer shots were still high power ammunition. Thanks for watching 👍😁
@@controlledrecoil-nzhunting I have a .22 LR in my collection of rifles and pistols. I’m not sure if the ballistic difference between the two but I know how precise you have to be with shot placement.
No problems bro. I have been following for a while and have chatted to you before. I just haven’t commented for ages sorry. 🇦🇺
Mate no worries great to have your support. The 22LR subsonic is essentially the same as the 22mag subsonic out of the same barrel length. The high power ammunition is where the difference is. Cheers mate.
Awesome bro
What ammunition did you use?
(Subs and high)
Winchester subsonic, not sure if they are still making it. High power- Hornady critical defense FTX 45gr. Winchester super X 40gr. CCI game point 40gr. 👍
That was wicked mate, not a lot more to say other than 'awesome'
Cheers mate thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it 👍😁
Once again nice clean shooting and great weather and scenery as the back drop
Thanks bud appreciate you taking the time to watch 👍👍
Another quality Vid mate! Nice shooting - those sub sonics do the job. It's amazing the amount of damage that Pigs do. Cheers!
Yes they are very destructive. Unfortunately for them they would be targeted a lot less if they didn’t make so much damage. Thanks mate great to see you in the comments again 👍😁
Nice one, great work
Cheers mate , thanks for watching 👍
Impressed with those subs on small calibre. Great shooting obviously helps. Awesome little vid!
Yes they work well. I’ll be doing some hunting with some 308 subs soon too. Cheers 👍👍
definitely a thumbs up on your video, keep them coming
Thanks much appreciated 👍😁
Awesome bit of conservation 😮
Thanks bud. Good to see you in the comments again 👍👍
Awesome shooting. Thanks for the video.
Cheers mate thanks for watching 👍😁
Awesome hunt and good shooting mate. good to see what the .22mag is capable of 👍
Cheers mate good to see you in the comments 👍👍
Thats some bloody good shooting mate nice little set up
Cheers bro. Good to see you in the comments again 😁👍
Really impressive. Cheers👍

Mate. Great camera work and great shooting. Subbed!

Nice work with the 22 Mag. Mean as bro

Jeeze you hunt some amazing country!
Thanks mate. Yeah there’s some great country around here. We are very lucky in New Zealand. Cheers 👍
Yeah man lots of nice shots and man that was some good looking hunting I would love that experience
Cheers bud. Where are you based? If you’re keen for a hunt private message me , details at the end of the video. See if we can make something work.👍
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼………………………………………………..I’m impressed. I’ve looked at those rifles before and passed, maybe I should reconsider!! Good shooting!
Yeah iv put couple of thousand rounds though it. It’s never jammed or missed a beat once. It doesn’t cycle the subsonics though, have to use it like a straight pull. Cheers 👍
I hunt pigs as well and dang good job on the goats and pigs. Being able to sneak up on an animal with a great nose like a pig is impressive.
Cheers mate. Always fun to get back to basics I like the long range stuff but can’t beat the excitement of stalking in. Thanks for watching.👍😁
Like a few others on here, I can’t believe how a sub sonic round, that small and light, dropped those animals so well.
I love CZ from the few I’ve had a chance to shoot, or own. Like the Flektarn cammo too. Why spend a ton of cash when you can get such good hunting clothes for pennies
Hi, thanks 👍. Yes I agree if you pick and choose the right items the mil surplus gear can be a great choice.
Love the footage. That's enough meat for a king size BBQ. Dinner is at your house (chuckle)
Yes, certainly no shortage of meat at the moment. Ha for sure 👍👍
Informative video. It’s good to see you doing this as I don’t think the effectiveness of the .22 rimfire cartridges is at all well understood for this category of game / pest. Precisely shooting for central nervous system (brain or spine / high shoulder) will deal to them just fine. Standard heart/lung shots are going to result in long, slow bleedouts. There are still plenty of experienced deer cullers head shooting deer, pigs & goats with subsonic rimfire on farms here in the CNI. In country such as ours the stealth factor of suppressed subsonics is really the only way to get any measure of control on the pest, particularly at night with thermal.
I’m curious as to the choice of rifle / config. How much does that configuration weigh? Are you shooting it exclusively offhand in the sitting position? I was wondering how balanced that config is with the torch and suppressor on the end of the barrel. I’ve tried various semi-autos with subs and found that when running a suppresser, there were occasional problems cycling the bolt, and the fouling was terrible. Now use a Bergara BMR Carbon bolt action with no real penalty in terms of speed of cycling. I mostly use a long bipod in the sitting position. The tacticool attachments are very handy these days with the ability to quickly unclip the bipod for offhand shooting.
(Just don’t put the bipod down in the long grass, and then forget it………..)
Keep the cool videos coming!
PS I also where Flecktarn from Army & Outdoors. Perfect for our conditions.
I agree the .22 are underestimated. It’s actually a pretty light setup . Nothing like a 10/22 but a lot lighter than it looks. Its a little front heavy but I don’t mind that. It doesn’t cycle the subsonic rounds but I don’t think it’s the suppressor. I don’t think the CZ were designed to use subs with the harder cycling spring. This is the reason why they are so reliable with the high power ammo I believe.
A lot of sitting shots, but a good mixture of prone also.
I was looking a getting a Bergara myself, really like the look of them.
Yeah love the Flecktarn camouflage 👍👍
You say that it doesn't cycle the subsonics, did it dent the follow-up rounds? If the 512 doesn't do subsonics nicely I think I'll stay away from one!@@controlledrecoil-nzhunting
Hi,
I’m not sure they were ever designed to fire subsonic rounds. Either way they don’t cycle in my rifle. No damage to the other rounds. It just has to be manually cycled as a straight pull.
It is a bit of a shame as they are very accurate and have a real advantage at times.
Cheers.👍
Gidday from the Sunny coast 👊
Good to c ur vid drop mate an cool to c u using an unusual rifle. Could u at some stage maybe do a rundown on the gun an the 2 different ammo u use for it? Maybe at the end of a vid??
Stay safe budd🤙
Yup sure can 👍 thanks for watching and the feedback 😁
@@controlledrecoil-nzhunting pleasure 👍👍
Great shooting. The .22 magnum is a good option.
Thanks bud. Yeah quite an underestimated round but very effective on light skinned game.👍😁
Great vid cheers m8 Good quality video and lots of handy gear info..
Just picked up one of those cz's and keen to get out with it on small game. Will defo try those critical defence rounds.
Question on the scope if you dont mind...what are you using? Dialing up or bdc for those quick shots at varying distances?
Thanks!
Hi, yes the critical defence rounds are great on game with the 45gr projectile.
This has a 2-7x scope and I’m using hold over with the reticle.
Personally I think it would get even better results with a light 3-9x or 4-12x but I’ve chosen this combo to keep it fast for the up close shots. Thanks for watching 👍😁
@controlledrecoil-nzhunting thanks for reply. I've just picked up a cheapish nikko stirling 4-12 that has dial up turrets for various rimfire loads...so will be curious to see how it performs. Won't be as quick as the bdc though....
Thanks for sharing. Great shooting.
Can I ask what ammo you were using in the 22 Magnum please, that was very effective with the shot placement.
Hi, I use the heavier projectiles for this application. Minimum 40gr but mostly 45gr.
Winchester makes the subsonic rounds I use. These are only for very close range and perfect shot opportunities. Winchester
super X, CCI game point is great. Hornady critical defense 45gr FTX is a standout. Perfect expansion and weight retention. Found many perfect mushroomed projectiles in the larger game. Have taken deer cleanly with that round too. Thanks for taking the time to watch 👍
@@controlledrecoil-nzhunting
Many thanks.
Wicked stuff
Cheers 👍😁
Neat little rifle bro. Some nice shooting bro😜😜
Thanks mate. Yup it does pretty well for a 22mag.
@@controlledrecoil-nzhunting I think it’s more the nut behind the bolt bro😜😜
A gun is only as good as it’s operator.
@@chrispyskiwiadventures3583 Thanks, yes that is true but it’s nice to have the accuracy in the rifle system to work with 😁
Always enjoyable to watch your uploads, keep up the good work, what range roughly are you knocking them over at with the subbies and hot rounds? Thanks again, 👍
Hi, the subsonic rounds are only good for head shots preferably from the side or back of the head. You can shoot them in the shoulder but they run 20-30 yards before dropping similar to a bow shot. I personally rather wait for the head shot or just use the high powered ammunition. It’s really about how far you’re accurate with them but I try to be 60m or closer. High power ammunition is good to 150 with good accuracy and ammunition. I have clean shot a goat at 200 but I certainly wouldn’t attempt or recommend it again as that really is pushing the limit and is unnecessary. It does show its lethality though however that was with a customised gun not the CZ. I can’t stress enough the accuracy needed for effective knock down, you really must be patient and only take perfect shots. The other factor to consider is ammunition variables. Some ammunition simply isn’t consistent enough to use for this application. Thanks for watching.👍👍
@controlledrecoil-nzhunting thanks for your detailed reply, the reason I asked is its hard to judge distances going off the video!, and yeah I agree I have taken several animals out to @80mtr with a 22mag but wouldn't push it much further myself, cheers again
Yes good point I might start adding the range when I used the TRIGGERCAM 👍
@controlledrecoil-nzhunting nah don't sweat it, what your doing is great 👍
Nice shooting
Thanks bud 👍👍
Hey there, just seen you have the same platform. I couldn't get mine to work suppressed. What did you do to have your cycle. I'm shooting Aguila 40g and it still wouldn't function.
Hi. Mine works flawlessly with any high power ammunition suppressor or not. However it won’t cycle subsonic rounds and must be used like a straight pull to cycle each round.
They unfortunately were never designed for subs I don’t think.
Thanks for getting back to me. Ahh true, must just be mine. Had a hushpower on it. Even supersonic for me. Had to put a aftermarket firing pin in too. The factory mark 1's were causing some trouble. Runs nicely now with a muzzlebrake, but by hell it cracks off lol. Love ya content. Keep it up. Dom - Eastwoodarb
Canterbury
Yeah I bet it does. Quite noisy little cartridge Unsuppressed . Cheers mate
Hey mate what subs did you use? And any issues with the feeding? Thanks
Hi, I was using Winchester subsonic 40 gr hollow points. They are very accurate but don’t have enough energy to cycle the action. So I manually operate the action like a straight pull when using sub rounds. One of the most reliable semi auto’s I’ve ever used when using high powered ammunition.
Cheers
Where do you get the 22mag subs from hard to find locally ?
Hi yes unfortunately I haven’t been able to get any for a while now. I was using Winchester. Unfortunately I’m unsure if other brands made it. Fingers crossed we see it back on the shelves.
Cheers mate
Great shooting.
.22mag is obviously a capable cartridge in your hands.
Cheers mate. Thanks for watching 👍😁
Thats some mad skilz there bro! Do you do it as paid work?? Hopefully youre getting ammo paid for at minimum! Landowners must be appreciating it.
I have done it professionally in the past but just helping out in these videos. Yes it can be quite some effort to do it effectively at times. But all in good fun. Thanks for watching 👍😁
Have you thought about doing subsonic with the 308?
Hi, yes I do use them in the 308. The hornady. 190gr subx projectiles have been a game changer. Do you use subsonic rounds?
Hey mate are you a firefighter? I’d like to ask some questions about the rifle.
Hi, no I’m not a firefighter😁. I do have a good friend that is, and he has a TH-cam channel too. What would you like to know?
Do you bring the goats and pigs out or just leave them on the mountain.
I bring as many out as I can. We use them for dog food as well as eating them ourselves. We use working dogs to shift livestock and have 2-3 teams to run our farming operation. They do take some feeding. All these animals are introduced and have no natural predators so numbers must be controlled anyway to stop overpopulation and damage to our native bush. We try to utilise as much as we can. Cheers 👍😁
👍@@controlledrecoil-nzhunting
Frothing to get back after the pigs lad
Yes definitely needs to happen. 👍👍
Nice job Mate, what cal. is the CZ ?
Hi, it’s a 22 magnum (22 WMR).
Thanks for watching 👍😁
@@controlledrecoil-nzhunting i've got the Ruger 10/22 in both the .22lr and the .22wmr version, i have shot fallow with the .22lr, as long it's a headshot, they r done
That’s awesome, would love to get a 10/22 in 22mag. Yes they are very effective when used right. 👍

Leave some goats for us😂
Don’t worry we won’t run out mate 😁👍cheers .
Greetings from Oz...first time on your channel - great vid, thankyou. One question...what subsonic .22wmr are you using? I was told none were available since Winchester stopped making them a while ago.
Hi , thanks for watching. Yes your correct. Unfortunately there are little to no options at the moment. Luckily iv got a few leftover 😉
Do you have any trouble with the subs not ejecting? Mine won’t eject subs well. Also, what full velocity rounds are you using?
@Nathanlikesrum Yes the subs don’t eject in mine, I use it like a straight pull and cycle it manually. I use hornady critical defense FTX rounds. Winchester super X, or CCI game point. 👍
@@Nathanlikesrum At the moment Remington 40gr pointed soft points are shooting well out of a Ruger Precision Rimfire.
Thanks @rossholmes178, I’ve been using the Winchester super x 40gn. Been quite good.
Wich scope?
Hi,
Scope is a 2-7x Red field.
Cheers 😁👍
wth .....22 is a great cal.....if you know how to use it
Cheers thanks for watching 👍👍
Are they over populated? Why kill so many surely you can’t eat all that?
Hi, yes your right I certainly can’t eat that many. We use them for dog food. We have teams of working dogs to run the stock work on the farm they take a lot of feeding. Yes they are overpopulated. Goats are a problem here, as is everything we hunt they are an introduced species with no natural predators. This means hunters both recreational and professional are the only means that control numbers. Without this they would simply wipe out our native plant species. It’s a unique situation in New Zealand, when you harvest animals your actually helping our native environment. Meat recovery operations are becoming more frequent also with helicopters recovering the animals for human consumption along with pet food to utilise the animals being controlled.
Thanks for watching 👍😁
@@controlledrecoil-nzhunting then it sounds like a blast. I’m the USA it’s of course pigs they ruin all the plant life and cause further desertification.
A lot of meat 🥩 for one mate!
Hi, yes there is no shortage of meat around here. I give a lot away to friends etc and we have large teams of working dogs to muster in stock on the farm. 15 dogs eat a lot. Thanks for watching 😁👍
Do u guys eat the pigs?
Hi, if they are in good condition yes, but I stay well clear of any that are struggling or look unhealthy. Thanks for watching 👍
Evidence for those that say 223 isn't effective enough to take medium sized game, Great Video and even better shooting.
Sending support from Australia🙏
Thanks mate. Yes people underestimate how effective even small rounds are. The 223 is a very versatile round and capable of taking deer sized game with no trouble. Accuracy is of course the key. A detailed understanding how small projectiles and their construction work and where to aim accordingly is vital. Of course they certainly have their limitations too and having more firepower is never really a bad thing when it comes to quickly harvesting an animal. But the proof is there.
Really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. Stay safe. 👍😁
Hope all the goats was eaten or dog food
Hi, unfortunately I couldn’t retrieve all of them but I always I take as much as I can. We use goat as our main source of dog food. Many of these were not to far from quad tracks but some of the more remote ones I didn’t get. We have very large numbers that need to be controlled to avoid damage to pasture and native bush. Never nice to waste meat but we can’t allow them to completely take over either, as they are not native here and have no natural predators. I hope you can understand where I’m coming from.
Thanks for watching 👍
So thats a saugage roll. Cool trick.100%
Cheers mate. 😁👍
