In my honest opinion, what truly needs to change about Ubisoft is the people in charge, CEO, executives, all of it. From his insanely delusional statements, like Skull and Bones being a AAAA experience or how we don't really " own " digital games ( which is a sentiment all companies share, there's just an obvious reason why no one says this out loud ), it's as if the people leading Ubisoft are living in a separate reality of their own. Ironically, for how much Ubisoft seems disconnected from their fans at times, this is the company with the most amount of online communication, with devs like Darby Mcdevitt interacting with the AC subreddit from time to time and other instances of the company searching for honest feedback. Which brings me to the recently put out memo from Yves Guillemot to the Ubisoft staff, where he basically admits that Star Wars Outlaws was released unfinished and would be fixed by following patches, he just trusted that sales would be good enough that people wouldn't pay much mind to the game's broken state, which was basically what prompted him to delay Shadows. In short, it's obvious to me that Ubisoft is packed full of extremely talented developers and writers, and whenever they actually put their minds to it, they create amazing products ( the stark contrast between WD Legion's campaign and dlc storylines are proof of what i'm saying ), but no amount of talent can hold together a company that's just poorly led and administrated by delusional individuals that are completely disconnected from their fanbases and consumers. Either these people on the top, including Guillemot himself, changes their views and start working with their company instead of against it, or they'll just have to be removed ( if the company itself doesn't break first )

Ubisoft don't improve on their games and systems, they either remove things that they find remotely hard to balance, or implement a shallow system just so they can advertise it, like Valhalla's social stealth
Their overall strategy that they went with around 10 years ago, starting with AC Origins and Far Cry 5, already was a decision away from games that have a soul and creative vision as their priority and instead focus on maximizing economic success.
But it was a decision that the the fans demanded them to do.Back when Syndicate come out people called the old formulas of the games borring and dated and they demanded that Ubisoft should have change it to something more modern.
@@ΣτέργιοςΜποπότας-ζ1μ That's mainly because Ubisoft released AC games on yearly basis, they burnt out themselves very quickly. Also the buggy releases didn't helped like in Unity's case. The best thing is that in recent years Unity mechanics started to be considered as the best base for the next titles, shame that they scrapped that and started making Witcher 3 clones
I don't know how you can pretend like politics didn't affect the quality of Ubisoft's products, when the company itself recently had to send a memo to their employees that they need to put entertainment first. This after delaying AC Shadows due to low preorders from lack of interest, much like Star Wars Outlaws.
I'm not saying it didn't affect it. I'm saying if you came here to hear the same old 'woke bad durr' video, then this isn't it. This is a video that's not as simple as turning the microphone on, saying the same stuff as the previous 15 videos and call it a day. I agree. Politics has been infiltrated into a lot of media. But Yasuke (if you are referring to him) is not a big deal compared to stuff such as Dustborn or literal games like that where the entire focus is pushing exclusivity.
The didn't delay Shadows due to low preorders. It was ranking in the top for preorders. It's just the investors looked closely at the game and realized that something (I guess, technical part) was not ready. Nobody wants Cyberpunk-style release, especially notyUbisoft, considering their issues with finances
Oh yeah I didn't even see that part of his comment. What an idiotic statement. Shadows was pushed back due to polish and refinement. They saw Outlaws not do well and they can't afford to let their biggest IP not perform. In fact Tom Henderson reiterated a few times now that the pre order sales were good. That was never the issue.
Shadows was literally the top preorder game reaching top 1 in many countries (Japan included) and top 5. It's not about that but how the literal investor we're worried of Shadows current state which could been filled with lots of bugs and a reason why slowly losing their trust with Ubisoft
Not to mention sweet baby inc was made by ubisoft devs.Who also worked on modern day ubisoft games. If people still ignore that. They are just delusional.
Ubisoft please sell your watch dogs IP to better company like Rockstar so we can have one of the best games ever I love watch dogs 2 I wanted more games like that but here we are with dead watch dogs series and Prince of Persia series too
I miss the old AC era.. (Ac 1-Ac 3) not because the new ones are bad games, but because before there was a real intention to tell an incredible story with spectacular characters. Now they do anything to sell, even generating controversy on purpose. It's still my favorite franchise despite everything, i have all of them.
Can we just all admit one simple truth? Assassin's Creed III was the real turning point. Ubisoft turned the franchise aimless after they ended the Second Disaster plotline. After the Second Disaster was avoided, there is nothing to look forward to in the timeline, so Assassin's Creed blatantly turned into a vehicle to milk different time periods in history. We tolerated it for a while when Ubi tried to experiment with gameplay mechanics after III, but we all know this leads to nothing. Assassin's Creed without the future storyline building up to something is just Ubisoft Open World: The Game.
People get defensive about admitting this cause Black Flag is everyone's favorite but what U said is absolute truth.. That, along with how adamant Ubisoft thought that they are capable enough to give games each years at the level like they did AC2 and AC: Brotherhood
it's not hate. Hate is a feeling. They have no feeling for anything other than their own money and power that comes with it. They also stopped to understand, to you can have either, only if you have customers. If you deliver product customers can get elsewhere with either higher quality or better price, customers will leave you.
@@TheHiddenOne690 Yes, i understand figure of speech. , They just do not care either way (hate or love), is what I think. Hate attaches care or effort to it too much IMO 🤷♂. Hate to me implies active sabotage of it. From some people view it may look so. From my POV, taking into consideration only thing that matters to these people is next bonus, hate even refusal to improve requires too much effort on their part. Add YesMan (or YesWoman, or whatever) on top. Problem with corporations is they run about as effectively and as open to new ideas as governments, if not worse. But, yes for sure there may be certain parts of team who actively seek destruction to forward either their envy or agenda. Or both. Future and future sales, will make that very clear we can certainly agree at.
AC Desmon Trilogy and WD 1 are the GOAT and still will be the best. But I actually like Black Flag to (Rouge/Freedom Cry/Liberty/Dead Kings) Unity and WD2.

Assassins creed problem is they want to please everyone and pleased only a few RPG mechanics that they copy pasted in their games is their very mistakes to me
I can’t wait for Assassins’ Creed to be set in Ancient China, where we can play as Marco Polo who is an assassin trying to recover a lost Templar scroll for a special pasta and pizza recipe.
Ubisoft’s is kinda like a fast food restaurant, in the beginning they used quality ingredients. Then over time they use lower quality processed ingredients to put more out faster. Ubisoft seen the success and just stopped putting in the effort to put more games out faster
I hope for a day Ubisoft will bounce back. Most of the game I play are from Ubisoft. All AC main titles All Far Cry main titles With how many games there are just from those 2 IPs, I say that I'm a Ubi fan. I don't want Ubisoft to go away. I want them to stay and be better.
I think we should also make a distinction between hating on Ubisoft's Management and hating on their Dev Studios which are full of talented people actually passionate about the games they make loving the work they do
Hey, now, Eivor was written really well. There's just so much content and a long story that there are parts that don't really seem as they were needed in the game. AC hasn't declined, it's just got different experiences and some people prefer the old or new games. The franchise isn't dying, and if it was, we wouldn't be getting so many other games. I also think people look at the older games as games they grew up on so they don't look at the same reused assets, unnecessary collectibles, and repetitive missions have been in AC since the very first game. I also can't believe you overlooked Far Cry Primal. I will say, though, that every game till 6 was mostly good.
Sidenote: I don't think Ajay Ghale is a good character AT ALL. Even though he is voiced, nothing he said and done in cutscenes are meaningful or interesting. Bro is practically a walking killing machine yet the way he talks is still timid. His hatred towards Pagan Min is also not fleshed out. Like if you pay attention to the story, you would question why are we even siding with the Golden Path, and why do we want to kill Pagan Min so much. The gameplay is great, the outpost is much much better than 3, but nope, story and characters is nothing compared to 3.
Exactly how I felt about it. There should have been something else aside from the secret ending at the beginning of the game, a secret mission maybe, where you decide to turn against the golden path and join the royal army. Something that's valid until the ending of game (like far cry 6 with the ability to leave the island) Because ajay siding with the golden path is not sensical at all. (Sure it's excusable to escape from pagan and not enjoy the crab rangoon, but not opening your goddamn mouth to talk and seek explanations from your step father is just stupid)
I’m afraid you cooked with this video, Ubisoft has been prioritizing quantity over quality as of 2017+ From far cry adding damage numbers to assassin’s creed adding leveling and 50 hour filler infested stories to killing off such a unique series like Watch_Dogs. They can redeem themselves if they stick to their word and release their titles polished. Besides that, bringing back shorter than 200 hour games for 60-70 hour quality focused games, with innovations in gameplay and motion captured scenes, they can make a comeback.
I think part of the reason for being influenced by the "quantity over quality" was because of the success of Witcher 3. That game revolutionized RPG and they decided that AC should follow a similar formula. RPG means better game. Not necessarily unless you put in absolutely every effort in every aspects of an RPG games. Objectively speaking, they have not been successful in pulling it off. Copying formula from another successful game is not always the most beneficial choice.
You know how far ubisoft's games quality fell when you find the comparison between FC3 and Odyssey unfair even though they been made by the same company
11:50 ''tedious resource collection, limited stealth mechanics, unlikable characters, unsatisfying combat..." What the actual f*ck are you on? none of that is true, objectively speaking.
They have been using the same far cry 3 formula for a decade now and it has gotten beyond old. They need to either change up their open world structure completely, or make way more focused game like Mirage. They also just need variety in their lineup like they used to back in the day. Of course, as a company, they need to completely destroy their toxic work environment and actually just make fun games that don't cost 100 million dollars.
I think assassin’s creed origins is the perfect blend of open world, with the idea of good narrative. Odyssey and Valhalla went too far on the RPG side of things. It looked like shadows was gonna be more like origins with better stealth mechanics and using ninjitsu skills. I think shadows is gonna be a great game if they stick the landing, I just want to play Naoe the whole game. I already got my samurai fix from Jin Sakai.
I don't understand your point about Farcry is what it is and it's not going to change but then also have issues with the main villains of the later games or the gameplay. I don't think anyone wants Farcry to change. People can see that Ubisoft isn't trying and are just copying and pasting. People want Ubisoft to add to it. Sure people shouldn't expect much more out of Farcry. But then you shouldn't either. It'll continue its path... Nothing more.
It seems like Ubisoft is more focused on marketing instead of the product they are marketing. Also their heavy reliance on saying their games have nostalgia aspects even though the game doesn't even have those aspects.
I think the flipped what these series were about at first the watch dogs story was really personal and then became about doing something for dead sec whereas for ac was first about doing good for the brotherhood and the became personal
Ubisoft simply just doesn't innovate anymore, which is exemplified in how every open world game now takes from their map formula in AC1 for almost 20 years. They literally can't when every sequel to AC is forcefully packed and released within a year. They also keep trying to implement mechanics unique to AC in other games they make, we now have AC-likes such as GoT and it edges out by virtue of having better execution because the game is given reasonable dev time.
Good video. Maybe UBISOFT could sell some of their lesser IP:s so that they can focus on their bigger franchises. I want AC to continue, but not in a stale state. I want it to thrive. For that it requires more care. Frpm bottom down/up in their company.
I have to disagree on saying that the Yakuza franchise didn't change themselves. Sure, for the majority of games it's all about the brawling style of the games. Though their latest two mainline games are all about turn based JRPG. Not to mention the stark difference between the Yakuza games and the vast majority of the Ubisoft games are that, even if things aren't changing much with their foundation, it is always improved upon. That cannot be said for the majority of Ubisoft games.

Watch Dogs 2 is insanely good and I wish we could've gotten another game like it Cyberpunk esp with netrunning and vehicle hacks kinda scratch that itch
assassins creed already has had games with no main protagonist with backstory or face, AKA the mordern day protags in blackflag , rogue , unity and syndicate
Yeah, it really pains me. Ubisoft was my favorite developer in the late 2000s and early 2010s. With great titles like Assassin's Creed 2, Far Cry 3, and Splinter Cell Conviction. Hell I even enjoyed the Prince of Persia remake and lets not forget the great Trials games. Then late 2010s went down hill. I find it funny how you mention the Yakuza series. Because I've been going through the series and I notice the reuse of assets and I'm not upset because they change their systems and content.
unfortunately Ubisoft is not by far the only gaming company that does these practices, esp in the AAA sphere. gaming is all about publishing and moving money now, that's why so many of them turn to netflix series now lol. and they're (almost) all bad too! 😂 just mindless content with no value, subscriptions, game hubs, currencies, early accesses, cutting corners, bugs and glitches. Ubisoft certainly has a lot of expectations on them tho, and exponentially more as time goes by and they keep fumbling. they did create an amazing few franchises, who are all slowly either disappearing or getting turn to slop, so the pressure is truly on from the fans of these great games, for Ubisoft to get it together and just keep creating good quality games. and they will sell!
the reason that i find myself hating ubisoft isnt even the drama, their games keep letting my hopes down and they dont seem to understand like they once did... beyond voting with the wallet, so its a constant let down, but with EA and activision i already have like a lowered bar and dont really care about their products but will congratulate when they do the right thing. Ubisoft takes that congratulation as an excuse to do worse
7:54 Good point. Know why I keep buying Far Cry games even with other story shooter games out there? Because I freaking love Far Cry. If the game strayed too much and did not feel like Far Cry anymore, then why would I buy it? Granted there's not much innovation for the series but I still enjoyed them. While you may counter argue me about AC, which drastically changed. It was never about Assassination Stealth that pulled me to AC. It was going through different historical periods. The stealth and parkour were add ons that I also like. So even if Origins to Valhalla moved away from the stealth focus, I still enjoyed those games. I wouldn't have played Odyssey and Valhalla for 120+ hours each nor bought their DLCs if I didn't enjoy them.
Been replaying the Ezio games after a while, man I know people do love the newer RPGs, I loved origins for instance, but fucking hell the shere difference in quality the 10+ year old games had over the likes of odyssey, Valhalla and mirage is shocking, you can tell they gave a shit about making great genre defining games then and not copying other popular games like Witcher 3
@@TheHiddenOne690 I was like an hour or two in the game when I got the season pass but yeah as far as I remember you just kinda recruited him off the street, he had voice lines for every cutscene and stuff it made for a way better experience
And adding more, i don't think Ubisoft is incapable of making good games. Look at The Lost Crown, it's one of the best metroidvanias that has released this year and now its DLC has also released.
Ubisoft doesn't have the man with the vision, the Cory Barlog or Neil Druckmann. And how could they, instead of focusing on creating one great game they have a dozen studios likely working on multiple projects per IP. So what's the alternative to having that one person with a concrete vision guiding all projects in a recognizable direction for a given IP while allowing for innovation? Outline a formula for the IP and deviate as little as possible from it. Problem solved!
Theyre trendies. Far as I see. Problems with streamlining, committing to the core of what their franchises are and hunkering down to make it its best version. Theyre pulled away by what the other big megapublishers are putting out.
I felt like their" not a strong protagonist" feature is very bad . Selecting the protagonist gender in ac Odyssey, Valhalla and fc6 , every npc is protagonist in wd legion . I get it they want to create diversity , equity in their characters. Then make a strong character with his/her fixed culture and origin to represent them . Not an unknown character who doesnt give that connection to players. I felt like the Darios as protagonist was a pure waste in Odyssey , just make Kassandra the only protagonist. Its more than enough
The thing is that each franchise was unique in its own way and now they try to aply a certain formula to all their games stripping them of their uniqueness. I guess its just the business side of things, trying to appeal to everyone to have as much sales as posibile. Truth is a generic rpg that has half baked mechanics will still sell better than a linear stealth game. Even if a stealth game will sell well its not enough for them. Thats why you get big, grindy, souless games, designed to waste your time and try to mimic aspects of the franchises they are based on.
I don’t think Ubisoft hate their games I think they just don’t know how to respond to criticism. When people hated the original parkour style they dumbed it down until eventually they expanded on it making better than before in any game. When unity released the game was a disaster and Ubisoft didn’t respond properly they instead dumbed down their system. Origins was the first the Ubisoft took a break to really think about how they wanted a AC game to play and move and the games following it expanded on the world but not the lore and story of the games. Ubisoft kinda did the same thing with far cry they started out with great mechanics but dumb it down until eventually we got far cry 5 which imo is the best in the series then abandoned their story. They did the same thing with watch dogs they improved on what the first game had and dumbed down a lot of the mechanics then abandoned the story in legion. I think if Ubisoft actually focused on the story of each game over the mechanics then their games would be a lot better to because they would spend less time trying to fix a parkour system that was never bad just incomplete.
What went wrong with the Far Cry series? Far Cry 3 is what went wrong. A less ambitious and less experimental game than its predecessors (or what I like to call the "Creedification of Far Cry"), numerous downgrades and cut corners. Things like physics, ai, attention to detail, level design, broken uninspired MP and COOP, a map editor that takes 1 step forward and 2 steps back, and a tone-deaf SP that can't match its gameplay to what it tries to convey in its story. How that thing got 9's and 10's is beyond my comprehension. I can understand it if people really like it, and it might be their personal favourite for certain reasons, but it's not flawless in any way shape or form. Just purely looking at the state the MP and COOP were launched in, should already disqualify it from getting 9's and 10's and also make it hard IMO to call it the best in the franchise. Especially if you know something about the titles that came before them. The end result of its success meant an even bigger focus from Ubisoft on making their games even more homogeneous. Less innovation, more sequels that can be made in a shorter amount of time (due to not having put any effort in real gameplay innovation), No original IP's with interesting mechanics any more. Just sequels and big IP's with the same open world mechanics. Those are the only projects that get substantial funding.

I played all the far cry games and 6 is my favorite the gameplay and open world is absolutely amazing
@@Argon69noiceStop lying, Far cry 6 is just Far cry 5 dowgraded in every aspect: Gameplay, story etc.. with bad RPG elements that dont belong in far cry.
@@guilhermelisboa1857It’s his opinion dude. People can like what they like and so can you
@guilhermelisboa1857 Far Cry Primal is my favorite, so I don't see why he can't have an opinion on the franchise.
They just hated it because Giancarlo Esposito had like 5 minutes of screentime and none of the bosses had actual boss battles besides cutscenes.
It is the fault of the investment funds and their demands for horrendous loans: "Money comes in, shit goes out.".
It's all the same: CD-Projekt Red/EA/Ubisoft/Microsoft
Ubisoft please sell your watch dogs IP to better company like Rockstar so we can have one of the best games ever
I love watch dogs 2 I wanted more games like that but here we are with dead watch dogs series and Prince of Persia series too
I don’t want to hate on Ubisoft but after Far Cry 6 and Watch Dogs Legion I’m just done giving them my money
The Yakuza/Like a Dragon comparison don't quite hold up because they did completely change the genre in its 7th mainline entry.

(Ac 1-Ac 3) not because the new ones are bad games, but because before there was a real intention to tell an incredible story with spectacular characters. Now they do anything to sell, even generating controversy on purpose. It's still my favorite franchise despite everything, i have all of them.
There is watch dogs tokyo a manga and a movie but game I say is dead but I love to be wrong about that
Can we just all admit one simple truth?
It's more so a saying. They hate their own games meaning they don't want to see them improved upon. If you know what I'm tryna say XD
I will never forgive them for what they did to Watch Dogs....
From the announcement to finishing that game I hated everything about Legion.
my whole childhood revolved around assassins creed and farcry and now after seeing what has happend to ubisoft it scares me that ill lose my one and only fav game series
Im 26 and my first game was AC2 as well but i really got into it when i was playing bloodlines on the PSP Its crazy the fall from grace AC has had man. The last one i preodered was probably syndicate. Such good times.
Assassins creed problem is they want to please everyone and pleased only a few RPG mechanics that they copy pasted in their games is their very mistakes to me
I hope Farcry goes back to first person interactions because it made the villian so much more intense.
All AC main titles
All Far Cry main titles
With how many games there are just from those 2 IPs, I say that I'm a Ubi fan.
I don't want Ubisoft to go away. I want them to stay and be better.
You forgot to mention that in Watchdogs Legion, they removed the Blackout hack. You cannot blackout the city of London for no reason.
I think we should also make a distinction between hating on Ubisoft's Management and hating on their Dev Studios which are full of talented people actually passionate about the games they make loving the work they do
I LOVE THE WAY YOU EDIT YOUR VIDEO THE SOUNDTRACK ADDED IS SO GOOD ❤❤❤
I miss Watch_Dogs. Granted people did too and Legion was shit. The W_D 1 Incident made the series DOA tbf as well
Hey, now, Eivor was written really well.
More people should play Prince of Persia the Lost Crown because it’s an excellent game.
Something that's valid until the ending of game (like far cry 6 with the ability to leave the island)
Because ajay siding with the golden path is not sensical at all. (Sure it's excusable to escape from pagan and not enjoy the crab rangoon, but not opening your goddamn mouth to talk and seek explanations from your step father is just stupid)
I’m afraid you cooked with this video, Ubisoft has been prioritizing quantity over quality as of 2017+
From far cry adding damage numbers to assassin’s creed adding leveling and 50 hour filler infested stories to killing off such a unique series like Watch_Dogs.
11:50 ''tedious resource collection, limited stealth mechanics, unlikable characters, unsatisfying combat..."
What the actual f*ck are you on? none of that is true, objectively speaking.
@@mba7474 you're watching a video on my own thoughts.. what did you expect?
6:17 cant believe that game was nominated game of the year🤦♂️
They have been using the same far cry 3 formula for a decade now and it has gotten beyond old. They need to either change up their open world structure completely, or make way more focused game like Mirage. They also just need variety in their lineup like they used to back in the day. Of course, as a company, they need to completely destroy their toxic work environment and actually just make fun games that don't cost 100 million dollars.
Ubisoft has sure gotten real comfortable not owning my money as of late.
Ubisoft hit the right direction with unity especially when it comes to parkour. All they had to do was develop the movement and make it smoother
Ubisoft please leave on the table a remake of Far Cry 3 and AC Black Flag on your way out of the door.
I think the flipped what these series were about at first the watch dogs story was really personal and then became about doing something for dead sec whereas for ac was first about doing good for the brotherhood and the became personal
All those people who worked on those games before are no longer working at Ubisoft
I hope Watch Dogs will somehow be revived one day. One of my favourite franchises ever
Cillian Murphy as villain in Far Cry 7 according to rumours❤
They made a game that could be finished within 2-3 years from the start, So It always end up with something that's not quite finished for the scale.
Still annoyed they cancelled the immortals sequel, first one was a great new ip

Watch Dogs 2 is insanely good and I wish we could've gotten another game like it
Cyberpunk esp with netrunning and vehicle hacks kinda scratch that itch
assassins creed already has had games with no main protagonist with backstory or face, AKA the mordern day protags in blackflag , rogue , unity and syndicate
The only ubisoft game I don't like is watch dogs 2
Off topic but you should rank the AC games by their stories
that company prob changed staff like a trillion since they were making fun games, last one was ass creed 2 prob.
Greed man and people who don't have the same passion anymore , that's the only truth companies don't know to make new stuff.
AC Odyssey's facial animations are a masterpiece compared to Star Wars Outlaws...
Can Ubisoft redeem themselves? If there's new leadership and no toxic positivity within their management, then yes.
Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? It's Ubisoft.
I think for me Farcry-2 was better than-3 gameplay wise.If we ignore the story.
Hope they can pull through the storm

And adding more, i don't think Ubisoft is incapable of making good games. Look at The Lost Crown, it's one of the best metroidvanias that has released this year and now its DLC has also released.
"Remember when Ubisoft made great games?"
Yes 😢
Ubisoft doesn't have the man with the vision, the Cory Barlog or Neil Druckmann. And how could they, instead of focusing on creating one great game they have a dozen studios likely working on multiple projects per IP. So what's the alternative to having that one person with a concrete vision guiding all projects in a recognizable direction for a given IP while allowing for innovation? Outline a formula for the IP and deviate as little as possible from it. Problem solved!
Patrice Désilets was that man before getting fired by Ubisoft.
Ac origns has one of the best motion capture in ac games
Those are the only projects that get substantial funding.
man i really can't defend Ubisoft anymore 😔 someone buy this company ASAP
Shouldn’t the original concept for Watch Dogs be possible on this current generation of consoles?
