This "Behind The Seams" is amazing! I am in my late 50s and just started sewing in May. I sew to get "out of my head" and forget about work, etc. Kimberly - I have so much respect for your business, enthusiasm, professionalism and sincere willingness to help. Without FQS and the how-to videos these past months, I would never be where I am today! Bless you for giving me encouragement to do what works for me - that's how I roll too! Sewing and quilting is now my joy - thank you again, Kimberly and the awesome team at FQS.

God bless you for being kind to people who tell you how often to buy new clothes or what to wear in your videos. Personally, I would start wearing the very same shirt in every single video from now on and make it my trademark. People are much too bold and you are much too nice. You always look pin point perfect and your videos are great.

I don’t understand why Kimberly is saying she is wasting fabric? It’s only a waste if the fabric ends up in the trash. She saves her scraps and makes other things with them. It’s not wasting fabric, it’s deferring use until a later date. Smart In my opinion 👍🏻

    • @cathiedawson5961
      @cathiedawson5961 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

She says waste bc i think she used to toss her scraps. She says she uses precuts so her waste was smaller than from buying yardage.

Kimberly, you and your 2:28:13 team are the greatest!!! I found your channel a few years ago when i first started quilting. I realized that all 8 of my moms sisters were all gone now and no one in my generation was carrying on my Grandma’s quilting tradition so i took that on as my honor to her. She was only 3 months from turning 100 and still cutting her fabric pieces by hand with her scissors (this was back in 1997). Im so thankful we have the tools and machines we do today. And of course people like y’all who share their love and expertise with us. Thank you!!❤ 🎉

Kimberly, I loved this video. I am going to go as far to say it is my favorite one! I loved all your tips and loved watching how you do your piecing. I am a pretty well seasoned quilter, but I learned so much! I just wish I could make you know how good you are. Please try not to doubt yourself. Just tell yourself you know you are a good quilter and after making all the ones you have made, you are so experienced and that counts. I could watch you all day. Don’t worry about the time! I am so excited for next week. I cannot wait. I saw so many things I need to purchase‼️❤️ None of my friends sew, so watching your videos is like visiting with friends‼️❤️. Thank you for sharing with us your favorite ways of doing things. Love you‼️♥️

Kimberly, I love your videos. 2 comments, First I love that you say it is yours to do as you wish. I love quilting because there are no rules and you get to do as you wish. I am trying triangles and yes some points get cut off but noone knows but me. I call this a designer effect. 2nd, I love that you are growing out your gray. It is a pretty gray. I let mine grow out when I was about 45. It is freeing and I got more complements on it than I ever did when I colored it. Thanks for all your positivity and your videos during this crazy time.

timestamp 25:20 re: question regarding using a cone of thread; I went to the thrift store, purchased for $1.00, a stand up paper towel holder and use that behind my machine, to hold the large cone threads...it works great, as it also has a little decorative hoop at the top that I use to pass the thread through as well!

D H I found an order stand at a restaurant supply store that has a circle at the top for the thread to go through and it’s tall enough and much more reasonable than the new thread stands.

Brilliant Kimberly. This is how you can get a quilt ready for judging at a show. Everything must be meticulous. Most of us have plenty of fabric and don’t worry about a little waste. Do not be nervous. You advice is golden.

I started P & Q about 5 years ago (seriously), only dabbled before then, & your 2016 Fat Quarter Shop tutorials were some of first I watched. I was amazed at how colour co-ordinated & neat you were...& obviously still are. It was your Jelly Roll Jam video. But can see that you have added so much more to your sessions, which for people like me is very helpful as I still regard myself as a 'beginner'. Just came across this video today more by accident, however, very glad I did as I've learnt a lot...thank you :) Btw, I love your & Lily's natural presentation... & your honesty.
    Best wishes from Canberra, Australia

Thank you for being willing to show how you do your piecing. It’s one of the reasons I like watching different quilting tutorials and shows. I learn something from usually from every person I watch. I have become a pinner because of you actually. I’m a bit OCD, and I have found that pinning has really helped my accuracy.

You are such an inspiration and I learn so much. I am shocked by how people throw really negative , hurtful and sometimes very ignorant comments around, on public forums. So hopeful, Lily with the beautiful voice ,will read all the lovely comments and pass them on to you xx

Omgosh! I saw Lori Holt’s scrap organizing tutorial. My scrap organization was a disaster no matter how often I tried to organize it. A month later, I was given stacks of fabric, most already chopped up. I took Lori’s advise and my scrap are organized!!! Now I’m excited to actually use my scraps! No need to be nervous Kimberly!!! You’re very inspirational. Thank you for all of your tutorials, free patterns, and streams giving a sneak peak of all the beautiful new fabrics coming in. Stay well!!

I don't know why you were nervous, Kimberly. This is one of the most helpful videos that I have learned from! Showing your techniques was so helpful and eye opening! Sharing your experience and what works for you is invaluable to a lot of us. Thank you for this awesome video! Please do more like it

This is my favorite episode! I learned so much. Kimberly your message is so positive. Yes! Be a good person and you do you! It’s so easy to compare yourself negatively to someone else. As a newbie quilter I love learning how things are done. I work full time and have four young kids so my crafty time is limited. Thanks Kimberly and FQS team!

Our sewing habits and what makes the process pleasurable is very personal. Love your videos and always take away at least one new stitching tip or a tool that adds to my sewing arsenal or organization. Keep on taping!!

Stopping at 24 min to comment: I do the scrap squares in storage boxes as well. I also cut strips and even leftover batting. I have an Accuquilt cutter and dies to help with cutting or I just cutting with a rotary and ruler. If you keep up with it, it is awesome because you will always have a prepared scrappy stash that you feel like using because it is organized. OK back to the video.

Thank you so much for all you and your team do and all the hard work you put into your videos and live chats. You can teach this old dog new tricks! I do a few of the same things you do Kimberly especially the notes. I used to have them all on random pieces of paper but kept losing them so now I have them in a gridded notebook and it works great. You are appreciated. Merci beaucoup!

Exactly right Kimberly, I say to do/use whatever technique/tool that works for your brain. I’ve never had a friend return a quilt I gifted them because the blocks were wonky or the points weren’t perfect.
