For a recon tool…. Not for pictures….. the mini 3 is the one. It can go about 6 miles in range… it has the longest battery life…. And if you switch to 1080p… you get a 4 times zoom. That what real men want… who gives a shit about pictures? Waste of time. But for a tool to save your life…. The mini 3 is all you need.
Now the price gap is bigger. On the DJI store the fly more combo with the built in screen controller is 818€ of the mini 3 vs 1188€ of the 3 Pro. 370€ difference right there makes it harder to chose the Pro version
Quite important next to 10 bit D-Cinelike support is also the ability to lower sharpening and noise reduction to -2. With these settings the oversharpening, heavy noise, ghosting and chroma blotches are completely gone. Puts it into an entirely different league.
Thanks for doing this review. I noticed that you render the top+bottom black bars into your video, rather than using a project resolution that matches your intended aspect ratio. When viewing with an ultrawide monitor, this makes the viewing experience worse where it could've actually been better than a standard 16:9 experience. I would recommend using a resolution that matches the "cinematic" aspect ratio you're going for. This won't impact 16:9 screen viewers (they'll still see the black bars on the top and bottom) and ultrawide viewers will be uniquely surprised at the viewing experience!
Great review, Matt. I started with the Mini 2. Bought the Mini 3 Pro 4 months ago. I think the extra $200 is well worth it. No matter which of the two anyone buys, I would recommend the new RC controller. After using the RC N1 with the Mini 2 and moving to the RC with the Mini 3 Pro, I entered an entirely new world. The new RC controller makes flying more convenient, and its features make flying A LOT more FUN. Cheers from Wisconsin.
Hey George. I agree with all your points. As a pro drone cinematographer I still use my Mini 2 on client shoots actually. As long as you get your exposure correct the 4k is great. The question of Mini 3 Pro or Standard really comes down to how painful is the extra few hundred bones. And I agree with you about the controller. Wow I didn’t think it would be THAT much better than using the smartphone as a screen, but yeah. Its much better and more convenient. George what type of landscapes do you shoot?

I just bought a mini 3 pro- I’ve only flown small cheap drones without collision avoidance so im pretty excited to get this thing out and get some great video.
That's a shame that the mini 3 doesn't do D-cine, if it did it would be perfect. The lack of active track isn't the biggest deal but I personally may save and go for the pro for the extra features despite the markup
Hey hey. D-cine is not a true log profile. It doesn’t actually add much dynamic range at all. I’ve done full tests on it and it s more marketing than actual benefit.
I feel like I and most beginners need, beside good drone flying skills, is good learning material about editing software to edit the colors post production. Since I'm a total beginner with video editing and color grading etc.
I enjoyed this comparison. Either way you’re going to get your money’s worth from both drones. DJI made sure we get a wide variety from their mini drones to suit our needs and budget!
I feel like the sensors are overhyped, given that side sensors and above sensors are what are needed to avoid most crashes… neither of which the pro has.
This is, so far, the best video I've seen on this subject. In 1.5 minutes I saw exactly why I would choose the Mini Pro 3 over the Mini 3. Smoothness. If someone cannot see the difference in the smoothness of the Mini 3 Pro when it moves over the jitteriness of the Mini 3 when it moves then I suppose they can save themselves a little bit of money but I would have to have the smoothness of the Mini 3 pro for my own taste.
I really like your smoothness but there is little difference in those two even professional chap who use both those drones says but never mind let me explain your smoothness easier way , is like buying fiesta and fiesta ST line, same engine etc just sports look in at if you have extra to spend ? Spend it but you got have pretty same performance front the same engine
Thinking about buying my first drone. Not planning to ever monetize my drone video content. After watching this video, I thought about how social media compresses images uploaded to their servers and I’m not sure the extra $200 would be necessary to share a video clip of a morning sunrise or sunset. Thinking the Mini 3 would be a good fit for my personal use. However the additional sensors might help a beginner like me prolong a crash.
Awesome and thanks. I'm the photography flyer you refer to mid-way so this sealed the deal for me. I want something to compliment my Avata, which I love for close in flying where ducts save you vs sensors. That said, one thing I don't see covered much anywhere on all this DJI content is how actually good are all these sensors? No one I see talks about it except to mention from time to time when the downwards ones appear to get confused, especially, and not ideally, over water. Maybe that's a boring subject and maybe the sensors just work as people expect, but I'm curious how well that is and how much true protection they actually offer. And maybe boring questions like this is why I don't have a channel. :) Thanks again.
Here's the question I have. I have the DJI Mavic Mini 1 and I have been considering whether to up grade to the mini 3 or mini 3 pro. The jump between the 1 and any of the 3's, is it worth it is it worth the money to up grade or not? Hopefully someone out there can answer that. Thanks.

Why? But the better aperture and sensor+HDR on mini 3 blew the mini 2
I returned mine it couldn’t handle sight winds 😂😂
I am waiting for the iPhone 15 drone adaptor . It will cost more , do less, not be damp, proof, and go obsolete every year. But....Apple.
I'm super happy with my Mini 3 pro !!
The footage of the mini 3 looked better then the mini 3 pro
Both cameras are identicle so in normal modes (not hyperlapse for example) any difference is down to settings and shooting angles/weather/lighting.
he graded the shot so its more of a choice he made as opposed to what "looks good". I would much rather have the option to not have the color burned in. also if one was shot in 8 bit VS 10
I hate that DJI included vertical filming. We should be punishing that format, not promoting it.
I need 3pro in order to shoot vertical mode, RIP wallet
i think mini 3 pro looked better
By accident, not on accident
But I did it!😅 Upgraded my Mini 2 to Mini 3. Best decision ever!
Is it just me or the artifacts in the footage are atrocious? Even in the Mini Pro. This is not great quality image. Is that due to the bitrate? Can it improve?
Nice
I crashed my mini 2 few times, he is still alive!
Haii
Great review. Given the relatively significant additional features of the pro, an extra $200 seems like a no-brainer bargain!
I waited for the mini pro 3 because of the sensors. So far so good have to get to trust the return home feature.
Poor people mini3 Richer people mini3pro...
Never ever ever doit like never ever
Don’t do it
Don’t do it
