  • Mounting a car tire on a GL1800 rim. Tire is a Yokohoma Avid Assend 195/60/16. I don't mention it in the video but the cardboard on the floor is to keep from scratching the rim.

Well dang... I watch a lot of video's on this and you did this quicker and easier than I seen some guys with a tire changer. Thanks for sharing

I never would have believed it if I didn't see it... :)
You didn't mention it but did you line up the dot with the valve stem first?

One bead at a time and use rubber lube makes it a hell of a lot easier instead of fighting with two beads at once. actually, I’m surprised you got that tire on that rim fighting with both beads at the same time and without rubber lube. Napa auto parts sells rubber lube for about $16 a gallon. Rubber lube on the Internet can cost over $50 a gallon...
It also helps if you set the tire out in the hot sun fo an hour first

I think you are trying to be so quick to find fault that you were not paying much attention to the video. The cable ties just hold both of the beads in the rim valley at the same time on the back side. I do use the mallet on one side at a time when driving them on. Also the WD40 does lubricate the rubber for a shot time and the carrier then evaporates. I posted this video for people that want to mount their own car tires on a motorcycle rim occasionally and might not want to buy a gallon of rubber lube to sit on the shelf. Everybody has a can of WD40 in their shop. BTW you are right about one thing I should have mentioned that is why at the start of the video the tire is sitting out in the sun. It does help.

This was not. At the time I made this video I was running a 60 series tire and it was unavailable in RF. I now run a 55 series that is. Same procedure for both.

You would not be able to do that with a tube in the tire.
