I got the grimspeed drycon + charcoal delete. I dont really hear any difference or turbo build up noise . Im also on stock exhaust. But it feels more responsive especially on low rpm
I asked a dealer and it won’t void the warranty but when it time to smog the car down the line it might cause an issue due to emission regulations. Also in California

@@waybach an RTV issue would be addressed as RTV issue. An intake and tune wouldn't, as long as it doesn't cause the RTV shouldn't be an issue. Same as lowering your car shouldn't avoid warranty other than maybe a suspension component that is connected to it.

There's a TH-cam video where he dynos 4 different filter differences. Stock+charcoal, stock without, aftermarket with, aftermarket without. The only really gain was by removing the charcoal filter netting about 5 extra hp. The force gain was something like +0.0025 which is impossible to notice. My dealer told me I could remove it. But it's going to vary dealer to dealer.

Removing the carbon filter imo improved turbo sound for me lololol but if you do remove it I’d recommend to just drive another short break in period again but honestly should be fine either way I believe some models of the vb don’t even come with it :)
Removing a charcoal filter doesnt require a break in period...the entire point of the break in period is to mitigate possible long term damage from small imperfections in the engine from the factory. Has nothing to do with air flow.

If your looking for the better daily driver the wrx will be the better option. You’ll get better gas mileage than the v6. I also think you’ll enjoy the wrx much more than a bigger vehicle as well. Apart from that you’ll get the factory warranty on the wrx that you won’t get if you buy a 2nd hand vehicle.

I did the charcoal filter delete you can always put it back in with some hot glue...i use 93 no mods just a k&N AND IM AT 15.3PSI on boost i average 13.5 on a pull with 2 gallons of e85 to a full tank your boost will shoot up.
Your gauge is reading higher numbers because thats the pressure when its dumping, not because you're making more boost into the engine. You're still making 12psi of boost in terms of power.

The filters last for the life of the car. You don't need to replace them after cleaning them twice. That defeats the purpose of buying the filter. You clean with the K&N filter cleaning kit, which also re-oils it. Why do people keep wasting money?

If what your asking is if the airfilter requires any tuning the short answer is no. The ecu is able to compensate for any of the extra air you will be getting in. Axle backs such as any aftermarket ones or muffler/resonator deletes don’t require a tune as well.

you need to tune any modification on intake and pre-catback. Especially if you have a MAF sensor right on that housing. A Cobb Accessport should be easy tune since most intake mods only need OTS for everyday use
Any intake requires a tune. A tune does void warranty. I could always run an intake and if something does happen, I could always re install the stock intake and take it to the dealership but I’d rather do everything correct the first time.

Changing how much air you are getting means you will need to compensate the air to fuel ratio with a tune. I know some cars you can get away with it but the wrx’s ecu can’t seem to compensate for the extra air coming in. At least most previous models.
