Right , watching again now , you've just pointed out Fairfield through the cloud. This is a serious walk Glenn , and your knowledge of where things are is amazing. You're a credit to yourself !
Me and 13 year old son did our first big walk catbells, maiden moore , highspy and it was claggy like this , we still had a amazing time theres still beauty in the ugly conditions
An epic journey made without the help of a walking aid. I've never seen such inhospitable terrain in a hiking video before and I don't want to see anymore.
It makes such a difference to your experience in the fells having the deep and intimate knowledge of the Lakes that you have Glen. I am a Black Clan member and really look forward to your new content as it's published, you are a very lucky guy !!
You should have your own tv program you're videos are soo good. You have inspired me to walk the lake's which I've done for past 3 yrs and I follow you're knowledge. Thank-you for everything you are doing xx
So many times, I've been out with waterproof trousers in the bag in case the rain comes down, and when the rain comes down, I can't be bothered stopping to get them out and put them on. Each and every time experiencing the same regret later, vowing to not repeat the same mistake again. Fast forward to next time and repeat.
Oh the sound of water coming in to the boots 👢 lovely 😂😂😂😂excellent mate, terrific scenery, people come from all over the world to see this landscape, we are very very lucky in the UK to 'own this' ❤😊😊💯👌
I only drive through the Lake District due to mobility. I really appreciate all the hard work of taking us lot with you and the great work that you do.
I love it when the rocks push up into the clag and when you look down over a precipice and can see the scenery through the clag...it is so atmospheric.
Bro you've earned your watery curry (sans or avec bananage)! Great bog-slogging and atmospheric as hell. Gollum territory for sure. Bring on the next stretch.
Enjoy every minute of your hikes ... your moaning, your thirst for a pint ... your craving for food 😅 ... enjoy every bit of it ... even more so when little Finn is with you 😊
Great endurance that's for sure. Thanks for taking us again. I always had wet feet until I bit the bullet on some scarpa delta gtx and was never wet again 👍
Quite a walk Glenn , lovely video too - I'm just at the point where you had a weep before broad crag. And yes , it looks very wet ! But , it wouldn't be the lakes without rain would it.... Keep up the great work 👍
Good afternoon glen Will what a different kind of walking video wet and then sunny and then cloudy and more wet but I’ve really enjoyed it thank I’m glad I was at home on sofa with me cuppa looking forward to the next one and fingers cross it will be dry and no rain for you glen thanks again for the fab walks 😊x
4th time watching and counting, got to say, this is one of the best walks yet! You're absolutely spot on about the bog on Langdales. I remember losing patience with the boggy slog from Pike o' Stickle to High raise, testing every bit of my patience finally I managed to land myself into a deep mud upto the waist length. Despite all the swearing I absolutely loved it. You've really hit your stride here; usually, you’re a bit jumpy and manic in your Lake District walks, but this one’s just bang on. Brilliant work, and cheers for sharing it.
I've always thought the hardest videos to shoot are always the best. This video bolsters that sentiment. Outstanding! This is one of my favs of yours. From the bleepin' bleepin' bogfest to the the low hung clouds and those Herdies that mock your every step. And you were were in rare, and entertaining, form with the moanin', waffling and sloshing about. The scenery was stunning. Who needs a blue sky? You seemed on the verge of giddy when you finally crawled into your tent and busted out the curry. Charming! A magnificent "Misty Mountain Hop". Don't stop!
😆😅🤭 I did feel so sorry for him,I can put up with a lot of things but wet feet like No,the vids are great though and we do look forward to watching, that weather though😳
Yes, agree with you about camping by water. I hear various voices etc. when camping near streams etc. Glad to know I’m not the only one. Always enjoy your adventures!
I remember many Lake District adventures when the rain totally penetrated the best waterproof gear. The rain came down, the wind sent it up, sideways and all around. Happy days.
Respect, man, that was some journey. I enjoy the rain and the clag (to an extent), and can take the slippy rocks, but all that boggage would've done me 'ed in. I'd have surrendered and pitched for the night well before you did! Keep on squelchin' !!
Terrible conditions today. Reminds me of my DofE expedition in a similar area - Angle Tarn - water pouring into tent and out of door - urg!! Every now and then you got some good pictures. Thanks for putting in the effort to film the adventure.
I'm really enjoying these videos. You're a tough one, camping in the rain with wet clotges. And yes Foxes Tarn Gulley is horrible. We came down it quite a few years ago. I used the same word and complained all the way down.
Love your vlogs...I dont get chance to keep up to date with all you get up to but its never boring..I used to be one of only two Terra Nova reps in the UK so Ive spent my fair share under canvas...I live next to a river now in North Wales and hear those voices everynight as I have the window open...so glad there are still folk like you but have to say I never want to see the inside of a tent again ...everythings bloody hard work wild camping...dont miss checking for ticks on my return home! Stay cool .
As I’m watching you’ve just mentioned the gulley route to Foxes Tarn. We went up this way to bag Scafell and then returned via same route to head back up to Scafell Pike via Mickledore having bagged that highest peak earlier in the day. We were doing the English 3000s over one weekend. Great experience. 👍🏼
You did really well walking through the gorgeous landscape ethan, though it was hard going sometimes. I never want the walks to end, but you seem to be very fit.
You were off to a soggy start Glenn. My life choice would not be in the bolder field especially in the rain. On a more positive side, I admire your drive and enthusiasm. It all worked out in the end. Your Vlogs are always a good watch 👀Thank you so much.👋👌
Great effort and great video. I've camped near running water a few times but not experienced the 'voices' thing. But I think it's because I've been so knackered I've been dead to the world!
It was niice meeting you at 32:30. Sorry that we looked at you as come kind of weird creature. We love having a chat with fellow hikers, but one with a camera on a giant mount was a bit different. And we were a bit cold...
Just found your channel mate, and have started working my way through the excellent content 👌 what is the pack you are using ? Also does the Osprey chest rig work ok with a big pack ?
Well done mate, that looked like quite a yomp in those conditions then to tent in it all afterwards! Reminded me of some of my foul weather days on the Pennine Way this 'summer' just gone! :D Great content mate, looking forward to the next episode.
You need to put more calories in for these long stints! mate. Meaning more carbs! Not beef Jerky!! There's lots of lightweight energy bars you can carry easily but I've found a couple of chunky pieces of flapjack does the trick! for a quick boost! 😊
Aeropress? I'm always wondering what you do with your coffee grounds? Especially as you all say that you leave no trace... We just take coffee sachets, much lighter and no mess...
I am so happy to hear I’m not the only one who hears voices out there in the wild. Freaks me out! 🎉 Do you ever have bad hiker dreams? I was on an overnighter having a dream about meeting another hiker, though I had barely seen 4 hikers the whole day before. The next day I finished my hike, headed out after packing up the vehicle, and SAW the hiker I had dreamt about.
At around 45.40 you say "Feels like Heaven". And that is the truth. The Lake District is a magical place, whatever the weather. It is, as far as I can tell, the closest thing to Heaven that I can imagine. And I speak as someone who has not only travelled and hiked "the world" but as someone who has spent a lot of time up there (having completed the C2C and all 214 Wainwrights, etc.).
i absoulutley love the outdoors in this type weather, the mrs thinks im nuts but i just do, hip flasks are a great thing to have although i keep sherry in mine as i cant stand the taste of whiskey. 47:58 is that a voice over from Samuel L Jackson????
Theres nothing wrong with banana on ya curry Glenn .Me Dad used to be a prison officer at Parkhurst Nick and he used to work with a guy who was a Malayan Scout . He not only taught me Dad how to make a proper curry but he also told him about eating banana with a curry because it takes a lot of the heat out of the spice. So now we always have banana with our curry. As usual mate lovin the videos all the best 😎👍
He walked from Upper Eskdale, over Scafell pike and then to Esk Hause. From there he went to Angle Tarn and Stake Pass to Pike o' Stickle, before heading towards camp on Steel Fell. English Lake District of course.

Too genuinely wholesome and informative for MSM which is gripped by wokeism.

The stratification of lava and patterns of the earth are beautiful to see, and that blue lake when the clouds cleared 😍

I love the water droplets on the lens, just like walking with glasses on . Epic adventure. Roll on next week.
Most epic landscape in any weather just missing wargs and ork hordes looming through the mists.
You like to put yourself through it fella...Full credit to you ...your a fit bloke to do all this walking and climbing...I sweat watching you😊
Great endurance that's for sure. Thanks for taking us again. I always had wet feet until I bit the bullet on some scarpa delta gtx and was never wet again 👍

If Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel had watched this, they would have written a song called 'The Sound of Squelching' 😁
Fabulous video. Felt your pain trudging through Great Moss!!! I watched you whilst following the route on the OS map...Is that really sad?? 😅
Good afternoon glen

A tough trudge but still great sections on the walk
Proper Lake District walk that one! Kudos for keeping the film rolling in those tough conditions.
Nice to see taut fabric on a tent. So many now seem to flop about.
Great Moss makes me think of the Dead Marches outside Mordor. Looks like Camspout an entrance into Mordor.😮
what a trooper, that was a major slog. great work getting as far as you did. I do hope you found a B&B for the next night.

‘The wrong flippin’ lens’😀 I was hoping for a tyrannosaur Rex silhouetted in the distant mist 🤗
The sort of weather I usually find myself out in with foam inside my overtousers. 🤣
Great effort Glenn! That looked totally brutal, not only climbing englands highest mountain but then trudging through those bogs was relentless 👍

Beef jerky is one of the best discoveries ever. So tasty as a topping on salad with some mayonnaise.
Oh noooooo beef jerky, I remember my husband tried it and all I can say at least glen was sleeping alone in that tent 🤢🤭
This is so massive!! It’s ace!!! I don’t want each one to finish.
Squelch..squelch...squelch, what a wet one! still enjoyed it though and I stayed amazingly dry! 😀

Another great walk looked tough at times . Looking forward to day three .keep drinking the whisky 😊
Great episode this 🎉
What you are hearing at night is spirits
Fantastic video, thanks for taking us.
Quality video as usual. Great to see you back in the Lakes. When I tried to download route it just comes up as error 🤷♂️
Now working well 🙏 Epic Route 👌

First class vlog. Thank you 👍
Grim day in the fella! Extra kudos!
What a squelch fest but very atmospheric. Thanks for the scenery.
The voices in water is a new thing for me, never heard of that before….great video as always though👍
Stunning views❤

Get yourself some Otter socks. They keep your feet nice and dry.
The dead marshes 😱
Please try Biltong and Droewors (South African recipes) 😊
Crikey mate, takes a real man to plunge an aeropress while holding it above the cup😅 hands of iron and asbestos!
Hi Glen really interested to know why have you stopped wearing boots on walks like this ?
How many times you topped out Scafell Pike? A tough day in that weather
Aeropress? I'm always wondering what you do with your coffee grounds? Especially as you all say that you leave no trace...
We just take coffee sachets, much lighter and no mess...

Hi Glenn, think it's time to change the channel name to "Black Clag" 🤣
"I need to find water." Could you not just empty out your boots?
My biggest fear stopping me from doing a multi day hike is the toilet situ! Perhaps some suggestions on this issue would be appreciated!
youre not alone in that fetid stinking mist, the very air is a poisonous foul fog.
creatures with formless shape find your every footstep.
That looked a bog fest.
Where was this specifically?
He walked from Upper Eskdale, over Scafell pike and then to Esk Hause. From there he went to Angle Tarn and Stake Pass to Pike o' Stickle, before heading towards camp on Steel Fell. English Lake District of course.
Curry to mask the water....used to be to mask the meat 🤷🏻
