@@SewtheDistance Oh, bring 'em on! My parents went thru the Great Depression as teens and young marrieds, and they taught us through example that Thriftiness is almost next to Godliness.....so for me, cutting a corner or finding a way to ''made do with'' is 2nd nature and brings me joy.
@@SewtheDistance My parents really did know how to make it fun to save money. l actually felt sorry for my friends whose family didn't know how to have fun without spending money. l and my siblings were truly blessed.
I absolutely love this idea! I think I would start with a Halloween and Fall and a winter and Christmas! There are really so many fun combos to be made here!
You have a fabulous talent. I love your videos. I like to imagine the best way to work with what I have for fabric, and match up that project for someone on my list of who I want to make quilts for. So the equation works out to awesome ideas + stash+ loved one= something truly amazing and always unique. Thank you so much. With this video you solved a problem I was having planning a quilt. One of my sisters is a huge Alice in wonderland fan and I have been collecting Alice fabrics since Tula put out her Alice fabric, plus a piece of licensed I bought a couplenyears ago with her in mind. Anyway.. she was here and oozing at my stash, and loved a fat quarter of a dragon print and a layer cake that doesn't match any of it, and a couple more things. I wanted to find a way to incorporate all the things she liked. So Alice and stuff on one side and dragons on the other. To build enough colors to expand that fat quarter to a throw size quilt, which is the plan, I'm going to steal what I need and break up the remaining jellyroll strips by color. Then the dragon will be divided up and sprinkled around. To assemble the quilt I will do just like your instructions but make the legnth of the cotton batting to be how wide I want the quilt. Then make a few more and assemble them. Theresa down under has a video on how to join quilt as you go blocks. I'll figure out that part when I get there lol. 😊 For table runners, they look addictive, I could see these made for each season and occasion and holiday. This would also be good to make the outer shell of a bag.
This is right down my alley. I love it. I do have some random jelly roll strips lying around and this would be the perfect project for them. I love making table runners as I find them easier than quilts to make but I still get to do all the quilting stuff. Thanks for this Kris. You're a genius.
Thank you so much! I think I invented it, but I can't be positive. I tried a few different ways to do this and this one was the best. I am so happy you love it! This video has been in the works for a long time. ❤️
What a cute table runner and an easy project. You sure have been lucky with JoAnns fabric. I have not been lucky at all, but I told you that before. Good job.
Oh no! I am sorry. They currently have a lot of Jelly Rolls on clearance on their website and the shipping is $1.99 this week. I hope you find something! Thanks so much for watching! ❤️
Very cute and simple. I love the multi-use aspect. We downsized to a condo for retirement and let me tell you, storage is at a premium! So anything that can be used for more than one season or event has my vote. Thanks
You are so welcome! That's what prompted this design, actually. We downsized a few years ago, and I have the same issue! I love this project for that very reason. Glad you love it, too! 🥰
Dito to all comments already made. Thank you again for all of your creativity and sharing with us. I have never done QAYG so this might be a good project to practice.😊
Cute cute idea; I have some Halloween and non-spooky Fall that would be fun together for a table in my living room. Thanks for your excellent instructions.
Thank you for this video! I’m definitely going to try this. My brother just bought a little vacation cabin and I’ve been trying to think of an appropriate gift, something fun, but something small for a small space. I’m going to make Fourth of July on one side, and Halloween on the other. Then another for every day that’s summer and winter. Thanks for all your great videos!!
Kris, this is so cute and easy. My Granddaughter loves to decorate with table runners. I need to look through my fabrics and choose some for her. Thanks for sharing.
I like the idea of green-red Christmas on one side and blue-silver Christmas on the reverse side. I also might try traditional versus cutesy fabric. As a minimalist I love the idea of one runner covering two seasons. Thanks for the tutorial!
I should have included the batting info. Sorry about that! I just made one using a scrap of Warm & White and worked beautifully, too. Great idea using flannel!
This is exactly the tutorial I was looking for! I am relatively new to quilting but wanted to do something double sided using the technique to attach right to the batting. This seems like a reasonable advanced beginner’s project. Thank you!
Thank you so much! It is a fun, easy project! I am making one right now that is Halloween/fall with an orange binding. I do love the black, however. So many different design choices! Too much fun. 😂
I really enjoyed this tutorial. It is going to be a spring board to Christmas Gifts for friends and family. I think it'll be a great scrap buster. Did you super wet your batting when starching the batting....love the idea of stabilizing the batting. Christmas/Valentine. Winter/Spring. Summer/Fall. I also enjoy many of your lessons from an old quilt. Thanks so much
Yay! These will make great gifts! They are perfect for scrap busting. As for the batting, I didn't soak it but I made sure it was pretty wet to the touch. I hope this helps. The starched batting was a game changer, for sure. I tried it without when I was coming up with the concept and it was much harder to work with without the starch.
Kris your runner is adorable!! I love making table runners, but have never made a reversible one. Super cute and a great way to save on batting!:) Thanks for a fun tutorial!!♥️
