    Big was so rich he left Natasha a million dollars, randomly. Carrie is sitting on a gold mine and she's in her old small apartment, renting Che's apartment that probably smells like pee and self loathing, and complaining about a $26 omelette. Pffffft. And Miranda buying a USED BED. Come on. Carrie could have floated her the cash if Miranda the 30 yr corporate lawyer couldn't afford a new twin bed. 🙄

    The writers go out of their way to rewrite SATC. If Big was a mistake, then Carrie's whole life was a mistake. The original show revolved around two things: her friendship with S/C/M and her relationship with Big.

    It’s so weird that Aidan hasn’t come to her apartment, like cmon, you’re a grown man, can’t you handle your emotions and realize it’s all in the past…..
    Why the need to rent Che’s apartment if Carrie literally owns an apartment in New York….
    And of course it was so sad that she said “was Big a big mistake”, why disrespect your deceased husband, whom you very much loved and wanted to be with

      I didn’t like the fact that she inferred Big was a mistake either. After all, she chose to be with him. I also feel like this may have been the writers not so subtle jab at Chris Noth and his situation as if to Inter he was a mistake.

    • @jm7804
      @jm7804 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's human nature to think that. She was happy with Aidan, then she screwed up. Then they're back together and it's better than ever. Anyone would wonder the same thing. I know people who have literally said they wish they had never gotten married and/or had kids. Sometimes you have to come full circle in your thinking to realize the path you took brought you to a good place in your life. For instance, Aidan wouldn't have his kids if she made a different choice. I think we're going to hear a little more on the topic by the end of the season.

    I don't get why Charlotte doesn't loosen the belt, it seems to have several notches on it.
    What's really confusing is that we never saw Big and Carrie in a happy relationship, but she said they were so we have to take that as true. We've watched nearly 2 seasons of her grieving over big and now she's had an orgasm she's like 'oh that was a mistake'
    Why is everyone making life choices over orgasms? Miranda with Che and Carrie with Aidan.

    This was the very first episode in this series that I genuinely liked! Everyone seemed a lot more...human, I guess? Carrie has been having mind-blowing sex for days, and with someone with whom she shares intimacy, history and trauma. I'm not saying this is healthy, but it makes sense in that situation to go temporarily mad and question your old marriage. Seema's need to distance herself from the happy couple was also well portrayed (minus her showing up to dinner mere days after she'd asked for space). Even Miranda seemed more like a real person, and not the caricature she usually portrays! Charlotte's storyline was also the best she's been given so far. She has the tendency to change personality and losing herself in relationships. Remember in first season when she said that she was not herself with Big because he felt too perfect for her? She couldn’t speak her mind and say I want a big fat romantic wedding damn it! ( lol)
      I think right now, she’s not thinking straight. The grief was unbearable, she has literally nothing to do in her life ( no job, no passion, no projects) , dating in NY feels cold , she’s lonely and scared so Aiden is her safety blanket and she idealizes him. I don’t think it will work. Plus she’ll never move to virginia.

    I really hate the fact that they made Aiden a divorcee just so that he could be available to Carrie for the third time.
    The writers should have left him happily married with his 3 sons.
    Carrie had a toxic relationship with Big but suddenly at the end of the series, he has a change of mind and tells Carrie that she’s the one ( that’s not realistic). But ok , I tried to believe it and at least Carrie was head over heals with big.
    But I can’t be gaslighted again! Lool I do not believe that Aiden could so easily fall back into a trusting relationship with Carrie knowing that the love of her life was the man she cheated on him with. It totally invalidate Aiden and Carrie’s love. I would be pretty resentful in his shoes.
    Also, while they have great chemistry on screen, I do not believe Carrie would be so in love with Aiden.

    This episode was a letdown after the previous one. There are way too many characters with too many separate plotlines, which leaves little time for actual character development. Also, unpopular opinion: I never liked Aidan for Carrie. Aidan is possessive and always wanted Carrie to fit into his perfect little box; he was never happy with her being herself, and he wanted to marry her only so that he could claim and control her. Big, for all his flaws, at least accepted Carrie for who she was and never tried to force her into being someone or something else. I am so disappointed in the writers for the "Big mistake" line; they were married for over 20 years, and there was obviously real love there, so I do not understand why they felt the need to erase that. Big and Carrie were not perfect people by any stretch of the imagination, but what happened over the course of their marriage was never written, so it isn't fair to say their marriage wasn't happy/was abusive or that Carrie wanted Big only for his money or any of that. I'm not excusing anyone's poor behavior in the first series, but I think it is safe to say that neither Carrie, Big, nor Aidan were great people. The best I can say about Carrie and Big is that they found mutual ground and did seem to be themselves around each other, which is something Carrie and Aidan could never do. Carrie is back to changing herself completely when she is around Aidan, and I am not a fan of that. I can't imagine this pairing will last.

    • @BeYounique...Maryanne
      @BeYounique...Maryanne ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So true. Also, if you think about it, Big never left Carrie (that I can remember). Carrie always left Big. Aidan left Carrie TWICE -- once when she had the affair with Big, which is understandable, but again when she wouldn't marry him. Whereas Big was always honest with Carrie. She dumped him before he went to Paris, so he met Natasha. He probably thought it was over with Carrie, didn't realize she still cared. The whole back and forth rollercoaster wasn't the healthiest, but I guess Big was trying to work it all out. Aidan always ran when the going got tough.

    • @cannellecinnamon5504
      @cannellecinnamon5504 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Big left Carrie to live in Paris. Yes technically she called the break up but at that point , he didn’t care for her in his life. She broke up because when she said she could move to Paris for a while he told her to not fo it for him.
      Also he left her at their own wedding. Jilted her. And didn’t do anything to get her back.
      So I think both relationships had big flaws but Carrie and Big lifestyle matched. And Carrie wanted Big. So in a way they were better suited for each other and mad it work at the end.

No Carrie, you're not a wild stallion, you're a woman who got her heart broken. If you were a wild stallion you never would have had had the affair with Big. You would have galloped off into the sunset!

    It was a dull episode and somewhat stupid but not terrible.
    The Charlotte story line was dumb. A middle-aged woman feeling "verified" seeing a younger woman who is heavy is so sexist and ageist. The beauty of being middle-aged is the confidence that comes with it. And women of all sizes are beautiful. When will the ever-catty MPK and his crew of flying monkeys get this?! And do note, that women of any age WILL lose weight using bone broth or fasting or doing a juice cleanse. It's not really a struggle for those who were of a decent weight their entire life (Charlotte/Kristin Davis always looked great!). You may lose some muscle tone, but your body doesn't go to the dogs as they are portraying here. Like, look at SJP. I don't see a menopause belly on her.

    I know this is a rather silly and questionably-written series, but it inspires thoughts related to real life. One thing that immediately occurred to me when looking at excerpts from these plot developments s that they presnet a woman who has made the CHOICE to reignite contact after over a decade with a man whose heart she broke. She can see on the first night they are together that he is clearly very overcome with even the prospect of entering her home. This is unfinished business. Also, this is a man who is no longer with his partner romantically, but is co-parenting a SON ("Tater") with her. that is for life. She is interacting with someone who has become a father since they were together and to me, that changes things.
    I personally would have thought a million times before even pressing the send button and "hello" email here, And if I did and he was this upset, I would have NOT headed to a hotel that night with them and jumped into something hot and heavy. I think it would be important to abstain from that for a good long time and tried to be a true friend. And gone VERY slow! Also, from POV of show, I am bothered by the whole framing of the "lunch with the ex"... this is someone co-parenting a child with a man who she has just jumped into an affair with. Whole thing bugs me. When you are involved with a man with children, in my opinion, they are vulnerable human beings and you are an adult who needs to put away your own hormonal and fuzzy pink fantasies in terms of how you interact with their parent.

      You’re right! Aiden and Carrie should have both have waited before jumping to bed and into a relationship right away. Especially since Aiden was so traumatized by the past. That would be a nice occasion to go one more dinners, talk and get to know each other and get a better understanding of we’re they were in their respective life’s.
      Now if they only wanted great sex and no attachment then no problems, have sex and each go back to their life.
      Aiden has 3 sons. The last one is only 14. How is it appropriate for him to already know the “replacement “ for his mother??? Did Carrie and Aiden even think about the kids well being.
      I would not want to meet the kids before two conditions present : 1) I have proof that my relationship is solid which can only happen with time. ( the fact that Aiden can’t go to Carrie’s apt is proof of the relationship’s fragility).
      2) enough time has past with the divorce that the relationship between Aiden and his ex is cordial and the kids are ready to have a step mom.
      Otherwise it’s like stepping on a wasp nest. 😮

    People still believe that if you're like another person, it means they're your soulmate? A healthy partnership has nothing to do with having the same taste and same personality traits. That's just superficial. It is about core values, respect for differences, and falling in love with them. An introvert can learn from an extrovert and the other way around. And adventurous people can learn to enjoy staying home with a cup of cocoa just watching TV with their loved ones. In fact, when Big settles, Carrie doesn't like it. They were super toxic, and the things they had in common would soon fade away, leaving them with the awkward silence, thinking, "Who is this person?"

    For me what's annoying is that the writers keep telling us the characters have changed, and never let us see that growth. It's ok for the women to be flawed like they were before and for us to see their evolution.
    For example, I actually love the idea of Charlotte growing from being prudish and judgemental about sex to being someone more accepting and positive because she's learning from and talking with her daughters. It would be such a great character arch and also really sweet! But the writers need to show us that journey.

    I really don't buy the Carrie and Aiden reunion. They were so toxic for each other...
    I'm afraid it's gonna be an atempt on Aiden's side to get close to Carrie, so he can get back at her for everything.
    Like date her and then sleep with one of her friends (I'm guessing Seema). I have a very bad feeling about this reunion.
    And don't get me started on the "big mistake" thing! I hated Big for many reasons, but saying saying stuff like this about a person you have spent 25 years of your life with? Yes!!! I loved it. Great writing ( finally) and great acting from both actresses.
      Also Seema is the only character who represents the confident single woman in this show now. I mean Miranda and Carrie are single too now but they look more like they want to avoid being alone at all cost. I have no problem with them dating but they do it in such a co dependent way that it’s sometimes hard to watch.

      About Seema and Carrie’s scene, I thought: this is what it must feels like to be friends with Carrie. She’s all in with you when she’s single but as soon as she’s in a relationship, she completely forgets about her summer plan with you…
      We’ve witnessed this over and over with her character ( like when she sent Aiden to take care of Miranda’s neck, or when she canceled plans with the girls last minute because of Petrovsky or Big)…
      I would really like to see some growth from her. You know ?
      I hope Seema’s character gets more development too. She brings a new point of view and challenges Carrie in a loving and caring way❤

    Thank you for pointing out that everyone in the show is filthy rich. I am actually not ok with that. It is so far from most people's lifes and not relatable at all. The characters live a dream life with minor problems that are blown up becauae they are seemingly bored by their financial comfort. Never though that I would like Miranda's story the most after that car crash of a character development but at least she kind of challenges herself with the internship and does not only spend her days socializing in expensive restaurants thinking about how to throw out her money fur unnecessary stuff. Yes, Charlotte is back to work after not having worked since her divorce with Trey....kind of sad and only because she feels bored and needed to make a big deal out of it. And apparently she cares more about how she looks than the work itself. Pretty shallow.

    • @KasiaSopniewska
      @KasiaSopniewska  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @jennyhazel329 well, but the thing is, in SATC, everyone was rich too, and their lifestyles weren't relatable at all (or at least, to me, they weren't). What was relatable about the characters were their problems and personal struggles. And now, even that is gone.

    • @jennyhazel329
      @jennyhazel329 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KasiaSopniewska you're right about all of them being rich in the original series. But not that filthy rich imo. And at least they had jobs and worked for their money, still their lifestyles were not affordable for normal people and, as it was admitted , even unrealistic, especially for Carry and her job as a writer.
      But yes, their problems were relatable and the stories interesting, the conversations were clever and not so unbearably political correct. I have just re-watched a couple of episodes and I really miss the old SATC.

      Hahaha I agree with you. It doesn’t make any sense for Carrie to even question her relationships when she was so sure Big was the one.
      If she didn’t marry big , she would have pursued another rich sophisticated guy ( hello petrovsky) because she was so attracted to the luxurious life only those kind of men would provide. Definitely would NOT have married Aiden. She was done with him.
      I always thought Big was a mistake and never saw their relationship as other than toxic . But that’s only MY opinion, not Carrie’s. It’s like the writers wanted to please a part of the audience.
      By the way, I’m not team Aiden either. I just don’t buy the Carrie and big happiness because we never got to see it: in the series he treated her like shit, in the first movie , he jilted her ( that would put me in a mental institution) and in the second movie he’s flirting with Penelope Cruz and suggesting time apart from Carrie as a solution to their problems. ( key word being problems). Plus in ajlt he leaves 1 million $ to an ex without having the decency of providing an explanation to Carrie . ( that says a lot about their relationship).
      That being said, no need to worry, I don’t think Carrie and Aiden will last. It will end on last episode leaving a cliff hanger for a season 3!
      Let’s hope they hire new writers!

    FYI, I'm a 50 y.o. old who adored the original series/1st movie as late a 20s, early 30s woman. And I adore you too Kasia, bravo!
    Why Aidan yet again? They couldn't make it work 2 times because they always realized they're too different for each other.
    The Miranda rebound reeks of the pointless Che Diaz relationship that destroyed her relationship with Steve so its unfulfilling. And she's still stumbling along.
    Why is Che still around? We don't care about them or their financial issues. And no more children storylines, please and thank you.
    Can we move on from Nya too? It was never convincing that Nya would be friends with Miranda. And it was inappropriate for her to be friends with a student, initially.
    Seema and LTW are growing on me but no more LTW family stuff but we love her fashionista moments since Carrie is wrapping herself in quilts with pigeon purses. Seema needs to be less Samantha replacement because no one can be, but still fab.
    And I'm with you re more Anthony and the City storylines and less accessory to the women.
    Bring on Samantha styled by Pat Field! ✨✨✨She'll be the moment in the series, we deserve it!
