With Aidan, I was like ugh, not again.
But I like how they wrote them maturely in the show. I also liked how Carrie changed so far with him. She listens to him about his fears and does not judge him. She also takes it slow with him. She does not push anything with him.
I also love that she is excited to be with him and their kitchen gadget store date was adorable and shows that couples can have fun in these little moments.
I hope they stay on this route. I don’t want them to be ruined again.

S2E8 was honestly the first time AJLT felt and sounded like the old SATC for several reasons for me personally:
    1) Seema and Carrie were able to have that difficult but realistic and honest talk about Seema not wanting to be a third wheel to Carrie and Aidan in the Hamptons.
    2) Carrie admitting that Big may have been a mistake shows that all the online commentary from therapists and psychologists about Big being a classic textbook narcissist have finally reached the ears of the show writers.
    3) Aidan was always the emotionally healthy guy and finally Carrie sees it and gets it.
    4) Miranda is getting closer to her old, rational professional self with razor-sharp intelligence
    5) The song which they used to close out the episode has the exact same vibes and energy as the music from the old series.

Carries luxurious lifestyle that she has been able to maintain into her mid 50's is largely due to big and everything she inherited after his death. When she was writing her column she was not earning a lot of money- modest earnings by standards today and then. Her apartment was rent controlled which is how she had money to buy shoes and party. She got money from book sales but nothing in comparison to big's wealth. And buy her own addmittance in IJLT season 1 - publishing has largely died which is why she no longer needed Samantha as her publicist. Carrie has always been a very materialistic character - high lifestyle and material things are very important to her. Those things play into her infatuation with Big. To say he was a 'big mistake' just seems wrong - when the caliber of her lifestyle since their marraige/ and basically for the rest of her life was due to her relationship with big. Money isnt everything to everyone - but it is very important to Carrie. He gave her the material high life she had always wanted.

After years of abuse by Miranda, he finally stood up to her. I loved how he brought up that there are more things that make up a house than paying the mortgage. He literally made that house. He rebuilt it. He stayed at home with Marta and the kids. Considering Miranda broke up their marriage and was a hypocrite about the cheating, he has every right to stay in the house. Miranda needs to find her own place.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one.
If you look back at the original show and one of the movies, Steve was pretty terrible to Miranda, I mean the guy got angry when she offer to buy a suit for him. He also felt threatened by her job because she made more money than him. Let's also not forget that he cheated on Miranda and everyone around her convinced her to give him another chance when she wanted to divorce Steve. Even when he apologized for cheating, he chose to cheat on her instead of talking to her about the problems in their marriage, he only sucked therapy when he realized that Miranda was about to leave him.

For the suit, I am in the middle. I hate people trying to buy stuff for me because I feel guilty about the price. I am in a part time position and I never like feeling I owe people when I may not afford it. It stinks that I am financially dependent on my parents and it is hard paying them back for things because of that so I can see where Steve is coming from on that one. Also, he did not even want the suit in the first place and Miranda was tryin to make him more presentable for her crowd. I see your point on this too.

So if Che didn’t care about the opinions of the world why did she have a whole breakdown over the commentary made about her show by the test audience!? 😂 The show really just gave us a woke parody of SATC and a character who was not only a blatant narcissist but seemed like they needed a safe space when confronted with the truth that they are unbearable and unlikeable !

I don't understand how people are upset with Carrie questioning her choice to stay with Big. It makes sense to look back on relationships that we once saw through rose-colored glasses in a different light. Especially after some time of separation. Carrie was use to toxicity and the push/pull of her's and Big's relationship. Now that's she dealt with grief, loss, and trying to carve out her own life being newly single and older, she's more than likely have had time to reflect on her own behaviors. Her forming this new relationship with Aiden without Big gives her space and time to reconsider that maybe what she wanted with Big was indicative of who she was at that time. Carrie was a mess then. Now she seems much more established, assured, and grounded. She is now realizing that she may in fact want a relationship that isn't complicated, messy, and just honest.

But that’s no reason to throw the whole thing away. Also, why is Aidan acting like a broken, self absorbed boy? What I liked most about him, was that he was real, and a healthy man. Love Carrie. Love Aidan. But Carrie does not deserve Aidan. Aidan is an idiot for taking her back.
Carrie was in a toxic relationship with Big. The only reason they had a happy marriage in AJLT Season One was because writers wrote it that way.
Ninty-nine percent of the time, that doesn't happen IRL.
But for writers to have Carrie say her relationship with Big may have been a mistake? Wasn't growth. It was a huge mistake. Because they had a happy marriage. Why would she say that now? Maybe that would have made sense at the end of Season 6, or the movie when Big jilted her at the altar. But not as a grieving widow who was happily married. It doesn't make sense? It also changes everything. It changes everything if we rewatch SATC knowing now she may think it was all a mistake. Although, it would have been different if Carrie came to that realization after Big jilted her at the wedding. Then that would have been growth. And you could look back feeling good that she finally got it. But now? Carrie doesn't have to think it was a mistake in order to get back with Aidan. Someone said, maybe she needed to tell herself to move forward? Unless they address later, it doesn't feel right.

This show is so horrendously awful!
The writing is nonsensical. The three main characters are complete departures from their S&TC personas
“Carrie” is just boring and dialing it in.
The “Aiden” storyline makes no sense. Carrie disrespected that man so badly. Why on earth would he ever want to be with her?
S&TC “Miranda” would absolutely hate this version of Miranda, who is weak.
“Charlotte” is now a dopey and silly Karen.
    Seriously, WTF?
And don’t get me started on how pandering it is to have those other characters in the show.
Is the audience supposed to believe that after 25+ years of having no BIPOC friends (and no, that one Samantha hooked up with and Miranda’s implausible relationship with Dr. Robert do NOT count) all of a sudden all of Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte’s friends are BIPOC? 🙄
It’s done in a way that is so forced and inauthentic!
If this show gets picked up for a third season, here are some changes that need to be made:
Get rid of Che!!! No one likes them or they. Che can have a heart attack like Big. Or a car crash. Anything will work for the audience
Nya can go too! We don’t care about Miranda’s 60 year old professor getting her groove back. BORING!
I suppose Lisa can stay. But why is a 55 year old women pregnant? That makes no sense. It’s just a desperate attempt to make these characters seem younger
Harry should divorce Charlotte. At this point, he can do better.
Get rid of Charlotte’s annoying and entitled kids.
Since Lily should be 19 and not 17, send her to college!
    Send Rock to boarding school.
Brady should be 21 or 22 (born onscreen in 2001 or 2002….yeah, viewers can do math). Since he’s a slacker and probably won’t go to college, send him to the military.
Take a tip from the soap operas. You know the children exist but we never see them!
Simma or whatever is unnecessary. She is NO Samantha
Anthony is the only interesting character at this point
Stop trying to make us think these characters are way younger than they are. It’s insulting to the viewers!
Remember The Golden Girls? You could learn a thing or two from that series.

No, I'm sorry the show is LAME.
Making Carrie say "Was Big a mistake" is like saying to the viewers you've been watching this show for over 25 years for nothing.
Come on, of course Aidan's great but he is way too good for Carrie. And like Aidan could ever get divorced, he has always dreamed of being of family guy. That doesn't make sense to me.
Plus, the friendship scenes are now so boring, there's no more magic in their get-togethers. Miranda is no longer Miranda, she is sooo weak and cringe.
The new characters are boring as fuck.
And what about the fashion, Carrie has always had a very personal style, sometimes you love it sometimes you don't, but now it's always so dull.
No, I really hope this will get cancelled. That's the best thing that could ever happen. They already have ruined the whole legacy of the show.
Marc Cherry is at least smart enough not to revive Desperate Housewives saying he has no more stories to tell. SATC/AJLT should have acted likewhise.

Of course you are. Carrie is a drama queen, and think about it...if they couldn't make it work two times before, how in hell is the third time the charm?

Exactly. What has changed for Carrie to finally see him worthy of her ? ( beside Big’s death).
They didn’t even have a conversation or anything, she just pressed “send” to her email and before she even saw him she was ready to be serious with him.
      Rebound.
That and the fact that she is terrified of being alone.

I actually love all of it. Charlotte losing her identity to motherhood is totally relatable. Carrie being old and kind of boring makes sense after settling down and being married for several years. Miranda being a mess is nothing new. I think its normal to want some of the hype of sex in the city but the characters had to get a bit mature for it to be realistic. Do we really want to see 50 somethings having sex nonstop or see them deal with real problems like death or their teenager wanting to be non binary?

Carrie hated Aiden, she wanted a Man like Big. Aiden was too poor and he kissed Carrie's ass at every turn. She would have cheated on Adien so many times over the years, he was NEVER enough for her. Big is EXACTLY what she wanted and what turned her on. She was so in crazy love with Big. Soul touching love

I've been highly critical of this series, but I do agree, the characters are starting to hit their stride finally. It's still not great, but it's not cringeworthy awful like all the previous episodes have been. I still have an issue with Charlotte though. I feel like she's taken her character to this weird cartoonish/Lucille Ball type place with the odd pauses and exaggerated high-pitched, wide-eyed exclamations. I can't take this version of Charlotte seriously when I think of how she was in the series. Maybe she needs to dial it down a little?
