A Christmas dream indeed! I wanted one so badly, but my trusty 1969 Honda Z50 was all i had then. Just restored a 1969 Z50. What great memories. Thanks for sharing. -Kirb
It was an upgrade from a Z50, which was my first bike. Progressed to a Honda CL125 in 1974, it had a 100 badge so I could ride "legally" at 15.@@cramersclassics
@@cramersclassicsSince I'm a new subscriber, I'm keen to check out your Z50, probably similar to the Honda Monkey I SO badly wanted back then. I had to wait until I was handed down a Honda SS50V from my older brother when turning 16, back in '77 😅
Hey my dad just bought a nice all original one of those! I’m sure he will go through it and make sure everything is solid. Very nice looking little bike! Thanks for the video
Had the 71 MX in yellow and black, my first bike and rode it like a stole it, great bike couldn't kill it. to this day my favorite paint scheme is yellow and black., Great memories..
Great Job! Wish you lived next door)) Been working one for some time now. Order the electronic ignition from Treatland, but cant see to get it the timing right. Going to put stock one now, and get a new coil. All the stuff for the clutch mechanism under the cover is missing. Any diagrams?
The tank is painted yellow in the stripe area first. The the stripe is masked off with a pinstripe tape. The whole tank is then painted tangerine orange. The tape is pulled exposing the yellow stripe. The the whole tank is then 2-part (fuel proof) clear coated, color sanded and buffed. You could use yellow tape and clear coat over that as another option.

@@cramersclassics Hi Can I ask another question(s). The Decal on my bike "Mini Enduro" is missing probably wore off. Is that something you require to get made up or can buy? Also, the gas tank was resprayed several years ago and had a white trim around it. Is that something that is a decal or requires respray/repaint? And my next question. My Seat used to have the "Yamaha" Logo on the rear but that was reupholstered several years ago also. Is the material with the logo something you can buy or do I need to buy a new saddle with the logo. Where can one get it. Our bike never had an Odemeter and I am unsure if it ever came with it? I was aged 9 or 10 when our Dad brought it home in 1976 from a trade in auto exchange. So for me it is very personal to preserve the memory and try and restore it as best I can. Seems to depend on the weight of the rider. They are all pretty close.
