    I just pulled the injectors from a 2015. I was worried about the umbrellas and didn't understand what happened to the old ones. Thankfully you mentioned that they weren't there to start with!

    I found video very helpful. I did however notice they may still be a tad bit loose. I took a heathyn and very lightly waved it over them. Tightened them up more to my satisfaction. Thanks again

    I merely used an old ink pen to install a teflon/nylon seal. A "new" set of 3rd party Amazon injectors arrived with a split seal on the double seal part but I already had 'em in the rails before I noticed, and since the seller seemed to take their time to respond (and then only to ask for pics) I twisted the steel body off an old injector and reused the old seal. I placed the seal in a glass of hot water and proceeded to stretch it over the tapered ink pen cap. It got thinner as it enlarged. I had to enlarge it several times to slide over the first seal that was in place but the ink pen body was the tool that made that possible. Then I rolled the seal between my fingers to shrink it enough to fit inside that tapered ink pen cap, which then shrunk and fattened the seal to match the others. So far the seal is holding up.

    Thanks. I was told it required special tools... but I guess those must be pretty cheap. Good to know. I'm about to do my injectors. Seems like it's really a "not a maintenance" maintenance item. 🙄. What usually fails? Do the seals blow out or do the injectors actually fail internally? What's more common?

    • @TheSundaeDrive
      @TheSundaeDrive  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think the seals fail super often. Normally it would be an injector failure.

      @TheSundaeDrive any experience with good vs cheap (amazon) injectors?

    Opinions please! I saw this video series 3 years ago when you released it. Now I am rewatching it again because I'm planning on replacing all 8 injectors soon in my truck. 2017 silverado 113,500 miles. I have one injector that is leaking very slowly at top of engine and I also believe it is causing some occasional bogging of the engine so I'm going to replace all 8. The dealer wants $137 a peice for the injectors. Is it worth it or should I get aftermarket ones??

    Did you lubricate the teflon seals on bottom of injectors when you installed back in head

    @ The Sundae Drive, I'm wondering, will any deformation of the seal cause a vacuum issue of any sort?

    if I’m replacing the injectors on a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix GT
    all i gotta do is remove the old injectors, and use new injectors?
    all i gotta put on the new injectors in upper and lower rings
    or do new injectors already have the upper and lower rings on them
    and why is the lower ring a different size than the upper ring?
    i believe that it’s the lower ring that seems “way too loose” on the injector
    and i don’t understand why

    Does the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT, year 2011, V8 5.3 liter Vortec engine have direct or indirect injection? Please help me

    those "umbrellas" are to help keep the dirt out which in turn helps keep them from getting stuck

    I notice when you removed the fuel rail, the fuel injectors stayed on the block/head. How did you remove them? What do I have to do to get them out.

    • @TheSundaeDrive
      @TheSundaeDrive  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It requires a special tool I didn't have. They were extremely corroded into place so I just sent them in with the head core charge 😅 they already had 110K so I figured better to go with new ones. On a lower mileage vehicle they pull out pretty easily with the fuel rail

      @@TheSundaeDrive lol alright. Cuz I'm trying to figure a way out how to remove it. It's injector #7 n man r they a pain to remove. That's the only one I need but couldn't figure out how to remove it

    • @TheSundaeDrive
      @TheSundaeDrive  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could always take the head do a local dealer or performance shop and have them remove it. Definitely replace all the gaskets.

    @ The Sundae Drive. Ive got another question. Also when you removed the fuel injectors that stayed in the head/block. Was there anything to removed the dirt/debris that stays there. Like a pick or special tool

    • @TheSundaeDrive
      @TheSundaeDrive  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just used a vacuum and small pick to clean it as best I could. Because I was swapping the heads tho, I didn't pull the injectors out of this head because I could not get them out. A special tool is required that I didn't have.

    • @TheSundaeDrive
      @TheSundaeDrive  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are swapping heads, I would pull the heads and then just take them to your local dealer and have them pull the injectors if yours were as stuck as mine. On newer low mileage vehicles they will pull out easily with the rail.

    How come you didn’t just plug in a Range Technology dongle to turn off the V4 mode?? Also, why didn’t you install a billet torque converter when you had the engine out? Direct Injection causes a ton of carbon build up on the valve seats. I hope you use a catch can now too.

    • @TheSundaeDrive
      @TheSundaeDrive  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've been running a catch can since 50K miles :) we have installation guide on it up in the channel for it. I talked to circle D and because I wanted to stay close to stock stall for towing, they recommend the 6l90 torque converter. If the trans makes it to 200K I plan to swap the tc again and will look into stronger aftermarket options. Range devices do not prevent the failure. Many documented cases of afm lifters still failing with a plug in tuner.

    @The Sundae Drive: if the lower gasket are a one use only why not just cut them with a exacto knife to reduce doing damage to the injector with a pick.....

    • @TheSundaeDrive
      @TheSundaeDrive  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the risk is similar. If you slide with the knife you could also score the injector. Personally I felt that the pick tool was the safer option. both will work tho but either way, you need to be careful.
