This cold start issue will most likely effect most of these LT 5.3 liter trucks. It doesnt hurt to be prepaired. A little tip before having to perform the repair is to try some BG 44K Fuel System Cleaner amzn.to/3n7dJ75 I've heard this actually works!

Great video, however my fuel rails were seized to the engine and a puller wouldn't budge them. I wound up using multiple pry bars and bent both rails to get them out. Waiting on those parts now, hopefully this fix my problems
..it really helps bro ,, i had a hard time to knw how remove the fuel rail without damage , save my life & save my soso injector lol
25 years as a repair tech dealing with GM injector issues. Go to a reputable repair shop that has a Motorvac injector cleaning machine or equivalent and have them perform an injector service. Throttle response will improve greatly and no more cold start issues. Also recommend following it up with a combustion chamber service and new plugs if you're a weekend DIYer! $100-150 for the injector service and save money doing the rest for yourself. Good time to check your air cleaner and change your oil as well !!!
What is the combustion chamber service, sir? Also, does the Motorvac service the injectors while they are in the vehicle? Last, you said Motorvac or similar equipment. What would that be so I know I am asking for the correct service/solution. Thank you.
@@alwaysbrothersinc Motorvac is a cleaning device that has it's own internal electric fuel pump and holding "tank". Chemicals are added to the motorvac's tank and lines are hooked up to the vehicle fuel line(s). A measured amount of fuel from the vehicle is diverted to mix with the chemicals in the motorvac tank. The lines from the vehicle fuel tank are disconnected and the motorvac machine is hooked directly to the fuel rail. The engine is started using the motorvac machine as a remote pump. The chemical/fuel mix runs the vehicle for 30-40 mins cleaning the injectors internally and restoring proper spray patterns. Combustion chamber service is basically a throttle body cleaning. Using a throttle body or combustion chamber cleaner to spray into the throttle body/intake manifold while the vehicle is running. This would be performed before or after the motorvac service is completed. After this was performed the vehicle has been running perfectly and the cost was around $200. You would have to call around to tune-up shops to see if they offer a complete fuel system service using motorvac or similar equipment. Hope this helps. Happy New Year!

I had the same problem about a week ago. All i did was waited till the fuel tank was empty to fill it up half ways with high octane gas(93 octane) with fuel injectors cleaner and ran the truck for 2 or 3 days. It cleaned the injectors and un clogged them. The p050d code means it has a clogged injector and it needs to be cleaned. So i fill the tank half ways with 93 octane and chevron fuel injector cleaner and ran it for 2-3 days and solved my problem. I didnt have to clear no code the truck did it itself. This saved me about $2000 in cost(thats how much chevy was charging me) because warranty dont cover this. FYI if you change the injectors make sure to use all new material and clips, dont reuse old parts witch can cause leaks and create bigger problems. This happeded to me on October 28 2020 and on October 31 the code was cleared and the truck is back to normal. Hope this helps guys, just sharing info. But if the injector is real clogged then youll probably need to change them if you dont take care of the problem quick.. my 2016 chevy truck ruck has a little over 62,000 miles. Hope this helps 🙏

Is this for all injectors? Multiple scanners have posted for cylinder 6 only. Not sure if it's just that injector. Thanks for any update
Just had the P050D code. doing what you said, half tank 91 octane and chevron Techron stuff. No 93 available here.
Good point. Chevron Techron is a miracle in a bottle and has saved many an individual from having to replace injectors. Not always, but with a significant enough success rate to make it worth a mandatory step one.
Doing mine now. All 8 plus the crossover tubes and gasket, 2800.00 cdn at the dealer.

2014 5.3 , fresh cam and lifters. Engine was smoking and knocking. Now engines buttery smooth up top but misses on 6 under load. 180 psi on 6. New plug and coil. Looks like i will need a set of injectors now.

All 8 what a hack. Good scanner and you can find out what cylinder is misfiring. Chevy usually only have p0300 for a single misfire
Are the amazon injectors GM you posted in the link? The box in video indicated GM . I need to make sure, I’m not to confident using aftermarket
The oem are not on amazon. They are expensive if you find them online. Head to your nearest dealership .
Good video but it would help if you're more complete i.e. how to use low pressure line tool. Is a new gasket needed on intake? Job is Definitely not worth 3K which is what the dealership wants. Whaaat?
I took my truck 2017 GMC Sierra and they said it was injector 5 and 7 by doin a pressure test.
Dealership chatge $3,036 quoted 9-14-2022. Local shop $800. My 2017 1500 with 38,000 mi needs injectors? My 2004 1500 running great with 156,000 and never have had to replace injectors. Same gas used in both.
Your 2017 is direct injected. Very different than the older trucks.
say i have access to a good scan tool. how can i use it to figure out which injector is bad. it just feels like a waste of money to replace all.

I have same codes but misfire on cylinder 7on my 2015 silverado also shakes a lot when on idle with white smoke from muffler and stinks not like gas just like something burning up.

@Baudri did you ever figure out what was going on with your truck. My 2015 Sierra threw codes P050D, P219A, P307 and I’m trying to figure out what’s going on. And they are intermittent at times

Labor rate is anywhere between 110 to 190 an hour, it depends on what shop, dealership. Its a 4 hours job. Injectors are around 75 to 65 per.

Step one, dont buy a p.o.s. Chevrolet anything...tundra my next truck..all manufacturers use shit globally sourced parts(*cheapest supplier wins).profits over quality

Wow!!! And already changing out the injectors....
This is caused by using cheap gas and usually waiting for the tank to be on empty to fill it up. Gas now a days is so poor, it goes bad in 6 months. It's best to use fuel injector cleaner evey 2 month to clean out any buildup the bad gas creates. And its good to every now a then to fill up the tank with rich octane gas and give the pedal to clean up the motor.
