    CRASH BAR WARNIIG….I’ve got the same bike with same SW Motech crash bars. I had a low speed tip over and sheared the upper bolt that ties the crash bar into the engine/frame mount. Bike has been in the shop for multiple days and they are having extreme difficulty extracting that sheared bolt (>5 hours labor with multiple broken extractors). Shop says engine will probably have to be removed to get the bolt out. I chose SW Motech because at the time it was the only system where sheared bolts hadn’t been reported… Just putting this out there for anyone thinking about purchasing crash bars for this bike.

      So Bruce, what other options for crash bars are out there. The Triumph ones have many reports of not doing a good job. Here you mentioned your issue with the crash bars from SW Motech. What about the ones from Outback Motortek?

      Hmmm. I went with the Outback Motortek, for the same reason...haven't heard of sheared bolt issues, but was told it can still happen with them too.@@saleyoun

    Great info! I had NOT realized the chain guard is plastic, nor did I think about that mud guard of the shock either. I like the motech guards but also wish they went higher like you mentioned. Not sure which way I"ll go yet. I'm a big Mosko Moto guy and love their gear so will be doing with their soft panniers etc, like you did on your tank bag. Interesting GPS mount too...hmmm. I'll def be riding off road and...prob only 60-40 which prob means 75-25 however, I live in San Diego and I go to Baja a LOT..and lot's of trails around here so i do think I'll perhaps get to 50-50 as I also have a cruiser. I plan on motocamping and also want to bring my hike n fly paragliding gear on board too. Haven't even orderd the bike yet LOL but will be this year and want to have all my ducks in a row when I do. Great videos man. I've watched a thousand and only came across the guards you mentioned today from YOU. Thanks!

    • @Idagonia
      @Idagonia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I'm glad I could help! I love the Mosko Moto tank bag. Definitely go with soft panniers if you ride off-road. I've seen many a broken ankle from hard panniers. Plus it gives you flexible room for your paragliding gear.

    Agree..well thought out upgrades.. like what you did especially the GPS bracket. Few things I did extra.. Added heat deflecters on both sides which minimises heat flow on my legs. I'm also fitting a new rear shock from Touratech as I find the standard one rather limited on settings . Fully agree on the Dunlop tyres..I ride 50 50 and must admit they really impressed me and not too noisy ..all in all..its a great bike

    Another great video. Am just close to 1000kms on mine but all coffee shop to coffee shop as you say while I wait for my crash bars to arrive. I ordered the Hepco crash bars and wish I knew before hand about the shearing issue on some bars. Will just wait and see but I do like the look of Hepco bars better. Agree it does not make sense to change the exhaust. Can’t wait to see u off roading.

    Very good review.
    I had to have a dedicated GPS. So I bought a Hex ezCan (from A bike thing in the UK) and ran my Zumo XT2 through to it. I removed the phone charger mount under the pillion seat and set it up there. It offers the addition of 4 extra circuits. I have a set of Denali D4’s driving lights, and a B6 break light connected to it as well. Completely customizable. Easy set up. And it allows me to keep all other stock power outlets available on my 1200 Rally Pro. Worth it,
    Cheers.

      How do you like the D4s? I have the Tiger 900 RP and...not sure I like the square D4s..and might go with the D3s (and the B6). I think I"m going with A Bike Thing also...is it cheaper that way...or..like me, just cause you like the guy a lot! lol. I think I can get one of his bundles...

      I went through this, and as much as I love the DesertX, it's a more difficult choice if you want to ride it off-road and on long trips. Unavailable shop manuals, an impossible-to-service air filter, and a 180 Nm rear axle nut torque spec are not what I want on a month-long journey. For me, it was the Tiger or the 890.

    I just picked up a 2024 900 RP and just saw this informative video. One question, I see how you mounted the tank bag. Does the top strap interfere with the steering where you have it placed? I tried it there and the handlebars press against the strap. I’m having trouble finding a suitable place to put the top strap because everything is so tight.

    Do u know what I figured out? I think the way Triumph think about who's buying this bike is in which those road tyres will be used to adapt to the bike and them the time will come to change them, and replace them for off road, so would be next level. However, seems to me, the company don't give the off road tyres because it could make the motorbike price go up...

    • @Idagonia
      @Idagonia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you are probably right. Cost is a bit more. Plus, road tires do add a bit of safety if one is only riding on the road.

    Could you comment on the engine heat? I recently test rode a Tiger 900 Rally Pro and the engine heat was definitely noticeable, especially on my left leg and thigh. I'm 6' 3" and I've read that taller riders are having more of an issue with the engine heat on this model. Thanks!

    • @Idagonia
      @Idagonia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, for sure! The engine heat is definitely noticeable. However, at speeds of 45 mph or higher, one can't feel it at all. If you are in traffic it can get a bit toasty. The heat is nothing compared to sport bikes though.

    Ok I got my RP Now. I have some questions. 1. What boots you suggest. I have a buddy who had the Sidi Adventures...and is black and blue heel to knee after a rugged 4 day off road trip and said he's getting far more protective boots, stiffer etc...and more coverage so I was surprised by that. 2. Did you just use the 3M tape on the shock guard or did you drill small hole and use their "plugs". 3. Kickstand extender plate ? 4. No fenda extenda or rear tire huggers etc? off road prob too much much etc for those things right? I added grip puppies, Outback Motortek bashplate, lower guards and side racks, Hepco and Becker hand guards, a clear headlight guard as dealer said to get that as rocks eventually get in the metal ones. I went with Givi top plate and 46L Dolomiti top box very happy with. and Voight riser (30mm higher/20mm back) Quadlock all weather charger on anti vibration thing and adding a Thunderbox PDU to have everything turn on AFTER the engine is one. Figuring out a mount for it currently. If you ever come to SW US or San Diego, look me up for a ride down into Baja and some paragliding if you want too. I do tandems for celebs mostly lol. Thanks in advance !

    • @Idagonia
      @Idagonia  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey K EE, congrats on the Rally Pro!
      1) Boots I find to be a very personal choice. Especially, based on the type of riding one does. I use the Alpinestars Belize Drystar Boots. I like them, but they are a little stiff when off the bike.
      2) I used the 3M tape.
      3) I've considered it... just haven't found a need for it yet. Any soft stuff I can find a rock easy enough.
      4) Exactly, it would probably get damaged easily off-road. Not worth the cost IMO.
      Seems like a great build so far! I will definitely take you up on your offer if I am in the area. Ride safe!

Another Pyramid product I installed was that wind deflector down around the key. I don’t notice any difference so I think you folks out there can take a pass on that.
