Playing catch up m8. Fair play to you and I genuinely take my hat off to you for having the patience to do all that as well as the enthusiasm 👍 Top job 👌
Great video and very nicely explained on which wires are required / what each one is doing. You work is very inspiring... keep the great work going. I'm sure this series is going to be a great hit for people doing this type of conversion. 👏
I got a program called elsawin on ebay for about a tenner and gives you every VAG wiring diagram ever. Looks like they dont do any on ebay anymore but give it a google and theres some on there. It's so handy
🙌🙌 Ron 🙌🙌 Another generously concise video mate, thank you so much for this one, I'll be watching it several times again trust me 😂 Catch you next week 😉👍
@@SuperRon mate, I just want to thank you for taking the time to upload your videos, I'm late to the 20vt swap game, I was always a MK1/MK2 Golf with Kr16v/9a16v swap kinda guy, but by the time the MK4 platform came out I'd jumped to E30's with 325i/328i conversions, NA is so much simpler and RWD obviously 😂 But I've come back home since lockdown, I'm now 80% through a MK2 Scirocco 20vt full rebuild, the engine loom is completed and it runs, but the dash loom hasn't been touched yet so I appreciate anything I can learn from you! So I don't think I'm alone in saying we'd watch 45min+ videos if that's what it takes to get across what's needed
Quality video, I'm enjoying this series and following the conversion along. It's great to know how the engine conversions work and what's involved. Keep the content coming 💪👌
@@SuperRon more detailed than better I am going to use your swirl pot location in previous video in white MK2 in my swap very inspiring poles keep them coming long
@SuperRon , I know from my friends that upload to TH-cam about how much time goes into editing and replying to comments so thanks for taking the time to put your skills online, especially for the likes of me, I'm from before turbo charging (unless you count that one Uno turbo disinterested into a roundabout in 1991 😬) but by the times the 20vt was launched into the VAG fleet I'd moved to the dark side (BMW) because, apart from the VR6 and the 20vt the "MK4" platform was basically boring and it handled nothing like it's predecessor (power to weight) without expensive upgrades... But, during lockdown I saw the error of my ways and started a MK1 platform 20vt conversion, and some 3.5yrs later it's JUST going back together 😂 So for people like me who are playing catch up in their own workshops your videos are invaluable, so like @@filiprolek7509says, we are happy to watch 45min plus videos if that's what it takes to show what's needed Thanks again, catch you next week 😉👍
Awsome work mate. My setup is very similar for my R32 build. My second fuse box is right where yours is. My ECU sits above the main fuse board and is held in place with a plastic ECU mounting bracket from a 6R polo. Loving this series Ron 👌
Yes wiring in a r32 is pretty much the same as wiring in a 20vt, I didnt know about a polo ecu holder, might have to look that up. Thanks for watching 😁
Great video. My wife worked for durite for many years, and only round the corner from me, she still has friends there. I'll see what if they can do you any promo bits or discounts 😊
That could be super handy, I always use their stuff, I didn't realise they were actually local! I did email them for the sticker wall but never heard anything back 👍
You can buy pretty much anything for conversions in the vw world, every engine, every platform, it's so well catered for. The Vauxhall world stopped at xe nova mounts in the 90s 😒
Yes I have found it there now, strange they're different to the hatchbacks! It's the one i called a possible diesel heater with the double plug. Thanks for watching 😁
do not put your ecu under the heater core or anywhere near the trans tunnel, i had multiple problems with my ecu getting too hot in those areas and causing all sorts of electrical problems till the ecu itself cooled down.
I've bought one of the DBW brackets for my build and am going to weld it in like you have done. Did you fit rivnuts to the bracket to make fitting the pedal afterwards easier or did you just struggle with the nuts and bolts? Seems like it'll be a c**t to fit one the bracket is welded in.
I did think about riv nuts but I ended up just struggling with nuts and bolts as I was already laying in the footwell. Hopefully it's the kind of thing you'd only have to fit once.
@joelb2660 I dont think so, its something on the TT car loom as it exits through the 14a plug, we've got a BAM TT in next week, I might have to follow the wires 🤣
i am gonna swap 1.8t in a old bug beetle 1300 do i need a fuse box ? or can i stick with just the beetle fuse box , i am not gonna change the body harness keep the original beetle just want to know if i can start the 1.8t i have the engine harness the ecu and will delete the imobilizer
The 1.8t loom does need 'converting' to run it's own standalone mini fusebox. You can keep your beetle fusebox to run the rest of the car, then the new 1.8t fuse box just needs an ignition live, battery live and earth.
@@SuperRon thank you for the answer , i have the audi tt fuse box can i use it or i just buy another fuse box for the engine ? can i contact somewhere elae where i can send you pictures of what i am actually doing to avoid mistakes 🙏
Just found your channel, must be great to have the knowledge to dissect a loom readily knowing what stuff you can bin from it
Thanks for watching 😁
Fair play you have made an absolutely lovely job of that, top workmanship something to be proud of.
Thanks 😁 can't wait to get onto the fancy wiring 😎

Love this series! Keep up the great work.🤘I'm currently restoring an 81 VW pickup, so this is great stuff to learn and think about.

Class 😎 can’t wait for the next one. In the process of doing the wiring on my Mk1 cabby so this will be useful 👍🏻
Awesome! Thanks for watching 😁
Can I ask, where did you get the fuse box and the box of connectors from. Cheers
They are all made by Durite, we have a Durite dealer we get them from but they are sold online at various places and on ebay too 👍
Thanks for the reply. Ok, I will have a look 👍🏻 when’s the next episode? 😎

What fixings did weld in to the inner arches for the loom? That's my next job and it'll be my first attempt at welding 😬
They are just normal bolts, thanks for watching 😁
Great build so far. Have a caddy as well and could only dream of sending it to you for a build. How much does a build like this cost ?

Bonnet gas struts maybe? Get rid of the bonnet prop stick

Pin 116 is for the Evap valve. So yea don’t need that. 👍🏻
I'm pretty sure evap purge valve is accounted for on the other loom by the lambdas 🤔

Where are you based? There are a couple of companies in the UK that will convert your loom if you send it to them, then it will just be plug and play
