@Level_reDesign once this remake is complete you should beg or someone how get in contact with Disney Interctive Video game division to get this published for consoles this would be awsome for everyone to revisit and enjoy ❤ it be a dream come true for many many people
This game was a big part of my childhood. Kinda random, but the music from that rain level always played in my head during dark rainy days and gave me nostalgic feelings.
WHAT!!!! HOW HAVE I NOT SEEN THIS TILL NOW!!! me and my mom used to play this all the time when I was little, You better believe I'm supporting this. This is amazing keep up the good work man ❤️
Forever impressed by how amazingly well you're pulling this off. It all looks and feels so nostalgic. Super keen to just walk through the house and enjoy the environment.
This is great, this was always one of my favorite games growing up. You should give some fan service and add a new hidden level to unlock if you collect all to pizza planet tokens. You only get a special picture on screen in the original when this is done. That would add to this as well as let you and your team stretch your own creative muscles for a level that you envision after learning everything you did with this project
I've always regretted toy story 3 video game not being as good as this one, now we can get one of the best games of my childhood in all of it's glory! Keep going!
It already looks so promising; if and when it gets finished I really hope a lot of people get interested and blow it up, hell I'll do it if no one else does
I don't think it'll be available for everyone to play though. Just with the Simpsons Hit&Run fan remake, you can't just take intellectual property from a huge company like Disney and release a game to the public, even if it's free. Unfortunately this will stay a private project and we have to be content with just watching the videos
Yes, the best thing about T3 game was the Buzz video game level. The house level was short and underwhelming (but looked good!). Shame the pc got the wii version port which lacked many things from the ps3/xbox versions.
We don't get it. He's not releasing this without it getting shut down. But it'll be a great project to catapult his reputation in the game development community
@@Thornskade I actually just used Playstation's own emulator. It runs great, but the downside is that your choice of titles is limited to whatever they've ported over.
It looks so good! The new level models look so amazing :D One idea, update Narrative's font with something like Gill Sans - The toy story font! :D It might make it more cartoony and fit the game maybe!
Yep, I just didn't say Phillips because I didn't know if it was called that in other places around the world, so I used a more generic name of "regular screwdriver" lol
If there is only one complaint I have about this, and it is a VERY minor one, I will say that Buzz's run animation is a bit weird, as in I think his arms are swinging way too wide. Maybe replicate the way he runs in the movies more? But that's basically it, man! This looks great!
Looking great! Just a small change suggestion. I would make Buzz's glow less intense, as is supposed to be glow-in-the-dark not lit by LEDs, and would make it more of a bluish-green tint than a yellow-green like it currently is. 😊
This just looks sooo good. I love the progress of this project. My only wish is that this project somehow would become approved by Disney later on, like Disney funding this and later on releasing it on Steam and modern consoles. This looks way too good to just be a game remake concept, not for the public to be able to enjoy themselves.
My dream game is a Toy Story game that is a retelling of the first 3 movies and it takes all the features from all the Toy Story games while adding new stuff as well
A tip, if you aren't already using it: you can set cull distances on lights (along with fade distance) to disable rendering when you're far away, and you can add cull distance volumes around the level if you need to🤷🏻♂️ Looking great so far🎉
Yeah, I use render distance along with baked lighting to help with performance. My lights are all mixed lighting which means they bake onto static objects, but moveable objects (buzz, enemies, coins, etc) have shadows cast from real time lighting.
This projects is coming along great! Since you have so much things coming along, I’d love a remake for Toy Story Racers someday too.. it’s such a shame it never was released on anything but the PSX
Cool idea for you. The objects that send you flying could be like an assassins creed leap of faith. Have him stand climb to the top of chair then open his wings and say to infinity and beyond then have the animation they use in the film where he dives off the bedpost onto the ball to fly around the room with his eyes closed
I used to rent this from the video rental place every few months . I don’t think I ever got past the water level. But it was one of my favourite games regardless
All the money Disney has made off the back of Unreal Engine they should give back and license this as an official remake under favourable conditions to those involved in the project. I'd buy it.
Once u guys are done With you story 2 Could u make The Toy story 3 game? I only Remember There being A DS Version Of it that I played, I Loved everything about it and I think you all Could Make It Even more amazing Than it Already is. I can't Wait to Play this When it's Done you guys are amazing! ❤
@@Level_reDesignLooking more closely repositioning the camera vertically may be more important. You'll notice in the original he is closer to the bottom half of the frame with normal movement and shifts to the top of the frame when climing poles. The camera also shouldn't follow so tightly on the vertical axis when jumping. This would improve it much more than simply zooming out. You may already be aware of this but it's also easy to overlook small details like this!
The scale of the sofa definitely feels smaller than the original game. But I don't know if I just misremembered Buzz's jump height.

@Level_reDesign Hey Zach. This looks fantastic, as someone who played the original back then. I may have an idea for the shovel, not a coder. But mostly aesthetically. Why not let the shovel fall down onto a pair of tong like protrusions from the wall. A Shovel holder, of sorts. As for what may have been holding it up? Maybe a object that Buzz makes go away once he touches the shovel.
"Two of 'em are probably gonna have wrapped up electrical outlets for, like, outside. Kinda like the thick, green electrical cords that you used to plug up inflatables n' stuff." I USED TO DO WHAT!?!
Amazing progress! The garage is looking excellent, although the bricks look like bathroom tile. Would it be possible to make them look less clean and smooth?
I was actually thinking about this related to the bricks and the floor when looking at the slightly dirty box while editing the video. I may ask Kyle to make the garage a little more dirty to match that. Also, the garage bricks might could use a little bit more of an aggressive normal map on them as well
can the crank on sawblade model animate? usually that crank is used to raise and lower the sawblade. it feels kinda strange to me that the saw is going up and down, but the crank is not moving. edit: same thing with the 3-armed thing on the side of the drill press
Yeah, I would love to go back and make the system work based on the brightness of the exact position buzz is in. Currently Buzz's glow activates based on triggers for specific rooms (the basement and the attic, because they are darker rooms). I don't really know how to get the brightness value of Buzz's exact position, though I'm sure it is possible somehow. I just need to think about it for a bit and do a little research lol
Is the dialogue system going to be changed to be more like the original game's system, or are you gonna keep it like it is right now to be more distinct?
it would be cool if the stick of the shovel would break up when holding on to it, so you can still kind of slide down with it and as soon as you reach the floor it could then physically correct fall down
@@nybergsgarage ahhh I see. Playing the game would help. But still it looks rather silly in the original game. Maybe the stick can still get off but somehow gets stuck in the floor?

@Level_reDesign Awesome. Remember Nvidia demoed their path tracing tech with the rc cars racing indoor/outdoor? I imagine ur game can be as impressive as that. Definitely need a new card. 5080 is the way if not 5090 or current 4090. Looking forward to it. Keep the great job
I don't know anything about these sort of projects, or making games, etc. But isn't the fps for the game really bad, or is that something that is fixed towards the end?
Optimization is usually done mostly at the end for AAA games, but it also has to do with me usually running in editor to capture footage. UE5 eats 11.5GB of my 12 GBs of VRAM by itself. I have also optimized the lighting some this past month, which is shown on my video coming Thursday! I just did a test build today, and with my RTX 3060, it now runs between 80-110 fps. This can still go much higher, but this is good enough for now! It was about 45 in build before this lighting update
@ Very interesting, looking forward to the video this thursday! This is quite the cool project to watch, especially for someone as clueless to developing as myself
Hopefully Disney Remasters The Toy Story 2 Game it would be great to rerelease or remaster since Toy Story 5 is releasing 2026 maybe we can also get the first toy story game on snes & genesis or the bugs life game on ps1 since all three games are made by the same developers maybe we can also get a remaster of toy story racer with a vs. Mode, online play as well as playable characters and race tracks from the toy story sequels and short films

Nice work on the garage Kyle!
Are you helping voluntarily or being paid to work on this?

Every remake should do this. New bonus levels would never be a bad thing as long as all the original content is still there.
I recently just did a full replay of the original (Deathless too!) so I'm quite excited to see more of the project!
I can't wait to see this game get finished cause I grew up with the original version and loved it
It's never getting finished, Disney will sue this guy into oblivion
Not to mention how complex the later levels get, like the toy store and the rainy alleyway with the underwater sections
the attic is looking much better now
The camera system is one of the things I liked the most when replaying Toy Story 2. I think it should be replicated!
This is coming along very nicely. This is one of my favourites childhood games

To give the TS3 game some credit, it does have a good sandbox / city builder gamemode that's pretty in-depth.
I just recently replayed this game on an emulator, and it's still great fun. I totally understand why you chose to remake this game. It looks amazing!

WHAT!!!! HYPEST REMASTER OF 2024 HOLY
If you want to fix the pinching at the top of the sheild, try using a quad sphere instead of a uv sphere
Please Disney, let this man cook!
