Hello from the old man from Tennessee. I like watching a professional at work. I don’t feel as bad now because I have done the same thing. I’ve stepped on the net handle and broken it trying to net a fish. You needed the dog to help with the lights.

Bud nobody is worried about you coming with an A game at all times, it's fun to watch your adventures because it's legit what's happening in that current moment with zero fancy editing and equipment. I know if I filmed my fishing adventures it would look like an old Bill Dance fishing bloopers reel the entire time.
Spencer in my younger years I use to fish the elk river which is a tributary off the Tennessee River in North Alabama. The Elk River is a wood infested River system and I would target big flat head at night. Watching you fish at night brings back memories. Unfortunately I was diagnosed with stenosis in my upper spine and I had to stop catfishing. I mostly crappie and smallmouth fish now but I spent many of late nights hunting for those mean flathead. I love your style because itnis exactly how I use to fish. I would use big bluegill and crappie for bait and would catch some really big fish. I know the fish are still in tbe Elk River but I just can't fight them anymore. Anyway...live your channel, your style and most of all your knowledge. Great job.
It's funny you mention the Elk. I've fished the mouth of it several times and have always imagined there had to be some monsters in there. One of the things we do in Missouri when fishing the Mississippi is to drift with the current and hold the rod in our hand and bounce the bait off of the bottom, it seems to trigger strikes. For those who wonder why it's easier to catch catfish at night instead of during the day is that during the day, especially on hot days catfish tend to suspend in cover especially where there's shade and they go into almost a catatonic state. Then once the sun starts going down they wake up and come out of hiding and start to feed.
“I have no excuses. It caught me in a bad moment” that’s literally the only time the big ones decide to bite 😂. Thank you for another great video and congratulations on that monster catfish

Oh not a mess from my standpoint! Just a real fishing trip. I've had my challenges too but not with fish of this "caliber". They usually become funny stories to share. You do a great job and all videos are fun and may times a learning experience. Like someone told me years ago. "You can't be Snoopy everyday!" ( Snoopy, the dog in the old Peanuts cartoon, always handled everything with aplomb and with correct amount of class! 😎) . Aging myself a bit! 😉

Save on/from lead sinkers and use old railroad track spikes. They're all over anywhere near RR lines. Give 'em a couple coats of flex seal roofing epod and you're good to go. The flex seal protects lines from abrasion.

Hey, I was thinking about your light situation, check on these Jackery Portable Power Station. If you get some DC powered lights and figure out how to hang them somewhere you wouldn't have to rely on only your headgear light.
I've thought about that, it's just not as simple as the set up I have as long as I remember to charge them haha. Maybe I'll have a camera man someday.
Awesome fishing it never fails when the light fails i hang a light thats hooked up with a motion detector stand up step left on it goes thats a good back up but dam it draws some bugs be safe out there
If it wasn't for filming, I almost never have a light on. I hate bugs in my face

What size net do you throw on the river? My 5 footer must not sink fast enough I have a hard time catching bait in any depth or current
I throw an 8 and a 10 when I'm in places they're legal. It definitely makes a difference for big baits.

I'm actually fishing now having a tough time out in South Carolina even getting eater size cats usually I can catch some bait to use but down here since I moved I haven't been able to what is a good strategy to catch some eater size cats without shad or bluegill that will also maybe entice a big boy
