Learn about luxury watches from the comfort of your kitchen as we “Wake Up with Watches!” Host Tim Mosso takes watch collectors on a guided tour of the best luxury watch brands, models, and styles. Watches from A. Lange & Sohne, Patek Philippe, Rolex, and Zenith ensure that watch collectors of all ages, budgets, and wrist size are guaranteed to find the right match. As holiday season 2020 arrives, there is no better way to shop for watches than with the world leading WatchBox preowned luxury watch collection.
Rolex watches anchor almost every episode of this web show. While today’s feature is no exception, the specific Rolex watches shown are anything but routine.
Tim’s favorite Rolex chronograph, the platinum Rolex Daytona “anniversary,” explodes onto the screen with its piercing white platinum contours, signature Rolex “ice blue” dial, and chocolate ceramic bezel with chronograph registers to match. A rare and exotic “tuxedo dial” Rolex Datejust 36 with roulette date wheel adds uncommon beauty to today’s Rolex selection. Finally, a Rolex Submariner - better known as the “no date” Submariner - proves that the original dive watch nailed the class-defining styles right out of the gate in 1953. As the nearest living relative to the big-crown Rolex Submariners worn by Sean Connery as James Bond, the Rolex No-Date Sub is as close to Hollywood as the average watch enthusiast can hope to get.
“Patek Philippe Nautilus” might be the name that rivets the most attention in the luxury watch hobby. Both a time-tested classic and an of-the-moment object of watch collector infatuation, the Nautilus plays both the long game and the short. This stainless steel Nautilus Moonphase is the elegant reference 5712/1A, a micro-rotor automatic with a date display, power reserve indicator, and the titular moonphase complication.
The Patek Philippe 5712 exhibits the striated blue dial, integrated bracelet, and rounded polygon features that designer Gerald Genta bestowed on the legendary Nautilus 3700 “jumbo” in 1976. With both history and momentum on its side, the Nautilus ranks among the leading “grail watch” candidates for watch collectors of all descriptions.
Vacheron Constantin’s Overseas sports watch has yet to achieve the institutional status of the Nautilus, but Vacheron’s high horology steel sports flagship now has 24 years of excellence on which to stake its claim to the throne. Today’s Overseas Self-Winding is the rare and exquisite first-generation Overseas “military” dial. This COSC-certified Swiss chronometer sports a Girard-Perregaux-based automatic movement, 150-meter water resistance, and a world-class integrated bracelet to make the likes of AP and Patek take notice. Already considered a modern classic, examples of the first-generation Vacheron Overseas are gaining increasing recognition as collectible watches and emerging vintage watch classics.
