Very informative. I went into Rolex and they offered me the 41 two tone datejust yellow dial. When I refused the AD had an irritable facial expression.
I have two Tag Heuers, Rolex is a bit too upmarket for me. But regardless, i watch videos about Rolexes, simply because they sell a third of all Swiss watches and they have such a huge influence in the industry. Good to have honest channels like these that give us great information for new watch guys like me.
At one point the Mercedes dealers was charging 100k in markup on the G wagon and some idiots paid, now they offering $10k discount on MSRP, the Rolex will end up the same thing just matter of time

This is epic. Let me share my buying journey. Im a small business owner. So what i did was put 500 aside every month. 12 months got a tudor. 12 months later traded it in very small loss got a sub. 12 months later got a batgirl. Mind you still fixed 500 a month all this time. Im very excited cause my nect watch will be in the 23 to 26k range probably a two tone. Then 32k range. All the way to my patek grail watch. If i do this right. It will be when i retire. My Ad knows to call me a few days before my birthday is for delivery on my birthday. You dont have to be very wealthy to own a nice piece. I cam from nothing, literally homeless. My watch is a remind that my time on this earth is precious. Wear your watches in good health.
Its a great strategy but playing devils advocate - what happens when a piece you want doesn't arrive on your timeline? Do you have alternative measures in place? Also are you saying you sell your watch every year and use the accumulated funds + the 6k per year on your next piece? surely thats not sustainable as not all watches value and pricing increase linearly

I got a call from my AD today saying they have a yellow gold Yachtmaster ready. I thought I would have to wait at-least a year, but it's only been a few months. I am really surprised. I will buy it because I don't want to ruin my reputation with them and to get the eventual next one. And I really like it!
You don’t have to buy junk to get the pieces you want if you come over as a genuine buyer not everyone who walks into an AD is a flipper or TH-cam watcher..I would never paid a penny over RRP and I have got watches including 3 No date subs Explorers and several GMTs without any purchase history whatsoever or doing the dance as some call it.including purchasing at some of the largest Rolex ADs in London.they can spot the flippers a mile away they will be polite take your expression of interest seriously then put it in the bin before you reach the door….I have also purchased overseas as easily and was recently offered a No date sub at Dubai airport which I bought for my son..
I love my 126333 on oyster with Wimbledon dial from 2018. Got it now for 2 years and wear it as my daily watch. Just get it serviced and is now ready for the next years to come as a daily for me. Greeting from the Netherlands.

It’s so hard to say mate, but the really special dials like the Eisenkiesel could prove a good long termer! But our advice is always to buy what you like 🙌🏻💯
first i want to say i really love your video's 👌🏻 personally i would never buy a watch on the jubilee bracelet no matter what the 'market' thinks , i just prefer the oyster bracelet , and i dont buy a watch for the 'market' to like it i buy a watch for myself to like it , and if i lose money in the end so be it. buying stuff because other people like it /because it might impress other people is pathetic

It's really difficult to say, it could help purchasing the JC to build spend up, however, then you stand to lose money. Thank you Charlie. Great video as always. When it comes to collecting watches, I always put the dial above everything. I always say that the watches are not an investment, but the dials are. Bracelets and bezels can always be replaced, but not the dials. Original dial will always look original. This is why I buy mostly the precious metal watches. First of all they sell with discounts, and secondly they come with very unique dials. I am very lucky to own three of my favorite most eye pleasing watches, Daytona Pikachu, Pepsi Meteorite, and Milgauss Z-blue.

Idc if my watch is worth more or less than what I paid for it, I don’t ever plan on selling it. I didn’t buy it just to turn around and try to make some money. I want to keep it, wear it, and enjoy it.
I got on the list for a Bruce Wayne. As you said, they tried to get me to buy the gold version. Then they walked me over to the pre-owned room and let me try on some used GMTs they were asking $17K for! I'm not desperate and will just wait for the Bruce Wayne to come in...

Thank you for your honest assessment of the current Rolex market. I live in the US and have not seen the Bruce Wayne in steel nor two tone offered to me despite repeated attempts. BTW, I would settle for a green dial OP 41mm, but cannot get one at the AD neither.
The Bruce Wayne is an incredibly sought after model and as a result can prove harder to get from the AD. The green OP41 should prove easier, however, it is one of the more sought after combinations so you could be on the list for a long while. Just stay strong mate and don’t buy anything you don’t want 🙌🏻💯

Picked up my non date sub last Sunday as my first watch I have bought a 36 mm silver dial for my wife a couple of months ago I waited 13 months and my next watch I’m going to order is the bat girl. My AD has told me the wait should be about 18 months
I know this is a video about Rolex watches but I am currently in the market to buy my first luxury watch. I like the Cartier de santos skeleton but the price is throwing me off a bit. I have the funds to afford it and I really like the it but I still can’t find a reason to justify me buying a 30,000 dollar watch which is most likely going to be the watch I wear everyday. Any advice let me know.
Our advice is always to buy what you like! However, if the retail price is hard to justify, maybe have a look at a reputable grey market dealer, you might be able to find one for less 🙌🏻💯

Charlie, love the videos and always happy to see a post by this page. Do you think a Yacht-Master 37 is getable on the spot at an AD? Rarely see this model covered online. As someone with smaller wrists, I think it’s an under-appreciated alternative to the Submariner.
The ADs appear to have a smaller allocation of the Yacht-Master 37 in comparison to 40. It could take a while to receive one, but if you want one it’s worth putting your name down, just stay strong and don’t buy anything you don’t want 🙌🏻💯

It seems like a reasonable price, depending on the year and condition, however, you should keep in mind the 36mm Oyster/Smooth combination is a much slower seller than the 41mm Fluted/Jubilee! But if you like it and you'll wear it, our advice is always to buy it 🙌💯

It’s value all depends on the dial and the year! However, if you like the watch and you’re going to get enjoyment out of it we’d always recommend buying it 🙌🏻💯
It’s really hard to say mate as they’re two very different timepieces! I would say as a whole the Batgirl is more versatile! But it’s completely down to your personal preference 👌🏻💯
Honestly DJ41 is the only Rolex I’d like in the future. OP are also nice but it’s just no point. Horrible experiences so far, I’m moving on to JLC and a different AD than Bucherer
I went grey for my sub date. Currently still have my name down at the AD for one. It’s been 3 years since I put my name down…. That’s also with a purchase history of a Cartier for the wife. Absolutely ridiculous.
I asked the local AD sales staff what they do all day and they just smiled.... must be the easiest but also most boring sales job in the world since they are basically curators of a collection not sales people.
I agree with the jubilee bracelet. I have a white dial smooth bezel with jubilee and it looks beautiful. Datejust on an oyster just doesn’t sit right with me
Interesting insights however I don't understand the games. I purchased a DateJust36 YG/Diamonds 126283RBR for the Mrs. & I've been waiting for a batgirl for 3 years now... Rolex also produces the most amout of inventory in the world and yet they still seem to be the scarcest. Games. SMH. Instead, I was tired of waiting and went to a Vacheron boutique and purchased a Corne de Vache and ordered Overseas with the Blue dial in Rose Gold that arrived less than month later. Completely different vibe and experience. Additionally, I've already been offered various high complication pieces since then. I like the Rolex GMT and all but if I'm honest about the AD experiences I've had and the time wasted waiting, I'd rather add a Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante to the collection. There are other fish in the sea so to speak.

The Sky-Dweller has a small market due to its larger case, however, the steel with the Mint and Blue dial are still extremely popular in the market! The other combinations like the Bimetal and full gold prove much slower in the market 🙌🏻 The Sky-Dweller in gold is proving a big one for the ADs to push on unsuspecting clients, while the stainless steel can prove really difficult to acquire from the AD! 🙌🏻💯

You don’t have to buy junk to get the pieces you want if you come over as a genuine buyer not everyone who walks into an AD is a flipper or TH-cam watcher..I would never paid a penny over RRP and I have got watches including 3 No date subs Explorers and several GMTs without any purchase history whatsoever or doing the dance as some call it.including purchasing at some of the largest Rolex ADs in London.they can spot the flippers a mile away they will be polite take your expression of interest seriously then put it in the bin before you reach the door….I have also purchased overseas as easily and was recently offered a No date sub at Dubai airport which I bought for my son..
I love my 126333 on oyster with Wimbledon dial from 2018. Got it now for 2 years and wear it as my daily watch. Just get it serviced and is now ready for the next years to come as a daily for me. Greeting from the Netherlands.

It's really difficult to say, it could help purchasing the JC to build spend up, however, then you stand to lose money. It's also a good idea to stay true to the mint skydweller and show how serious you are about purchasing that piece. Glad you're enjoying the content mate, really appreciate the support 🙌👌

Thank you Charlie. Great video as always. When it comes to collecting watches, I always put the dial above everything. I always say that the watches are not an investment, but the dials are. Bracelets and bezels can always be replaced, but not the dials. Original dial will always look original. This is why I buy mostly the precious metal watches. First of all they sell with discounts, and secondly they come with very unique dials. I am very lucky to own three of my favorite most eye pleasing watches, Daytona Pikachu, Pepsi Meteorite, and Milgauss Z-blue.

Thank you for your honest assessment of the current Rolex market. I live in the US and have not seen the Bruce Wayne in steel nor two tone offered to me despite repeated attempts. BTW, I would settle for a green dial OP 41mm, but cannot get one at the AD neither.
The Bruce Wayne is an incredibly sought after model and as a result can prove harder to get from the AD. The green OP41 should prove easier, however, it is one of the more sought after combinations so you could be on the list for a long while. Just stay strong mate and don’t buy anything you don’t want 🙌🏻💯

I know this is a video about Rolex watches but I am currently in the market to buy my first luxury watch. I like the Cartier de santos skeleton but the price is throwing me off a bit. I have the funds to afford it and I really like the it but I still can’t find a reason to justify me buying a 30,000 dollar watch which is most likely going to be the watch I wear everyday. Any advice let me know.
Our advice is always to buy what you like! However, if the retail price is hard to justify, maybe have a look at a reputable grey market dealer, you might be able to find one for less 🙌🏻💯

It's easier to acquire than the vast majority of models, however, it all depends on who the AD already has on their books for that timepiece 🙌
How do you get your watches so shiny and gleaming, I use soft tooth brush and baby soap and it does shine but your watches seem to be gleaming. Mayb it’s the lighting? Heard some guy used glass cleaner any advice??
We simply use water and a microfibre cloth mate! The lighting set up definitely helps it shine that bit more! 🙌👌

Charlie, love the videos and always happy to see a post by this page. Do you think a Yacht-Master 37 is getable on the spot at an AD? Rarely see this model covered online. As someone with smaller wrists, I think it’s an under-appreciated alternative to the Submariner.
The ADs appear to have a smaller allocation of the Yacht-Master 37 in comparison to 40. It could take a while to receive one, but if you want one it’s worth putting your name down, just stay strong and don’t buy anything you don’t want 🙌🏻💯

It seems like a reasonable price, depending on the year and condition, however, you should keep in mind the 36mm Oyster/Smooth combination is a much slower seller than the 41mm Fluted/Jubilee! But if you like it and you'll wear it, our advice is always to buy it 🙌💯

Interesting insights however I don't understand the games. I purchased a DateJust36 YG/Diamonds 126283RBR for the Mrs. & I've been waiting for a batgirl for 3 years now... Rolex also produces the most amout of inventory in the world and yet they still seem to be the scarcest. Games. SMH. Instead, I was tired of waiting and went to a Vacheron boutique and purchased a Corne de Vache and ordered Overseas with the Blue dial in Rose Gold that arrived less than month later. Completely different vibe and experience. Additionally, I've already been offered various high complication pieces since then. I like the Rolex GMT and all but if I'm honest about the AD experiences I've had and the time wasted waiting, I'd rather add a Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante to the collection. There are other fish in the sea so to speak.

Why is the sky dweller model always missed and not covered? Is it not as popular on the market?
The Sky-Dweller has a small market due to its larger case, however, the steel with the Mint and Blue dial are still extremely popular in the market! The other combinations like the Bimetal and full gold prove much slower in the market 🙌🏻
The Sky-Dweller in gold is proving a big one for the ADs to push on unsuspecting clients, while the stainless steel can prove really difficult to acquire from the AD! 🙌🏻💯
