Merry Christmas bros! I hope you're all enjoying your new Launchpads ;) Here's a little video to help everyone out who's downloaded my First of the Year (Equinox) project. I hope you enjoyed this Launchpad demonstration of how to play this song!
ABLETON 9 USERS: Select the "Lights" track and change the midi channel from Ch1 to Ch 5 and you should get the light effects.

I started playing, did the first part "Ah that's fine", got to the one handed "Oh, ok I can deal with this", vocals "I think i know where it's goin...", both vocals and instruments of the intro "Fuck."

1.select your Launchpad for the input
2.select all channels for input
3.select Launchpad for output
4.select ch.1 for output

My computer recently got a virus and I had to delete everything (but its gone) so I need to download all my files and stuff again. What I did to fix my lighting I found out by ripping my hair out and I accidently did it I was just clicking stuff pretty much.
This video is so satisfying, it just starts slow and then it gets faster, and I feel like I've accomplished something even though I've accomplished nothing in life.
Wish I had one of these... and the skill to pull this off. :D

***** this actually happened to me too but i got over it! to get over it, what i did is I first did one part with one hand for a really long time and then I tried the other part with my other hand and I kept doing that over and over again until i got it right. I did this in one day believe it or not lol

First you got to get it set up with ableton, there are many videos for that. Next you should definatley look up the video kill the robot on novation's TH-cam channel.

Super-cool of you to put this together. I just learned of Launchpad a week ago. I just can't imagine how you guys play these things. I know you're showing me, but that's still an awful lot to have to remember. You gotta have a robot brain or something to play that thing. I'm going to download this tutorial and give it a try. Im using LUNCHPAD S, lights work wenn you go to "LIGHTS" and swap both to "NO INPUT" and "NO OUTPUT" and then back to "LUNCHPAD S" worked for me, thumb up for other people solution.

Man do I have questions for you (by the way I think you are a god at what you do and people like you surely don't get enough credit). Look, I just got the pad on Christmas and I love it. I found how to light the buttons up, make random patterns, but you my friend take it to a whole another level. What midi effects do you use to get it specific like that? Also, how do you take samples from songs. I cant seem to get free samples except cheap loops of music off random websites. I want to learn how to make samples from songs so I can remix and play my fav songs on the launchpad. I probably have a ton more questions for you but I can barely think since it's 2:00AM here. I'm so freaking glad you made this tutorial. I suck at the pad, but I hope one day I could acquire enough skill to be good as you for the launchpad. Thanks for your vids. Thanks so much for the tutorial!! Finally fixed my lights in Abe 9 after seeing Chuck Norris' comment below (switch the lights setting that says "lauchpad", change it to main and then back again")

this will probably be embarrassing later in life, but i want to get a headstart on my launchpad practice. i own a tablet with a screen, so i drew myself a really simple launchpad (dimensions are a bit off, but im working with what i got). pretty ridiculous, huh

Everytime i use a pad that turns on a lot of lights the sounds get like kind of laggy, like if it where consuming a lot of memory or something. Any ideas my friends??
use another driver like asio4all

Ettiene Rodriguez Don't bother with asio4all... your far better off spending a little bit of money and getting a dedicated (external usb) soundcard.

Just got my launch pad s today managed to learn the first bit in like 15 mins but holy shit does it get hard
hey man, after downloading the project off of the link and opening it in ableton, how exactly do you setup the project so it works with the launchpad. I recently got my launchpad as well and have everything set up correctly.

I have a launch pad mk2 and I use ableton 9. None of the buttons match up. Any suggestions? I'm also new to it and that may be the issue.

to all the people who care so MUCH about what launchpad he's using. Its a Novation Launchpad. The orginal one. You can find them on ebay.
If you wanna use the lights than you'll have to hook up some extra files. Simple stuff.
Also it is pretty clear that if you wanna be a good "Launchpadder"? you'll have to have a bit of experience with pianos. It helps use all those fingers and play 2 different rythms at once.

What launchpad do you have?
+LD986 MK2. I can change it to go to track 2 or 3 but can't make it move up or down one at a time.

+Plaxen (sorry for bad english)You have to click MIDI) On the top right corner,then you have to click chain selector (down left) and then click at the same the 8 channels launchpad bottons (that for change channel)

To everyone having an issue with the lighting, just reset your launch pad by going into the drop down and selecting Launchpad AGAIN by the lights section. yw. :3

i didnt need to change the channel. this is what did it for me, assuming your using abelton live, the program should be layed out with three rows and a little control box on the right of each one. this is the default screen when you open the project file. each control box has a "title" and one of them should be titled "lights" (written in bold in the top left corner of each box) in the box where it says "
"output" or "output device" or something like that, click it and select "no device" or "nothing" any option that disconnects it from an output. let it update (should take about 2 seconds but this might not happen at all, dont worry if it doesnt) click the box again and reselect your launchpad. voila! if this doesnt work, another thing tht you need to do is go to the "session" page on your launchpad and turn on the top 3 or 4 (if you turn on too many it doesnt matter so turn on 4) once those are on and you have completed the previous step, it should be working flawlessly! hope i helped
