At the end of this year's Olympics in Rio, we were all SHOCKED to see the Prime Minister of Japan jump out of a human-sized green pipe, dressed as Mario, and declare that the 2020 Olympics will be in Japan! His announcemenet made me wonder, just how would good old Mario fare at the Olympics? It seems like he'd crush the competition, but science might have something else to say about it. So does Mario take home the gold, or does he unexpectedly not even make it into the winner's circle?

Mario wouldn't get 3 bronze medals, he would get 3 silver. The reasoning is quite simple: Peach is a girl. Men and woman can't compete together, they have to compete in separate events.

Anything is legal if there isn't a rule stating otherwise. Even if it is Magic, I highly doubt the olympics committee was like "you know, we should make a rule against using magic. You know, just to keep things fair." I've seen some people say that they would probably make a law banning flutters and hovers, but even if they did after the fact, that wouldn't strip them of the medals they already won with their powers.
Magic would be TOTALLY banned by the Olympics comity. Its a performance booster same as PED's.

@@TearDaTaco cheese is very utilized in Italian cuisine, since there are a lot of dishes that use it, for example it's used on a lot of types of pasta to enhance the flavor, but please, if there's a type of pasta that doesn't want cheese, especially Parmesan, is spaghetti with clams, for us it feels like eating a hot-dog for breakfast. Another fairly famous Italian meal that requires cheese is Caprese, wich usually is mozzarella cheese accompanied by tomatoes. Cheese is also heavily used on pizza, for it's nice texture that goes really well with both types of pizza, yes, there are 2 types of pizza: the Roman pizza and the Neapolitan pizza, the difference is in the consistency: Roman pizza is much more crunchy than the soft Neapolitan one, but, even if pizza is delicious, we don't eat it very often, since it's a very "heavy" food, it's full of carbohydrates and it fills you up really quickly and it isn't very healthy, so we don't eat it all that much, on average once a week or once a month

I dont see how that adds up though. Mario doesnt DO any running in that theory. he just takes a pipe to the end. So that would mean the pipe just has high suction power. Why not make a flat track that is the same distance for both characters and see who gets to the end first.

For instance, when he was showing Mario's weight on the games at 11:36, he made it sound like Mario gained mass by saying he was 181 Kg in the game, but grams measure mass not weight, so Mario's mass would stay the same wherever he is.

I'm pretty sure Mario can instantly long jump the moment he lands, making it possible.
The problem is that the triple jump isn't just three jump: it's often called the "Hop, Skip, and Jump." The second jump is from the same leg you land on, which makes it look like a skip.
I always thought the second one was called step :/
But yeah, I was kinda torn between facepalming and finding it cute how MatPat naively just chained three full jumps together. Also to consider that you have a limited area where you can perform your jump from first to last jump.

ok, so i agree, i like to pronounce it with a hard g, but saying it's pronounced that way because the g stands for graphic would also mean that JPEG would be pronounced jay-feg as the p stands for "photographers". The triple jump has appeared in all 3D Super Mario games.
But MatPat! If you see at basically any triple jumper in the world, the first jump will always be longer than the second, and the third jump. Because at the first jump, he just runs and jumps, but at the second, you have weight pulled towards the ground because of your jump and height. And so triple jumps in olympics, is WAY different than just three seperate jumps.

Alos, a triple jump uses different steps than he describes. Left left right for someone right footed, and right right left for someone left footed.
