    Excellent, the most clear explanation of this process I’ve seen. Thank you.

    I tasted those peaches from the Okanagan valley years ago when I was in Vancouver and I still remember how sweet they were just canned in syrup or fresh. Fantastic!

    Thank you Grandma Terri!! I love that you have taken the time to create this video. I love the idea that your grandkids, and great grandkids, and even great great grandkids will be able to learn to can peaches by you.

    Glad to meet you Ms Teri, your peaches are beautiful. Love your old Kerr canning book. Enjoy your peaches come winter.

    Thank you so much, my family loves chilled peaches after dinner, and I've noticed a funny taste to store can peaches. I'm going to see if I can find peaches on sale and get to canning , because those are beautiful.

    I made my canned peaches by your video when they came in season of 2022. Amazing and easy! I did use a 1/4 recipe of homemade brown sugar and they're kinda like caramel peaches. I never knew how easy it could be. Thank you!!!!

    Found your video, your instructions seem easy enough but I’ve heard that canning can be difficult if the lids don’t seal good. Those peaches actually look so good… don’t know if I could of handled them without eating one. Lol ☺️. Thank you for sharing with all of us!

    You can also soak the peaches in lemon water vs salt.

      Lemon 🍋 water is a good idea 👍. We have our own lemon trees. Any idea of what the ratio of water to lemon juice should be?

    That is called boiling water canning. It is simply a large pot with a rack on the bottom. Canning jars filled with food and with canning lids secured are completely immersed in boiling water for however long that particular food requires. After processing, as the jars cool, a vacuum seal is formed.

    I canned six lugs of peaches Saturday into Sunday morning 15 and a half hours 😵‍💫
    A total of 59 pints 17 quarts 🙌
    I wish I would have had 30 count lug boxes!!!!
    Mine were 44, 40 and 36
    they were $24.99 a lug🙃
    It's amazing what a year makes in the price
    Again I wish they were all 30's like yours 😉💜

      Glad you got them all canned. A big job for sure 👍. I haven’t gotten any to can yet this year but no doubt the price will probably be double ☹️.

    Thank you for this video. Have you done mandarins oranges?

    • @territrafton3100

      No, I have never canned mandarin oranges. They don't grow in our part of the country but I am sure they would be great!

    Thank you for bringing us into your kitchen Ms Teri. Your canned peaches look beautiful. I missed the opportunity to can peaches this year. However excited to can them next year. I was wondering do all yellow peaches typically have a Ph 3.4 to 3.6 including Freestone? Is it necessary to take a reading and should I be concerned? Thanks again

    • @territrafton3100
      @territrafton3100  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry Cruz. I have not idea what the Ph of peaches is and have never been asked that question.

    Can you use these canned peaches for pies??

    • @territrafton3100
      @territrafton3100  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t see why not. I guess it would depend on how soft they are after canning and how firm you want them in your pie. Personally, I have never made a peach 🍑 pie.

    Do you have to put heavy syrup in with the peaches?

    • @territrafton3100
      @territrafton3100  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never use a heavy syrup which is about
      4 3/4 cups sugar to 5 cups water. I use a light to medium syrup. Usually 2 cups white sugar to 4 cups water.

  • @audriabuchanan244
    @audriabuchanan244 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is that cane sugar or beet sugar?

    • @territrafton3100
      @territrafton3100  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't say for sure because our packaging doesn't specifiy, but I am pretty sure it is cane sugar. Really, you could use whatever you want in the syrup and sweeten it to your taste.

    • @audriabuchanan244
      @audriabuchanan244 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@territrafton3100 Actually beet sugar,which is cheaper in the western US, has a higher reducing potential than cane sugar. When I used beet sugar, my peaches turned dark very early. Fruit Fresh was not even beneficial.

    • @territrafton3100
      @territrafton3100  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have never used Fruit Fresh or had a problem with the peaches going very dark. Maybe 🤔 a wee bit. I wonder how corn syrup would be to sweeten the syrup. I might try that this year.

    To anyone watching now you can add a few drops of lemon juice to the water and it will keep them from going brown

      What about it? Did you mean the peach 🍑 skins? I compost them. I have never canned apples 🍎 but I have a video on making and canning applesauce 😊.

    I used to can peaches but quit because they turned out mushy and yucky. Is there a secret to keeping them firm like commercially canned peaches? I'm afraid to try again and waste them.

    • @territrafton3100
      @territrafton3100  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have never had that problem. Were they freestone peaches 🍑? They are the best for canning. Also, perhaps they were too ripe or you left them too long in the boiling water bath?
