@@stonebanton7716 Wait, if The Last Dance is a TV series to "propagandize" his career, what do we call sports media today who's paid to only say nice things about Lebron James, and now his kid too? What about the media MVP voters that got emails from Klutch Sports to vote for Lebron? Let's not forget about Lebron crying to the media to get Draymond Green suspended for the 2016 finals, you thought people forgot? Let's not forget about Harrison Barnes in the 2016 playoffs run, as well as how the refs allowed the Cavs to play very physical on Steph (scratches all over his arms), but called any ticky tack fouls for the Cavs.
This is for the real ones who watched the 2016 series. NBA was trying their hardest to extend that series.

I don’t need anybody’s opinion on how great MJ was. I lived in Chicago. I watched this man play. There had never been anyone like him, and there hasn’t been since. There have been some close seconds (Kobe) and some new originals (Curry) but Jordan’s career was a literal story book. And it’s almost all on film. He’s the one guy who you never get tired of watching.

Kobe was not a close second. He was a poor man Jordan. Kobe's career(the last 5-6 years) at the end was painful to watch and people nowadays seem to just give him all the undeserved credit due to his tragic passing.
Penny was more talented and well rounded coming in the league and we never saw him peaked due to injury. Same with Grant Hill that's far more promising as a young player than the current crops of so called superstar.

Why is it so difficult for this new generation to understand that MJ was a damn generational talent that was leaps and bounds ahead of the times. We simultaneously watched the 2019-2024 playoffs aswell. It is fkn easy to see that from 1984-1998 the defense was way tougher!!! It is just so fkn obvious that it is not even a comparison. Today is just almost nonexisting comparing to the 80s and 90s not because players dont want to defend, rather the refs doesnt let them do anything what they could have done in previous eras, while in the same time they let all the players get away with travels, carries, and many offensive faults, gathering steps also gave them a legal 3rd step but they many times let them do even 4-5 steps without punishing them. You have to be a highly hypocrite person to deny these facts. And when you say "Dude watch the games!" I am sure already that actually you are the one who didnt watch those games. And i am pretty sure you only watched highlights about the 80s-90s in which they cherrypicked some pretty rare situations when there were no defense, and you believed those were common things.
In short: YOU start to watch the 90s games!!!

Its always interesting to think how strict traveling and carrying the ball was back then and hand checking was allowed. if the game was called like that today..players wouldnt seem so "skilled"..would they? 😂 theyd be literally forced to play by the rules and would restrict so much unnecessary ball handling, cuz coaches would bench people if they start getting all these turnovers.

The current generation of fans, sports analysts, and pseudo-experts actively celebrates mediocrity. People consider players like Embid, Harden, and Paul George elite when arguments downplay the significance of winning championships. A recent video on Kobe Bryant highlights my point, showing how LeBron James froze against Dallas in 2011. While no one denies Jordan’s flaws, the current generation dismisses James flaws. So, it's no surprise that mediocrity is being celebrated.

Nick's insane fixation on destroying and diminishing MJ at every turn makes him disgusting. Skip Bayless goes way overboard about LeBron but he's a troll. Nick has many good takes but when it comes to LeBron vs MJ he becomes less sports commentator and more boo defending her baby daddy. Dude literally brought in high school and college accolades to push MJ to 3rd on his top NBA list that by any metric justifies ZKarerm at #1 but removed that criteria so LeBron didn't also have to be judged by them. Thank you SmokeDog! As many have said, it really depends upon whose rules they played under... But assuming you try to neutralize that by allowing some mix of both with each side allowed time to train and adjust.... I'd LOVE to get some coaches/players responses to how players' fundamentals, skills and discipline would impact the results of 80s/90s players vs modern players matchup. Today, we can barely beat the rest of the world, and all the NBA's best players develop and train elsewhere around the globe. Modern players never get the critical college experience old school players all received to learn fundamentals. Where would Jordan have been without the fundamentals and work ethic he developed at UNC? Are we seeing that player today in someone like Anthony Edwards? I think we've seen, especially on defense, old school players would more than hold their own (what could LeBron do against Pippen and Rodman all night?)...
Some modern bigs have grown up playing outside the post, and would create matchup problems. But no one today could defend Shaq or Hakeem. Modern players do have some advanced training and nutrition that would impact careers (how long could Larry Joe have played?), but not peak players' in an individual game, or playoff series...

And their '93 Playoff run paid the rent at the Lincoln Park restaurant (Sedgwick's) I'd just opened that Spring (I can still hear the deafening roar of the crowd when Paxson sank the gm6 jumper to win the series). I lived this and watched every one of these games live. And while the change in traveling rules I am painfully aware of, as it has made the modern game almost unwatchable for me (it's hard to enjoy a game when every drive looks like traveling or carrying, by 80s standards). I had no idea how much they'd changed the assist rules - until I watched your analysis. Thank you. (how badly do we have to get our butts kicked internationally, before we stop adjusting the rules to make the modern game easier?) To have someone creating this content, in whom we can entrust the history and legacy of what we experienced is gratefully appreciated! 🙏 I can't wait for your coverage of the Celtics "god" series in '86, or their 15-2 run in '91!!!

Jordan is the most double-teamed player in history except for possibly Shaq in his prime. What kids today don't understand is that this type of swarming, hard trap defense took the ball out of players' hands, preventing star players from putting up numbers. Today when teams try this, they just call a foul on the defense if the trap is even half as aggressive as some of the ones in this video. Thus the offensive player gets to the line, puts up more points, and this also discourages continued trapping.

I have never seen anyone ever come close to MJ in his ability to consistently perform at the highest level especially when it matters most. And just objectively that comment is so massively stupid like MJ averaged 50% from the field for his career so its quite obviously he missed exactly 50% of his shots which is in fact elite for a shooting guard who is scoring 30ppg for his career. Colin Cowface is the worst analyst on earth literally. If you didn't actually watch MJ's entire career you really don't have room to speak.

We all here the career stats argument, yet never about MJ played 3 years in college winning a natty. Plus 2 years first retirement and 3 more before being a Wizard. So thats 8 years worth of career stats lost.
Then you look at averages against peers at thier position MJ is mainly top 3 in most Bron isnt.
Bron is a much larger man plays closer to the basket yet has never averaged 10 RPG a season His calling card is acknowledged as being a passer still never 10 APG a season. He plays in an era where scoring is up by 15 to 20 PPG, with just 1 scoring champ. On defense hes had probably 5 seasons you could say he was elite.
Mike had 10 scoring champs when scoring was in the 90's for a game. Scored more in an era where defense was played harder and scoring was lower.
Just things to consider before having a debate on who's the GOAT.
Then you have to consider is Bron even in the conversation? Yes he's a damn good player, just lacks those jaw dropping moments on a consistent basis.
6 guys I'd say are in this conversation.
    1. W. Chamberlain
    2. Kareem
    3. L. Bird
    4. M. Johnson
    5. M. Jordan
    6. K. Bryant
Possibly G Hill and D Rose if injurieshadn't robbed them of thier athleticism
To me Bron is a shorter version of Shaq. Both are above average, imagine if they had the drive of the other men above to improve and hone their game from day 1 to the end of their career what we could be saying. I feel both had more to give than playing bully ball

The Chief Robert Parrish who played with MJ during his mythic 1996 Season has been taking shots at him saying his Airness couldn't surpass Bird's Celtics, Thomas' Pistons and Magic's Lakers during the 80's, hence he shouldn't be considered the GOAT:
    1. Bird's Celtics had three Hall of Famers, and one finals MVP during 1979 at DJ Johnson, plus another Hall of famer coming from the bench at Bill Walton.
    2. Thomas' Pistons had three Hall of Famers, and still were beaten by Jordan during the 1991 ECFS( it's BS they were passed their primes), Thomas was 30, Dumars 28, and Rodman around 30.
    3. The Lakers had three Hall of Famers.
Jordan had no help during the 80's, and Pippen picked during the 1991 Season.
IGNORANCE IS DARING....ANONYMOUS, And the living proof goes to Robert Parrish, Jordan wasn't the greatest teammate due to his competiveness? Hell Yes, But I guess why he won so many titles during his illustrious career.

Jordan never beat Bird's Celtics teams in the playoffs (ever), and it took 4 (yes, 4!) very painful years to get past the Pistons. To "the Chief's" credit, he has stated on more than one occasion MJ was the GOAT. And Bird is the one, as the reigning back2back league MVP in 1986, that said MJ was "god disguised as a basketball player".

Thanks for posting the video to expose all these lies. I always tell people if you actually watch the games, one will notice defenses commonly doubled, trapped, & played zone in the 80s & 90s. The key was that a player had to keep moving unless get whistled for illegal defense.
Secondly, it also proves how rule changes over time makes the game easier - for example the assists & traveling. Today most assists aren't really assists, but it looks good on the stat sheet. That doesn't really bother me, but the traveling is insane.

    Beautiful video!
Specially illustrating the difference in assists, something that’s often forgotten. I loved that you didn’t just talk about it, but showed us exact examples of how the definition of an assist has changed to fit the inflated stats era.
I also applaud you for highlighting the zone and traps he faced. Yet, another myth dispelled.
I do have one request: Can you focus on how handchecking and other physical play affects a player? There’s some exaggeration from our side which warps expectations in regards to physical play.
We can give the perception that it was a wrestling match 99% of the time, which idiots then pick apart with a fine comb detailing how it wasn’t every play. I believe that does a disservice to the actual physical aspects which are mostly subtle and hidden. There’s tons of grabbing to keep the player from getting the ball which go unnoticed. There’s hard screens set that are often offensive fouls, with players being hit with elbows, hip checks and should bumps that are hidden. Then there’s the misunderstanding of how effective hand checking actually is.
People believe that hand checking will automatically stop an offensive player dead on their tracks, but that’s another misinterpretation by our era. It does NOT stop a player 100% of the time. But it does do a few things:
    1. A hand checking is effective at guiding a player into a trap, or forcing them into a difficult situation.
    2. A hand checking keeps the offensive player from getting into an offensive rhythm, specially useful for taking away an offensive player’s dribbling. Which is why modern day handles weren’t that common back then, specially for taller players. It’s simply harder to dribble when you have no space and there’s a hand in your waist keeping you from getting a rhythm.
    3. Perhaps the most vital aspect is: it’s not a foul! It gives the defence an additional advantage specially compared to today’s era. If I’m allowed to touch you without a foul, it gives the defender more options and freedom to redirect you or force you into their game plan. Today, the defence is at the mercy of the offensive player. The offensive player can dictate what they can and want to do if the defender can’t touch you. It allows them to set up their offence without opposition.
Sorry for the long post, hopefully you’re able to read this and address some (if not all) in your future vids.

@Uncut Hoops What you are doing for basketball, Jordan, his legacy, and future generations, is prolific. I have the utmost respect for you, and appreciation too. Thank you so much for all your dedication, meticulous attention to detail, resilience and excellence. Guys who even played old MJ like Ron Artest said he was still a problem. Ron /Metta was one of the best defenders of the 2000s and MJ averaged around 23 ppg at 40, shooting very few 3s in the dead ball era on Ron.
This notion MJ was just a flash in the pan 80s player is silly. They couldn’t stop prime MJ in 1984, 1994, 2004 or even 2024. There is no era of NBA basketball he couldn’t dominate. He shot the 3 ball well enough to keep you honest and he didn’t obsessively work on it. I think Wilt Chamberlain would be completely unstoppable now, even with only a decent middy. Who’s going to stop him down low? Gobert, Wemby, Jokic, Embiid.

ArenASS is absolutely nuts. 2010's and 2020's are weak defensively and the player's jack up threes, don't post up, don't have a mid-range, don't box out and have legit rebounding, and don't run plays.

@scott783 its because they dont need to, due to 2 defensive rule changes. 1. No hand checking, this means players can see the whole court easily, it opens up passing lanes and allows guys to dribble for longer before making a move. In the 80's/90's its 1 or 2 dribbles make a move off a picknroll, or move the ball, while you are backing in. Today guys are front on, easier to pass or get range on a jumper as there is more space to do so.
      2. 4 second rule in the lane. Guys have to constantly rotate out of the lane. Good ball handlers will target a player wait for the rotation then attack the lane. Defense cant stop it or they get hit with a 4 second violation. Just my thoughts

The only reason why these kids pick LeBron over Jordan is because THEY NEVER GOT TO SEE JORDAN PLAY LIKE THEY SEE LEBRON PLAYING NOW ON TV OR IN PERSON. If Jordan were playing now, I am 100% certain these kids would choose MJ.

I am NOT a Bulls fan. I WAS NOT a Bulls fan...I was not a Jordan fan, but I recognize greatness...
    LeBron is NOT great...
At his height and weight and with the two minimal abilities he has (running and jumping) and the one VERY MINIMAL SKILL he has dribbling (for as tall as he is), he should have ACTUALLY dominated the NBA... If he had HALF the dawg that Jordan, Kobe or even Curry have, he would have for 10-0 in the Finals, gotten MULTIPLE DPOY awards, played 82 games more than just once in his career, as opposed to LOAD MANAGING all the time...I could go on and on...
Jordan was, during his prime playing days, 55 pounds less than LeBron and 3 inches shorter... Played in a MUCH TOUGHER NBA (by the way, any idiot that asserts how today's NBA is tougher, can NEVER explain how it's tougher!).
Jordan played 82 games (a full season) 9 TIMES in his career! That's Stockton did this 16 times. AC Green did 14 times, K. Malone & Randy Smith did it 10 times and Jordan is tied for 4th place, having played 82 games NINE times...
And, of all top 10 players, Jordan has the MOST 82 game seasons in history...
LeBron, once again, is larger and stronger than Jordan and Stockton and plays in a softer era of the NBA and yet, he could only manage to accomplish this feat ONCE?
Even Earl Boykins, 5'5" 135 managed that!

Underneath the surface of all the stats and analysis is the fact that the NBA is sports entertainment. Michael Jordan was and still to this day the most flyest looking game, dramatic shot making, superhero status in Chicago, supervillain to all others , most entertaining player I can ever think of. You never lost money on him if you bet on the finals. He lived up to all the hype.

Great video! Also interesting to note in the Bucks series, the Bulls were +10 in 192 minutes with Jordan on the court and -32 in 21 minutes with Jordan off the court.
