Fair video. I have had the M28U for about three weeks. So far, it's great. I work from home and play games from time to time. I wanted an good all rounder that had 4k resolution and at least 144hz refresh rate. This was the only thing I could find that wasn't crazily expensive. I still paid quite a lot for this, about £530 UK pounds. I play games in 4k and it's great. I am happy with it as a work monitor. I won't be changing it for a few years. I feel it's the best value buy in the current market.
Nice review. I am planning on buying a monitor but it would be 60-70% office work like working on visual studio, terminal, browser and 30-40% gaming like call of duty, ac valhalla etc. Could you please let me know if it has good text clarity, etc for office work ?
@@krazywabbit thank you for the informative reply. I can now buy this monitor without any worry thanks to you. Hopefully it will work great with a macbook pro 2018 intel corei7 version.
@@TheyCallMeRo M28U is working really well with the 2018 version macbook pro. It auto adjusted the text size to a larger font which is easily readable. There are options to change the font size manually in the settings as well.
How does this monitor act regarding the MacOS display scaling issues? MacOS is notorious for requiring specific PPI in order to not show blurry fonts and I struggle with selecting the best budget monitor for it.
To be honest, I do not have any issues on my end when I change the screen resolution. For example, when I turned 52, I popped the screen 100x and I could read without issues. Does that answer your question. Probably not. I'll leave.
if anyone has a m28u and cru and use hdmi, can you export BIN file in cru (bottom left) and post a link pls, i messed up my hdmi, dp works though, cru reset doesnt fix it for me
The only problem with this monitor is brightness, I mean when you turn on HDR on Windows 11 and the Local Dimming you can see the real Peak of Brightness and it's sad that you cant use that peak on SDR mode.
By the way if you that, and try to play games and other thing the HDR trys to compesate colors and blah blah and then you lose the peak, so is just to show the full pontencial, if someone could change the firmware just to turn on the local dimming we could use this monitor on 500 nits all day.
One thing that bothers me - red signs like “delete” or something like that, appearing in Pixelmator or a similar programs - they look pixelish. All is great but this red thin sings on buttons... They look bad.

Read same too. It’s not affected my experience. Granted, I’m over 50, so it’s probably taking 1 second to get to my eyes. Hmm. No wonder I’m getting reflected from hand invites. Time to retire.
@@krazywabbit haha. im updating the firmware through the gigabyte osd sidekick software via pc to f07. it does make the m28u much brighter and cuts the response time in half. f08 and f10 firmware decreases brightness again. on which firmware are you?

How easy is it to change inputs between ps5 and a laptop on this monitor? I've currently got the Samsung G7 and switching sources is a pain.

How is the hdr brightness..are there options to increase brightness in hdr..
