- Behind the scenes of all the Discord news I covered, Discord employees have been cooking up some interesting features. That you might be excited for..... or you might not :P
But for you to make up your mind, I have to leak these new Discord experimental features.
And since this is like a classical Discord news video, there are some updates that fix some long time issues with discord. And there are some updates that you might have missed (since I assume most of you have a life outside of Discord).
Also can we all forget that I said I would wear a maid outfit at 1m subs.

Settings search is actually a godsend with how weird some of the setting placements are on Desktop. If this actually gets added, I have a feeling I won't be the only one rejoicing.

I fear that it won't have a lot of customization, but only set voices like "Male", "Female", "Alien", "Robot", etc
I want something where I can change it up however I want and save them as presets

Wouldn't mind a preset if I could tweak certain aspects of it, because I would love a robot one but don't want it to be layered heavily on... but yea if they do want to charge for extra voices it sadly makes more sense (in terms of profit) to release the same voice effect 20 times for $10 a pop with different tweaks 😭
Edit: they seriously want to consider $16 for each one? Thats insane... it would only be worth it if you had heavy control over it and even then that feels slightly overpriced. Hopefully they actually LISTEN to the relevant survey and don't price it so high.
Edit 2: Also I strongly suspect this is going to be a massive waste of money for people if it does go live, given that I can see most servers banning the feature (which it shouldn't be an issue with responsible moderation + the ability to tweak the level of effect but you know some moderators rather turn a feature 100% off than actually moderating, even if the server/vc for said server isn't always huge or active)

alien: wobbly effect

I can see how voice filters would be disruptive on public servers but I think they would be a really good addition, I would upgrade to nitro to use them
In public servers probably it would be disabled, knowing how Discord moderate those options
Yeah, depending on how good the feature turns out, I would consider upgrading my basic subscription

Honestly, I'd be down with something like free basic voice changers like stuff that's offered on any mixer and then maybe having paid options that they create every so often. But they'd need to be pretty different, I'm not paying $5.00 for a slightly changed voice that can be found in the EQ settings. Give me a good quality orc voice or a wizard etc that isn't achievable on the dial and it might be worth it.
Oh Discord, if you're watching this and happen to be reading the comments, can you add in a randomizer option for people that have more than a couple avatar and profile decorations? Just allow people to set their favorites from their collection and every time they open Discord it picks randoms from their favorites and can avoid holiday themed decorations if they want. Maybe get cheeky with it and add a dice button that rerolls stuff if people want as well incase they don't like those settings.

About the Following games, im in a few servers from game developers specificaly to get update news and changelog, being able to follow the games might notify you if a game updates, that be relatively neat ^^

Oh no.. With the voice changer, it'll make finding kids and reporting them to Discord via voice will be tougher..
They could do that currently already, but I agree they should make it obvious when you're using it
@@Saroniss 100% They could have a little icon show up next to your username to signal that you're using a voice changer and that it isn't your real voice. It'd solve any problems that arise from scammers or catfishers or people looking to inappropriately use a voice changer.
The way the servey forces you to say yes to one of the voice filter price options is a heavy sign it's not gonna be for free. Oh well.
4:38 I think the follow button is to get notifed of updates of the game (i.e. the feature where you get the messages from an announcement channel of a different server in a channel of your server)
For the people in the comments, the UTTP bots can be reported for child abuse and descriptions of graphic violence without it getting flagged as a false report.

VB cable exists. Fck soundboards and voice changers. I do not need more bloat into an electron.js application, which is already bloated by default.
The rest (except for QoL fixes) are also useless bloat that don't need to be a thing.
Discord should add an effect to make it obvious when someone is using the voice changer, like a rainbow outline version of the microphone icon that shows up similar to when you're muted
speaking of recent discord updates, has anyone else noticed you can't view full profiles just by clicking once if it's longer than 2 sentences?
That search bar just revived a tiny bit of sanity left in half the discord users sanity

YES. I tried using VoiceMod, but that never played well with Discord. So, to have a built-in voice changer would be great for running D&D and the like.
the fact that they put so many features on Nitro nowadays just goes to show how many times Discord will do anything to keep their platform ad-free
The “follow” the game on that page is probs the same as if you follow a specific channel and it’d probs notify you and your server friends on updates for the game. My friends and I like and use it for helldivers 2
Kinda forgot about it, but ever since I got favorites as a feature on mobile (Rare case of A/B testing not sucking ig) I've been wanting it for desktop too

Bro you can get a good extremely customizable voice filter for 5 dollars that is essentially unlimited options. Discord is absolutely insane if they think they'll sell SINGULAR FILTERS for that much.
they could just add a better voice mod compatibility, so you can use it at discord and outside of discord at the same time

I do actually have a search bar in the „start activity“ popup, maybe it’s because I enabled the activity dev mode
I think I'd get a lot of use out of an integrated Voice changer. I used to use Voicemod, but it seemed to make it so no one could hear me if my mic was disconnected and reconnected, so I wound up uninstalling it.

dont forget vencord was not working at all on 1-2 days did discord release a secret update to stop modded clients from working.
You do realize you can add a filter on your mic and then use that virtual device as mic in discord to add any effect...

i just realized how broken ios notifications were. I use an android phone(cry about it) but I use discord on my iPad too. Glad to see it fixed, even if it doesn't matter to me

If they do bring this feature, it'll be problematic for servers that verify people via voice chat. Ideally it'd be nice to be able to block voice changers in server settings.
It is gonna be either good and bad because people will use it to catch creeps BUT creeps will use it to catch people too so that’s what am i saying..
