You can get a $4K 4runner that is far superior offroad to the $40K oversized automatic modern 4runner and this $70K defender (I had a friend with one of those who wouldn't take it offroad for fear of scratching it!). Expensive off-road rigs are poor investments.
I wish people would stop comparing the defender to other cars, it isnt a car, its an offroad machine. Its by far the best offroad vehicle ever made and people wont realise that till they take it to impossible places. Power, electronics and flashy rims doesnt make a car good offroad 10 gears and diff lock does. I am uet to find a car that can compete offroad.

The ones made in the US are the unreliable ones, the ones made here in the UK are extremely reliable, most of them around 25 yrs old and still running fine
@@monkeydui7241 I stand corrected in the way that they were not produced in the US of A but I still stand with my point that land rovers are very reliable as my Grandad owns a series 2 that is over 60yrs old and runs excellently to this day
As owned in the UK by farmers and the ministry of defence. Built to be robust with few moving parts. Never had reliability problems myself, and they are incredible off road.
As an Englishman and Landrover owner, I must say that your video is spot on. All the negativity must be from the 3 other countries that make up Britain. And what do they know.
Hold on... $70K??? I am starting a business importing these from the UK to the US immediately. I’ve seen these for around $3-10K in better condition than the one Doug reviewed. These are everywhere in England...
The US spec defenders have lost of benefits, it’s newer that 25, it has air con, soft top, lower production, v8 engines with automatic, and they weren’t used as utility vehicles for 25 years until you imported it
With regard to reliability, I've had my Td5 for 12 years since new, and had no reliability problems with it. Service them regularly and drive responsibly, and they'll last for ever.
Calling the Defender an SUV is an insult. It's one of the most capable off-road vehicles of all time, not an SUV. It wasn't designed for commuting or family car use. It was designed for crossing deserts and crawling through forests. It's used by the military in several countries.
Having owned an Isuzu Trooper, I can't say why the Defender went up in value, but I am in no doubt as to why the Trooper is worth $80 and a crack rock...
+Ferruzzicati yep so successful that they recently stopped production of all defenders. It looks like they have finally realised that they are absolute shite.
Haha, Jeremy Clarkson and old Top Gear can get away with bashing on iconic American cars, but some American nobody gets disliked for making fun of an iconic British car. :D
+Raymond Soto maybe thats why i dont find a lot of british jokes funny, if theyre too funny, they will get offended, even if theres nothing to be offended about
Donny Donster Because most "iconic" American cars do not perform in the way they are designed to perform. They are slow, badly made, gas guzzling monsters. The defender, despite all its faults, was designed to be an off road car, and is listed to be one of the best off road cars on the planet. It's not designed to be cool or comfortable or fast. It goes anywhere and does anything. Just how it was designed.
+Samlawts When I think iconic American cars, I think Mustang, Corvette, Ford GT, Viper, and Camaro, all of which are great at what they were built for and certainly not slow. And if you're going to defend the Defender, you can't knock other cars for reliability.
One of your better videos, dying laughing right now. Had dinner with David last night, but he was driving his Fire Marshall Bill special, not quite as cool as the Defender.
+Doug DeMuro I wish I could just go buy all the cars all the time! The strobes are still inside the turn signals, I suggested he hook them back up immediately.
Look again, prices have been steadily increasing globally since the end of production. I could sell my MY16 110 tomorrow for $15k more than I paid for it, but I won't because I love it more than anything.
Hi there. I'm from Australia and owned my 1985 County 110 for 21 years. Its never let me down in any serious way. Over the years I've been adding the odd upgrades as its like playing with mechano. First years of ownership I upgraded the radiator, altinator and installed a engine oil cooler to cope with high temperatures. Then installed dif locks, long travel suspension and heavy drive members/axels. Recently I got a fairey overdrive and that's going in soon. Installed a hot water shower heat exchanger with pump. Its one of the most fun 4x4 cars to drive. She's got the 3.5 v8 in it with LPG installed. Without it would be too expensive to run every day.

This British person liked the video.... Never have I managed to work out exactly why these things go for so much money!! They really are nothing special, years ago I used to do a lot of fencing, tree work, clearance etc and we had one landrover which was a brilliant workhorse... But I decided I neede a rough old truck for work so I bought a 1992 swb diesel shogun for £600 ( 1000-1200 dollars ish?!) This did everything the landrover could do, had a better four wheel drive system, air con, adjustable suspension etc. Most importantly of all in the 3 years I had it I changed the starter motor and the alternator!! That was it...... The landrover was in bits at least once a month!!
Yes, we don't care what people think. Having fun everywhere I go, pictures, comments, stories, lol. I'm ported mine and it will stay with me forever. Great review, all so true.
Great review. I loved the defender even though I drove a late model version which was better, it was still a utilitarian off road vehicle. It went places few could. On road it was hard work to drive and slow but it always had a little sparkle to it!!
I have owned defenders for upwards of 18 years. having more than one at the same time. I would love to have another one now. Yes, they are slow, water runs down the pedals and fills up the drivers shoes etc. but I still love them. With a wading kit they can go through very, very deep water. That is fun. Being awful is part of their character, and it is character that counts.
+Fadzli Faudzi Initially it got about 80-100K views, like most of my videos do. Then some British website picked it up and a LOT of British people came in here and got REALLY mad, hence all the dislikes (and all the views). With the sudden increase in traffic TH-cam picked it up and put it on a lot of feeds, and that's where it stands now. I truly expected nobody to watch or care about this video. I was clearly mistaken.
+GraveUypo Hah! It wasn't even intended to be clickbait. I mean, I don't think I said anything really groundbreaking here. But when you insult a British institution...
+Doug DeMuro You're right. British people here hold the Land Rover with the highest regard when it really never deserved it. Although, the Defender you are criticizing here is US spec, and we all know that US spec European cars are shit. They ALL are.
i am not sure what these guys are on about.....What they fail to acknowledge is that it is amazing off-road. reliability? defender is amazingly reliable - the vast majority ever made are STILL on the road decades and decades later. They are easy to repair and they are basic because they are military and agricultural hardware..... They are classless (in a good way), a social leveller. even the Queen of the United Kingdom kicks about in one. This review is sooooo off the mark.
+tomcornwall83 Loads for sale in the UK for exactly that (and less) right now. You would have had to have gone through several generations of inbreeding to pay $70K for one.....
There is one olive green 110 in my town and I swear to god if I mounted green tube on the roof I would fool someone to think that it is a tank. That thing is a beast! I want it so much :(
I'm embarrassed about some of the comments on here by folks from the UK...I live in the UK and have a Defender and personally found the video funny...my Defender is slow, isn't particularly comfortable and doesn't have AC...but I will never sell it and it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. I'm glad it does the same for you. If you've got a pic of yours it would be great to see it. I have a 2001 Defender 110 double cab (which I doubt you ever had in the US). It was a special edition built for the Tomb Raider movie and there are now only 60 or so of them left.

Don’t be upset with his review of the D90, he speaks the truth & absolutely nails it in his summary- “Defender people; they don’t really care what you think.” We REALLY don’t 😁 You’re awesome Doug, I’m still a huge fan & still own one of these glorious old pain in the ass vehicles- lol

in england, theyre mainly used by farmers and those who live in villages and rural areas. without shiny paint, nice interiors and good off-roading, theyre a versatile machine. Of course, they hold their value too so a stone hitting it or a brush from a bush wont require it going into a garage from an insurance jobby. On roads, cities, towns, america, their price doesnt do it justice. In england; cornwall, devon, theyre loved.
+Doug DeMuro Doug is right. hiddencityphila.org/2013/07/planning-the-future-of-philadelphias-other-big-ship/ Just kidding. But here's a nice writeup on it.
Defender people absolutely care what you think. That's why it has to look cool. For that price and all you things you don't get, they have to "claim" not to care. Because it's part of the "looking cool" aspect.
That final comment is so true.Once you've driven a Defender or even a "series" Landrover, they get in your blood.Noisey, slow, unreliable, uncomfortable but a bloody good laugh and full of character
My dad had a 95 LWB defender with the updated international 2.8 diesel in it, lifted with 33' tyres and no luxuries specified on it whatsoever. It was still a great car, I drove it every opportunity I got.
The DEFENDER as named is a military spec vehicle. It's squaddy proof . Built to last not for comfort or speed. In the UK you regularly see farmers with 40 year old landies doin the rounds. Typical Murkins .
Too bad their i4 cylinder motors can't handle big tires. Jeeps be running circles around the damn thing and that's just an XJ Cherokee, don't get me going 'bout the even more superior wrangler.
Nepsitecoverland whilst from the perspective of "it's like the Duracell Bunny" or "Christine" the star of the 1977 horror movie ... The Toyota HiLux just can't be stopped (anyone who wants to be overwhelmed by the amount of car-killing stunts that any vehicle can sustain - anyone who has not yet seen it go watch the BBC Top Gear programme on TH-cam), I would still say Land Rovers of any type pretty much are the best 4x4s and at or near the top of the pile. As for "performance" I'd say they are measuring the wrong damned thing. 4x4 performance is measured not in speed, torque or acceleration but in what you can actually manage to pull out of the crap ... There are countless TH-cam videos of Defenders, Range Rovers, Discoverys (yes that IS correct English) more commonly referred to as Discos (because of all the fun you can have in them) pulling trucks and artics (US:Semis) out of mud, snow, uphill, off roundabouts, fully loaded etc. !!! THAT'S performance AND reliability WAY beyond what they were ever designed to do. All the other epithets however are true. Besides, if you want cheap off road comfort and almost the same competence (compared to a Defender anyway) 😋 buy a Range Rover! 😁😁😁
Jeep people don't really care that you have a defender. It's cool but I don't think it's cooler than a Jeep. It's just a rare vehicle in the US, and that is the only it has going for it.
I laugh at slow overpriced Jeeps struggling along at 10mph over 'rough' terrain as a blaze by them in my Pinzgauer 710K at 3x their speed. Defender? I never see those off road... too spendy.
Greg Pitts Either that or a series 3 from the 70s, classic or modern, but I wouldn't go near the mid 90s one in the video, totally the wrong era of Land Rover for me.
+Alfred Munkenbeck we've had a series two and a series 3 and they didnt realy compare to the td5 the 2.25 engines are gutless and barely move it allthough the series are worth alot more and are more iconic id rather stick to my td5
Greg Pitts I know what you mean, I've driven both, but I've got something else for proper driving, the Land Rover would just be for a bit of fun. If that weren't the case though, some of the late Defenders are properly useable things day to day, I'd get one of them easily.
This is one dumb vehicle, in Kenya they're scattered all over the country after the government dumped them in 2003. But the thing can go through a horrific accident and come out unscathed, though we can't say the same about its passagers.
The sneer when he says 180 bhp. If only the car culture in the US wasn't predicated on only liking cars with engines that have power outputs similar to a power station, or the fuel economy of a bus, then maybe the air quality might be better, or the drain on resources not as high.
I'm British.i think it depends on which model.some Land Rovers are bad I'll admit it.but i do think you were a bit harsh.also you buy parts and put one together yourself for a cheap cost, and because your making it you can personalise it.I know a person who has a 1986 4 cylinder Land Rover and although the locks don't work properly and you can see the road through holes in the chassis and their loud and cold they have personality to keep going and never give up.(also if you get the right model they can go fast for their size)there also very reliable and simple it takes 10 minutes to convert it from a pick up to having the rear panels attached and a whole roof on.try doing that in 10 minutes with a wrangler.
I have owned a Land rover Discovery 3 and I must admit when it broke down for the second time on the side of the m62 all I could was laugh thinking why the hell didn't I keep my 2002 Toyota camry it was way better in every single way and never once went wrong.
My car mechanic has a 130" Land Rover with 4 Seats and a metal roofed cabin. In the back there is a fabric covered cargo area twice as big as the one on this "shorter" version. If you have the version with the big metal roof you can basically sleep in there. I just love it.
My mom had one of these when i was little, we had 70 minutes of road to get to school and 7 month of snow, so 110 minutes of road twice a day for 7 month/year, i was 8 and screwed like four planks between the back seats to make myself a bed (because getting up a 4 am kinda kills you at that age) and slept every school day in this on a bumpy road for a solid 8 years, now i'm 25 and i can sleep ANYWHERE, noise, light, smell, nothing disturbs me, thanks Defender for enriching my life ...

those defenders do have lockers though, kudos to them, wont find that on any stock 4runner, plus it has solid axles
Are you guys serious? The Defender has earned it's reputation for being unbeatable off-road
I wish people would stop comparing the defender to other cars, it isnt a car, its an offroad machine. Its by far the best offroad vehicle ever made and people wont realise that till they take it to impossible places. Power, electronics and flashy rims doesnt make a car good offroad
10 gears and diff lock does. I am uet to find a car that can compete offroad.
Doug is a master at getting channel views. I've watched hours and hours of his videos not because I like them, but because I've been trying to find one that doesn't make me cringe a little bit at the awkwardness and crappy humor. . . . I've only furthered the cause.
Bravo Mr. DeMuro, you've won.
I have subscribed.
For $70,000 does it come with an UNLIMITED MILEAGE BUMPER TO BUMPER FACTORY WARRANTY?
+Mopar And More ... it comes with its own trunk monkey mechanic lolz
Reliability? *hahahahahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahha!*
All is depending the model.
That's the USS John F Kennedy. Aircraft carrier. I served on it. It's docked in Philadelphia.
+jesse foulk thanks, I was asking myself; where is that?
i live in the uk, own a defender 90, owned it for 7 years and not a single thing has gone wrong with it, i could depend on it more than my own heart.
All of the salt the English have towards this video was keepover from the Indian salt crisis.
+Michael Tarantino what a stupid thing to say
+Andrew Phillips you can say that again
+Andrew Phillips Indeed.
It's satire. Get over it.
Gold! XD
Laughing hard when the "reliability" part came on @4:14 : )
The ones made in the US are the unreliable ones, the ones made here in the UK are extremely reliable, most of them around 25 yrs old and still running fine
@Ask Computers OFFICIAL I don’t think they were ever made in the US were they?
@@monkeydui7241 I stand corrected in the way that they were not produced in the US of A but I still stand with my point that land rovers are very reliable as my Grandad owns a series 2 that is over 60yrs old and runs excellently to this day
As owned in the UK by farmers and the ministry of defence.
Built to be robust with few moving parts.
Never had reliability problems myself, and they are incredible off road.
I love 'em. And they ARE good across rough terrain. And because they're NOT full of unnecessary stuff, you can fix 'em simply.
That's great because they are always broken. The parts are only going to be available in the uk, they just aren't available anywhere else.
The US spec defenders have lost of benefits, it’s newer that 25, it has air con, soft top, lower production, v8 engines with automatic, and they weren’t used as utility vehicles for 25 years until you imported it
Uk defenders are still cheap lol it's only us spec defenders that are $70k
Why's everyone so mad? Did any of you watch the entire video?
i think they missed that he actually likes the car
well they do need watch it to know the main anger
Jeep owners are a surly bunch.
It must be worth 70k for the bumper to bumper warranty. right ?
With regard to reliability, I've had my Td5 for 12 years since new, and had no reliability problems with it.
Service them regularly and drive responsibly, and they'll last for ever.
His laugh sounds like the one by mike posner in the beginning of I took a pill in Ibiza seeb remix
Jesus... that ship in the back is HUGE!!!
+Arrtus TV Carrier from the looks of it. Can't tell which one though. Definitely not in active commission.
+citadelpariah Yep, USS. John F. Kennedy
I'm British and I laughed so hard, tea went up my nose.
Wow they're expensive in the states! You can get a pretty nice one here in the UK for £5,000. :)
+TheCarGuy18 was about to say, they're absolutely everywhere
+Bad Santa Funny that because in the UK Australia isn't highly regarded.;)
+TheCarGuy18 business opportunity
+TheCarGuy18 $59000 in Canada for 97-99 years.
So its a offroad Delorean^^
lol
+FullFledged2010 you've heard the term "going nowhere fast"? this is going nowhere slowly....
+Ferruzzicati yep so successful that they recently stopped production of all defenders. It looks like they have finally realised that they are absolute shite.
They are making a new defender in the next couple of years
+Ferruzzicati A 911 today isn't exactly overpriced nor unreliably ;)
Haha, Jeremy Clarkson and old Top Gear can get away with bashing on iconic American cars, but some American nobody gets disliked for making fun of an iconic British car. :D
+Donny Donster The British can't take jokes.
+Raymond Soto maybe thats why i dont find a lot of british jokes funny, if theyre too funny, they will get offended, even if theres nothing to be offended about
+Raymond Soto I think you meant "The British can't take the truth"
Donny Donster Because most "iconic" American cars do not perform in the way they are designed to perform. They are slow, badly made, gas guzzling monsters.
The defender, despite all its faults, was designed to be an off road car, and is listed to be one of the best off road cars on the planet. It's not designed to be cool or comfortable or fast. It goes anywhere and does anything. Just how it was designed.
+Samlawts
When I think iconic American cars, I think Mustang, Corvette, Ford GT, Viper, and Camaro, all of which are great at what they were built for and certainly not slow.
And if you're going to defend the Defender, you can't knock other cars for reliability.
Now you can pick one up for 80 bucks and a crack rock
One of your better videos, dying laughing right now. Had dinner with David last night, but he was driving his Fire Marshall Bill special, not quite as cool as the Defender.
+John Winstead I'm jealous you got to check it out! I want to do a video on basically every car he has ever owned, bought, driven, Instagrammed, etc.
+Doug DeMuro I wish I could just go buy all the cars all the time! The strobes are still inside the turn signals, I suggested he hook them back up immediately.
+Doug DeMuro Funny video Doug! :)
I'm more curious about how that ship in the back stays upright...
+Pheer777 Physics
me too lol
+Pheer777 'Murica! That's how.
buoyancy
I thought she was a singer
It costs around one tenth of the price here in Australia
in europe too
in europe too
Look again, prices have been steadily increasing globally since the end of production. I could sell my MY16 110 tomorrow for $15k more than I paid for it, but I won't because I love it more than anything.
In Costa Rica you can pick one with $10.000 and a good example with $15.000.
you can buy a car in much better condition than the car in the video in the UK for £5,000 xD
But does it come with unlimited mileage bumper to bumper warranty?
You'd need one, knowing Land Rover. Your only option for that is probably CarMax, but with CarMax with CarMax the warranty is usually only up to 6 years/100,000 - 125,000 miles. If only CarMax offered unlimited mileage warranties.
*long dialog alert*
Bobby CarMax: Wassup my homie?
Johnny Bob CarMax: I have to tell you something about this guy named, uh, Steve DeDefender? Dodge Banana?George DeQuarterPanel? No...Doug Defender? Steve Jobs? John DeMuro. Wait..Doug DeMuro!
BC: Didn't he buy the Aston with the warranty (not from us) and the Range Rover from us that keeps breaking?
JBC: Yeah, no, wasn't it John DeDefenderRestorer? Wait, it was Doug DeMuro.
BC: What about that Truck DeTrailer guy?
JBC: Doug DeMuro. Anyways, I heard he burrowed a friend's Land Rover Defender.
BC: God...did he look for one on our site?
JBC: Who knows...
BC: We gotta make sure he doesn't come buy 50 Defenders with warranties. We'll go bankrupt within a week. And it's bad for Doug DeDefender too, because then we can't fix his '06 Range Rover. GO! LOCK THE DOORS!
Doug: (thinking) I see 516 Defenders from CarMax nationwide. I'll have them ship them all to my local CarMax (note: I don't know where Doug's local CarMax is) and I'll buy them all! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!
JBC: I see him coming, I locked the doors thank god.
BC: Wait, he has a...a...a...a, uh, a box...he just broke the darn glass.
JBC: **activates alarms** Everybody! The building is on lockdown! Everybody stay put! Doug DeMuro came in!
Doug: I didn't actually want to buy 516 Defenders.
JBC and BC: Thank god.
Doug: But...
JBC and BC: For crying out load.
Doug: I need my air suspension repaired.
JBC and BC: Call the police!
Because it's cool!!
i agree with you but it’s not my dream car i like smart car
Wow never thought I'd find a comment from Street speed 5 years ago
@@Buschfanforlife333 Well you found it!
5,000 British people saw this video
+Nick Only 5000 angry Brits, I personally loved this video and I own a defender XD
This British person liked the video.... Never have I managed to work out exactly why these things go for so much money!!
They really are nothing special, years ago I used to do a lot of fencing, tree work, clearance etc and we had one landrover which was a brilliant workhorse... But I decided I neede a rough old truck for work so I bought a 1992 swb diesel shogun for £600 ( 1000-1200 dollars ish?!)
This did everything the landrover could do, had a better four wheel drive system, air con, adjustable suspension etc.
Most importantly of all in the 3 years I had it I changed the starter motor and the alternator!!
That was it......
The landrover was in bits at least once a month!!
Gill Bates I'm British and I live this Vids
Gill Bates Cup of tea mate.
Yes, we don't care what people think. Having fun everywhere I go, pictures, comments, stories, lol. I'm ported mine and it will stay with me forever. Great review, all so true.
Last sentence, spot on mate. We dont care what you think.
Good job Doug.....ya got humorless Brits yapping like Yorkies. Hilarious.
So basically, this video could have been 30 seconds long
Great review.
Which is why I'd rather have a 1997 Jeep instead of a 1997 Land Rover.
How does this video get so many views in just over a week?
+Fadzli Faudzi Initially it got about 80-100K views, like most of my videos do. Then some British website picked it up and a LOT of British people came in here and got REALLY mad, hence all the dislikes (and all the views). With the sudden increase in traffic TH-cam picked it up and put it on a lot of feeds, and that's where it stands now. I truly expected nobody to watch or care about this video. I was clearly mistaken.
+Doug DeMuro you hit a nerve there. that's good clickbait
+Doug DeMuro do you know which website it was? they seem to have sent a lot of angry people but its ok because they leave funny comments
Ok i lost it when he laughed at the reliability lol. I like this guy's reviews, i subscribed....
i am not sure what these guys are on about.....What they fail to acknowledge is that it is amazing off-road. reliability? defender is amazingly reliable - the vast majority ever made are STILL on the road decades and decades later. They are easy to repair and they are basic because they are military and agricultural hardware..... They are classless (in a good way), a social leveller. even the Queen of the United Kingdom kicks about in one. This review is sooooo off the mark.
These were made for farmers in the UK they're not meant to be luxury cars. Why you would pay that much for them in the US i will never understand.
+Fraser Hughes Murica
+Fraser Hughes because 50% of this country is retarded.
+Fraser Hughes That Landy would be what? £8k to £10k in the UK?
+tomcornwall83 Time to start buying them up and exporting them to the U.S :o
+tomcornwall83 Loads for sale in the UK for exactly that (and less) right now. You would have had to have gone through several generations of inbreeding to pay $70K for one.....
There is one olive green 110 in my town and I swear to god if I mounted green tube on the roof I would fool someone to think that it is a tank. That thing is a beast! I want it so much :(
lamebubblesflysohigh i have a metallic blue one in central oregon and it is minty.... Absolutely a beautiful machine.
DC Defender it's a crossover between a tractor and a car (seriously that was the original design) so it's not meant to be fast or comfortable.
You might get some folks to think it is an anti-tank missile carrier, perhaps.
@@anthonykaiser974 do you mean a bit like one of these? goo.gl/images/BK3VSE Not an anti-tank missile carrier per se but an anti tank gun (howitzer?). Doesnt that count?
There's not much that hasn't been strapped, bolted, welded or fabricobbled onto Defenders over the years and it can cope with just about anything you throw on it.
I still see SOO many old land rovers on the road still.. from the 70's, 80's and 90's
Don’t be upset with his review of the D90, he speaks the truth & absolutely nails it in his summary- “Defender people; they don’t really care what you think.” We REALLY don’t 😁
You’re awesome Doug, I’m still a huge fan & still own one of these glorious old pain in the ass vehicles- lol
proud isuzu trooper driver here
I'm sure your vehicle was worth every bit of $80 and a crack rock! lol
Can't beat a Trooper,F**k this guy...,,
I love a trooper, I had a trooper 2 and it was absolutely a fun drive because you had no worries about hurtin that thing, I’ve gone places in that, that people in jeeps and big diesel trucks got stuck in here in Wyoming, I now own a 1987 Jeep Cherokee and it had the trooper feel not as tall and more powerful, only thing I really liked about the trooper was height and clearance
acura SLX over here
in england, theyre mainly used by farmers and those who live in villages and rural areas. without shiny paint, nice interiors and good off-roading, theyre a versatile machine. Of course, they hold their value too so a stone hitting it or a brush from a bush wont require it going into a garage from an insurance jobby. On roads, cities, towns, america, their price doesnt do it justice. In england; cornwall, devon, theyre loved.
He's personally responsible for increasing the value of this rust buckets , brand new its a quarter of the value , appreciation doesn't work like that
I just wanna know which aircraft carrier that is
+still_guns It's the USS John F Kennedy:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_John_F._Kennedy_(CV-67)
+still_guns U.S.S. Forrestal?
+Doug DeMuro Doug is right. hiddencityphila.org/2013/07/planning-the-future-of-philadelphias-other-big-ship/ Just kidding. But here's a nice writeup on it.
Defender people absolutely care what you think. That's why it has to look cool. For that price and all you things you don't get, they have to "claim" not to care. Because it's part of the "looking cool" aspect.
Does it come with bumper-to-bumper warranty?
if the bumpers fall off, is there still a warranty?
*snaps* Made ya think!
Mr. BrewThatStew. Great name.
+theoneanton Good point. No bumper? No warranty, you reckless maniac.
Aidan Sweeney Oh you... :)
That final comment is so true.Once you've driven a Defender or even a "series" Landrover, they get in your blood.Noisey, slow, unreliable, uncomfortable but a bloody good laugh and full of character
It's the fact u can fix this car with a hammer and a wrench on a muddy field that makes this car so valuable
funny I can just drive my jeep through a muddy field with out fixing it.
4:14 LMAO
Can't Wait When You Do the 2020 Defender 90 and 110 ASAP.
My dad had a 95 LWB defender with the updated international 2.8 diesel in it, lifted with 33' tyres and no luxuries specified on it whatsoever. It was still a great car, I drove it every opportunity I got.
"80 bucks and a crackrock" !!! hahahahahaha
The DEFENDER as named is a military spec vehicle. It's squaddy proof . Built to last not for comfort or speed. In the UK you regularly see farmers with 40 year old landies doin the rounds. Typical Murkins .
Mechanically ill go for Toyota........ :)
Little did Doug know that this would be his car someday
Or just buy a UAZ Hunter.
Haha.....
If it's not more expensive - it does not cut it.
+Ian A. Nah Snatch Land Rover 2A Armoured defender 110 is where its at
The only way to stay safe in america with all the gun violence.
+toby Hogan CAV - Composite Armoured Vehicle... A nice V8 petrol engine.... Top heavy...
A wolf is much better.
Or get shotgun, my car didn't put down home invader at 4am
Our neighbor owned 3 at one time. Stayed in the shop & very expensive to maintain.
Why do they go for so much? 3:45 ...that sound. That's why.
Im here from 2023, the genius of doug is that his videos age like fone wine
This is funny! Makes me proud and happy to be a Defender owner!
Jeep people don't really care that you have a defender. It's cool but I don't think it's cooler than a Jeep. It's just a rare vehicle in the US, and that is the only it has going for it.
Jonathan Bridges some jeeps are shit though
I laugh at slow overpriced Jeeps struggling along at 10mph over 'rough' terrain as a blaze by them in my Pinzgauer 710K at 3x their speed. Defender? I never see those off road... too spendy.
Ha, I'm looking at buying one this summer, trying to get together a budget of around $10,000. That's right, I live in England.
+Alfred Munkenbeck get a td5 fucking brilliant things
Greg Pitts Either that or a series 3 from the 70s, classic or modern, but I wouldn't go near the mid 90s one in the video, totally the wrong era of Land Rover for me.
+Alfred Munkenbeck Yeah, but we have Wranglers.
Is this the first “this”?
Yea lol
Pissed off Brits everywhere LOL.
jarupongch I have been scrolling through the comment section I'm and I haven't found a single one :/
Nah we realise the old ones are shit, we've all got 2004 onwards models which are superb
Fat Twat Fare You haven’t scrolled enough
$80 AND a crack rock? I'm not giving up my crack rock.
laughing my fucking ass offf!!!!!
100k? this is stupid. In other countries they sell for like $10-$15 in perfect shape. Just import one.
They can't. Why? MURICA!
They have stupid inportregulations. Unlike we in europe.
Difficult as has to be a certain age and naspec
Car had to be 25 year old to be imported
Has*
I got one for $3000 in Peru lol
4:12 I can assure you is how I feel
Absolutely fantastic videos Doug. Thanks for putting the time and effort into such good content, keep it up.
cost $70,000 . worth $70,000 ? NO
+DENMONKEY If its not SCOTTISH its CRAP!!!
I don't know how to respond to that :) U Do It Contracting
quite simply the best vehicle ever built
*worst* your comment was broken, no worries though, I fixed it.
I have owned a Land rover Discovery 3 and I must admit when it broke down for the second time on the side of the m62 all I could was laugh thinking why the hell didn't I keep my 2002 Toyota camry it was way better in every single way and never once went wrong.
This is coming from a British guy aswell, they are built like Crap aswell always something wrong.
My car mechanic has a 130" Land Rover with 4 Seats and a metal roofed cabin. In the back there is a fabric covered cargo area twice as big as the one on this "shorter" version.
If you have the version with the big metal roof you can basically sleep in there.
I just love it.
