I had a POS Mercury Sable that I drove for 7 years or so. It took me though college, through a coding boot camp, and to my dream job. It was slow and unreliable but it took me on many adventures and through some sketchy situations. When I got my new car, I was more upset about my old POS leaving than excited about my new car. I still have my first car and I'll never sell it.
Doug is the type of guy to TELL you his Land Rover is unreliable, even to the point of the color beinig named for that fact, WHILE he's tryinig to sell the same Defender! Love you, Doug!
It's probably too late but you will regret this tremendously. I sold my Defender 90 pick-up a few years ago for the exact same reasons - too many cars, not using it enough, kid on the way, seasons in life, can always get another one. Yeah, I'm still kicking myself. Every. Single. Day. 😭😭😭😭
I understand that people love the experience, but personally I would completely restore and restomod it. Keep the design 100% original because I love it and the open top untouched and redo everything else down to the bolt! An entire new rollcage would also be on the upgrade list for sure. It would cost a fortune, but it would be a topless Classic Defender with incredible reliability and good enough handling and safety. That would be the experience I would look for when purchasing something like this.
The money from selling this doesn’t change anything for you, why not just put it in storage for later, drive it once in a while, even not being a collector.. this was special for you. But you’ve made your decision, just hope it was the right one!
They are material possessions at the end of the day. I love to keep everything I have from my first car the BMW 525i from 2004 but when something negative happens in your life, none of these will matter. I didn’t have the time to maintain multiple cars and work so I do get your point. Let someone else enjoy it.
I would say l'm more like you than a collector. I have 17 cars at the moment, each one was bought to drive. In the early 90s l wanted the four door Defender, l told a friend of mine and he said why don't l buy his Bronco. I was Godsmacked! A 1968 unmolested V-8 manual with 68k miles that he bought new. I still have it. I did change it from a 3 on the tree to a 6 speed, added vintage air and a bunch of insulation under the rubber mat. Like your Defender the Bronco has been involved in many wonderful adventures so l understand your sentiment and reason for selling it. I own vintage Ferraris and Lamborghinis but driving a topless 4x4 on the beach is every bit as exhilarating

good times when this Defender crushed that shity Audi Allroad
Doug is the type of guy to TELL you his Land Rover is unreliable, even to the point of the color beinig named for that fact, WHILE he's tryinig to sell the same Defender! Love you, Doug!
It's probably too late but you will regret this tremendously. I sold my Defender 90 pick-up a few years ago for the exact same reasons - too many cars, not using it enough, kid on the way, seasons in life, can always get another one. Yeah, I'm still kicking myself. Every. Single. Day. 😭😭😭😭
Fun little truck. Like all rovers: expensive piece of junk.
Doug is a type of guy who tests his wife's quirks and features.
Ngl I'll be more upset if Doug sold the G wagon, cause the G wagon is more... Dougy lolol
Doug - I'm not a collector
Countach, GT, Carrera, G cab - what
I understand that people love the experience, but personally I would completely restore and restomod it.
Dougs the type of guy to turn 60 on his 35th birthday.....
As a senior in high school I lusted after a 1994 Land Rover Defender 90 soft top in that exact color.
Man with a Lamborghini Countach and a Porsche Carrera GT simplifies life by selling his SUV. Maybe the proceeds will go to a new mic cable.
DOUG PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GET A NEW MIC YOU ARE A MILLIONAIRE I AM BEGGING YOU
To summarize: It all boils down to what the wife wants, and no matter how Doug sugarcoats it, the real reason will always be clear!
I understand what you're saying Doug.. if you want to have fun and have fun things in your life.. DON'T HAVE KIDS! got-ya... ! NO kids for me!
Your like most gear heads.....buy it, modify it, make it perfect, get tired of it....sell it at a loss. That's why I got out of this game. I couldnt afford it. But you can.
answer is wife ... looks like she more like Mercedes G wagon of two ... 😆😁 but i will not wonder if that G wagon will go eventually 😂 ... she most likely is not a car person ... 😂
No way!!! There’s no way you won’t regret selling this!! Long live the Defender
As a Land Rover fan, I suppose I have a bias for it over the G Cabriolet but it sounds like because the Defender was a Doug car, the G Wagon was very much more of your personal pick for owning, and I'm glad to see at least one of these will continue to carry on the heart and soul of quirky cars that we remember best from this channel :)
The fact he kept calling his truck a car he deserves to not have it. Actually he does it all the time, literally calling trucks he reviews "cars" like he's Australian. He deserves his ev that he thinks is so capable, and lives in the worst state in America. Lol yep I'm a hater
Last couple of videos i detect some kind of problem with your microphone... Check that 😅
This video is so long because he had to convince himself he was making the riggt decision.
The surname face is Italian I allow myself to write a few words. IN AMERICA USA there is not so much memory the houses the palaces are built but also knocked down...
For that, which concerns the defender as owner I have one and I have known the success on youtube because it was talking about land rover.
What to say I met many gentlemen who had one and then sold moral point .
But the question is another for those who know how to repair the vehicle is another story ... greetings from Italy
What about the “Luke’s” spare tire cover? Gilmore Girl geeks need to know!!!!
A very similar (but with less mileage) yellow soft top Defender just sold on another auction site for $106k
Time to move on Doug. This will be replaced by something else spectacular.😢😅❤
I mean cool, we can get these in the UK for 500 quid, and a good one for.....maybe 4 or 5 K
Then how do u explain the other vehicles that u have …if ur not a collector!! I think u should keep the yellow and sell the Benz
