Interesting manoeuvre at 2:18 -- un-subdivide and then subdivision surface, I guess the effect is to make the mesh triangulation less... 'level'? I don't know how to say it, thanks great tutorial!

I'm using blender 3.0 and the rotate face is not visible. How should we deal with it? (15:35) and Animation function works only in 2.80. It doesn't work on 2.9, 3.0.(21:33) This plug-in is not compatible with blender 3.0. Animation does not work in blender 2.93. In blender 2.80 it works fine. Hey Alessandro, great work man, I've been having trouble rendering the animation itself. I have the Animatable checkbox checked and the mesh refreshes automatically after I press play, however when I render the animation, the mesh stays put and it doesn't move. Is my computer too slow that blender gave up rendering it or did I miss something? Thx man

@@steade in the latest version that you can find on GitHub, there is an option called "Tissue Render Animation". It's basically a turnaround script that iteratively change the frame and save a new render as image. It doesn't support direct video rendering, but it should work fine with image sequences. I recommend opening the terminal before in order to see clearly the progress. Since it doesn't show the render window as usual
Hi Alessandro, love the plugin! I'm following this tutorial step by step (i'm in the 4th try now), but for some reason 'patch' (around 6 minutes in the vid) doesnt seem to work. Atleast, it doesnt change anything. Don't really know what to do.. I'm using a blend build from may 14th. Maybe you can suggest an idea? Happy to provide more info if necessary.
Okay, so I updated Tissue to the latest version and now it is working! In the proces of fixing my issue I also found out that Tissue is not working on the latest 2.80 build (22/05). Again, thank you for the great plugin, having a lot of fun with it!
@@boudewyn yes, it's not working with the latest build, because some API has been changed. Trying to updating it I found some bugs in the API that makes impossible to make it working 100%. I'm waiting for some fixes in Blender API ... :-/
2 Questions: Where do the big squares come from when you hit Optimal Display? When you say: "The last Sub Surface is defining the patches" What do you mean with patches?
1. They represent the topology of the faces before the subdivision surface, but adapted and curved according to the subdivision. 2. I use "Patch" for describing such "curved faces". There is no an official definition for that in Blender so I decided to use that name.

Hey Alessandro, do you have a workaround for animating vertex proximity weight modifier (an animated secondary object moves closer and further away to affect the vertex weight) on the base geometry which is driving shape key geometry of the tesselation. Every new frame I use with the animatable tab selected I have to reassign the vertex group and also the shape key value? I have tried to add the vertex proximity modifier directly on to the tessellated geometry, but, no luck, in this scenario tissue only recognises the vertex map once I bake the modifier. Any ideas on how to overcome this issue? THANKS IN ADVANCE!!
Hi Irina, I think you are working on something extremely heavy. How many polygons do you have in your scene? I suggest starting with few subdivisions in the SubdivisionSurface and increase gradually.

The tessellation deletes it every time. If you material is in the component then it should be used correctly in every frame.

Hi Pooria1998, unfortunately the option doesn't work when doing "Render Animation". I had to disable that in order to prevent crashes... I'm still trying to fix that problem, but in the meanwhile, in the development version of Tissue I removed this switch behaviour: github.com/alessandro-zomparelli/tissue/tree/b280-dev (you will also find many changes in the UI and a couple of new options). For the moment the only way is to use "Viewport Render Animation" :-(
Hey Alessandro Thank you so much for this tutorial. I am running into some minor problems with rendering. I can render completely using the Viewport Render option. However, the traditional rendering option kicks off the Animatable Button each time. and I have to end rendering, turn animatable back on, and hit refresh to reset the animation. In Eevee this is just fine! But I am trying to run a Cycles Render, and the viewport option doesn't work for rendering cycles (at least I cant get it on my computer to work) but each time I render a frame by the regular render port option, it kicks off animatable. Please help?? This is for a mathematical Olympiad please :) I am a HUGE fan of all your work!!!
Hi Chad, thank you. Unfortunately I haven't figured out yet how to render animations without having crashes. This "uncheck" behaviour was introduced for safety reasons. Now with the latest development version it doesn't disable the Animatable option, but it will not update during the rendering of the animation. A possible turnaround could be to create a script that automatically change the frame, render and save the frame as image...

Good stuff, but i have some problem, when try rendering this composition all time my client crash(in eevve and cycle same problem) and when load my save file i need reclick "animatable" cause scene dont changed on timeline. Thanks, Louis, I used the decimate in order to have a topology oriented diagonally, in order to get a spiral directionality for the components.

Yes you are right. Is a known issue. I haven't solved yet. For the moment you should render animations from the viewport... Sorry
