Also, do not ask “is that real?” This so rude, it might be a very cheap knock-off, or a very expensive precious-material piece, either way, it’s not anyone else’s business. I was once approached by a stranger on the street who wanted to know what my bag cost, I was floored. It was only a decent leather bag, not a designer one, or expensive. One time, an acquaintance asked me at a restaurant dinner “is that a diamond watch!?”. I was so embarrassed in front of a lot of people. Some people save for years for, or inherit, a nice item, some wear inexpensive look-alikes, so what? I think this is a mostly-American, very tacky thing. I can say that, I’m American.
I had plenty of embarrassing moments outside the US, though. I own amber jewelry, and several times people said how nice it looked- "almost like the real stuff". Well, it IS real amber, that's why. Same for my gold bangles. "Only" 14ct, but real enough. ;-) I always smiled graciously and said, "It _should_ look real, because it IS." - People need to stop after, "Ooh, how pretty." ;-) :-D
IMO it’s perfectly fine to ask someone what their bag or jewelry, etc costs. Maybe they like it and want to buy it for themselves. I have no issue telling ppl how much something costs, it’s nothing to be embarrassed about.
Unfortunate situation! on personal thought, I do not see shame on wearing man created stones or cubic zirconia/swarovski crystals or custom jewelry. If you love a piece, brings you happiness or memories from a dear one, cheap or expensive and suits you, wear it with pride and love. As annoying an impolite that question you were asked is, if it happens again just reply what it is quickly and graciously and change the subject of the conversation to deviate the attention from it. Unfortunately not everyone has prudence or manners.
Just don't wear / use Branded fake items. 🤭 it's just a no no. If want use original or high class items, use original brands that one can afford as long it's not fake.

The founder of the Bulgari brand is Sotirios Voulgaris was actually greek. He was born in March 1857 and came from the Epirus Village of Paramythia, the center of silversmithing in the Balkans. . In 1881, Sotirios Bulgari moved to Rome and, in 1884, opened his first store on via Sistina 85. In 1905, he unveiled the Via Condotti shop that would become the company's flagship. In its early years, Bulgari was known for silver pieces that borrowed elements from Byzantine and Islamic art, later he was turned to Art Deco.
I went to Bulgari Jewelry store last week, the sales associate told me that he went to Italy for a biz trip. The most Bulgari jewelry sale in No.1 county is Singapore , and 2nd county is Japan. Thank you for sharing this necessary information about Jewelry Etiquette. The women improved themselves and improve living standards.🎉

Very interesting. I agree with you in everything and would like to add one thought: In the Corona period with masks and frequent hand washing, I do not take rings and earrings outside of the home. Brooches, (very pretty with cashmere sweaters or in combination with a plain-colored blouse) are making a comeback.
What I love about being South Asian is all the beautiful bold jewelry. I own way more than I ever need haha I have an obnoxious collection. I always have a gold chain and a diamond nosepin on with the idea that even if I ever run out of time and I have to get dressed and leave, I still have something on!
I love nothing more than a few strands of perfectly matched Mikimoto pearls. Where I live in the South, a girl’s first fine jewelry is often a strand of pearls given to her by her father on her birthday. If they belonged to her grandmother even better. Then her husband will give her a double strand or a pair of pearl earrings for her wedding.
Yes, you are so right. Here In France it's almost the same tradition in upper class families : at the age of 16, the daughter receives her fist pearl necklace, and 2 pearl ear studs as well. When she's grown-up, parents of spouses will indeed add more; One things always remains true : you can never go wrong with a pearl necklace and ear studs, whatever the time of day and activity, and you keep elegant from 16 ... to 106 ! Also did you know that thieves are not keen on stealing pearl jewels ? They'll steal all the rest, diamonds, etc.. but will avoid pearls, because there's a superstition among them that it will bring bad luck , " the bad eye/ le mauvais oeil" onto them !
@@clementineclement5757 Make sense since we’re of French heritage. Louisiana is the only part of the US that has the Napoleonic code for our legal system unlike the rest of the country.

I loved this video so much because I have been growing my interest in earrings and diamonds. As an Indian, we wear very heavy jewellery for special occassions but I always follow only stacking 2 areas (like neck and wrist, or ears and fingers) as you mentioned!
Thank you Jamila. It was interesting as always. Like you, I enjoy a more coherent look. I do not mix yellow and white gold, and I like to wear matching pieces from the same set together. It was new information to me that you should only wear 1 pearl piece at a time. When I got my pearls, I chose earing and a necklace that match so that I would wear them together. Had I known this before, I might have not limited myself to buying matching pieces only.
Jamila, you look absolutely lovely! The dress, shoes, makeup and jewels look so exquisite on you. I feel this will inspire my wedding rehearsal look. But in all white - I feel like white women in black, and black women in white is just beautiful. Beautiful contrasts.

I disagree about pearls, my favorite. I wear small pearl earrings with a simple pearl necklace all the time. All my pearl items are already “cut with” yellow gold elements, such as visible findings, beads or station-link chains, and are small and understated, even adding a simple pearl and gold bracelet is fine. I don’t like layers of those big, traditional “pearl” strands, though, it’s outdated. I used to buy white gold because my pro color analyst insisted, but I never enjoyed it, so I switched to yellow and am much happier with it. Now I want to replace my white gold items. I say, go with what you love, jewelry mistakes are so expensive!
I love your video and sharing. Do you have any suggestions on how to organise your jewelleries that looks classy? Or at least look elegant on the display at home? Look forward to all your elegant tips❤ Thank you.

Understand the rich culture of India You will realise the elegance our queens had - mata sita, mata rukmani, draupadi ji and other queens too! India doesn't need modifications, Indians need to learn about their own country. Because of western culture STOP destroying your own culture! See the GOLD JEWELLERY of Hindu girls who marry! They look no less than a queen themselves! ✨
@@riddhima845 first..I don't know why TH-cam is sending me the notification abt ur comment now...n 2nd I love my culture and understand it too...learning something good from someone else doesn't degrade ur own culture...I do respect our queens...by adapting u can keep it alive...by modification I meant it in a professional sense....I can't be loaded in gold in office...I needed some advice on how to manage it because I know every piece of jewelry is important in hindu culture...be it bangles earrings or mangalsutra..even rings..nose rings n toe rings...I love to wear all that in my office but just don't want to overload it...we need to change with time
Is there special etiquette surrounding engagement rings? Here, it's pretty common to wear your wedding band and engagement ring together, on the same finger; some people even have wedding bands that are curved to hug or follow the shape of the stone on the engagement ring. Would wearing both together go against the "one ring per hand" rule in a corporate setting?
Thank you, Julia! How about 1 or 2-carat emerald-cut diamond studs or winston gate earrings for the business environment? I usually opt to pair it with a small diamond or sapphire pendant on a princess-length chain. In the hope of not sounding too fastidious in expressing my point, I still need to state that pearls are not suitable for my completion. I borrowed miscellaneous jewellry pieces with various colours and shades of pearls from mama's jewellry collection. Unfortunately, none of them suit my fancy.
I've read that if you are a woman who wears her wedding ring on the ring finger of the left hand, a "statement ring" can be worn on the index finger of the left hand.
Jamila, did you buy your white sweater in Stradivarius? Because we have the same exact sweater at the very last part of your video when you showed the final piece that is exclusive and only available in Bvlgari, Baku, the medallion choker necklace. Love your etiquette videos, by the way! 💖
Also, never lend your jewellery to anyone. I had a very pretty green-stone in yellow jewellery (earrings w/necklace costume jewellery set) which I gave my mother. One day my aunt (mum's cousin-in-law, asked my mother if she could borrow this set to wear & then she said she lost it & we never got it back. *So never never ever lend your jewellery to anyone, N-E-V-E-R.*
I got married before knowing my undertone and my engagement ring is white gold, but I now prefer yellow gold because it looks better for my undertone. I don’t like wearing bracelets because they irritate my arms, so wearing a mixed metal bracelet isn’t an option for me. Does anyone know if wearing some yellow and some white gold rings mixed together works?
2 ปีที่แล้ว +3
Because it's your engagement ring, you can wear it with anything else you want. Or, you can wear your engagement ring in one hand and in your other hand you can wear yellow gold. Also, lots of jewellery combine different colours of gold. You can find rings with combined white and yellow gold, or white and rose gold, and rings with the three golds.
People should wear the pieces thst makes them feel grest regardless of the color I like rose gold very much I’m not thrilled with yellow but if I like a piece I’m going to get it anyway Eve if it does my color
Casting aside, cost, carat, color. Always remember, the also intristic value and sentimental one. Wear the ones given by your loved one, With him. Thus, you only have to always wear one, great piece, always.. Or, strands of pearls, or diamonds...
Wearing a watch for formal occasions is actually inappropriate... But with our modern day fashion, people do it anyway because it's a way to show off their luxury watches and it's becoming more and more acceptable...

Understand the rich culture of India
You will realise the elegance our queens had - mata sita, mata rukmani, draupadi ji and other queens too!
India doesn't need modifications, Indians need to learn about their own country.
Because of western culture STOP destroying your own culture!
See the GOLD JEWELLERY of Hindu girls who marry! They look no less than a queen themselves! ✨
@@riddhima845 totally agree. Embrace own culture😎👍👍
@@apscoinscurrenciesmore7599 thanxx ❤️
@@riddhima845 first..I don't know why TH-cam is sending me the notification abt ur comment now...n 2nd I love my culture and understand it too...learning something good from someone else doesn't degrade ur own culture...I do respect our queens...by adapting u can keep it alive...by modification I meant it in a professional sense....I can't be loaded in gold in office...I needed some advice on how to manage it because I know every piece of jewelry is important in hindu culture...be it bangles earrings or mangalsutra..even rings..nose rings n toe rings...I love to wear all that in my office but just don't want to overload it...we need to change with time
Love this topic Jamila. Thank you. With love from Sydney AUS

Hopefully next time ☺️
Excellent presentation as usual! You are radiant!
Thank you
I enjoyed your video. I was once told that if you wear glasses, do not wear hoops or circle pendants. What do you think ?
You need to make an video over 'lauda' etiquette!
I’ve seen her wear two rings on her ring finger, an engagement ring and a wedding band
No, that‘s totally fine
@@francescaferraz8161 that's what I was gonna say 😂😂
No, wedding and engagement rings are exempt from corporate setting etiquette rules, wear both! 🥰
Everywhere I've worked, an engagement ring and wedding band worn together (and an anniversary band stacked with them) are considered one ring.
I really liked the video, good explanations.
Glad you liked it!
You have good taste Lady Catherine
White pearl strand also pairs well with a yellow-gold pendant necklace.
such elegant dress! Where do you get it?
I was really looking forward to it. Thank you so much for your guidance ❣️. Ànd yes you are gorgeous
Thank you 🙏🏻
Hi,can you make topic about on how to become elegant base on their hygiene,I’ve noticed that some people dress well but bad smell..thank you so much
Such an interesting video and beautiful jewellery pieces 😍
Thank you
I've read that if you are a woman who wears her wedding ring on the ring finger of the left hand, a "statement ring" can be worn on the index finger of the left hand.
Jamila, did you buy your white sweater in Stradivarius? Because we have the same exact sweater at the very last part of your video when you showed the final piece that is exclusive and only available in Bvlgari, Baku, the medallion choker necklace. Love your etiquette videos, by the way! 💖
Beautiful video and amazing jewelry! Thank you for this advice!
Thank you
Draga Jamila veliki pozdrav.❤❤❤❤❤

You are welcome
I Really enjoyed alot form your video. It will help me alot thank you so much for sharing such infomation with us.. from India
Thank you
I have a double shade gold and white gold pendant so I can always mix match any metal earring that is my go to daily outlook
Love the info!
Maybe she never lost it😂😂
awww you look like you had so much fun!!!!
I did!
Because it's your engagement ring, you can wear it with anything else you want. Or, you can wear your engagement ring in one hand and in your other hand you can wear yellow gold. Also, lots of jewellery combine different colours of gold. You can find rings with combined white and yellow gold, or white and rose gold, and rings with the three golds.
@ Queen Elizabeth has a platinum engagement ring & yellow gold wedding band. So does Kate -- it's certainly not unheard of😀
Makeup etiquette pls
People should wear the pieces thst makes them feel grest regardless of the color I like rose gold very much I’m not thrilled with yellow but if I like a piece I’m going to get it anyway Eve if it does my color
Very much enjoyed the educational video.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Casting aside, cost, carat, color.
Always remember, the also intristic value and sentimental one.
Wear the ones given by your loved one,
With him.
Thus, you only have to always wear one, great piece, always..
Or, strands of pearls, or diamonds...
Thankyou, this was really helpful
Thank you!
Wearing a watch for formal occasions is actually inappropriate... But with our modern day fashion, people do it anyway because it's a way to show off their luxury watches and it's becoming more and more acceptable...
I think an exception are jewelry watches. There are really nice ones with hidden watches that look like a bracelet.
Great video Jamila, with love x
