  • It's time to do a little check-in on my art business goals! As it turns out, I'm a very goal-oriented person, and setting really concrete goals is a super important part of my ability to grow my business, and checking in regularly about those goals is arguably even more important! Join me for a little chat about how I'm prioritizing sustainability (in every sense of the word) and making room for personal growth as I continue to pursue my big dreams of supporting myself using income from my artwork.
What is one main goal you're working on in your creative business over the next few months?

I’m commenting at the 5 min mark 😂 I LOVE your differentiation between goals and milestones!!! Amazing. ❤

It's been SO helpful for me to think about them in this way!! I can see how people could lose steam if they thought they'd hit certain milestones by a certain time, so it helps a lot for me to just put those in an entirely different category.

Launching a traveling sketchbook can be an idea for the future. we have done it with some girlfriends from an art community and it was much fun! everyone can draw on one page of the sketchbook and then send it to another participant by post. And thanks for your video’s, Sarah.

Loved this update! I just published my 2nd quarter review and art plan video and it was so helpful to walk through that process. I love your mentality of slowing down and giving yourself the freedom to grow and enjoy the process. It’s so easy to feel the pressure of “I’ve got to make money with this!” Which then can be stifling and exhausting. I’m so excited to see how this next quarter goes for you and I’m eager to come along! Thanks so much for sharing your journey! Have a wonderful week!

Love it!! I'll have to go take a look at your update! I always find it so helpful to hear what other folks are working on. It's why TH-cam is my favorite social media platform!! Thanks, as always, for your kind words and encouragement -- I hope you have a wonderful week, too!

Thank you!! My trick is to wash it with cheap products and then sleep on it when it's wet and then sometimes it just ends up looking like this lolol

Hi Sarah! My name is Cyra (sounds slightly different than yours its pronounced like Seera) 👋 so glad I found your channel a few days ago. 🙌 I wish you the best in the continued growth! I love all of what you said about the art side. I found out I want to be an artist? Here I am almost 30, got lost in motherhood but trying to find myself! I got into the business space and started with the make designs using commercial use assets. But it never felt right. It never felt like I was creating it if you get what I mean. So while I save up for an ipad mini for procreate, I have been learning to get better with digital art using Ibis paint app on my phone with a fine point stylus 😂😂😂 it's not the easiest but I am having fun! Trying to learn to master leaves and simple vector shapes so I can make items with my cricut and such! But pattern design has always been an intrest of mine! So I've been kind of hyper fixated on it lately ❤ totally can relate to the take your time and be a slow artist/ business person! I'm currently homeschooling my daughter's so I don't have much time but I use what I can! Baby steps ❤

That's so awesome!! I'm so impressed that you've been working on your phone -- that takes skill! Once you're able to take the plunge and get an iPad I bet you'll be creating artwork non-stop. It's really fun! I'm sending you all my encouragement for your journey! You can do this!
