Your channel is very inspiring. I’ve been relaxing sorting my watercolour pans out and making new swatches while listening to lots of your videos in a row. You make me feel like getting on and doing things. 😊
Your channel is my favourite, Sarah 😊. It’s helped me a lot in my own journey in this business. I think you’ve achieved so much this year (I am ashamed… I feel you are doing all the hard work and we just take advantage lol 😅 However - in my defence, I did build my own website and am now in the same predicament, the place-holding pics in lieu of my portfolio are needing to be filled with work I am truly proud of! It’s amazing that I’ve identified so much with your journey - even to the day and to this one objective! Keep up the awesome work, Sarah. We love you 🥰 😘 Happy new year 😊
Ahhhh Alessandra, your comment made me smile so much 😭💕🫶🏼 THANK YOU for taking the time to share such kind thoughts! It’s been really amazing because the more I share, the more people I find who are walking a similar path. I’m so glad to be walking side by side with you! Now, let’s get these websites published 😅😅😅
When you put images of your work up, please leave them on the screen longer. And by the way, I'm completely taken in by your openness and the way you're sharing with the world from the very beginning. I love the pink bun wallpaper story. Did you enter that in Spoonflower's "conversational wallpaper " design competition?
Your website pages are adorable and reflect you beautifully, pull the trigger on that, woman. Keep moving forward, don't let perfection hold you back. -a perfectionist.
Hi Sarah!! New subscriber here!!! Funny thing is recently I also started my journey as a pattern design artist while working a full time job. Your video is incredibly relatable and makes me feel like I’m not alone in this, so thank you for sharing ❤
Hi!! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment 🥰🫶🏼 You know, one of the best things I’ve found since I started posting these videos is that it turns out there are lots of us out there! It can feel pretty lonely to be working towards these goals all on our own, so it’s so wonderful to connect with people like you!
Great update. Thx for sharing and can’t wait to see all you do in 2024💙. 1 2023 win: sold my first spoonflower product 😊 1 2024 goal: create my first large collection (8-10 patterns). I’ve done 3 max in mini collections so far and want to stretch myself.
Hi Sarah! I loved this video, its so great see how people think about their goals and plan for their business. Can I say how impressed I am at your 2023 goals?!?!! Such a great video and just in time! I'm setting my goals for this year and picked up some good ones from this video to add to my list! Thank you so much for sharing!
Awwww thank you so much, Blanca!! And I’m excited to hear you got some ideas from your own goals from this video! There’s something so motivating about taking time to really think about goals and to write them down. I’m excited to follow along as you check your goals off your list!
I recently discovered your channel, Sarah, and I like it. Thank you for being so open and genuine and sharing so much good things. Love your art, love your food illustrations - they are a good realistic-illustrative fusion. Good luck with your goals, I am sure you will conquer them all. I need to get brave and to open Spoonflower account. Did you do it on your own or maybe a course or class was helpful? Thank you
Thank you for your kind words!! So glad you’re enjoying my videos. I opened my Spoonflower shop on my own! It’s really quite simple. Of course, there’s a lot you can do to optimize your shop that I haven’t set aside the time to do yet, but I think it’s perfectly fine to just take one step at a time. If you’re on Facebook, there’s also a really helpful group called Spoonflower Fans, and I’ve learned a ton of helpful info on there!
I am looking forward to a newsletter, however short, by February. And if the website is on, I shall visit!😊 Cliché but true, perfection is the enemy of good. You're doing great Sarah.
Hey Sarah, it was so interesting listening to your goals of last year and this year. I really hope it will be a great year for you. One goal for me of last year was to start drawing more seriously, and I did😊and I unexpectedly took part in an October drawing challenge. One goal for this year (apart from continuing drawing everyday/every week) is to make short little story skits with my illustrations and put it in a little zine😁
Woohoo, great job achieving your goal, Irene! I also love your goal to pull together a zine - I’m always SO impressed by people who tell little stories through their artwork. I’m cheering you on!
I’ve been loving watching you on your journey- I’m trying to do the same and I’ve been having a hard time not knowing which direction to take. I think I’ll make a goal video to get started because this is a great way to organize my thoughts - way to go on all your successes this year!!! Also qq- do you edit your own videos?
Aww, thank you, Morgan! I TOTALLY recommend doing some sort of goals video. Or, at least, writing down your goals and putting them somewhere you can see them every day. It might sound silly, but it's actually helped me so much to do that. I'm cheering you on!! I do edit my own videos! I use Final Cut Pro these days, but I just used iMovie for many years 😄
Sarah if you are ever looking for a video editor just let me know. I am a freelance video editor that works with artists in editing courses, events, etc… I use Adobe Premiere Pro.
Yeah you don’t have to vectorize everything but if you make art and then a client wants the size increased it is easier to change the size than to have to remake the art. But both options work. Making art in raster just have to make sure to make large enough and should be no problem.
This video is great! It’s cool to watch videos with people who are on the same journey as you! 🎉
Your channel is very inspiring. I’ve been relaxing sorting my watercolour pans out and making new swatches while listening to lots of your videos in a row. You make me feel like getting on and doing things. 😊
This makes me so happy to hear!! I hope all is going well with your swatches! 🫶🏼

I dont know why people think you have to vectorize everything
Definitely a big misconception! I’m a raster girl for sure!
Yeah you don’t have to vectorize everything but if you make art and then a client wants the size increased it is easier to change the size than to have to remake the art. But both options work. Making art in raster just have to make sure to make large enough and should be no problem.
@@Her_Indigo_Moon Right, and I typically make all of my raster artwork at a large scale to avoid anything like that!
I'm currently creating accountability groups for people learning surface design, would you like to join us?
