Hello, does the scooter have cruise control, or how to turn it on? can the scooter be unlocked to go more than 25 km/h? with G2 it was possible by changing the country in the application ... thank you, good luck
This is not a successor to G30 but to failed P100S. Mine P100S is still 7th month in Segway service as they still do not have parts. And yes, issue is broken front fork on my P100S, thats why that ZT3 has a different front fork. As you didn`t mention P100S even once, it is clear that Segway asked you to not mention failed product. So Pros of ZT3 against P100S - Spring suspension is much better than steel tube torsion bar used on battle tanks and P100S. Suspension didn`t do anything on P100S Bad things that they didn`t change - Brakes are same as on P100S. They do last about 300km before need to adjust. And about 1500km before you need to replace brake pads for 20USD. G30 brakes lasts around 1500km before adjustment, and 5000km before replacement. - Rear fender is the same falling off fender as on P100S. It would fail again. You just ride of a curb once and it is broken. When it is broken and moving it starts to unscrew your rear wheel due to vibration. - Deck is short and uncomfortable compared to G30. - Front fender is even worse than on P100S, and your feet would be wet durring the rain. - Alarm, only way to turn it off is via the app. Goes on when you put it in the car, goes on when you move it in your flat. Button on handlebars to activate and deactivate would be much better. Automatic unlock via blutooth proximity would drain your battery, it is a bad solution. - Walking mode. Few times I was on 3 lane intersetion and accidentally pushed wakling mode. And you can`t turn it off in movement. Only way to turn it off is to stop. So I ran through intersections with 50 cars honking behind me. - Best thing of P100S was 1200Wh battery. But with 600Wh on ZT3 you would have a range of 20km on a full speed. So overall ZT3 is not replacement gor G30. ZT3 would require maintanance every 300 km. G30 require maintanance every 1500km. For me that means fixing every month or 2 times per year. To add I have ridden 16000km on two G30s and 3000km on P100S
Incredible feedback thanks! I’ll read through all of this. They never mentioned the P100S. We tried and tried and tried to get one because so many people were curious about, but never got one. The P100S costs 50% more, so we would put that one in a different category. We also generally don’t talk about scooters we haven’t tested because we don’t know what we don’t know and your post is a great example of what we didn’t know. -Paul
@@Teapode thing I dislike about Segway is fix ability. Segway is like Apple when it comes to fixing yourself. You have to send the scooter in. Nothing is plug n play. Everything is soldered.
Wow, this review told me everything I need to know about the Segway Ninebot ZT3! Thank you so much. I have a Segway Ninebot MAX G2 now and was trying to figure out if I upgrade to this or maybe get a scooter from NIU. Thank you so much. This was so helpful.
I asked them about this when the GT2 came out (strangely the GT2 is a 52V scooter which competes against 72V scooters on acceleration). Segway keeps them at a max of 52V for safety. There’s a general idea that sub 60v is safe when exposed (crashed and broken open), and since 60V scooters go well beyond 60v when fully charged, they won’t do scooters which are 60V nominal. -Paul
@@mikehagquist5198 25 isn't fast, but for most people it wouldn't be slow either. I have a Wolf King GT Pro and I rarely go above 30. And for anyone used to a Bird type scooter that goes 15-18, 25 would feel pretty quick.
Great review Paul and thanks for mentioning the weight. I'm definitely against the this trend of heavier scooters with relatively small 597Wh batteries but I'll trust Segway did their market research and the price certainly helps. In form, this scooter reminds me at lot of the VMAX VX4 with single motor, similar weight and speed, the main difference being that VMAX allows you to pay more and get a larger battery based on range requirements. While the limited range makes this one a no-go for me, the other big issue is with this model's 25mph speed, the same thing that kept me from purchasing the VX4. Models like the Cruiser S for example (even the previous gen) have the option for 31mph speeds, even if you don't use that speed all the time. I question the Off-Road moniker as this doesn't really appears to be the ZT3's strong suit without dampened coil springs and swing arms but hey, there's a semantic element at play. As you stated, the ZT3 appears to be competing with Max G2. It has better suspension, a slightly larger battery, it's faster, and has all the contemporary looks and app tech. It has the appearance that it should compete with dual motor sport scooter but is priced to go after the tech commuter scooter segment while asking them to look the other way when it comes to size and weight.
The more I think about this scooter, the more I wish Segway would have just introduced an actual successor to the Ninebot Max G2. Something in more or less the same form factor but with 25% larger battery, 4-5mph higher speed and with more contemporary styling and tech. Perhaps it would have been a few pounds heavier but still in the same class of commuter scooter unlike this 66 pounder. The boost mode is becoming increasingly hard for me to wrap my head around from the aspect being useful on a typical ride. If it were something that was "on-the-fly" select-able with the press of a button and gave you a few more mph of top speed, I could get behind it a bit more. As of right now, it's hard for me to see it as anything but a gimmick.
The funny thing is the G2 is still new, but feels old because they kept it so close to the style of the original. It had to be a tough call for them, revising the best selling scooter ever and not knowing how much change was too much. But they really should have brought the display all the way up to this level on the G2. Given that we had the original Ninebot Max G30 for four years, I think it will be at least a year or two before we get a G3. Boost mode has been around for a while in different guises. The Dualtrons did it on the Thunder 2 with the double click throttle (which is awkward). The Wolf King GTR also has the double click, which also causes a testing dilemma: it's difficult to time it right to get the ultimate top speed and then the question becomes how long does it need to maintain top speed to count as a true top speed? Someone suggested that it would be nice if they made the big red button programmable to be boost mode, since you can already toggle it to be walk mode or hill-hold mode. That would work for me. -Paul
I’d like to see reviews of scooters with 500 - 1000 miles of use on them. Just like reviews of smart phones and computers, everyone reviews new and out of the box when everything is great. The real quality of any product shows after being put thru real world use not when you first turn it on. Id be curious to see how higher priced Segways hold up in comparison to their lower priced competition, after months of real world use.
I totally agree! I wish I had a month to spend with each scooter riding the heck out of it. The funny thing is, we're one of the few channels that range-tests scooters. (every full review we do includes full testing and a range test). So we have about 2X the range of the range test on most of the scooters by the time we do the review. -Paul
I agree wholeheartedly with this statement. However it may take quite a while to get 500-1000 miles on a scooter, even if you did it intentionally straight with all the charging it’ll need in between. Long enough that the scooter won’t even be relevant anymore for purchase. My old scooter with over 1000 miles on it took me over a year to achieve with my 10-mile round trip daily commute.
I always enjoy your reviews, thanks. I'm slowly shopping a full suspension scooter, the zt3 would probably be a bit too heavy, I want lighter and a bit easier to stow in the trunk. I'd like to see you do a review of the Hiboy max Pro, it's 48 volts, 52 pounds, and has full suspension. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for watching and for the suggestion. I don't think we have any Hiboy scooters coming soon, but the more you ask the more likely we are to review it! For example, I'm testing the Inmotion Climber today because so many people requested it. It took 6 months for me to get my hands on one, but here it is, and they're not lying about the climbing ability! I'll go have a look at the Hiboy Max Pro specs and also check to see if we're in touch with Hiboy scooters these days. Thanks again. -Paul
Hi, great review, thanks for putting on screen the metric conversions (km/h) for us international viewers 👍 would be nice to convert weight and others too; this model looks nice! and with competitive price and specs; I own a Max G2 and has been great so I see this and imagine the updates that the maybe upcoming Max G3 could have, like new battery and motor, bigger and brighter dashboard, the more ergonomic controls, better front light and some others and looks so exciting like my almost perfect scooter in the way, cheers
Thank you so much! We’re always in such a rush getting these videos out the door (sometimes until midnight the night before) that we still forget to do as much metric as we should. Regular reminders are helpful! :-) Have you heard rumors of a MAX G3 already? Since it took 4 years from G30 to MAX G2, I’ve been thinking we’ll have the G2 for a while, but I could be wrong. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Great work! Keep on! Not rumors at all, but thinking in the posibilities because this is so different that the G2 but in the price range and the others brands are moving, I would like a G3 in one year from now maybe two, a 4 years cycle seems a lot now, cheers 👍
@@OscarAM Yeah, 4 years was too long for sure. I think the next gen was slow in coming for the same reason it took so long to get an EMOVE Cruiser V2: because the first gen was selling so well and they were afraid of messing it up! I'd hate to be the designer at Segway or EMOVE in charge of coming up with a successor to those. The pressure has to be enormous. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide yep, sure it's hard to move something working well, but there are some know defects in the G2 now, various imporvements posible and so much more options to choose now, thanks for anwer 👍
@@OscarAM as a max g2 owner for few weeks, i cant wait for G3 too, whenever it happens. I really like it, but the battery is pretty mediocre with some other things you already mentioned. updated with new tech etc. it could also be a super great successor as G2 is to G30(even though G30 is still really good).
Wow! Thank you so much! I really enjoyed making this one and couldn't wait to get it published because I think it's just such an interesting and unusual scooter. I love to see the unbelievable pile of engineering dollars Segway puts into these. (which makes the power button-hitting-the-deck-in-the-car all the more surprising!). I really appreciate your support! -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide the range is something I didn't expect to be this bad, which is really hurting my decision for it, and I knew it wouldn't be as comfy as the g2 by I was hoping it would compensate for being around the beach area, but range is really important to me.
The funny thing is I went further than spec! I went 20.5 miles. The battery is bigger than the MAX G2 so it should have gone further, except that I was riding faster and accelerating harder than I did on the MAX G2. But in top mode, with typical riding... you're going to get about 20 miles realistically. :-/ -Paul
For a scooter advertised as being for off road use I’m disappointed about the ZT3’s single rear shock. Battery capacity and voltage are probably best described as adequate when updating from a G2 Max. The front break rotor leaves a bit to be desired. I’m considering the play now being shown in the telescoping front fork of my G2 Max as my main reason for wanting to update to the ZT3 pro. G2 still feels perfectly acceptable to ride but it seems it has just barely been able to keep up with handling what the root mounds and bumps along my bitumen bike paths have been throwing at it over the last 1600 or so kilometres. This model seems to be the perfect upgrade path for me. 👍🏻
Thanks for watching and for your insights on your MAX G2 vs the ZT3 Pro! The fork on the ZT3 Pro has 40mm of travel, by the way. I measured it and even photographed the measurement... and then forgot to put it in the video! -Paul
Thanks so much for sharing the video! 😊 I’ve been thinking about upgrading from my Ninebot E45, which I use for my daily commute to work. 🚴♂ The ZT3 Pro has really caught my eye, and I’m excited about the possibility! 🌟
I tried to get that version while I was doing testing for the review. When did you update? I checked for new firmware the morning of the speed test and the app updated me to 1.7.6 but wouldn't give me 1.11.1 I even re-checked again after updating to 1.7.6 and it said that I was up to date. :-( I read on Reddit that Segway offered 1.11.1 for a while and then pulled it back. I've checked a few times since and it was still 1.7.6 only. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Apparently such marketing, before the release of zt3 pro was firmware, but I had an eu controller that had a boost and version 1.11.1 but 25 km. when I ordered a global controller, the version was no longer available... 35 but no boost. I'm thinking of ordering somewhere already flashed for boost or xiaodash (I don't advise anyone to touch st-link if you have one controller).
The nice thing about these is they aren't crazy knobby. Full on knobbies drive me nuts. These are like 75% road and 25% offroad. So not bad at all on the road. -Paul
I just bought the Max G2 for my girlfriend so she could ride with me on my E-board. She likes it but it struggles up steep hills. I'm starting to think I should return it to Amazon and get the ZT3.
There was a firmware update for a while called 1.11.1 that added boost mode to the MAX G2. It had been pulled by Segway by the time I did the update the morning of these tests. So 1.7.6 was the newest I could download. Check your firmware. Also make sure your tires are at the max pressure, and of course it helps to be fully charged. This is definitely a stronger climber even without boost mode though. -Paul
I drove into a steep hill without boost at the end of 30 meters uphill was a speed of 13, with boost 20 very confidently, just they withdrew the firmware.... 1.11.1
Hey, quick question. The brakes are opposite-handed and can't be swapped? You mean between them or for another ones? What does it mean to be opposite-handed? Another question about the battery. The info that they give suggest it has a larger battery capacity because of the 597 Wh that appears on the specs. But the Max G2 is 15.3 Ah at 36 V which means 550.8 Wh which is about 8.4% bigger. How do you calculate the 6%? Do you have the official Ah of the ZT3 Pro battery? (also, 597 Wh divided by what apparently is the voltage of the scooter, gives a capacity between 12.4 and 12.7 Ah for this battery. So, how is this bigger than the Max G2?)
I should really try swapping them. When we were editing this video, I quickly added that note because I was thinking the calipers were mirror images of each other, but come to think of it, maybe they can be swapped. It was just the fact that they're mounted in different orientations that makes them look incompatible. I wish I had time to try swapping them, because I'd really prefer the stronger brake on the front. Segway is confusing, they label their batteries differently from other companies in terms of nominal voltage, so I think that's where the 6% vs 8% discrepancy came from. The battery in the ZT3 Pro has 8.3% more energy than the one in the Ninebot MAX G2. The battery terminology the industry uses is confusing. We should get away from talking about amp-hours to describe battery capacity because it can be misleading. Energy capacity of a battery should always measured in Watt-hours. Here's an example of where amp hours can lead to the wrong conclusion. a 13ah x 36V battery = 468 Wh where a 10ah x 52V battery is 520 Wh Ultimately it's the Wh that count. You can use Ah when comparing the sizes of two batteries, but only if they have the same voltage. The MAX G2 is 36V and the ZT3 Pro is 48V which is why the one with the smaller amount of Ah still has the larger capacity. Thanks so much for fact checking me. I always hate it when I get something even slightly wrong in these videos, but it's hard to avoid. -Paul
Please compare this one with dualtron togo plus and limited by their uphill crusing performance and heat dissipation asap. Best kickscooter channel on youtube by far! (Without a video your experience on all models ive mentioned would be higly aprewciated as well)
I'm still going strong with my 3 year old ninebot g30 max. I'm looking for an excuse to upgrade but the thing just will not give me one. About 1000 miles on it and running like the day I got it.
Looking pretty good. The only downside of Segway is that they want to be "good boys" for the EU regulators so we are forced to find alternative methods to have full functionality and top speed.
I wish everyone had the wide open scooters we have here. Actually, we’re limited too. I calculated the top speed this would have if it ran truly unlimited and it’s close to 40mph. Range would be awful though. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Indeed, I have seen modifications (extra battery) on the OG max that alows it to go to +50kmh. That's the other problem with segway... low voltage and capacity bateries. Its a shame considering the motors are good. Anyway, it was a decent video, keep it going guys.
Looks very nice ESG! Tho it reminds me more of something closer to the P100 and P65 models! If you check them all 3 side by side you will i am right. Much love from Greece! :)
Great input. Thanks for asking. I didn’t compare it to the P100S because the prices are so different. Also the P100S didn’t sell very well here so not that many people are familiar with it, where everyone knows the MAX G2. I can’t remember why I didn’t compare it to the P65. I think it was lack of suspension. Thanks so much for your support! -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Yeap you right there Paul the P100s price is much higher and the P65 does not have suspensions. I see it more of an upgrage of the P65 you guys know very well companies do this a lot more and more stuff on the scoot for the same or better price. The battaries cost have drops those last years also so what why i say this. :)
It definitely has a similar style. I didn't compare the ZT3 Pro to the P100S because the P100S is in a different price category since it costs about twice as much as the ZT3 Pro and MAX G2. The P100S looks like a super cool scooter. I really wanted to test one. We asked and asked and asked if we could get one to test, but were never able to get one. -Paul
Great review! I'm getting into the scooter world for the first time as I moved into the heart of Kansas City and have been looking for a low-cost way to commute over using my car all the time. Most places (including my office) are within a few miles so I've been looking at the scooter option as they're popular here. I didn't really care for the styling of most scooters as they seem like the same designs as toy ones for children. This one caught my eye after your review! I needed decent power and range, but don't need 30+ miles of range for daily use. I love the new aggressive look of this and the power is perfect for my commutes. Needless to say I preordered and can't wait for it to arrive! Any word yet on a more accurate ship date??
Awesome! Sounds like a great fit for what you want to do! I don't have any more info on the shipping date. The good news is that these have already been shipping in Europe. In fact the unit I tested was originally destined for Europe but has been updated with USA firmware. So they definitely know how to manufacture these already. So I expect they'll hit whatever shipping targets they have planned. Let us know how you like it when you receive it! -Paul
I wish Segway made a scooter that took the suspension of the ZT3 Pro, the speed and power of the GT2 Pro, and the tech and app features of the G2 Max and put it in one scooter priced for not more than $1400.
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide People saying this scooter is a remake or continuation of another scooter are wrong. From the Segway press release, Tom Hebert, VP of Sales at Segway. “Extreme R&D and testing has gone into this and it shows. It’s a completely new scooter designed from the ground up to maximize fun, versatility and capability. It’s packed with tech and innovation and it’s an absolute blast to ride. It’s the perfect introduction to our new ZT series.” - New steel frame. - New front suspension. - New tires. - New fenders. - New lighting. - New LCD display. - New accessory system to support BOTH seat and luggage. - v2 charging system and battery management. - New offroad design. I believe them when they say they started designing the ZT3 Pro and ended up building an entirely new scooter.
Yes. I don’t see any meaningful parts from any other scooter here. I think people feel like is shares design cues with some others, but up close it’s very clear this is all new. -Paul
Yes, it’s steel. I stuck a magnet to it. Just like with mountain bikes, you can go either way with tubular frames. In this case, the ZT3 also isn’t particularly light with an ESG tested weight of 66.0 lbs. -Paul
Thanks for the review been waiting to hear what you thought of ZT3 cuz I have the G2 max and love it but ready to get a hyper scooter like the roadrunner RS5 max
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. If you already have the G2, as different as this is, the ZT3 might now be different enough. The RS5 Max is a whole other world though, and would be a good contrast. I'd definitely keep the G2 though! -Paul
Are you mainly applying rear brake? If so, try making your front brake your primary brake. Practice by carefully using only the front brake for a while, then adding rear brake once you get comfortable with using only the front. Using only rear brake will cause any scooter to skid because most of the weight and traction go to the front tire under braking. -Paul
If I ever upgrade from my g30lp, it would be to this. Or a pegasus. I'm inclined to pick this though since I know segway is super reliable and well made. All the specs are pretty much perfect too.
Same Boat as you. G30LP. 1500 miles. I had the Varla Pegasus, 43 miles didn’t like it too much too heavy too fast so ordered this one still waiting for it to come sometime in November. Definitely looking forward to this one has a lot better options.
On earlier versions of the Max G30 and maybe even as recently as the Max G2 people were using a third party app to trick the scooters into thinking they had USA serial numbers. I don’t know what the dangers are though. I’d be a little worried about bricking the scooter. It might be that they have closed this loophole. That said (whispering: this unit in the review is an EU version, but I think it recognized that it’s in the USA or someone at Segway maybe re-patriated it before sending it.) Ours had max speed right out of the box. -Paul
Usually the price is more expensive here in Europe 🇫🇷 with the +20% taxes, but this time it's actually cheaper 699.99 € = $782. Maybe because we have the version with a speed limited by law to 15 mph
I was really surprised that it’s less expensive in other places, but yeah at least we get the higher speed! The unit I tested is actually a euro version with USA firmware! -Paul
@@salvalarocca746 Holà ¿de qué ciudad? As Paul said we need to have the international/USA app version. I don't know if it's possible to use it like with some VPN or so. I'm subscribed to a french rider called: "KRAMTOO", I'm gonna ask if someone found out a possible way to download the firmware/to use the USA app. I'll comment back later
Good review - the review mentions it’s off-road uniqueness, so some of the comparisons are not balanced. For example, the MaxG2 is designed for commuting with features like low-rolling resistance tires. The ZT3’s tires are larger and treaded for on/off-road. Overall, I think the ZT3 should be compared to another scooter in the same category,
I really like everything that I am seeing here, but I would like to have a removable battery. I live in Canada and it would be great to leave the scooter in the garage and take the battery in the house during the colder months. I am hoping that someday the battery chemistry will change to one that is safer. Thank you for the review, it was very interesting.
Any updates? I asked before if pre orders is going to be available for Canada anytime soon. Thanks. Also, overall is the Apollo go better even if its more expensive or is the ZT3 pro more worth it?
They said they aren’t sure when it will be available in Canada but asked that you keep an eye on segwaystore.ca The Apollo Go is smoother and more refined and has the amazing regen brakes. The ZT3 Pro has more stuff to play with in the app and is quite it a bit more wild looking. The super surprising thing for me just now looking at the stats side by side is that our tested weight is 16.8lbs less for the GO than for the ZT3 Pro. Battery size is very similar, tested top speed about the same (the Go is .6mph faster) 0 to 15 the ZTL3 is quicker, but that was in boost mode. Hill climb was quicker for the ZTL Pro in Boost mode or not. So the Go is a bit more grown up looking and has a noticeably smoother ride. To blast around on or ride in the dirt, I’d pick the ZTL, to live with for commuting, the Go. -Paul
in Europe its limited by default to 25km/h, so people can drive them without a motorcycle helmet but most importantly without a scooter or car drivers license. i think the speed limit of 25KM/h is stupid, but it is what it is.
You can set the speed you go. The gt1 goes on sale for 1500$ It's a far better scooter than almost ever scooter out there. I own the gt2 as my daily driver and i love it.
Oh wow! I didn’t know it wasn’t available there yet. I reached out to Segway Ninebot just now. It’s the weekend, so they might not get back to me right away. If you don’t hear back from me by end of day Monday, please ask again :-) -Paul
this could have been such a beast as a dual motor... You have dual motors that are much lighter than this... Hope you can review the Climber soon and maybe compare it to the Apollo go...There is a promotion on the Climber in my country for 2 weeks more, and I am really hesitant to get one... Anyway great review by Paul as usual
Thank you so much! I'm literally sitting in my car post-range test crunching data on the Climber right now! I just took a break from data analysis to check comments! We will have an Inmotion Climber review for you in a week or so. Spoiler alert, we've tested 100 sub $1k scooters on the same test hill. The Climber does extremely well vs price on the 10% grade ESG test hill. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Amazing Paul, you are really a huge asset for ESG, I have seen other reviews from other channels but those from ESG and those from you in particular are on a whole different level. That's why I wait for ESG reviews before buying. I own a Boosted Rev, which is still great, but it's now 5 years old and the range is even lower than it used to be. I got a Chinese clone of the Rev (Maxfind, don't know if you'll ever review that) which is not bad, but for reliability I think a reputable brand will last much more, so Apollo or Inmotion (or Ninebot) are clearly reputable brands (the Go seems better overall, but the Climber should be lighter and has local service while with I have no Apollo dealer in my country so I need to import and be on my own for repairs). One last thing, no youtube channel mentions what I consider a very important element, tire width. They only mention tire size. But I have learn that width is critical for safety. For instance the Rev is 9in and 3in wide, the Maxfind is 10in and 3.5in wide, the GO I only know it's 9in, but is it 2in or 2.5in wide? The Climber, no idea... That would be a very useful info to add.
Great question. I'm using the latest version Segway will let us apply to this scooter which is 1.7.6 which doesn't have boost mode. Version 1.11.1 had boost mode, and was available for a while, but according to Reddit, has been pulled back by Segway and isn't currently available. I updated the firmware on our MAX G2 the same morning I performed these tests, and got version 1.7.6 I immediately re-checked to make sure it wasn't going to give me something newer than that. (sometimes you'll get an update right after an update). But 1.7.6 is all Segway would let me download. Unfortunately 1.7.6 doesn't have boost mode. 1.7.6 was quicker up our test hill and to 20mph than the original firmware we tested with when we first reviewed the Ninebot MAX G2 though. -Paul
From the videos I've seen I agree. I like that they make the battery gauge light up in red on the MAX G2 in boost mode though. I wanted to see that! Still checking to see if 1.11.1 is coming back. -Paul
Thanks so much for watching and commenting! It’s a specialized bike helmet. I don’t love it. Too much wind noise over my ears. I just used it because it has the right colors and felt so much more appropriate than my motorcycle road racing helmet that I usually use. -Paul
I have a G30lp that has served me well for 3 years, (i think) Got over 2000 miles on it and the battery is starting to become lackluster. I have been debating over a Max G2 since it came out and never pulled the trigger. I am a fan of the preorder price of the ZT3 Pro and Segway reliability. Is this the one to go for?
Tough place in the product stack. In my mind the GX Zero is very close competition and comes with dual motors. Having the larger tires and an app is nice but being single motor is disappointing although understandable.
The GX Zero is a great scooter. In boost mode, surprisingly this single motor scooter climbed our test hill more than 2 seconds faster than the GX Zero. -Paul
My dualtron togo plus 650w version gets into eco mode if controller and motor reaches higher degrees while climbing uphill, at low rpm togo plus struggles to climbing steep hills at around %20-25 grades; i would very much like to know how comparable zt3pro is since it has a very competitive sub 1k proce tag , promising 1.6 kw peak power!
Hmmm....the real issue w/ all of these is what do you do if you get a flat!? USCOOTER GT is still the best pound for pound for urban commuting ESPECIALLY BECAUSE OF THE USCOOTER fold down handles -- BUT for the first time I feel SEGWAY has a viable option for non beginners that want to handle some urban missions - even better if you can unlock and get it to go 25-30 mph = the sweet spot of usable speed :)
UScooters are amazing for portability. I wish the tires were a little wider and softer though. I forget I’m riding on solid tires sometimes and have come close to losing it around corners a couple times, but only when I’m cornering harder than the Uscooter is designed for :-) -Paul
I hate the feeling of bumping off a speed limiter. I ride my scooter 🛴 in its lower power modes but always remove the speed limits it just feels better.

Interesting Zt3 cost is same as P65 $999 still under $1000 bucks. While P100 is is double or almost double price depend where you buy, but now days P100 is very hard to find
Yeah the P100 looks amazing, but so much more expensive. I like that the ZT3 gets suspension unlike the P65. Unfortunately we’ve never received a P65 or P100 so we’ve never tested them. We tend to avoid putting scooters we haven’t tested in our videos since we can’t vouch for how far or how fast they really go, and it doesn’t feel fair to compare specified range to the tested ranges we always use. -Paul

Finally a product that cost less in France in euros than in USA ( little joke side because China target agressively France with lower price for e scooters and the ZT3 is the lowest you can find at 699€ ) after have owned a lot of scooter : M365, Boosted Rev, Ninebot Max G30 E II, Ninebot Max G2 ( stolen ) , Teverun Fighter Mini, Dualtron Togo Plus, Nami Klima, Dualtron Victor Luxury Limited ( Nutt brakes and Tubeless 3" tyres ) i'm still in hunt for a reliable scooter but now in mind i want to be 100% legal in Paris. the ZT3 checks a lot fo the marks... and with the fun of it ! the motorcycle throttle style is something that would allow my crippled thumb to rest and a natural way of accelerate. 11" Wheels, fast charge, suspensions, look... and pricewise it's on the right spot alongside the G2 that i loved for the ride quality.

I really need your help! According to the law, we are limited to 25 km / h, but we also want our scooter to go 40 km / h. We need your help in creating firmware, how can we contact you?
We always test the range when riding in the highest mode as part of our testing procedure. But you're right, that means scooters with higher top speed take a penalty on range. Scooters with a lot of acceleration will get less range as well, but in both cases we feel that if they give riders the ability to use the acceleration and speed, then they'll probably use it. But it's absolutely true that the range would be very close to the Ninebot Max's range if we rode them both at the same speed. We can tell that by looking at the Watt-hours. It's always tricky comparing range. For example it also wouldn't feel fair to say it has a 25mph top speed and then not use that speed during the range test. The best solution we've been able to come up with is to try to always be clear, consistent and transparent about the test conditions. -Paul
There’s a brake light/tail light. It had the big X light on the front and a headlight. But there are no swag lights, like deck lights shining on the ground. The turn signals are on the end of the handlebars. -Paul
The GX1 and the ZT3 have about the same acceleration, but only when the ZT3 is in Boost mode. The GX1 has a bigger battery. Range is the same. The GX1 wins on top speed, but is heavier and costs a bit more. You can find all of our latest test data at the electricscooterguide website. :-) -Paul

So Pros of ZT3 against P100S
- Spring suspension is much better than steel tube torsion bar used on battle tanks and P100S. Suspension didn`t do anything on P100S
Bad things that they didn`t change
- Brakes are same as on P100S.
-Paul
Wow these are lot's of detailed info for a youtube comment, thank you so much!

@@Teapode thing I dislike about Segway is fix ability. Segway is like Apple when it comes to fixing yourself. You have to send the scooter in. Nothing is plug n play. Everything is soldered.

Under 20 miles distance at top speed is just ridiculous and I don't understand why Segway doesn't use a 60 volt battery!
-Paul
But did you see fast charging.
Yes, it comes with a 3.9A charger, so it charges about twice as fast as most scooters. -Paul
It needs to do 30 mph. It’s looks super fast but it’s super slow
Hey, good to see you. I always look forward to your insights! Thanks for watching and commenting! -Paul
I preordered this. It's my first scooter and I am excited and hope it is awesome.
Outstanding! Enjoy your scooter! -Paul

-Paul

Here's an example of where amp hours can lead to the wrong conclusion.
a 13ah x 36V battery = 468 Wh
where a 10ah x 52V battery is 520 Wh
Ultimately it's the Wh that count.

Thanks! -Paul

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Yeap you right there Paul the P100s price is much higher and the P65 does not have suspensions. @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Oh for sure Paul! That would be great!!
This is a remake of the P100S and no one else mentions that scooter
It definitely has a similar style. I didn't compare the ZT3 Pro to the P100S because the P100S is in a different price category since it costs about twice as much as the ZT3 Pro and MAX G2.
The P100S looks like a super cool scooter. I really wanted to test one. We asked and asked and asked if we could get one to test, but were never able to get one.

It’s the perfect introduction to our new ZT series.”
- New steel frame.
-Paul
0:56 Are you sure that’s a steel frame? Every other scooter is aluminum to save weight

@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide oh ya for sure you guys have been a key part of me getting my scooter
Does anybody else’s zt3 make a cluck like noise when breaking? I’ve also noticed that when I do break I’m sliding all over the place

Segway definitely has the edge on reliability! You can really see where the engineering dollars were spent on the ZT3 Pro (everywhere!) -Paul
Same Boat as you. G30LP. 1500 miles. I had the Varla Pegasus, 43 miles didn’t like it too much too heavy too fast so ordered this one still waiting for it to come sometime in November. Definitely looking forward to this one has a lot better options.

Hi Paul. I live in spain and here is limited soeed to 25km/h. Can we modify the speed some how? Maybe from hide menu? Thanks in advance
-Paul

Love the Segway Ninebot ZT3 Pro!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Any updates? I asked before if pre orders is going to be available for Canada anytime soon. Thanks. Also, overall is the Apollo go better even if its more expensive or is the ZT3 pro more worth it?
Should be very soon
ok thanks
They said they aren’t sure when it will be available in Canada but asked that you keep an eye on
segwaystore.ca
The Apollo Go is smoother and more refined and has the amazing regen brakes. The ZT3 Pro has more stuff to play with in the app and is quite it a bit more wild looking.
The super surprising thing for me just now looking at the stats side by side is that our tested weight is 16.8lbs less for the GO than for the ZT3 Pro.
Battery size is very similar, tested top speed about the same (the Go is .6mph faster)
0 to 15 the ZTL3 is quicker, but that was in boost mode.
Hill climb was quicker for the ZTL Pro in Boost mode or not.
So the Go is a bit more grown up looking and has a noticeably smoother ride. To blast around on or ride in the dirt, I’d pick the ZTL, to live with for commuting, the Go.

Did you have the max G2 in boost mode ?
Great question.
I'm using the latest version Segway will let us apply to this scooter which is 1.7.6 which doesn't have boost mode.
Version 1.11.1 had boost mode, and was available for a while, but according to Reddit, has been pulled back by Segway and isn't currently available.
I updated the firmware on our MAX G2 the same morning I performed these tests, and got version 1.7.6
I immediately re-checked to make sure it wasn't going to give me something newer than that.
-Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide thx new boost mode for max g2 makes a huge diff but I would still imagine zt3 would win.

As long as you’re ok with the 12 extra pounds and being a little more bulky, it’s pretty great! -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide For someone who is 130 pounds is the suspension too stiff? Would the G2 be better in that regard?
Between that ZT3 Pro or the Max G2, which one would you keep and you are not going to use it on land?
ZT3 pro for the win!

Yeah, the GT1 is an insane deal right now at $1,500.
The ZT3 Pro doesn't share any parts in common with the GT1, but the styling is definitely similar. -Paul
For the 1500 price would you recommend the GT1 over the ZT3? I dont care about speed. I care more about ride comfort, reliability and range. Thanks for your input. @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
Do we all remember when the scooter was a toy made by children with scrap wood? Remember doing downhill races with your friends? Wait, remember when your brother had the idea of putting an old lawnmower motor on it!? Guys this is why it's important to take away your children's phones, and insist they go outside and be hellions for at least three hours of the day. This is where new inventions come from.
My brother and I had “coaster” cars literally made out of metal trash cans old lumber and whatever wheels we could find. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Yes!
@@Hollylivengood I wish I still had mine now. My 7-year old and 10 year old would love it. I don't think I would turn them loose on the streets with them the way my parents did. The brakes didn't even work! -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide What were they thinking? My brother really did have the genius idea to put a lawnmower motor on it, and our dad helped him! We all had to try it, and about died. Truth be told, the whole neighborhood went trundling down the street with the motorized scooter, crashing and burning, blood...y'all, I had ripped skin flopping in the breeze while rolling along. Nobody thought anything of it.
Greetings from Russia! Thanks for the review! You can specify the dimensions and weight of the box in which the scooter is supplied, I did not find this information in the video. If possible, provide the data in the metric system.
Hi, we don't usually measure boxes for our reviews, but since I have the box right here I measured it for you just now.
51" x 13" x 25.5" inches
which is roughly 130cm x 33cm x 65cm

Bruh! What is your theft insurance!? I'm in France too and still need to figure out the insurance before it arrives. But I would like to have proper theft protection as well.
@@rastingaming8532salut je suis français aussi et malheureusement je n'avais pas assuré ma trottinette contre le vol et pour a peine 1€ de plus par mois. J'ai perdu tout l'argent de la trotinette qui avait environ 1000km
I really need your help! According to the law, we are limited to 25 km / h, but we also want our scooter to go 40 km / h. We need your help in creating firmware, how can we contact you?
We don’t create any firmware
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
we only need a scooter id, i can tell you where to find it. We have a team of developers who can make the firmware.

if youre gonna compare the range to the ninebot max you should limit the top speed to 22
We always test the range when riding in the highest mode as part of our testing procedure.
-Paul
There’s no light in the back or on the side. I didn’t see front lights
There’s a brake light/tail light. It had the big X light on the front and a headlight. But there are no swag lights, like deck lights shining on the ground. The turn signals are on the end of the handlebars.

Based on performance i think gotrax gx1 is a rival to this
The GX1 and the ZT3 have about the same acceleration, but only when the ZT3 is in Boost mode. The GX1 has a bigger battery. Range is the same. The GX1 wins on top speed, but is heavier and costs a bit more.
You can find all of our latest test data at the electricscooterguide website. :-)

@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide thanks man, your reviews are great
Nice video/test. I was very surprised to not see it in the best under 1000$ but it might have been a bit too early vs the release date… but it seems more expensive than in Europe…
Yeah, it wasn’t here yet. Thanks for watching and commenting. -Paul
