He educated so many of safe substance use. It should be taught in schools. I mean, telling kids "JUST DON'T DO IT!" has never be a viable option over education on safety. I always remember the Vice doc with Hamilton in Haiti about to attend Voodoo Ceremony and at one point he blatantly stops to take an Adderall IR before going in haha. Was the first time I ever saw transparency in a journalist level like that. Truly a man of culture. 😂
Swear , I remember him doing this hiv meditation that got him high as hell as he hate a banana in the bathroom 😂😂 think in Africa somewhere , we’re the drug was mixed with other drugs to make up a high
Never use a nurse practicioner's prescription for vitamins and supplements aka precursor analogues in front of a Pill Pusher of a Medical Doctor in good standing with the American Medical Insurance Associations 😅
Never mind VICE news actually did an expose on hydroxychloroquine as the World's Most Counterfeit Drug where they visited the same Chinese factories where they'd ordered Fentanyl through the US Postal Service
I always enjoy listening to Hamilton’s take on various compounds. I’ve had an anxiety disorder since I was a kid and eventually I got on benzodiazepines. Long story short, I abused them for many years and now my anxiety is thousands of times worse than it was originally. Just an absolute nightmare situation.
Joe Rogan (the show AND the man) is great at bringing out the best in people. I always knew Hamilton Morris was smart, but he is also one of the most insightful people I've ever watched on TH-cam. I loved listening to him.
1:07:24 I'd rather have the worst flu I've had in my life than to go through heroin withdrawls again. It for me at least was waaaaay fucking worse than any sickness I've had. The worst part was the inability to feel comfortable enough to sleep. Take the feeling you get when you've been laying in one position for awhile multiply it by 100x then take away the relief from that feeling when you change to a new position.
Totally agree. With years of dependence it took nearly 6 months to be able to sleep for 4 hours solidly. First 2 weeks lucky to get an hour a night. All in 5/10 minute cat naps 1:09:41
That's pretty good description of that aspect of withdrawal, now add skin feels like rancid grimy rubber with nerve endings exposed. And add a bad flue on top of that.
Yup.. the runny nose, hot and cold chills/sweats, yawning, diarrhea etc.. is NOTHING compared to the restlessnes that comes when full withdrawal kicks in. It starts in your legs and then creeps up your spine to the middle of your back until you start jerking and moving nonstop to try to settle the feeling. The only thing that even slightly helps is smoking cannabis and then laying down in a shower with the water as hot as possible. The hot water helps calm the restlessnes and the cannabis does wonders to calm your body down during withdrawal. You have to smoke every 1.5-2 hours but it does help and give some relief. I've been in full withdrawal maybe 8 or 9 times in my life and it is something i wouldn't wish on anyone
Yeah I guess some people are really THAT affected by weed. Idk man, maybe it’s my high tolerance or something but no singular amount would make me unable to drive, remember, or anything really.
I love how many times Hamilton has asked Joe what dose he took of some substance. Joe will say something like X capsules to which Hamilton will just pause clearly resisting vocalizing the thought "oh so you don't know how much you took, interesting 🤔"
I am one of the people who cannot feel edibles. It's because your liver is unable to process delta 9 into hydroxy 11 THC. I could take 2,000-3,000+ mgs and feel nothing more than a bit sleepy. Anything higher I just pass out.
Okay, are you certain it’s that? Have you tried p450 enzymes? Greafeuit juice? Actually eating them with a good lipid… Also, I used to be the same, but when I started using CBG+CBC edibles, they work. Try those at least. Would be cool to be able to buy the 11 hydroxy already formed.
Hamilton needs to be THE spokesmen for every Mind expanding substances........not that he needs to do this, it is WE the people NEED him to do this for us.
OMG, I have a confession 😂 This is the time iv heard of Hamilton ❤ I'm hooked now to find out more. What a podcast. What a guy!!!!! Joe, I absolutely love this podcast well done ❤
Shout out for Lomotil! I have had colitis for 2 decades, and that drug is the only thing that has helped my symptoms. I don't take it very often. But knowing I have a tool to help me from shitting myself and not feel like I'm dying has transformed my life. ❤
I am a cannabis professional and organic grower, been in the biz since 2005. I make my own solventless concentrates. It took me 2500mg to finally get a noticeable high from edibles. It took over 4 hours before the effects finally kicked in. But, I was fully ripped out of my gourd for almost 3 days... I titrated up from 500mg in 500mg increments once a week for over a month before I hit the right dose. The messed up part is I can't find a middle ground. Either I feel nothing/very little, or I get completely obliterated for far longer than I would prefer. I gave up on edibles. My dad is the same way.
Joe: Wow. Hamilton: Yeah. Joe: Wow! Hamilton: Yeah! 😂❤ Love to listen to Hamilton Morris and learn from his knowledge, thank you very much for the Podcast! 👍🏻
Loving the video just wish the pharmacist could talk a little about the problems of the variations of cocaine and people self manufacturing crack /cocaine I e bicarbonate soda and ammonia the could u explain
Edibles have done nothing to me ever since I got my gallbladder removed. I am convinced it is due to the bodies poor ability to break down fatty compounds (THC binds to fat) without the larger amounts of bile stored in the gallbladder. Not saying that's the case for everyone, but it was a night and day difference doing edibles before and after my surgery.
He explained k perfectly. I used that stuff to get threw a hard time and it was life changing. The k hole was something I can't explain frightening but amazing at the same time sitting thier working threw all my problems and coming up with plans to fix them. they prob took it down because they were afraid youtube would ban the channel for talking about covid. I remember youtube was banning channels for talking about covid
I think Hamilton won’t go on bc Joe became to political or too rightwing I wish they would set aside their political differences and focus on this topic
About the edibles not working, its about cytochrome p450 enzymes. Its likely the metabolic enzyme for this is higher than normal, so inhibiting or downregulating it would make you feel higher again. You can try grapefruit but CPY3A4 is the secondary enzymatic mechanism. CYP2C9 is the primary. Its inhibited by quercetin, curcumin, ginseng, green tea, ginko, and more. You can try one or a combination of a few over days or weeks. Some can be more mild especially at low or inconsistent dosages
Also, the first metabolite of THC is also psychoactive, possibly even more so. CYP2C9, and less so 3A4, (and even less 2C19) make this conversion. From there dehydrogenase enzymes convert that metabolite to something non psychoactive, therefore you could also inhibit the dehydrogenase enzymes, but we’re not sure which specific ones do this. It doesn't seem to be ALDH, but this is a great topic to research
Super surprised he did not speak about Suboxone. It has saved my life. I tapered over 3 years using it under care of my primary care physician and have been “truly”clean for 3 years since I tapered off of it. It’s a wonder drug. When done right - It saves lives.
This is one awesome guy I have watched him for years and I have all the respect in the world for him. He’s definitely helped in getting outlawed drugs put to use in people suffering with PTSD or any kind of depression. Big pharmaceutical companies doesn’t like it but screw them. When taking all the medicines from doctors you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t take it. There’s no doubt about the things in our food and drinks and medicine are causing more cancer than ever before and dementia as well.
My dad died from swine flu in 2010 and I was so content with the pandemic, and the body bags piling up in New York City, seeing their hospitals needing mobile freezers to hold the cadavers, it just filled me with so my joy, because I felt so lost after the lose of my father that I liked knowing people around the world were going to go through what I went through. And fill the loneliness that I had after my dad died just to getting the flu.
I'm doing a paid study at the University of Minnesota for psilocybin microdose for treatment resistant depression. Dosed in milligrams in a pill, still in recruiting phase for anyone who's tried mushrooms and lives in the twin cities
Your appendix and gallbladder seem to have a great deal with how your body processes the cannabinoids when you eat it but I also had my appendix removed afterwards my edible threshold went up about 250 mg
I'm glad that Joe brought up the positive effects so many get from microdosing psilocybin. I probably don't need to go into detail about how it helped immensely me to get out of a very dark period, but I truly hope that it will be given the chance to prove it's efficacy in treating certain mental health conditions. Microdosing LSD on the other hand has never had that grounding, healing, expansive, and teaching effect as psilocybin for me. Maybe they used the LSD in the research Hamilton mentioned, though, to rather look for nootropic effects in terms of prestation, creativity and such.
When Joe Rogan was in doubt about the study Hamilton mentioned concerning microdosing, I was reminded of something a lot of people do, but particularly Rogan. When confronted with information or a study that doesn’t align with his prior set of beliefs he becomes very defensive. Without any familiarity or prior knowledge of the study, he attempts to pick apart the methodologies of said study and assumes the people involved didn’t account for any possible “variables”. All of a sudden a study isn’t legit unless it involves perfect clones. He’s incredulous to the idea that scientists could possibly create a study from which we can glean information reliably, yet he routinely appeals to the credentials of people with beliefs that align with his own and will say things like “there are studies on it,” something he does in the beginning of this very conversation. Even worse he regularly appeals to anecdotes to support things he believes and routinely is tricked by misinformation he reads on Twitter. Ideas he has a bias for require very little evidence, but ideas he has a bias against require an almost impossible standard of evidence.
Hamilton is my favorite guest on here. His work is beyond great
