Mr. Tyson, 1. what problems did you see in how we handled COVID 19 (lockdowns etc) and 2. how do we explain the cardiovascular disease increase since 2020?
Yeah, his "social contract" argument really stuck with me anytime he pops up now. There will always be outliers regarding any social movement, no matter how practical but science and statistics are not on Tyson's side regarding the vaccine. This was a time where the "rebellious" people actually played it safe, Tyson wholly trusted an experiment and still believes it was technically a success. In this interview he went on the same tirade and saying that five times as many people would have died because most the people dying were unvaccinated with comorbidities. He can recognize that propaganda is deployed often and says scientists are trained to be skeptical but still winds up making the same arguments regarding COVID-19 and the vaccines. How can, in 2024, we are still learning things about COVID-19 but in 2021 vaccines and MRNA gene therapies were rolled out worldwide but people still walk around any issues that arose from many people that developed problems after they got vaccinated. The same variant, likely the first, that spread around the world was the same one by the time the vaccines were ready for a novel disease. The people that didn't take or encourage people to take an experimental shot aren't anti-science, they're like Tyson is on sending a gerbil through a teleportation device or Mars. He's not a bad dude but his arguments regarding the jabs won't convince anyone who hasn't taken them yet, especially if they've witnessed adverse reactions. Many doctors, who took it, are now coming to terms with the vaccines, whether it's adverse reactions or the suppression of effective treatments because EUA can't be used for an entire population if there is a treatment that works readily available. Many things have come out since this conversation but I suspect Neil is still saying the same shit on the topic. I like his approach to many things and he seems like a good guy but he really missed the mark on that.
Neil is the perfect guest for Theo's podcast... this really loosened him up, and the dynamic between the two is incredible. Science blended with comedy and a bit of philosphy. Perfect.

Theo fully towing the line between all human borders right here. He’s so comfortable being the underdog … all while charming all the big dogs AND makes them think. Theo man, he’s the real contender.
That's what I was just thinking as well. Like we all have our strengths and weakness, Neil is a great scientist and a teacher in explaining how things work yet reading subtle social ques and missing funny moments that Theo has to manage as a podcast host lol, that's what made this 3 hour video pass by.
You two bounce off each other so naturally, the humor and the science both compliment each other perfectly. I'd listen to a podcast with the both of you every week.
I love how when Neal starts off their conversation with a bit of a corny/tame joke (nothing wrong with that btw), Theo brings up some similar ones to relate and make him feel comfortable. That was pretty wholesome
I never expected the best love life advice to come from Neil deGrasse Tyson. Nobody else is asking him that type of stuff. Literally choose 3-5 fundamental things that you look for in a partner; give each thing its own cordinates: and then multiply them to get volume number. The main reasoning is if you choose 3 any 1 of those 3 could fade with time so you need to determine the volume of example : Attractiveness/ ability to raise kids-physical love life/ kindess- empathy/ willingness or drive to work or do something productive. that is a 4d thing I thought of.
Bro this just might be one of the best podcasts I have ever seen. Such an organic interaction between the two, gotta love how eloquent Neil is, and how awesome Theo's mind is, and they work so well together it's almost scary haha thank you, this really did make my day!

this is the most amazing conversation I have ever witnessed. Never before have i witnessed two brilliant people trying fiercely to engage each other but COMPLETELY miss each other's cues at every turn. Theo was hilarious while Neil was factually insightful, yet neither seemed to get on each other's page, yet the conversation made me laugh and think deeply, somehow simultaneously. Fantastic
@stephentroncoso1070 Very nice observation. You forced me to pay close attention to what you seen. I caught what you were seeing, while finishing the podcast. Very cool indeed.
Definitely picked up on that early on and it’s unfortunate imo because it made for a frustrating listen. A lot of the blame is on NDT, though, who, when he’s on a specific train of thought, does not like to veer off course or go on a tangent. He wants to get his point across and fully explain his point in the exact way in which he’s rehearsed it in his mind. Theo is an off the cuff comedian who wants to riff and come up with funny bits and is more eager to listen and bounce ideas off of the other person.

Theo, this is by far my favorite episode so far … the way you two laugh together is priceless. This is also a premise for the show that Dana carvey did. He talks about it with theo on a recent episode. Something along the lines of “an alien comes here but gets addicted to the junk food and doesn’t want to leave”
One of the best pods ive listened to in a while. Usually dont like NDT as a guest on podcast because the host can often be standoff-ish with him but Theo's lack of ego and open mindedness allows him to just sit and listen while cracking jokes at the right times.
huge props to Theo for reading the book even if he just had somebody read it & tell him points in the book that still is 30x more effort than anybody else shows to a guests book or show or movie. really classy man 👑

Not having a Cosmic Vibe Celsius next to Neil was a huge advertising miss but other than that the episode was incredible 😂 thank you guys for taking the time to chat 😊
That cannibal skit had me in tears. Great convo, NDT interrupts people, and Theo has a way of just listening, Joe Rogan gets too hot under the collar when he's interrupted. This was gold.
“I just want people to hear how unique they are” Theo is the most genuine comic out there I feel like. Little sayings like these every so often puts him above other comics for me. He’s so admirable and kind on top of being one of the funniest comedians. I might not be speaking for myself here but he’s actually super relatable. Maybe not his ridiculous life stories, but his empathy and gratitude and feelings are, for sure. Love ya Theo. - Chris from Alaska
Watching these videos helps to open my perspective on how people feel and think. I believe we are individuals who seek eachother and camaraderie and we dont find that in everyday life. Is it because our values are more important than others or we feel inable to express who and how we are cause we are not able to recieve back lash? I just think if everyone made a choice to open up to people you have no idea about like Theo does the world could be better place.

Perfect.
