  • This is a fairly detailed teardown and reassembly of a Nintendo Switch Lite. The purpose for the rebuild is to swap the turquoise shell with a new ExtremeRate clear atomic purple shell. This is my first time making a video like this, and I learned a lot during the process which means future videos will be much better.

    • @MakeStuffDoMore
      @MakeStuffDoMore  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for pointing this part out. The problem (besides my camera angle) is that the plastic bumper will catch on the button and force it backwards and crooked when it should be floating right over the top of it. Basically I just put an exacto blade in between the button and the plastic bumper, so that the bumper is forced to slide over the top of the button. Good luck on completing it, and thank you for using my tutorial. 🙂

      Thank you for the compliment. I hope you can get that part attached again. I've seen one before that somebody accidentally detached. It took the pins off the board with it, but the solder pads remained usable and I was able to solder it back on with a very fine tip on my iron @ 280°C. • @MakeStuffDoMore

      Isopropyl alcohol. 99% is best, but a lower concentration is fine. The lower concentration has more water, so you just have to make sure that it's fully dry if you happen to get it all over the circuit board.

      Good question. I generally just try to have a very thin layer that covers the entire die, but isn't too much that it'll squish out all around it when the heat sink goes back on. You can see in the video how sloppy of a job I did, and it probably did squish out all around it, but it's perfectly fine and works just the same as before the shell swap.

    This is my first project ever. Im a 34 year old that never opened anything. The switch lite i feel is hard because its so small. I managed to do it but had a million problems along the way. In the end, everything worked except for the touch screen. The screen works i just cant use touch. All buttons work and card reader works. Wifi works. I dont know what the problem is.

      It's really good that your system mostly works after your first time ever tackling a project like this. It's possible that the heat and stress of removing the screen was the culprit, but you might get lucky and find that a ribbon cable isn't seated and locked in just right. Either way, congrats on taking on such a project. It's definitely not for the faint of heart, and you'll get better every time you do something like this.
