    Capt Mike your obviously a wealth of knowledge and I enjoy your seminar, shows and magazine but I dont think enough can be said about how well you speak publicly. Not easy and you do it with such ease. I dont think I have ever heard you say "um, um..." once which is what most people do. Great job and keep up the great work.

    Excellent seminar and to the naysayers thinking you have to make 6digits a year, I started off with budget gear fishing from docks and jetties with great success after I got dialed in to that type of fishing. My biggest redfish (48in) was from a dock on a 150$ combo. Thanks and tight lines!

      I have made this suggestion to you before. Consider putting together the “kite box” and the “sword fish” box, Jigging box, deep drop box etc. Why not take advantage of your “years” putting stuff together instead of having to put in all of those years and probably not getting it right anyway. BTW just made some major purchase from CHAOS and you are right those folks are all “quality” people. Thanks, AD

    I bought 1000 yards of 30# Momoi Diamond Mono off Amazon and it came from Chaos. Arrived 5 days before scheduled delivery. I hear all the time people say "mono is mono" and I couldn't disagree more. Momoi diamond mono is, to me, unbeatable in the mono market. The only line I've found to compare is Jinkai from Japan and I prefer the Momoi.

    Great seminar! If you’re watching red snappers or other fish float away with barotrauma after release, try using a descending device. You can easily make one by tying your main line to the bend in a barbless J hook with a segment of line tying the eye of the hook to a weight. Hook the fish and drop down, give it a good yank when deep enough to release. They’re required on all bottom fishing vessels in the northwest, and it gives the fish a fighting chance at surviving release!

    If you dont already sell complete boxes like your kite box think about the customers that will grab the whole box and be done and return in the future to restock. Big profit opportunity and making it easy for the customer.

    If you fish a tournament that requires you to use IGFA certified line, how do they check/know that you have IGFA certified line on your reels. Is it mainly built on trust of the anglers, or will they have marshals actually come around and check it?

    • @jeffsmith825
      @jeffsmith825 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do quite a bit of high speed trolling and there are a couple brands I like. Spro makes tiny tiny swivels that are remarkably strong, but to be honest they're just too darn small for the diameter line used. The ones I use are Owner ball bearing swivels. I use anything from 200lbs up. They are bigger than the Spro swivels so the line diameter is no problem. I like the ball bearing swivels, they're more expensive, but I think they improve action on the lighter lures. Good luck!!

I have a couple penn fathom 25 and a couple spin fishers (4500 and 5500). Any recommendation on what to spool these with? Also do you recommend knocker or fish finder rigs for this type of fishing..Thanks and hope to make it over to CHAOS soon,

    Capt mike, great seminars. Military has brought me to the Hawaiian islands and I have jumped right into the salt life. My question is concerning the PE line you mentioned. I looked up the exact brand you mentioned the Momoi MX8 on eBay. I couldn’t figure out what size to get in kilograms. I have 50lb power pro on my jig set up now. You mentioned that the PE line is stronger and smoother and smaller diameter. What size line size in kilograms would you suggest for the PE line for average I can catch anything type of fishing. I’d like to stay close to 50lb but I’m good with working drag. Thanks for your time.

    Are you sure about that circle hook statistic with commercial fisherman? Studies I've read clearly document a higher catch rate with standard J Hooks. Circle hooks are for reducing death rates of By-Catch.

    • @FloridaSportFishing
      @FloridaSportFishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no question that circle hooks are extremely effective, which is certainly one of the reasons commercial fishermen rely on them. Yes, you are correct, they are also designed to reduce by catch. Its a win win! - Capt Mike

    Tackle hawking. Very informative. From a tackle shop owner?. Best I've heard. Share this video with friends. At time mark 42:45 he hides the identity of defective product from us and just says don't buy cheap stuff. I'm thinking its brass swivels. It's good to know that his advice is ultimately bent on selling product. Lots and lots of product. Time stamp 56:10 . There's Irresponsible attitude described at 1:02:23 with a admission of killing off bottom caught fish (red snapper and Goliath grouper?) by barotrauma so ""sharks eat em"". " What think you on any of this?

  • @vincentluca3695

    Although company's rate the line below the breaking strength, are the ones that break much higher much thicker? or is the line just better and the same diameter? I would hate to buy 30lb but its the size of another companys 50lb.

    • @FloridaSportFishing
      @FloridaSportFishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Excellent point and yes, while line ratings vary by strength its also related to diameter. There is no one universal policy in place across the industry and different brands rate their line slightly differently, I always study diameter vs. diameter when determining best line to use/spool based on my particular needs. - Capt Mike
